I gotta give this a 1 star review took in a Xbox one controller and a game because I no longer have that system they denied the game no biggie however the controller had 1 scratch on it and they docked me 5 dollars for a refurb send off due to 1 scratch being on the controller mind you that is how I bought the controller used from them when I got it so unfortunately even though its 5 dollars I wont ever go back to the Athens GameStop you pay a arm and a leg and any little thing wrong with it like scratch they dock you I m good everybody should avoid this location

I called several times on new years day to see if they were open and nobody answered the phone. I happened to be out running errands and saw they were open, cool. I stopped in, talked to the guy up front and they were out of stock of the item I needed (XB1 controller)Thats not the reason for my rating. I get that happens and it doesnt bother me. What bothered me was the fact that every time the phone rang, he silenced it. He did not attempt to answer it even once. I get that they were busy but that is just plain unacceptable. I wont be back to this location for awhile. I would rather buy online than give someone my money that ignores me.

Friendly service with fair prices.

Excellent service here. Iv got three kids age 12, 9, and 3 and they always help them and talk with them.

It’s bigger on the inside! On top of that, the service is great. I’ve been a couple of times just to browse.

The only reason they stay in business is because theres no where else to go. And they know that. Its a shame.

This store is clean and well-stocked. The staff are professional, friendly, and happy to assist customers. Their product selection is vast, and the product displays are easily accessible and a great way for customers like me to learn about new games and products.

I come here every so often and they employees are always nothing but nice and down to earth with me

Store was well stocked and clean. Staff was helpful without being pushy. My only complaint is that there are no outside lights on this building so, if visiting in the evening it seems sort of sketchy in the dark parking lot. If there are lights, they have never been on when Ive been there.

Just had a great experience at this store! Honestly, this is probably my first good experience there. They were never terrible but I always left with the feeling that it was not a great as other locations (my wife and I lived in a couple different states).I explain,Stopping by the GameStop was for awhile part of our fun-running-errands-routine until we moved to Athens. We even let our pro- membership expire, because, although the store is huge and pretty good, we never felt as connected as we felt in other locations.Well, until tonight. I showed alone to trade-in some games we haven’t touched in months for a trade in card. I said this because I was not there to buy anything. The transaction required a manager to be called for some discrepancy on the values. Here’s why I’m writing this review, I’m used to people not giving me the benefit of the doubt, I’m not your most friendly looking person, standing at 6’6” and black (I’ve been fingerprinted at a GameStop before - might have been policy but, pretty frustrating). The manager and the associate was extremely helpful; the associate was a bit lost as the situation seemed new but the manager was unbelievable! I was ready to take the loss as to be honest I just needed to get out of the house, but the manager wanted to make sure I’d leave the store with an explanation. I did and he honored the values I was expecting.I know this may not be a big deal; but I work with people and I know the cost of making someone feel valued when you have to make sure they are not trying to take advantage of you. And I know how people usually act around me. It made my day!Not sure game stop is your store but if you’re looking for games - before going to the bigger store next to it, try to show some support to those folks who are really committed to do a good job!

Staff was very helpful. I bought a used xbox one from them and they checked it before officially selling it to me and so far it works fine.Staff was honest about used goods. They appear to check equipment before sale which the gamestop in Columbus did not when I was there.

This is the best Gamestop around this area. The staff at Athens is always friendly and willing to help and answer questions and they will help with whatever they can.

Best place in town for second hand game titles

Complicated atmosphere. They need someone who speaks Old and Community College. I had a lot of money to spend and I got scared when they sold me pre-owned. I didnt know that they gave me a good deal, but, I WANTED ALL NEW STUFF

A big GameStop with awesome staff and a great selection.

We visit this GameStop so much, we know most of the employees by name and theyre familiar with us. Theyre very welcoming to customers, especially us. If you need help, theyll help you.

The staff are alway friendly and quick to help. The price on some of the merc is high. The place is clean and well lit and very well stocked.

Great place to trade in used games you longer want. Some of the employees are helpful and some are not. That is their hit and miss opportunities.

The past couples of times Ive been here, it sucked. What happened?Will, the first time I went in and *gasp* traded in a whole bunch of stuff to get Marvel Ultimate Alliance on the Switch as will as some eshop giftcards for a game coming out in the coming weeks. The sales person/ manager really really tried pushing the warranty on me. Pretty much tried to add it after I even said no about 5 times. I caught it before the transaction was finalized but still...that put me off.The next stop I went in to pick up Fire Emblem:The Three Houses for Switch. Now part is my fault, I hadnt pre-ordered it and probably should have, but I didnt have the time to pre-order, nor did I think I would have the money to pay for it. Turns out I had a ton of Rewards Points and could get it that way. (Another story there on gaining access to those points.) So, I went in and they had the box for the game sitting out on the shelves. Which means they usually have it right? WRONG! Online, the app, all places showed the game in stock even. I went up to the counter where this same manager/ sales person was and he seemed more interested in this video him and his co-worker where watching on a phone. I placed the case on the counter and his response was; Im sorry I dont have any copies left, but I will check While half-hardheartedly looking in his drawers for a copy. He then motioned to a copy sitting on the counter saying that was the only copy he had and it was a pre-order, mind you this is 3 days after release....I thought it was a 48 hour hold or what Ive been told then you get your money back or use it for something else....ok. Fine. Can you check other store inventory to see if anyone close has a copy? I was ignored. I looked briefly around the store as I had already redeemed my points for in store funds. The Manager just went back to the video he was watching not seemingly at all interested in selling me anything. I just walked out and headed to another store.I will not be going to this store anymore. I used to frequent it a lot in the past, but this just puts me off. Dont want my business fine, Ill go elsewhere. No wonder Gamestop is falling.

Great pre-owned game deals.. awesome pop culture collectables..but stay away from refurbished systems and dont trade in or sell them anything..all GameStops though

Quick in and out every time

Just traded in 25 games today and got $31 in return. i took a look at my receipt, the man gave me 0.78 cents for MW3, 0.86 cents for BO2, and 0.62 cents for Battle Field 3 (all in perfect condition with the exception of a couple minor scratches). And when i asked why, he started rambling off excuses and technicalities that made absolutely no sense as to why a $60 game 4 years ago, now only costs 0.62 cents. And also when i asked for his honest opinion on if i should sell the games separately to friends or not and get more money, he again gave me statistics and excuses on why that would not be a good idea, even though him and i both know i could have gotten every bit of $60 out of 10 games. Terrible service, very unfriendly and awkward. This is the last time i will deal with any GameStop again. If i could give a negative star rating, i would.

The staff are helpful and friendly. The parking can be cumbersome at times being that GameStop shares his parking lot with Kroger

After returning my game I only had for less then 30 days they gave me only 17.00 back for it after paying 42.00 and they gave me 50.00 back for a 60.00 pre order and then I bought madden 15 and got home and the disc didnt work after calling they said I would have to pay extra for a disc that dosent work I am beyond angry with this company after being ripped off I am done shopping there for good dont get ripped off like I did go buy your games else where by far worst time I have ever had with a company I am reporting this to the bbb hopefully itll have some impact on this company...!
