I went in a few days ago and the girl working was wonderful. She was really friendly and knew a lot about the instruments. She ran over how they work how the basic fingerings are and such. She also told me about some models and how they differ from each other. Very impressed by her knowledge and I will most certainly be coming back to buy an intrument. Best 1st impression with Woodrow.
This place is beautiful! Very small, and smells absolutely amazing. Its what initially drew me into the store, but how helpful and friendly Lauren was once we were inside really made it a great experience. The instruments are also absolutely beautiful, with incredible finishes, and I cant wait to start learning!!
I visited this amazing shop prior to the pandemic and did not purchase that day expecting to be back in the future. Well…. I ordered a Crystacello in Nov since I COULD NOT WAIT ANY LONGER. I’m a 65 yr old retired woman who has FALLEN IN LOVE!!! I play as often as I can. EASY to pick up. Can’t wait to return for a visit and a few pointers and yes -… a new Mandolyre???? Love the varied sounds. I’m learning more every day and find the time spent both peaceful and stimulating. Thanks so much to everyone at Woodrow for this wonderful sound.
I went into the Woodrow shop while on visit to Asheville. I fell in love with these instruments. Each one is a work of art. The gentleman in the shop (Dan that day) was very friendly and answered all my questions and listened to my feedback. Sadly, I was not able to make a purchase that day. I have since ordered and received my Old Timer. I love it and it has been so easy to learn to play. All the guys at the shop are great about answering questions either on line or in person. Every time I am in the area I make sure to go in and say hi to them.
I had the pleasure to meet Dan today and try out his Woodrow instruments. This is a very fun instrument to play and has an incredible sound. Picked up an Old Timer and havent been able to put it down. Dan himself was extremely nice and even gave us some advice on travels which we are glad we took. Had a beautiful ride down I-26.
JT was more than helpful and I absolutely love my Woodrow.
My wife and I happened to wonder into Grove Arcade and saw this fantastic shop. Fifteen minutes later we were walking out with one of their finest models. The fella in there really enjoys his job and made us feel welcomed. I highly encourage any musician or music lover to stop in. This little gem is for everyone with a song in their heart!
Awesome store. Its true, they will teach you how to play in under two minutes.
Sent my Old Timer to Woodrow for a soundboard repair or replacement per Dan.Package was signed for on 12-24-19. After repeated attempts to contact by phone and email, I never received a response. I call dailyand the phone is never answered and the voice mail is full. I do hope all is well at the Woodrowstore. Please, just a response to communicate my repair status would be nice.Dave
The owner was super rude. Seems like he only caters to tourists who don’t know anything about music or instruments. I have been playing guitar for 11 years. I walked in picked one up and immediately figured it out. He was pretending to show off in front some elderly tourists and did not like the fact that I just walked in and started playing. “My friend can you hold off, I’m trying to show them the different tones.” He could have been more polite about it.
Very helpful very patient. I am a neophyte and JT really helped me feel at least a little bit calm about my bid to try to create some music. His instrument is beautiful and even I being tone-deaf, can hear the beauty in his handmade instruments.Great experience and I feel a very fair price for his handmade instrument. Highly recommend you visit JTs place if youre interested in his music making machine!!
The sales guy in the shop barely acknowledged my son and I when we walked in. We were the only ones in the small store at the time. After he got off the phone, he couldnt be bothered to leave his station at the front.
The sales guy working when we went through thoroughly enjoys his job. He made us feel welcomed and did a great demonstration. If we had been expecting a $400 purchase, he would have sold us. Sorry but we didnt even know what we walked in to. We will probably purchase in the near future!
Beautiful, handmade, one-of-a-kind instruments and extremely friendly staff! Our kids picked them up and started playing right away. We bought one and had coffee on the top of the Double D while the kids practiced Oh Susannah. By the time we got back to our hotel they could do it by heart. Would definitely recommend for anyone who thinks theyre not musical, or wants to take home a lovely piece of folk art.
I bought my Woodrow online and at first was a little scared whenever I didnt get a tracking#, so I decided to message the company and I almost immediately got an Email back so I could get the information I needed. Excellent service.
A guest just came home with the coolest instrument made here in Asheville, a purple wooded Woodrow with a laser cut center. It had the most beautiful, mountainous tone & even for a beginner playing it, was quite enjoyable. I will be recommending this place to friends.
Great shop, beautiful instruments and very helpful staff. I bought one when visiting & had it shipped to Australia. It arrived this week and currently strumming away. The basics are pretty simple even for a non-musician like me!
Very exceptional instruments, and friendly and helpful staff.
How disappointed. Wanted to expose my 2 year old to music and the most rude person with an out of control poodle that went after my daughter and came within inches of biting her. She then made excuses and the staff did nothing. I called Animal control and will not step foot in there ever again.
Very nice
Easy to play.
Great!
