Zen tattoo was honestly the best experience I have ever had at a tattoo parlor - I have 6 tattoos, been to multiple tattoo places and this has been the absolute best. Their prices are high because you are paying for them to take their time, follow cleaning standards to a T, and really make you feel comfortable. Haji did my tattoo and he was so kind, professional and detail oriented. Also did want to say - my tattoo is a character from a movie - this is definitely not all or even some of what the artists here can do. So talented and professional. Definitely will be back for more from them!

I got my first dot work tattoo from Haji at Zen Ink and it was one of my best tattoo experiences. The atmosphere is great and its such a big space. 10/10 recommend. The customer service was great, it was a very relaxing environment and Melissa made me feel very comfortable. My piercings were even and exactly how I wanted them. However, piercings are wayyy overpriced. I ended up paying $154 to have my nipples pierced and wasnt told how much it would cost until after the piercings were done. It was stated the service fee was $70, so I expected with jewelry to be around $90, since all I got was a simple metal barbell. Ive never paid over $70 for a piercing and Ive had 8.

Ive never written a review for any business but felt I needed to after my experience here. Ive had many tattoos by different artists and have never had an experience as uncomfortable and unenjoyable as this one. My artist was late which I was fine with, but the small style of tattoo that my artist agreed to do was not their norm so when I asked if they felt comfortable doing it, I was pretty much told that it was beneath them but they needed the money. They were offended that I even asked, even after i apologized if that was somehow an insult. After that, they acted like they were annoyed to have to do my tattoo at all. I had them place my stencil 3 times to get it perfect. Not excessive in my mind and took no time, but they acted completely annoyed the entire process. The work was fine, but for a paying customer whose only ever had enjoyable experiences until today, I felt I needed to say something. Im sure other artists here are great, but mine lacked professionalism and shouldnt agree to work that he doesnt want to do and if they do, dont take it out on the customer.

Wow, wow, wow! I have never had such a pleasant experience with any other tattoo shop. My friend and I were on the look out to get a tattoo, and after going through several, Zen Ink was able to fit us in after a consultation! Our artist was Shea, and he was absolutely wonderful.I love my tattoo! During my friends tattoo, she got light headed and nearly passed out, but Shea and the owner, Violit, were right on it with her. They offered her a snack, a sugar tablet, and water. They were very soothing and careful, definitely made sure that she was okay before continuing! Definitely recommend!

I have never left a review in my life for a business and it pains me to have to do this for a business as a whole for an experience with one artist who works here. The issue begins with my fault for being late to a consultation and for this I take full responsibility. I drove 1 hour for this consultation and encountered a few traffic issues along the way. I knew I was going to be moderately late so I attempted to call but the call went to voicemail. I could not contact the artist personally due to the fact that I only had his email. When I arrived I had a hard time finding the shop while using my GPS and parking. Once I arrived inside the shop there was no front desk so I had to find an employee and ask what to do. Once I finally found an available person they told me to read the poster outside of the door which states to “wait in the lobby and call the shop when you are here” so I called and received no answer again. I waited for awhile before another customer came in and a polite lady guided me to where the artist I was supposed to be meeting was waiting. Before I could even apologize or even introduce myself the first thing out of the artist mouth was “you’re late”. I tried to explain myself and apologize and move on to the point of consult. The consultation was for a tattoo cover up idea that resulted in my opinion, no progress. I did not really receive any suggestions or substance to the consultation in general. I, not being a professional, wasn’t sure what to ask or say and the artist did not seem to have much to offer either. He was more interested in continuing to lecture me about being late. He told me if I’m going to be late again that I need to let him know because that is the common curtesy. He pointed out that he only showed up to meet with me that day. I tried to explain to him that I drove an hour and that things that were out of my control caused my punctuality flaw. I also informed him that I attempted to contact the shop and that was unsuccessful. He still seemed very put out and annoyed with me. As a human being and a female I felt uncomfortable, unwelcome, and self conscious. I never intended to insult this artist integrity but I do not feel I deserved the full on lecture I received in return. For this I will not return. For anyone who reads this I will add that there are probably plenty of other professional artists here but this is for awareness.

The best tattoo shop in Asheville for a number of reasons. Exceptionally clean, they use vegan ink, its a calm and pleasant atmosphere, and the staff are always super nice and welcoming. But in my experience, what puts Zen Ink above and beyond is their artists are organized, punctual, and just generally make the entire process of getting the tattoo you want very easy and stress-free. And it goes without saying all the artists are incredibly talented, so you cant go wrong with any of them. Kate Cook is an absolute star, she stays busy but if you can get an appointment with her you wont regret it.

The owner of the store was amazing! I absolutely LOVED the atmosphere and overall vibe of the place. I felt comfortable, safe and she always made sure I wasnt in pain. I had to make an emergency stop here because of a fault of another piercer from my hometown and the woman who helped change my jewelry took her time and was very caring. Also, I highly recommend their mix for a salt water solution! It includes lavender and does wonders for your skin!10/10 would recommend!

Place is clean with such comforting vibes. They let you hold rocks (like rose quartz) during the session if you would like. Would recommend Zen to anyone.

I got my new beautiful tattoo with Kate this weekend while in Asheville. I loved the studio and my artist. Kate could tell I was uncomfortable during my work and did everything she could to make my experience better. Kate was also very responsive over email during the design of my new tattoo. I originally started communication with Enteka on March 9th. I really was impressed with their style and felt it would be a good fit for what I was looking for, plus the studio had great ratings. I got one response the same day, asking for examples of what I wanted but after I sent the concept/reference pictures the next day, I didnt hear anything back. COVID lockdown happened shortly after so I didnt give it too much thought. When I saw they were back open, I sent a message to the Enteka on July 1st. I waited a few days and didnt hear anything so I reached out to the studio on the 7th and they said they would pass along my message. I checked back in on the 10th and was told I would hear back within a week.I had also contacted another recommended artist from there (Monk) on the 16th via Instagram and they informed me to contact via email. I reached out to the studio again on the 17th and it was revealed that the Enteka tried to reply (multiple times) but for some reason, the email was blocked. Evidently that was never passed along to the studio or to me. I was given their phone number so I used that to contact them and while they apologized for the delay, they said they dont usually use text to book appointments. So I went back to email. I emailed both artists on the 20th and both responded one time each a day or two later. I replied to both again shortly thereafter and never heard anything back. I finally emailed them both again on the 2nd of August just asking if they didnt want to do my tattoo, to please tell me. Just a few minutes later, I get a response from Enteka saying Oh sorry, I thought I replied to your other email but it was in my draft folder. They asked if I wanted them to send me their available dates and I replied the next day, yes. On the 6th, I got a reply but by that point I felt it was too little, too late. They both seemed enthused by the concept but it didnt really extend beyond the first email. I never got any more than the initial response (except from the studio, I got slightly more from them). I know theyre not obligated to do my tattoo (which is why I stated several times that if they werent interested to let me know or recommend someone else) and that theyre probably busy so I wasnt bugging them every day. I always gave it a few days (usually a week which I dont feel is unreasonable). I feel like my time and interest in booking them to do my tattoo was completely disregarded. The struggle to get any kind of response was very frustrating and the complete breakdown in communication was enough of a sign that it isnt a good fit.

I had the best tattoo experience ive ever had at zen ink!!! I just got a big half sleeve for my 18th birthday and its everything i could have asked for and more. Erin did my tattoo and it is STUNNING!!!!! It is literally perfect and exactly what i asked for. Erin was so sweet the entire time and offered drinks and snacks, and let me take breaks when i wanted. the atmosphere of zen ink is so peaceful and great, i didnt have a problem sitting there for 6 hours getting tatted. I drove 4.5 hours to get to asheville and it was SO worth it, i highly recommend zen ink to anyone looking for a great tattoo experience. 10/10. definitely will be coming back :)

River is the sweetest and the best! I went into Zen Ink a few minutes before they closed. I really wanted henna done on my hand. Id just had a bad piercing experience at another shop a few minutes prior. I told her about it as she did my henna. When she was done with the henna, she fixed my piercing issue in a jiffy which made me want to get another piercing. Her customer service skills are top-notch! Im definitely going back there again for piercings, henna and tattoos. Thank you so much, Sweets!

I couldnt be happier! Mychela was the artist I worked with and she was phenomenal. She listened to what I wanted and created six different designs and then tweaked the final one I chose even more to my liking. She made made sure I was comfortable, even giving me a bolster for my knees to help with my lower back issues. She walked me through the process, took care of explaining how everything worked, what she was going to do, what I could expect and then how to take care of my tattoo. She really cares about her work and the people shes working on. Her style and skill was perfect for what I wanted. Shes very detail oriented and also light handed - so the pain is nil. I am so happy I chose to work with her and she chose to work with me!Then theres the space! Its very calming and allows you the opportunity to have the headspace you need. I felt very relaxed and loved being surrounded by pretty bugs, art, stones and green walls.I would love to go here again!

My artist was Sierra and her work speaks for itself.Edit: it should be noted, I was informed by my artist that this shop usually has a female clientele. This could mean, like in my case, that if you are male presenting you will be made to feel somewhat unwelcome and like you are a threat. Dont get me wrong, the work will be still high quality, but the customer service may not be.

They pierced my son for me and they were awesome. The only complaint was I didnt have ID for my 16 to prove Im her mother so she couldnt get pierced. But, I guess thats the law.

My first tattoo ever and I got it on the eve of my 66th birthday! Zen Ink and my gifted tattoo artist Mychela made it a special memory. The tattoo is a black phrase in delicate writing with stippling and tiny birds. Mychela created it from lettering and an idea designed by my daughter. It is perfect. The space at Zen Ink is clean, upbeat, relaxing, and light-filled. The numerous artists work in cubicles personalized with items and images that reflect their artistic visions. Mychela was gentle, caring, and thoughtful. From our first consultation through the directions for aftercare, I knew I was in great hands. I highly recommend Mychela and Zen Ink

Wonderful place! My sisters and I got our first tattoo here. Violit was amazing and made us feel so comfortable!! Definitely reccomend.

My wife and I have been coming to Zen ink for several years and Violit has done all of our work. Its not your typical tattoo shop- not all skulls and Harley Davidsons. Very clean, friendly, professional and inviting for everyone. Highly recommended for inkwork or piercings.
