What a great experience and friendly and superb customer service. I got everything I wanted as well as explanation from the lovely lady owner on how to make Doro wot. It came out amazing. Highly recommend this store. Will be back
By far the best Habesha market. I was ordering things off line & would go to Eyrus which I love. This location is closer to me. I love it!
Was so taken by her help, I forgot to get her name. I had so many questions and felt like I had my own personal shopper. From spices to art, the place had what I needed, whether its to make my own blend or prepared, they had it. Grateful.
The best place for Ethiopian items. We found everything we needed. The employees were very friendly and informative.
Im learning how to cook Ethiopian food but was missing ingredients. This is a wonderful store, they had everything I needed. I was afraid they wouldnt have the hard to find herbs I needed for spiced butter but they had everything and more. The gentlemen there was so helpful in getting me just the right spices I needed and even how to store and use the injera. Ill definitely be back.
Berbere, shiro, injera...everything you need! And the samosas were amazing! God bless
This store is like a “little Ethiopia”! It reminds me so much of home—so authentic! You will find everything you need here!! Officially my new favorite store.
Nice variety of stuff in the store, I really love myrrh so Im glad they had little bags of it! The lady in the front was so sweet and helpful! May the Lord Bless her! If you can, visit and support this store!
The best ethoipa shop!
This is by far one of the best ethiopian grocery/anything stores Ive ever gone too. The owner was very friendly. I went in with my daughter and her four children and he never yelled at the kids for touching and answered all of my daughters unending questions. I bought several things from there because I was moving out of state which included a ethiopian coffee pot. When I decide to use it, I found that it had a crack in it so I cant use it😔 and they are not exactly cheap. So my suggestion is if you buy the clay pot check it out first for cracks. I couldnt bring it back because Im 800 miles away and I also am craving my injeria 😔
The owner seems very kind and gentle. I stopped in to buy some injera and he advised me which pack to choose. When I got home and had some, it was so soft and fresh. He even gave me tips on how to store it since I mentioned it was more than I needed. It was perfect with my lentils. I will definitely be back. :)
I visited Merkato Market for the first time today, and I was extremely impressed. The service was excellent!!!
By far one of the Best Ethiopian market in the city. They pretty much have everything you’ll need to cook or create a cultural experience in your home. The customer service was top notch. I was greeted warmly and my questions answered. I highly recommend this store and will be back again.
Visited Merkato Market today for the first time. I was greeted by a very friendly gentleman who was very helpful and knowledgeable. He took me around the store and guided me to everything I was looking for. He even took time to assist me with the name of a recipe I was looking for and wrote it for me. I was also super impressed by the selection of products and also the cleanliness of the store. I will definitely be back and have found my new favorite Ethiopian market place! Thank you and keep up the excellent work sir!
By far the most authentic Ethiopian grocery store in Atlanta probably in the United States. I was visiting Atlanta for ASA conference and exploring Ethiopian market. I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality of the market. A bit pricey but absolutely fresh products and stellar service. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone interested in Ethiopian spices and a plethora of different things including books.
We recently moved to the area from Los Angeles and we are delighted we found this beautiful store with great customer service. Zewedu, the owner has welcomed us to the community and recommended a handyman to install our TV. Thank you Zewedu!
So glad to be able to visit an Ethiopian store on my trip! I was able to find the spices and dishes I wanted and there were many other neat finds to look at! The owner was very helpful and friendly! Great place!
Great experience. I drive 20 minutes just to go get one thing there. The service is great and you feel the good energy when you walk in.
Very friendly and helpful proprietor! Wonderful find for Ethiopian recipe ingredients.
Merkato Market is the best Ethiopian market in Atlanta, hands down. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the kind owner. He made my whole shopping experience very enjoyable. As I left, the owner mentioned that the market will be relocated about 1 mile from its current location at the intersection of Clairmont and Buford hwy beginning on July 1st. I will definitely be going back soon.
This is really Ethiopia! You can find anything that is from Ethiopia. Love the hospitality and help from the shop owner.
Wonderful business and service provided always! The new store is very organized, and clean. I LOVE IT! Thank you for updating Google with your new address as well ill always come to your store :)
Conveniently located on Buford Hwy & Clairmont, this store has got everything you need when it comes to grocery items for Ethiopians. The service is quite at a higher bar and he makes sure that you are well taken care of. Highly recommend it.
I came in, not really knowing which ingredients I needed to successfully make shiro and tibs. He helped me out step by step and made sure I had everything I need to cook. He helped me so much and he didn’t pressure me at all to purchase unnecessary items. Good business man with reasonably priced items.
I found a lot to appreciate about Merkato. The service was excellent and I felt welcomed. I searched the loaded aisles in the tight space and I still dont feel like I found everything. I ended up leaving with unique, useful books, spices, gifts and (the reason I came) KOLO! The kolo comes in small and large resealable pouches, and it is my favorite mix so far.I want to lift up the bread; after a couple minutes in the oven, it is moist and savory delicious. Dont pass it up if you are offered.Everything I, as an admirer of Ethiopian culture and history was in the store and more. The shopkeeper was helpful and super pleasant.
Incredibly friendly owner, and very high quality food. We are now regulars and get injera and Ethiopian spice mixes there often. Its a pleasure to shop there.
Great guy stoped by to get berbere from out of town.
Wonderful service, fresh injera, dried legumes and grains, as well as modestly priced spices and spice mixes (like berbere). Perfect place to go when youre trying to learn how to cook Ethiopian food and you have no idea how. The clerk have me some pointers so well see how I do!
Great store and service, just moved to Atlanta from California. Happy to find my people and food
The food spices are fresh and delicious for making ethopian food. The staff is wonderful and makes your shopping errands easier by helping you in a nice way. I highly recommend going to this store to make your own Ethiopian food if youd like. Thanks!
