Just meandering and found this treasure. We had the beef sammie and butternut squash soup. The sandwich? Tasty with dip and a seasoned horseradish. Plenty of food for two people! The soup was very good! Perfect on a cool coastal afternoon. Plenty of outdoor seating. Right now working on remodeling bathroom. Hopefully not the case when you visit. Nice and local!
My boyfriend and I had dinner at Astoria Coffee House the last time we were in town and the prime rib was amazing it came with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. This time we had surf and turf, the steak was perfect seasoned just right, garlic mashed potatoes and this time asparagus. It was amazing all was cooked perfectly and the flavors were awesome.
Pretty good overall. The gluten-free cupcakes are Not my favorite. Best with a large glass of milk and a fork. However the lunch specials are usually great.
If you’re out early on the streets of Astoria, be sure and drop by the bistro! This is so much more than a coffee nook. The breakfast menu is awesome. I recommend the breakfast burrito! It was a nice meeting of Mexican flavor with an American flair to it. A delicious way to start the day!I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the coffee as well as a broad range of juices and and combos. Everything I tried was delicious and the menu is surprisingly rich with choices! There’s plenty of outdoor seating as well.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that they automatically charge an 18% tip to your credit card! The definition of a tip is a sum of money given to someone as a reward for their services. it wouldn’t be automatically! The audacity of it is bs. Good food though if you want to pay an arm and a leg for eggs.
What wonderful people! The lady came out and greyed my grandmother and made her feel so good! Cant thank you enough forthe wonderful experience!
Great place ... Sitting limited but worth it ...
Eaten here a couple times. Be ready to wait for a while to receive your food if it’s busy. And it is pretty overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food you get, definitely targeted at weekenders. It’s not bad, just not really worth it when there are so many better options for similar prices. Coffee is good. Currently take-out only, but there is outside seating on a busy sidewalk next to a busy road. Oh yeah…not sure if he works there or not, but the guy loading in produce was a complete jerk to the people in line today (glaring, shaking his head, and making little comments as he tried to get through - it’s not our fault you came during the lunch rush buddy!).
Will never be back. Rude Rude Rude!!! Came for coffee and asked when lunch was served. She said 11:30. Came back at 12 and rudely was told the kitchen was closed. Pretty sure she was lying through her teeth. Who closes their food on a Saturday. I have worked customer service for many years and I understand bad days but blatant rude and slow service is wrong.
Whenever were in Astoria we stop in to get coffee. Nice folks, good coffee and baked goods. Nice outdoor seating.
Multiple vegan options. The vegan soup of the day was fantastic.
Nice vibe in Astorias historic town center. Sidewalk seating was nice and the shop very open. There is a mandatory 18% gratuity if you use a credit or debit card. This seemed high for a place without table service.
So the lady in front was very curt but whatever. However, after waiting 15 minutes for a half salad, I got home to find that the salad was the most pathetically small thing with the BACON missing (which is the only redeeming factor of salads to begin with.) On top of that, they require a 18% tip if you use card which is just a way to make you pay cash so they don’t need to report income or to force you to pay more for half the service...wouldn’t go again during covid at least. The only good thing was the macaron we got but one small macaron doesn’t make up for the ripped off feeling I got.
Amazing food, wonderful customer service, just an amazing place! HIGHLY recommend!!
Food was good but no one told us that the wait is close to one hour
Avoid this shop, plenty of better places nearby that dont try to guilt you into tipping obscene amounts. Okay for cafe items only, but DO NOT come here for a meal. The food takes an exceptionally long time (25 minutes for a sandwich) and they now use an extremely predatory checkout practice that is so rude to customers (they have a small sign that is easy to miss that says, unless otherwise stated, 18% gratuity will be added to all orders). What kind of backwards guilt tripping BS is that...? Ive genuinely never seen a food venue do that unless they are an upscale restaurant or a restaurant dealing with larger parties. It is an insanely unprofessional business practice, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR FROM A BUSINESS. I love tipping, but when you force it down my throat with a guilt trip it ruins the entire dining experience. This place no longer reflects the review status it currently has.
Quaint, and great coffee with mucho delicioso pastries. I will find my way here for sure next time Im in Astoria.
Tried the bahn mi and turkey blt... Very disappointed.
So cute! Breakfast was delicious! Love the quaint coffee shop feel.
I had a nice breakfast there. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. It was colorful and full of familiar flavors. It also had nice ripe avocado chunks in it too. Black Beans, lovely rice, corn, purple onion, tomatoes and avocado with salsa and a couple eggs. It was nice. I was confused about why they are automatically adding an 18% gratuity when they dont have a waitstaff and you order and pick up your order at the counter where you pay....that seems pretty unethical to me.
Most delicious Hazelnut White Mocha, ever!
Unfortunately expected so much more. I guess with covid this place does not live up to its reputation. So, when things are normal again it can go back hopefully. Its fine for coffee and a scone but not for meals. They dont have a restroom for patrons and send you 5 blocks away to a public one which was clean but man of you have to go your in trouble. Just being honest and letting others know.
Awesome food there wuz a wait tho long wait
Best breakfast sandwiches in town with veggie options available. Very clean spot with a large variety of coffee/espresso drinks. The best part about it was the cashier/waiter! So kind and helpful! I highly recommend this little cafe!
We loved the food and nice employees, food was served pretty damn fast.
The best burger I have ever had.. omg.. Im local and this is my first time eating here... definitely coming back
In my top 5 of local coffee! Cant get enough! They know how to brew it!P. S. thier dessert and breakfast treats are bomb! They also do hot meals and it takes a little bit for them to cook them because they are freshly made and they are really close to the best! Definitely delicious!
Exceptional attitude, We got there too late for dinner, But the pastries to go were delicious
Overpriced and not that good. Makes you sit outside despite other restaurants allowing indoor dining.
Great black coffe. Prices are reasonable and food is good.
Nice atmosphere; eclectic and hip and charming. The service was not very friendly, which was a bit odd. Had a Mexican hot chocolate, which wasnt very hot, but had decent flavor. For breakfast I ordered the chicken and biscuits and it was tasty, but could have used some more umpf. Overall, it was ok.
Really good food. I had the poke delicios with generous portions of tuna, mango, and avocado. The wine was expensive. I wish I had known before I got it. Really though how many cafes have wine? Overall thats is a fun unusual choice.
Wow! Take out only right now but we ate on the patio and what a delightfully French café experience we had. We enjoyed a freshly made almond croissant with our flavored coffees— vanilla rose for me and a pistachio white choc for a pistachio fiend. French toast came out piping hot with lingonberries and orange zest. Oh my goodness!! Our single order was huge and plenty to share. I lusted over the bakery case with the largest peanut butter cookies I’ve ever seen and lots of beautiful locally made macarons. Don’t miss their globe collection for a bit of fun nostalgia. Don’t miss this sweet spot!
My favorite restaurant in my beloved hometown. Six things: 1. Jimbo is made to be in the restaurant business. I dont know how he does it, but he is always working hard AND being welcoming host at once. 2. The food is consistently wonderful. 3. (One of my favorite things about The Bistro): They always take care to make it beautiful. Its not just healthy and delicious; it is artful food. 4. The casual atmosphere, roll-up door, and sidewalk seating are great. 5. Energetically, The Bistro feels like the heart of Astoria. 6. I can think of three dozen restaurants that charge the same amount, but are not anywhere near as good. Great value.Youll love this special place.
Astoria Coffee House always kills it! I find myself coming back for their egg salad sandwich…I know egg salad?!? but it’s so dang yummy!!! Came for dinner tonight and it was great! We had a House Salad, Thai Stir Fry and the Korean Beef Stir Fry! Big portions and pricing reflects what you get. Really great togo food experience! They charge an 18% gratuity on card transactions. Makes me sad that people don’t tip on togo orders; there’s a lot of work put into sourcing and creating the food that goes on the menu here and it tastes like it! 18% is a fair and average tip for what goes into just putting together their togo service.Overall great place to eat! Also try the turmeric chai latte 10/10.
Amazing filling fish tacos. Hot cashiers too. Too bad they dont have access to a restroom, they send you somewhere across the block, I dont know, I wasnt listening. Peed behind the building
Really good service and yummy yummy food. I got the Japanese egg salad and was wonderful. Hubby got a burger and said it was full of flavor and yumminess.. definitely a good place to eat.
This bistro/bar is located right off the main drag in Astoria near the riverfront. There is almost always parking outside. The decor and ambiance is hipster-chic and the staff there was terrific. It was a little pricey for what it is - figure an average of $19/person before drinks. With all that said, they have perhaps the best burger and fries I have ever had (pictured). I loved everything about it. If you like burgers, get their Backyard Burger - you wont regret it.
Vanilla rose latte is good but otherwise this wasnt a great experience. If youre going to add automatic gratuity for toasting a bagel and then plopping it in a to-go box with a blob of cream cheese, lox, and other toppings without including a knife, at least have the courtesy of telling me thats what youre going to do so I can take myself somewhere else. The bagel was meh as well and the guy behind the counter just kept telling me he couldnt hear me without consideration to maybe turn down his music.
Coffee was very good but line was out the door. It took about 45 minutes to get my coffee
A+! Match lattes are top notch, hot or cold!
I was a little disappointed with this place because I saw high reviews. Maybe I just ordered the least tasty thing on the menu. The service was very friendly and the food was okay. The burger was pretty dry and nothing special. The clam chowder had okay flavor but seemed like it had been sitting on the warmer for quite a while. The fries were tasty and so were the biscuits they served before eating. The atmosphere was hip and the presentation of the food was very lovely. Nothing to write home about though. Just okay at best.
I highly recommend this local gem. Whether youre a local or tourist, go here! My take out breakfast burrito was excellent - very fresh and amazing flavors. Everything is homemade using quality ingredients. Jim Defeo, the proprietor and chef, was very friendly and accomodating.
I enjoy the 5 buck lunches. I practically go everyday. My favorite is the turkey bacon club. Thank you very much for offering great meals.
This is a fantastic place! The food is so good that we will always plan to stop by anytime we are in Astoria! Try it! You’ll be hooked!
Great food. Definitely doggie friendly, great atmosphere.
First time trying the food and coffee, i got the koren beef bowl and it was amazing, will definitely come back for this, friendly service and good coffee also
This was a fine little coffee shop that makes a great mocha they have really great food offerings to and outdoor seating to accommodate the current environment
The coffee was great, great breakfast burrito and egg sandwich with lots of bacon. Great little find. The service was great as well. The wait for the food was a little longer than I thought but when the food came it was hot and fresh so I was good with it. Well worth it.
Good stuff! Love their prime rib meals and desserts. Great service! Thank you for staying open and practicing safe service during the pandemic
The is the best place to eat is Astoria!! Literally everything on the menu is good. I eat here waaay too often. The staff is incredibly friendly. I wish I could give this place 50 stars.
Rude. Waited to be greeted, because of Covid and proper distancing. We were the only two people in the shop. The people behind the counter had a full on, unrelated to business chit chat. They looked up three times, made eye contact with us and kept talking amongst themselves. I should have left.
Grabbed a delicious gluten free & vegan chocolate cupcake during my visit to Astoria and it was delectable! Awesome service and yummy baked goods!
Waited forever for food and I get it understaffed...main complaint..bathrooms 5 blocks away...public ...not clean service the homeless population ...not convenient at all esp for disabled...bad weather...kids ..they should at least have a sign out so guests aware of their decision...better food all over town anyway
Easily my favorite food in Astoria. Wonderful staff too😁
Just moved to Astoria and have found Astoria Coffee House & Bistro - it will definitely be one of our favorite go-to spots - the coffee is excellent, the sandwiches are great, and their evening menu has been phenomenal. Thank you, Astoria Coffee House & Bistro for making our transition extra yummy!
Excellent food and service!
FINALLY a great coffee shop. We were traveling through Astoria and stopped by for dinner here and afterwards went for coffee here, the espresso is delicious. They use Cafe Vita beans which are locally roasted (Seattle roasted). The interior is awesome too with great lighting and a huge open garage bay door if it’s a good day!
Had the prime rib melt and it was so tasty! everything was all melted together and yummy. I usually am picky with caramelized onions especially if they are made with red onion but theirs was absolutely delicious. Perfectly caramelized. My au jus was cold, but I could tell the flavor was lovely so dipped my sammy in it regardless. Will definitely be back! Service was also great, gentlemen who rang us up was really kind and the cook in the back was working his tail off!
Was looking for a place to get breakfast. The reviews are mixed, but after seeing that they tip themselves, I will never go. It should be up to the customer how big a tip the server gets.
Pulled pork sandwich to die for. My guests loved their burgers. Keep it coming!
Excellent food, larger menu than I first realized. Great vegan dinner options!
Good coffee, fluffy biscuits, and wes anderson aesthetics
I’ve been duped...Not only was this place rude, unfriendly, slow and not worth the wait of 45 minutes for a breakfast burrito when was it a thing that 18% gratuity was added automatically if using a credit card. Most people wouldn’t know they were doing this because it’s not explained to you as you’re paying. You have to look closely to the little sign next to the register that says they’re adding the 18%. Wow! Just whoa. Doesn’t seem right. The coffee wasn’t anything special either.“I just got robbed by a little old lady, on a motorized cart....And I didn’t even see it coming”
Great place to have a good cup of coffee and chat with friends. Small area with a few chairs is dog friendly and wonderful pastries are available to go with your coffee and conversation :)
Ive now been fortunate enough to visit ACH&B twice, and unfortunate to have only visited twice in 10 years. Such an amazing space, amazing coffee. No trip to Astoria is complete without a visit!
So recently they had some Gluten free and vegan cupcakes and I bought all four...they were amazing!!! I ate two while I gave two to two coworkers to try to show them not all the food I have to eat because of my allergies is bad :) I look forward to continue watching for new stuff from them!!
Great late and desert
