Meritus built my house approximately 3 years ago on Lake Keowee and it was the best experience Ive ever had. I just called there today to ask a question and Jeff happened to answer, and he remembered us and my house and was able to assist me.

Meritus is not focused on finishing your new home. They are too scattered and disorganized. They took over 14 months to build my small home. That was over 3 years ago and they have still not come back as promised to complete the one year glitches, of which there were very many. They are unresponsive and their subs and follow up contractors are poor quality. If you use them, which I would not recommend, make sure you have a hefty penalty clause around a completion date.

The customer service is very poor. Arrangements were made over the phone to meet at the Anderson office at 3:30pm. Before getting off the phone I was told that if anything comes up or if I needed to reschedule to let them know however everything was still a go. I made arrangements to get off work early and did so. Came home, changed clothes and drove to Anderson in the rain only to find the office door was locked. I called the employee on her phone and left a message saying I was at the office. I then received a text saying she thought we were going to confirm that morning, said she was with another client and asked if we could meet the next day. I wouldnt recommend using this company.
