Very convenient liquor store if youre staying at Captain Cook Hotel. Has a good range of all types of alcohol. The staff has been pretty helpful everytime I go and recommended some nice beers. Favourite so far is the Matanuska Wee Heavy Scotch Ale.

The place opens at 10:00 a.m. all week and opens at 12:00 a.m. sundays.The place is well stocked with whatever you want. And if they dont have it, theyll get it next shipment for sure. The staff is amazing.If youre new to the area or just here for a visit, youll notice at the door that theres an ID reader, thats a little bit different. But its just to keep the theft down.Sometimes it doesnt read your ID correctly, so what you do is press two fingers down on your ID while its scanning, and it should unlock the door and let you in.Most Brown jugs have this system in place in the area, so dont be disappointed if you find it somewhere else.

Worse liqueur store I have ever been.I visit this store mandatory, because I live and work close by and I have no transportation to go another place.Customer service is very bad, except young lady who is usually there.If she is not there, who ever replaces her are not helpful at all and they are very rude. Specially lady with red hair and glasses and older lady who is cashier there time to time. They have no customer service manners.They say, they have H...on Hotel employee discount. Sometimes they honor, sometimes they dont honor (like today August 8th at 5pm)On July 14th, they double charged ($6.89), first I paid with gift card. Cashier said, it didnt work. Then I paid in cash. When I came home, I checked the gift card balance and I saw I was charged. I didnt care too much it was small amount.

Excellent security. Which keeps prices down. This store is right next to the public defenders so they need it lol.I believe the manager is veteran and they are very veteran friendly and they even have veteran owned brands there. Military discount too.

Went to buy diet Dr Pepper with my wife, they insisted we both have id. We’re in our 60s trying to buy sodas and they won’t sell without id. We left with no diet Dr Pepper. Why?

Great little Brown Jug. They double check I.D. Cards for security reasons since some people have the guts to run out with unpaid alcohol. I understand why they check identification information before entry. Good selection of beer not the best prices in town but convenient. 5 stars

The staff here were extremely friendly to me when I was locked out of my truck. They provided above and beyond customer service.I shop here, as many do, for the downtown convenience. Decent wine selection, a good swath of craft beer, and the liquor you need to make any drink (just no mini bottles sold here - downtown issue).So, this little Brown Jug packs a punch and the staff earned a 5 star review from me.

Not sure what to think of their automated ID reading machine at the front door but theyre very very very secure when it comes to security and prompt service

Nice little liquor store in downtown Anchorage. We bought wine there before our cruise and the selection was decent and the prices were spot on with what we expected to pay. A good choice

Unpleasant staff and not much selection.

Never open until posted hours. I would give a more complete review but have only made it inside 1 time. My proximity would make me a regular customer for local beer however they always seem to close early(pre covid19 also). Tried again yesterday around 9pm and they were already shut down. I highly suggest calling first and someone from BrownJug needs to update the hours of operation for their customers(or would be customers) convienience.

This is a kind of hole in the ground liquor store smack dab in the middle of downtown Anchorage, but it pretty much has anything you might want if youre staying at a hotel in the area. Youll pay a premium for whatever you get, but its kind of your only choice unless you wanna drive a few miles out. Keep your guard up going in or out, though, as this is a hotspot for the local homeless drunks. Theyll either ask ya for money or scream at you or just yell at their own shadows. Even though the Captain Cook Hotel is right across the street, this is a pretty sketchy area, so be alert!

Nice selection of wine...don’t be scared away by the upfront positioning of Moscato! Manager is knowledgeable about wine. Prices are ok.

It was okay. Had to grab two bottles two different times for her brothers girlfriend somehow some of the other bottles just disappeared and she try to say they drink it but I know they didnt

Got the best beer for the best price there. Ended up buying too much and giving it away as tips for the rest of my stay. Super helpful staff with lots of recommendations.

As visitors to Anchorage, we stopped here for a bottle of wine and some water to bring onboard our cruise the next day. People were kind and helpful. Convenient to our Airbnb.

Had a bush order to be delivered to Bethel, AK. The delivery didnt go as planned, fault of the carrier, and Brown Jug stepped up and made everything right by me. There are always hiccups, this business made it right.
