I have never seen such a small Safeway in my life. Very congested neighborhood, but I easily got in and out for my gig work as I traveled through town on my way home to California. They could use a 2nd larger location on the other side of the train tracks, for those who need to buy more. This store is good for a quick in and out errand.
Amy is great and very helpful 👍Emily in the bakery is always so friendly 😊
Probably the most miserable grocery store crew I have ever seen in my life. I mean this franchise isn’t always the best but this one is sub-par. A grocery store should be a friendly place and this one with its slow checkers and lack of local selection makes me usually shop elsewhere.
Good prices for the most part. Selection is smaller than Albertsons
Great place only downside was the electric charging station was not wanting to work.
Freshest & highiest quality fruits & vegetables, best meat anywhere around. If you stick to the sale ads you can stock up on everything!! It can get expensive without their ads or coupons. Save $0.20 twenty cents off a gallon of gas when you have a Safeway card, theyre free just ask a cashier for one.
Expensive, then again it’s in Ashland. Everything is expensive. Good selection, friendly staff. Funky store layout makes finding things a bit tough. Accepts Apple Pay
I think this Safeway has some of the worst customer service I have ever had, from Oregon to California! I am floored because Ashland seems so happy and chill. The good news is they have a decent selection of items and I have been a few times this week, so I will look for another grocery store while I am here.
I really like this Safeway. Its well stocked, and it has a great deli. Besides the usual deli salads, you can get a custom sandwich. baked chicken, or fresh sushi. The sushi is made right there every morning. Great wine selection. They also have a nice little selection of beauty products. Very handy if youre traveling. Its a smaller store, but well considered offerings all around.
Two registers open at 6pm on a Friday. Lines wrapped around the aisles.
Short staffed, limited selection, its convenient but thats about it
You can get organic food, good groceries store, my son like it. Prices could be better.
Ordered a half sheet cake and got a quarter sheet. Cake was lopsided and deformed looking and the whipped icing was thin and cracked looking and wouldnt even hold the decorations up. I will not order another cake from this store
Wide inventory, well-stacked, helpful employees
Its a well stocked smaller safeway just like all the rest, but its the people who work here who make it great. I have been shopping here pretty much the entire pandemic and the crew of this Safeway goes well above and beyond to ensure customer safety and cleanliness.
People were nice workers, But it is a really depressing looking vibe not good ......just my thought
Love this safeway, love the selection, love the employees and location ♡
Very pleasant atmosphere and great customer service
Nothing to report here. Typical Safeway.
Was good.
Nice store. Not enough workers.
I wish there where more products to choose from that werent produced used commodity based foods with emphasis on shelf life and accelerated profit margins
Safeway is Safeway. Defininely not a Safe place gor the budget conscious. I guess there are worse places to shop on a budget. Say... The black market? Happy black his5ry month.
I LOVE SHOPPIN AT THE SAFEWAY STORE IN ASHLAND OREGON, THEY ALWAYS HAVE GOOD DEALS, THEIR RIGHT LOCATIONS IS RIGHT IN TOWN
Ashlands Safeway works! Might not find everything you need, but youll make a dent in your shopping list! Totally recommend.
Small grocery store. I am rating the bakery. It has cookie covered brownies...the best!
Went in yesterday for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised of how organized it was. I also loved the variety of fresh produce and many other things.
Store looks great, fresh produce, fresh meat seafood but expensive
Just a good grocery store. The wine department is very good also.
Clean, well stocked grocery with helpful staff.
Like the COVID practices here.
Trying to be a health food store so there is almost no products to buy. Lots of homeless that leave trash and weird trust fund men that are wingnuts.
Pretty good selection - nice people
I rarely go negative. that is because I am, generally a positive person. Why is it I almost always come away from any experience at this particular Safeway store feeling so negative? It isnt the other customers. They are almost always wonderful. Even some of the crew like the morning checker lady. The kid at night that works the register. They are great people. The issue is systemic, in my opinion. From the top down. To quote Former President Jimmy Carter, there is a Malaise that permeates this store and it stems from management. The fact that the Customer Srevice desk provides no customer service. Even during the limited time it is in operation. 11AM-7PM.It is a sad unfriendly place, aside from a coupke if bright spots. It is a store that caters to their oen whims. Not the needs of the local customers. Like the way they treat, even a local, long time shopper. I spend on average $400 a month here only because I live a block & a half away. If I lived 2 blocks away I eould spend zero. The way I sm treated when when I go to recycle cans & bottles is criminal. That is if I can make it when the bottke & can return is open. This is not a full service store. It us a self serving store. These issues must be fixed or who cares shut it down for good. We dont need the attitudes. Just my opinion. If you see me on my Segway at the store say Hi Mike Holmes!Ill be gracious to you. Unlike a majority of the staff.
I love this Safeway. Beautiful fruits and vegetables. Deli has a lot of options. And the meat and fish departments are fresh and great choices.Knowledgeable employees, Ray, Susan and Bob. Thanks guys!
Extremely fresh and tasty food. The freshest I have tasted on the west coast. Wonderful. Wont give 5 stars because grocery shopping here broke the bank.
Way to spendy. Way. Way to spendy.
Staff is always really friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. I do all my food shopping here. Even the meat is dated properly
Would be nice to shop and not not wait in such long lines when the cashiers are having a conversation with one person. It is a female and a male that do this.
8:26 a.m.The recycling machine is finally ready to be utilized.Utterly pathetic. 😂8:08 a.m.Still needing maintenace. Ridiculous.Update:It is 8:01 a.m. and the recyling macine is down and needing maintenace.Unacceptable.Getting them to maintenace the recycling machines is like pulling teeth with children at a dentist office.
Very nice store with an excellent selection. Alejandro is the best employee. He remembers my name and is patient with me as I am old and senile.
It is clean and bright. This store feels more like a boutique market then a full grocery store.
One of nations other greatest Safeways. It is said that many of our communities greatest hardworking everyday people and educational minds frequent this location. The legends of old of our heritage. Lots of cool multicultural products and the most wonderful pricing and floral arrangements. Also a Starbucks inside. Fine fruits, vegetables, breads, meats and beverages. Whoa dont get lost with all the cool stuff. Heaven for a quick purchase or a day out with someone you love.
Great renovation of a long-time older Safeway. Newer version has great butcher case with fresh wild caught fish and prime meats. Excellent deli with meats & cheeses and serving fresh sandwiches. Bakery serves beautiful cakes, small, large and large cupcake size, all decadent. Great wine selection, both local and international. Very attentive service from all employees 😄👍
Unfortunately people here dont follow the one way signs and also they cant enforce masks once folks are inside shopping. Usually only 2 cashier out of the dozen registers available. I have to say, most of my issues here is with customers v.s. the store itself. Hope people can read signs again soon and respect peoples wishes
Always a good place to quickly get a few things.
Clean, airy convenient.
Love safeway in Ashland!! Great staff, great selections for being a small store.
It has a good selection
Be nice to the checkers there! And wear your mask!
Went in today with my son so get some fried chicken and a couple other things from the deli. When I walked up to the deli counter it was swarming with flies. There were flies on deli meats and salads. There was a big swarm of them all around the hot deli case. Needless to say we left without buying any chicken or deli items.
Great produce, competitive prices. This store is clean, organized and attractive. They have pretty good sales as well. We do a good amount of shopping here.
Everything you need!
Central location, prices almost good for Ashland, good selection, busy location.
The store has a lot of unique items for sale. My favorite I found was a Sockeye Maple smoked salmon in the meat department. Even though its pricey I ended up buying $60 worth. Best salmon Ive ever had. I challenge you to go try it. All the shows were stocked very well even though its not a very big Safeway. They also had a lot of different choices just not a whole lot of any one item. I like stores like that cuz its easier to get around and it doesnt feel like its a huge department store. Overall this store has a feeling of a family-owned business. Wonderful people work there and they were very helpful.
I had high hopes for this Safeway when they reopened because I live nearby, but almost every one of my visits is a disappointment. It is basically a giant convenience store with very few groceries of substance unless you want to buy wine or beer. And the prices are so high you might as well go to The Coop or Market of Choice, which have better products and more selection.
I go here almost everyday. The place is clean, well organized, and the staff is really nice. Not to mention all the great lunch options for under $5. The only downside is theres no school supplies
The items are a little pricey but this Safeway is good if you need to buy essentials, and is located within walking distance of the SOU campus, so its very convenient for students to shop for groceries and other necessities, even if they dont have a car. If youre looking to do a real grocery shopping trip, going into Medford to the Costco or Winco might be more worth your while but if you need just a few items and you dont want to drive for 15-20 minutes, Safeway may be just what youre looking for.
This Safeway had a facelift a cpl years ago and they carry exotic fruits that I cant find elsewhere locally...
Its to small to keep a 6foot distant the isles are to dam thin
Small store but well run. Produce always seems fresh and well stocked. Same for the deli dept.
Clean and well lit this Safeway offers everything. Good store to stop for a sandwich or do your shopping. Staff helpful and friendly. They make cakes and deli to order or have pre packaged items on rack. Good prices and clean throughout. They also can order items you need if they dont have them on shelf. Very nice clean store to shop in.
Good fresh produce selection. Nice size and overall offerings. Good prices for the area.
Love the cashiers there really friendly have a nice produce section store is a little on the smaller side but its still got a great selection of items. Also monopoly is currently going on I personally have a blast playing I won a $25 Safeway giftcard so far.
A small clean grocery store close to all the little Ashland shops. The prices are very reasonable. I liked the fresh hot food from the deli as a cheaper alternative too some of the pricier local restaurants.
This store is pretty well maintained but the lines are usually long at check out.
Inflated prices across the board
A bit chaotic a bit expensive and a bit crowded
Its very expressive and organized in a weird way
I feel like I have to rate this highly because Im here sometimes two or three times a day, and if anyone that works there found out that I didnt give Safeway 5 stars I might not hear about it, but I would certainly pay the price eventually. LOL. But thankfully I only I want to sing praises for Safeway, because you could say maybe its not perfect, but it is a wonderful resource to have, the prices are good, and they have very good hours for a small town like this. And I have to also say, Ive seen the same people working there for years. They are definitely doing something right. You might have to head to the coop for some of the fancier organics or homeopathic stuff.
Its clean Lowe prices good manners working people
LOVE this Safeway, never been to a more welcoming grocery store. I can honestly say that I enjoy and have fun going to this location!
Clean, friendly service, and great prices
Beautiful clean the friendly store. A longtime treasurer in the city of Ashland and glad it is back on top. Convenient and very high quality.
Poor selection, overpriced everything might as well go to market of choice or the co-op. And the management is terrible as well as rude. Only a few select employees are nice and pleasant. I will never shop at a Safeway store ever again because of the way they treated me. And I was a regular who was willing to over look the overpriced poor selection of food until the way they treated me today. And it wasnt the first time I was treated that, but it sure will be the last. No more Safeway me.
Always clean and well organized.
Fast, pleasant, some excellent deals for a quick and tasty lunch, bus stop right out front. friendly staff, short lines. I had a chicken tamale, soda, and strawberry shortcake dessert for about $5 (dessert was on sale)
All around a okay Safeway to go to in Medford
This place is ok... not the best to shop at. Incorrectly bagged my cake with produce and the cashier gave attitude as I corrected my own bags. Fred Meyers will now have my business.
Staff are so friendly at check out! Cool little grocery Store.
Fast service and no issues!
Older building, but newly renovated inside. Great Safeway just like most others. Friendly staff and almost no line up. Has clean public washroom at the back of the store.
Lots of checkers, very short lines. There isnt a huge selection, but they have most of the stuff you would expect from a mid-sized grocery store. They have a large variety of gluten free food.
The people here are always friendly and more than willing to help when theyre there. However, the last time I was at the service counter to get money orders, it took 10 minutes and asking a cashier twice to get someone to the counter who could help me. Other than that, Safeway is my favourite place in Ashland to shop!
I just dont get the appeal. Sure, the remodeled. However, it feels like they just slapped lipstick on a pig. While the beer and wine section is extensive, they will harass you to buy whatever they bought too much of. I went in for stouts and kept getting talked to about rose even after I told them I hated rose. (I love a good rose, but this looked like kool-aid and I couldnt get them to shut up.)The produce selection is atrocious. Even things that are in season locally look terrible. I dont understand how the entire produce selection can look like it belongs at a gas station in Nebraska in January.Local bakers? Youll find almost none here, and their prices are way higher than the exact same item elsewhere in town. The same goes for Rogue Creamery cheeses. Theyre literally over $5 more than any other store in town.If you do manage to see something you want, the shelves will probably be empty. The deli isnt as vegetarian-friendly as the AFC or Market of Choice, and the employees couldnt tell you anything about how their foods are made.Literally the only redeeming quality is the Starbucks, but the one downtown is more efficient and consistent, and their employees are friendlier.
Nice clean store. They have sushi made there fresh everyday. Love their bakery items.
Large, newly remodeled store. Great selection including organic and gluten-free foods. Friendly, helpful staff.
Great selection. Good buys if you have coupons.
Place is really pleasant to be in since it has reopened! The management must be doing something right- all the staff are cheerful, knowledgeable and helpful. The sushi person is great, she is very friendly and will make what you want if it isnt in the lower fridge thing there (most grocery stores around here seem to have an issue with made-to-order sushi for some reason?) If its like this in a year (after the grand opening buzz) it will be officially the best corporate grocery in Ashland. Good prices on most stuff too...
Thank you to the person who turned in my bags that I left in the cart. High end store with lots of selection.
Bright, open, airy, and big! Closes later than surrounding stores. Nice wine and beer selection; no liquor.
Great store, with friendly and helpful employees. Extremely clean and well stocked. A lot more organic/natural products than before. Huge wine selection.
Pretty much the worst Safeway at being a Safeway ever. Very neat and clean, looks pretty as well, but thats not why I go to Safeway. Everything was extremely expensive and the normal convinces are hidden behind shelves overpriced yuppie garbage. If youre on vacation and have some disposable income this place will be great for you.
The store in and of itself is ok, but every time I go there I leave thinking why in the world the manager seems to pay zero attention to the terrible customer service skills of the staff? It ranges from mild attitude to downright apathy or outright rudeness, from the cashiers to the deli. Its gotten to the point that I only go here if I need something conventional in a hurry.Reading the other reviews, this seems to be a chronic issue. Management pay attention!
The only grocery store I will go to in Ashland. I don’t do my big shopping trips here but they’re quick if I just need a couple of things.
Its had a nice makeover since I lived here last ( about 10 years ago ). Looks very nice. The addition of a starbucks was a nice touch too.
Beautifully updated in recent years. One star docked for not having the item I wanted, though I admit it remains a bit of a specialty item.
I hardly ever leave reviews, but we had such a positive experience I felt like I needed to. We went into the Ashland Safeway where we were greeted by a young man named Stephen, who immediately helped us when we had a question. After our shopping (being strategic with using all of our coupons) we went through Stephens line. Our coupons had many issues and, though we caused the transaction to take 5-10 minutes, Stephen was extremely patient and kind. He apologized to US for the wait, though it was no fault of his. Not once did he make us feel bad for taking so long and he thanked us for our dedication to Safeway. We will definitely come back because of such great customer service! Thank you!
