Came here looking for a bass and new drum set and was greeted by multiple friendly faces looking to help! Chris was a particularly amazing staff member, helping delineate between brands and qualities for my skill level, exceptional team and store.

Wow, a well stocked, quiet music store with a knowledgeable staff who also play is refreshing to us road weary tour musicians. Fantastic gear selection and reasonable prices make this a must stop when in Anchorage, Alaska. Dont miss it, just go.

Nice store, clean and well organized but limited guitar brands. And the quality of the affordable ones are poor and made in china. US made guitars says it in the sound hole. But not these. But if youre serious about learning this is the place you want to start.

Ashley is an amazing employee at this location and an absolute asset to the company.His knowledge on guitar, musicians, and playstyle is amazing and after just trying out one guitar and hearing how I liked to play, he found another guitar for me to try.When I first plugged it in you could immediately hear the difference. I started playing and my heart starting racing.It was 10x the sound and feel to the first guitar I was trying and only $50 more.The entire experience was incredible to me from when I walked in the door until I walked out.Hands down nicest guy Ive met in a long timeI wont ever forget my experience at guitar center and I will always tell everyone about it.

Was looking for a new guitar amplifier today. The salesman on the floor was friendly and helpful. I told him I have a loud drummer and was looking for a tube amp in the 50 watt range. He set me up on one and I played on it for a minute. I was playing at what I thought was a reasonable volume. Honestly I dont think the amp could be turned down any lower. A floor manager walked past and told me I needed to turn down 20%. I went back to the salesman and told him I didnt want to spend 1300$ on an amp I couldnt test past one, and asked if they had an isolated room I could test the amp in. He offered me one and the same manager strolled up and said they werent allowed to do that. No apologies or anything. Pretty disappointed because I liked the amp. Seems like management could be a little more accommodating. Wont be back.

Purchased a used guitar here last year for around $100.00 or less. I do not like it. It is poor quality sound. I feel I got took.😐

Just, disappointed and sad every time I go in there. The place is clean and its pretty but lacks service and if you want to buy an expensive guitar or keyboard you have to try hard pretty hard to find someone and most the time when Ive asked a question most of the answers were idk. I used to be a regular at the one in boise and loved the crew, got my guitar and uke serviced, bought a range of instruments, etc.. loved it. But this one lacks service, no one seems to care or takes the time when I have to have help to unlock any expensive guitars, if Im going to spend thousands on an instrument then I want to try it. Recently went in for my husbands birthday looking for a nice Taylor or Martin, by the second guitar the guy never came back and we caught the sales person fooling around with electric guitars just doing his own thing. I really wanted to buy something for my husbands birthday but was soured by the experience, I would rather pay more for the better service by going to a local store. Dont know why this one is lacking, and I understand locking up every guitar in this town, but have someone there so we can make sure we are happy with what we are buying please. Ive had other friends with similar experiences but with keyboards and such. Anyway, hope you guys improve and succeed. Thanks for hearing me out

My wife bought me a Fender Telecaster as a Christmas gift from the Anchorage Guitar Center with a 15% off coupon from the monthly flyer and used the savings to buy the extended warranty. Cut to Christmas when I open it and find out it has a buzzing fret, no big deal they will fix it, or so I thought. Brought it to them only to find out they no longer employ a guitar tech and havent for weeks!They wont exchange it for the exact same model and color they have on the wall because it was purchased using a coupon from their Christmas Sale and the prices are different!The Fender warranty still applies and guess who Fender states I have to take it to for Repairs? The Authorized repair center at the only Guitar Center in town. Only they cant fix it.On top of this the extended warranty we purchased only applies to manufactures defects after the manufacturer warranty expires in two years.Was excited about guitar Center being in Anchorage, even brought my brother there to buy a bass and an amp two days ago. I cant explain how frustrated I am with this situation.UPDATE- I was helped by the manager who apologized for the mixup, and he had no problem exchanging my guitar for the same model. It made my day and possibly salvaged a relationship.

Bought a Martin guitar floor model from this shop. Although there was a discount due to a few surface scratches on the guitar and case, they failed to humidify the guitar and it had become extremely dry by the time I received it. Ive contacted the shop and they will not address my concerns, claiming that they are not guitar technicians.

I have a single piece of advice for this place. I play the drums. So I will frequent this location to see what new snare drums they pick up. There were many times where I would try out a snare, and it would be tuned poorly, or barely tuned at all. (Im not referring to personal preference tuning, but simply tightening a head on a snare) Other than that, the staff is educated and are very helpful.

Amazon of music. 10 day return policy was a surprisingly short one. Had to return a monitor next day because it never worked out of the box. But cheap is cheap I guess.

The staff was nice and there are a lot of different instruments! I was there to get a DJ controller and a staff member helped me out. They also handle the COVID 19 situation very well. They clean the equipment before and after testing.

This place is stocked with everything, almost a bit much if you are just looking for guitars. They do have a beautiful area for acoustic guitars. There are more than just guitars also. They have drums and snares, and keyboards, and even some wind instruments. All your sound system pieces and parts are piled high too. I might increase to 5 stars after they get personal that are a bit more knowledgeable, but that comes with being open a bit longer... We shall see, theyve only been open a few months as of this review.

If youre looking for audio equipment in a hurry then you need to visit the Guitar Center. Guitar Center is more than guitars, drums, and keyboards; youll find all those small items like headphones, MIDI, and microphones. I wish they had a larger selection of adapters, but overall the selection is real close to other online stores. It’s the walmart of music shops. What can you really say.

Guitar Center has a lot of things to buy and look at, but not one knowledgeable person to help you make the right purchase. I’ve taken bad advice multiple times and have had to return things multiples times before getting the proper item.

Service is excellent. Variety of style of instruments is commendable. Im a drummer, so I was pleasantly surprised see they had a quaint drummer room with cymbals lining the walls and snares on the windowsill. Nearly any instrument you see can be played in the store, including the drums (they have electronic ones outside the drum room and two acoustic ones inside, but this is subject to change as these could be sold).

Guitar Center Has lots of things to buy and look at and I really like that place because my roommate really likes that place but I like it too

A giant chain store that charges for shipping to their store for online purchases. No other chain store does this anymore, but GC needs to tax Alaskans. Shop at your local music store. GC is garbage!

Everything in that store is solid klean and Orginized

Its guitar center, they aint bad its your stereotypical retailer. Staff is friendly but your much better off going to a independent retailer like Mammoth Music of Anchorage Guitar Central much more personal approach and supporting local business.

They are simply awsome from the door to the back of the store. Mercy and Selina in particular are 5 out of 5 with the customer service. And every rep in between. I went from a nervous newbie to feeling at ease. Good vibes.

Went in to sell a like new guitar amplifier that retails for right around $340 new. I understand that it is a used item ( although you couldnt tell by looking at it). I understand that they need to make a profit. But to offer $25 based on information gathered on a internet search of Offer Up, a basic sight filled with questionable legitimacy. The example that the offer I received was based on was the same model amplifier, but missing parts.Clearly advertised as Not complete. I pointed this out along with showing several listings with examples like my own, priced fairly and on sold listings over $150 on established sites such as eBay.This fell in def ears. So having had enough of their insulting, condescending and unwelcoming approach at a dea;l I left. And was irritated enough to leave a comment. So if your looking to cringe and raise your stress level to the point of an aneurysm. By all means...Lug your valuable equipment in, gander at their used prices, establish a fair value of your item and prepare to be insulted.

A well stocked music store for musicians and DJs to get current gear.

Manager Mike is a very impolite fellow. I wouldn’t recommend this guitar center unless you want 100% sass.

My favorite place to shop and a great place to be. A wide selection of acoustic and electric guitars, basses, keyboards, drums, interfaces, and microphones.

This place is amazing. They have plenty of staff to help and you can basically try anything in the shop out before you buy. I will probably spend thousands of dollars here.

The music industry’s Walmart

My bf signed up for drum lessons here, after getting the run around and attitude from Selina he finally got them booked. He loved the first lesson but he came for the next one and it was some else he didnt click with. They told him though they dont give refunds. We went to talk to Mark and he would not even come out . We asked for his name and the rude lady told us to google it!!!!!!

Limited selection compared to other Guitar Centers. The salesman that helped me didnt seem very happy to be doing it.

Update: they agreed to refund me for the 4 lessons (the 4 I didnt use). So i updated to 2star review. I still wont be doing business with them, but appreciate they at least made it right.Original: I paid for 6 lessons with a particular instructor. When i returned for the second lesson, I was told they were moved and O had no choice of teacher (I didnt like new guy). So then I went in to get refund on lessons I couldnt use; I paid for lesson with a particular instructor. They told me that the only thing they would do is let me take lessons, no refund and no merchandise.The manager, Mark, was such a coward he wouldnt even come out to speak with me. He had Selina shuttle between he and I, while I waited to be told how I somehow cost them money, despite cancelling my appointments immediately after their bait-and-switch, so other customers could use my timeslot.Dont sign up with these people. There are lots of good musicians in town willing to provide better service and honest billing. Guitar Center is the Wal-Mart of music business, with no customer satisfaction guarantee.

Kids at the front friendly enough, The store is beautiful, but I’m not real happy with the communication. Left my uke to be restrung. Was told it would be some time later in the day. Got called later and told that it would be ready after 4:30. Went in at 10 the next day and was told someone would call. No one called. I went back in after 5 and the work was not done. The repairman didn’t know when it would be done and said he’d call. My beef is that no one communicated with me and I had to make several trips to get an answer. Back to Petr’s, I go.

The customer service to customer ratio (due to the Covid19 scare) is high so you will have a Guitar Center employee All Up In Your Privates.

Never been to a guitar shop in my life or have I ever held one.

So glad we have this store in Anchorage. More opportunities to network and simpler way to network with other musicians!

Wowzah lots to look at! And just as much to play with! Pretty awesome store, the staff not very helpful. My daughter and i walked around for about an hr and not once was i approached or greeted. Which has its upside, i hate be harasses, but my daughter was there to make a purchase.
