If the owners of Tree House Books were intending to replicate the experience of walking into a bookstore in Diagon Alley, then they have surely succeeded! This charming shop carries a robust selection of books catering mostly to children and the young adult crowd, along with stationery, cards, games, toys, clothing and a lot more surprises, tucked into every nook and cranny! This is the sort of place that is sorely needed in age of instant gratification and digital everything. Tree House Books shows a true appreciation for, and a celebration of, the wonderous analog media that is slowly being replaced by YouTube and emojis. Evocative in its ambiance, spaces like this help revive interest in the stories that are instrumental in producing educated, well-rounded and, most importantly, creative and free-thinking members of society. If you cant tell, Tree House Books really blew me away. There are a lot of bookstores out there, many of them slowly being crushed by the titans of the internet. Fortunately, even the mighty Amazons of the world have no power here. They shall not pass!I observed more than a dozen kids, dragging their parents behind them, fawning over virtually everything in the shop, especially the books. Seeing this filled me with joy, and the hopeful that, because of places like this, that magic still exists. Vivid are the imaginations that pass through these doors, becoming ever richer when they depart once more, hopefully armed with a bookbag full of thrilling tales, legends, and lore, waiting to be devoured by eager eyes and open minds.Five stars is not enough.
BEST SHOP EVER!!!!! I seriously cant say enough good things about this place. They are all about kids but have gifts for everyone. I have been very impressed recently that theyve continued their masking policy even as the state lifted it because they want children (still unable to be vaccinated) to be safe in their store. Thank you to the wonderful staff and owners
I could have spent hours in this store. Everywhere I looked there was a delightful surprise. The staff were so friendly - ask them about the gnome map!!
Jane was so helpful picking out a book for a young girl’s birthday gift. So very kind to gift wrap it also. Such a beautiful store!
This is my favorite store in all of ashland. i stop in at least once a month to check out all of their adorable trinkets and good selection of books. its got a magical, cute atmosphere and i always feel right at home
We love tree house. Friendly owners and great selection of books.
Treehouse books is a treasure. The management and staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. The gift wrapping is an amazing touch. If you’re looking to buy a special gift for a child in your life- this is the place to shop.
This is the cutest best book shoppe I have ever been in. You must stop in.
Really cute shop, loved the atmosphere. Found some of my favorite books and more there! 😍
Magical...what a wonderful shop! Something new around every nook. Great selection of childrens and young adult books. Tons of other treasures to search through. Friendly service. Cant wait to visit again!
Really cool shop lots of great books and lots of little cool trinkets everywhere.
Magical little bookstore. We had a great time looking at the wide variety of books and other miscellaneous items. What was particularly special was the gnome door on the steps that was holding a toy bee for our son after we left. What an amazing store.
Cute little childrens book store with classic and unique books, lots of fantasy items and small gifts. Some educational materials and quality coloring books as well. Small room for young adult/early chapter books, mostly fantasy. Some dress up items.
Wonderful to see a local bookshop still thriving! Fun place to bring the kids to get them excited about reading. The staff is friendly and great with reading suggestions.
A amazing family owned bookstore. They have a wide variety of books at a reasonable price. I have bought several books from there in great edition. They also have a gathering for kids who meet up once a week there to encourage local kids to continue using writing as a art form. They made a board game that helps you write your own books within a certain amount of days. You shouldnt be surprised if you walk in there to see a bunch of adults and kids of all ages in costumes acting out the stories they have all collaborated in writing. The owner, Jane is a sweet lady and clearly has a passion for books and children. They even sometimes allow the kids to volunteer at the store or work part time, and even the kids are polite and know what they are doing. The back room is small, but has a lot of character and friendly, inviting feel just like the rest of the store. However, the backroom is my favorite to go read. Its like a whimsical portal room and is often very quiet back there. If you still are into reading actual BOOKS instead of PDFs and willing to support small business, I highly recommend this book store.
I usually start there when I am looking for a gift for children. I also buy books there for my job as an EI teacher. They have an amazing assortment of books and will order it if they don’t have it. The store and it’s staff are knowledgeable, helpful, and fun! 📚📚📚
Bustling heart of Ashland with the very best customers in the world. Seriously. Extraordinary people walk thru that door every day. Grateful
For these people, it really is about the kids. It is a wonderful atmosphere conductive to reading, learning and using the imagination. It is not unusual to walk in there and see everyone in costumes. Besides being THE best childrens bookstores I have ever been in, they have activities, quests, and other challenges to keep kids interested in learning. Honestly, I wish I had had a place like this to go to when I was young. I might have turned out being a completely different person. A better one. This place is an asset to the community, and the schools ought to be glad that they are there. They are making a difference.
Always charming to visit this darling little bookstore. The selection is fantastic! With something for all ages and so many great gifts for children.
Adorable shop. The owner is very friendly as well as the staff. A fun place to experience and continue to go back.
Our family loves this store! Great gem in Ashland!
Magical place with books and gifts for all ages
There is a small room in the back that is like a whole young adult section. It is amazing. It is in an old bank vault and it is HEAVEN for any pre-teen, teen or even an adult lady like me who just loves YA lit. So great. I wish I could live here.
This is the best bookstore on the west coast.
We love this Ashlandia store! Such a lovely assortment of books, toys, gnomes and fairies abound💗
This is a charming bookstore that caters to the young and young at heart with books, some games, some art supplies, and lots of magic themed items. Very cool for Potter fans and others.
