The stores are well organized. The employees are extremely helpful there is a good selection in variety of products and over all the stores are clean and well located one in East Ames and one in West Ames.

Hy- vee grocery store is a great store to shop but if u want to save money you would go to Aldi where u save a lot of money hy - vee is ok but so expensive I rather save money. At Aldi than spend everything I have on me and get little bit of groceries. But if you go to Aldi right across the street from Hy-Vees you will save money and get a lot more.

Ever since they stopped printing an ad, I rarely go there. You have to scan a code to see what is on sale. Im not a fan of that. Im old school & wish they would realize that all of the older generation is not dead yet. I know many people who feel the same way. Its easier for us to have a physical ad to look thru. It would be nice to have a full ad available. I will be doing most of my shopping at fareway from now on. They supply ads for their customers at the store.

Good store, decent prices, good selection. The restaurant area is superb though! Fresh food, really good prices, and an awesome dining area. They even have a bar!

It was a short shopping visit. A typical Hy-Vee groceries store. The place is stocked up neatly and fully. Workers are always helping and attentive to the customers and there was a Melissa that typified the helpful smile in every aisle with her beautiful smile and friendly greeting.

Im not a fan of the parking lot and how it curves in front of the store. Just seems a bit narrow considering all the people trying to move through there.There was also a section of carts where the coral looked to be installed crooked. It would be very easy for someone to mistake it as an empty spot and pull their car in by mistake.Other than that, the staff is very friendly and the store has an impressive selection. Very clean and well stocked which has to be difficult with how many people are there whenever I go in.

Jackson in the floral department ordered in balloons special for my sons graduation. He was also there to help me pick out all the coordinating balloons for the balloon bouquets. Hes super friendly and was really helpful. He wven remembered me as I did him from our phone conversation. The outdoor garden center was also well taken care of and had friendly staff too. Great experience!

Impeccable customer service! Sure its a bit more spendy than Walmart, but with such an awesome staff and amazing meat, deli and bakery, who cares! For this grumpy old man, worth every penny!

At 9:00 PM there were no lanes open for check out at West Ames Hy-Vee. I had to use self-check for a full cart of groceries. If people are always limited to self-check at this time, it is understandable but I wish that info was posted somewhere. I would have limited my purchases to account for that. The over-reliance on self-check is frustrating for a store that once prided itself on personal service. Increase your wages and perhaps you will find it easier to staff the store, even in this challenging market. I normally love this store and its excellent selection, but being limited to computerized service made my shopping experience less that positive.

Hy-Vee grocery store at 640 Lincoln Way in Ames, Iowa is a huge supermarket for ALL of my grocery needs! They have recently renovated the ENTIRE STORE! It’s EVEN BETTER NOW! It has a great eat-in, rustic-chic restaurant style seating area and bar, complete with a ginormous Flat-screen TV to watch the game on! The in-store pharmacy, postal service, dry-cleaning service, and floral department are amazing! The beautiful produce, meat counter, freshly made Nori Sushi bar, Chinese Xpress kitchen, fabulous deli, and Smells OH SO GOOD bakery are all so wonderful & welcoming and everyone is friendly and helpful! As the ol’ jingle goes,”Where there’s a HELPFUL SMILE, in EVERY AISLE!”

Used can return area at East Hy Vee today. It was dirtier than I have ever seen it. I expect some grime and dirt, it is a can return area, but this experience was pretty gross. The store itself inside is well put together, and clean, hence the 4 star rating.

Went to get prescription and ended up buying some groceries as well. They almost always have what I am looking for.

This location does not educate their younger staff on the floor of how to handle inquiries about out of stock product. They either do not help you and run away or they tell you incorrect info of when to expect product to be delivered. This store needs to better educate their staff on how to properly handle proper customer service if they do not know answers and to immediately handle inquiries instead of continuing their own conversations, joking, and ignoring the customer.

I love the fact that you can have your items delivered. Every time Ive interacted with any employee, theyve been super helpful. However, the past several times the items have arrived after our selected time slot with the excuse of higher than normal demand. If that is the case, they shouldnt have allowed as many people to sign up. In addition, there have been repeat issues with items supposedly not being in stock, but then is when we go to check. Once is a coincidence, multiple is highly suspicious.

Just needed some dry ice and Hy-Vee carries it.

Spent $30 at the Chinese deli very dissatisfied the noodles were gummy the walnut shrimp was coated in some kind of brown sugarish type of substance which gave the illusion of getting a lot but you only get like six pieces in it and theyre small also the chicken fried rice I was only given like three pieces of chicken in it. I ended up throwing it away because it was so dissatisfying

HyVee grocery store in Ames was great. There is friendly people working there. We usually get groceries there about once a week.

I love the variety here. I can get the organic items I want and still get regular items too (that I don’t want to spend as much on). There are a few oddly priced things here (off-brand Half and Half for $5.99??!! — I hope that came from a golden cow...), but I still prefer shopping here over other places. ALSO, thanks for making masks a CHOICE. Smart, apolitical move I appreciate. Associates are always great here too. Thx!Update: wow! New selection in organic breads is awesome! Also, one of your young men went the extra mile and held my broken trunk for me so I could load groceries tonight. A+++

Outstanding friendly cashier

Poor service, poorly stocked shelves, they expect you to check out your own groceries, the store doesnt close until midnight but they start blocking off entire sections of foodstuffs at 10 pm.

I decided to purchase groceries online for the first time. Very easy pick-up method at the store. When I got home I received a call that they forgot my cat food. Kyle insisted theyd deliver it for free same night. Props to Kyle for going the extra mile even though I would be able to pick up my cat food in the morning!

Had Hy-Vee Chinese for lunch. It was good as always. Only issue is they have not been doing a very good job at labeling the variety of options- pepper chicken label is at the opposite end from the actual pan of pepper chicken... Get the labels correct.

I like Hyvee because they carry products I cant find at other grocery stores, and there is always a friendly staff member to help find something. I was impressed that they make masks and sterilizing materials available at the entrance, and everyone in the store wore masks.

Since the rearranging of the store, there are more items to choose from. The checkout staff is always willing to help. A very pleasant place to shop with a hometown feel.

Not enough checkers this morning. Had to scan over $150 of groceries in the self checkout line. It took a long time and had several issues with scanning fresh fruit and vegetables. Also, scanning envipco rebates requires external assistance, which should not be necessary.Very disappointing.
