We always find the extra things that are hard or impossible to find at other places here. It gets pricey for us because we always find at least two unique things to try, but overall the prices are competitive. Five years ago, I got my husbands 15th anniversary gift, a $250 bottle of Scotch, for a few dollars less than the lowest price I could find it any where else. We have ordered some of our best Ports and found some high quality whiskeys of every vintage. The quality can be counted on. They will be honest with their recommendations and tell you if they have never tried an item.

This place always seems to have a very wide selection of local, craft, and standard domestic beers. The wine collection is extencive and I would recommend this place for a slightly large venue than the Gol Rush Warehouse if youre looking for a deeper seek :)

Largest selection of liquor we saw in alaska. The largest selection of local alaska liquor was at the 49th state brewery but this store had a little bit of everything. There is almost no way you could come here and not find something you like

This place is great! They have a large selection. Super friendly cashiers. My only suggestion is for them to do something to identify their staff (name tag, apron, polo) not behind the register. It can take awhile to find help.

Just another greedy liquor store owner that justifies the secondary market pricing on bourbon by assuming everyone is a ‘flipper.’ Furthermore, the owner thinks that donating a bottle or two to charity justifies the price gouging that occurs regularly to his ‘customers.’ Please do not support this ‘local’ business, there are better options in Anchorage that give customers a chance to get limited release bourbons at retail price.

Very helpful finding a spirit from days gone by

Went to Gold Rush this evening for the first time after living in Anchorage 4 years. (Usually we go to Brown Jug.) Gold Rush had a very large selection, was quite clean, and had very friendly staff. But, some serious setbacks. The prices were notably more expensive than Brown Jug, AND, the big issue for me, they don’t take AMEX! In today’s age that is simply not acceptable. Period. Would I return? Possibly, if I was in the same shopping center and only had to pick up a single item. But I will not go out of my way to return unless they begin to accept AMEX.

I was in the store today. They had black box wine for $19.99 savings of $10.00. so I was confused by that sign. I asked the manager. I said that is the normal price, where is the $10.00 savings. He proceeded to not answer my question and argue with me. I just got done spending $300.00, but I will never, ever go back. I was so angry that they would falsely advertise something. And than get a customer so upset.that is no way to run a business.

Although there is a great selection, maybe even the best in Anchorage, the customer service is severely lacking. At checkout the cashier had a sarcastic attitude and condescending tone of voice throughout the entire transaction. I had a friend with me and the cashier had demanded to see his ID. Yeah, I guess that makes sense, but hasn’t happened to me before and he could’ve asked politely instead of being demanding. My friend wasn’t purchasing anything, but obliged anyway. The cashier then proceeded to be rude and condescending for the rest of my time in the store for whatever reason. Will not be coming back if I can help it.

Last night I had the most horrendous experience at this store. Ive lived here for over a year now and have always gone to gold rush for liquor. Last night my two friends and I walked in only to be greeted with harsh eyes that managed to follow us through the entire store. Upon checking out we found that 2 cashiers had been following us, I am assuming to make sure we didnt steal anything. One cashier decided to open another line while I stood in the other since people were leaving. Instead of letting me check out there the woman exclaimed that I had to check out with my friends because she had to check all of our IDs at the same time. It would happen at both cashiers, correct? Instead she was adamant and because I wanted to leave I went to where she was. Guess what?? She never checked my ID when my friend bought the alcohol. Once I checked out she asked for mine which I gave. We asked if this was something new because we had all been there multiple times and have never been treated with this brash attitude. Instead the cashier word by word replied weve been doing this for all 10 years, have you ever even been here before? Such lack of customer service and the ridiculous way you made us feel is the reason we will never be coming back. We will steer others to do the same.

Hands down the best customer service Ive ever received at a liquor store in Anchorage. Staff never seem disgruntled or bothered by being asked questions and any question Ive had about product has been answered with an actual answer instead of the typical I dont know you get at a lot of other stores in town. While some of their prices seem high compated to the other places, some of their prices are also lower, so I think it evens out. My only complaint would be that I wish their growler bar had more selection, but thats really a minor inconvenience as theyre located rather close to a lot of the local breweries and I can just get my growlers filled directly a few blocks away.
