We have a big family and go through a lot of meat. I cannot afford to buy all my meat here but I buy as much as I can afford. Grocery store and Costco chicken started peeling the outer layer of skinless chicken breast when cooked (no matter how we cooked it) and the frozen chicken had so much liquid injected into each breast (so that the packager could sell the same amount of chicken breasts at the same weight and price) and it really impacts the quality and taste of what I’m cooking. Longhorns meat is quality and local. You can tell the difference in taste, tenderness, quality and consistency when cooking. After getting meat at Longhorn, I really question what’s in that grocery store meat.
Ashley is the best! Longhorn Meat Co has the best pickled green beans, jerky, sauce and more. I am a hug fan of their products. They are also very charitable towards local organizations in Auburn. Best meat company hands down.
Best meat shop in the area, also has fresh Alaskan Salmon fillets and the best bacon Ive had in Nor Cal
Amazing as usual. I have been buying meat from longhorn since they were in Newcastle. Never disappointed.
The product is incredible and the employees are super helpful...if you ask the questions, they will get you the answers.
Helpful and friendly staff. Best meat in town. You dont realize there is a difference in hamburger until you taste theirs! Its the best!
After getting a smoker, Ive been shopping here more and more. Great selection of fresh meats and fair prices. They are more expensive than the grocery store, but you are getting what you pay for. One of the few place around that you can get a fresh turkey for thanksgiving and the difference is huge. Ive always had good service but it can be slow sometimes when they get really busy, which is totally reasonable.
Always a great experience when we go in! Great staff, great meat and great owner
Great products, great staff....why go to a supermarket when your local family butcher can supply high-quality meats, expertly cut. Wifey and I live about 75 miles away, but we dont go anywhere else for our meat & fish. Good going guys! 5 Stars
Longhorn is great, and its wonderful to be able to buy locally raised meats in our community!
I got my 1st Bundle Today I hope it taste as good as it looks !!! Thank you LongHorn Meat Co. 😊😁
Recently, there has been a change in the counter helpers. I appreciate that the mean gals have moved on and now Longhorns has some new people that are friendly and helpful. As usual, the meats are great.Old post: I like to go get meat from longhorns because I believe it is best to buy local and support the local butcher.. Unfortunately every time I go there, I leave with disappointment.. All of the ladies working the front counter are awfully rude. A little customer service goes a long way. Teach the ladies some customer service! A basic hello, how are ya, what can I get for you today.. I always feel like I am bothering them by asking a question or looking to see which piece I’d like to purchase. If you don’t mind paying premium prices for good meat and being treated like your patronage isn’t appreciated, or important to the business, go to Longhorns.. The difference between going to Rayleys and going to longhorns is an extra stop and not getting all of my groceries.. Please don’t inconvenience the customer further by making them feel like you don’t even want them in your store.
They harvest our lambs for us every year and while that service they provide is good and fair priced the customer service for the front of the establishment is sub-par. They only allow a few people inside at a time which is understandable the doorway is small so you can’t see inside well. They have a written notice asking patrons to not stand in the doorway. I stood about 6 feet back and I guess I didn’t see the lady trying to wave me in and she was incredibly annoyed about it. Then, I mispronounced the cut of meat I wanted to which I got a look for. Then she just held it up and it wasn’t the same cut I asked for-so I was confused but I didn’t say anything as I had told her the purpose of what I wanted to use it for and she would know better than I. While I was reading the cut I was trying to read the weight of it and I guess she thought I was just blankly staring at it because she seemed annoyed by that too. She just had the worst most condescending attitude. I went there specifically because I’m not an expert in beef and wanted to be able to go somewhere where I could ask a few questions about what I intended to use it for. I’m really frustrated and after reading other reviews I’m upset that I’m not the only one that seems to have this issue.
The best exta lean ground beef i have ever had. My husband loves the steaks. We are really impressed with all of it.
Meat is great quality prices are good and the meat sticks are to die for
Love this place. Great meats and employees.
Longhorn is always customer friendly, has a great arrangement of meat, and great quality, its nice to see a old fashion meat market.
I went to longhorn to pick up sausage and accidentally bought some J&C peppersticks. Im not into cheese and jalapeno nomally to hot, they are the best peppersticks I had and I never see somethink be eaten so fast in the house hold. Thanks longhorn great peppersticks
Great quality. Highly recommend.
Pure meat paradise...we have been driving past this place forever and finally decided to stop in. One of the best decisions of our lives. Hands down the best meats we have had, period.
The majority of the workers here are super friendly. Great meat most of the time...people do panic buy latly. However there is one girl there that is ruder than ever no real people skills super snotty. Unfortunately dont know her name but she can use a lesson in customer service and problaly not chat it up with her friends while there is a line waiting.. Thats the reason for a 2 star..Great meat, good service most of the time.
We LOVE this place. Always fresh and delicious. In one word, wed say; SPECTACULAR!!!!
This market is my go to, any time I want a higher quality of meat. They have it all and have been impressed every time I go. It takes the stress out of what I am going to make for my out of town family and friends. Thumbs up Longhorn Meat in making my life a little more simpler.
Great meats and great service.
Yeah I wouldnt use them again. They lost my pig. Then call us to come get it then when we got there theyve had lost it again. Then when we are finally able to get it from them, almost 2 months after they had received it originally. They hadnt followed my cutting instructions and gave us bone in chops instead of boneless. This was all disappointing.
My wife and I are confused by the reviews that say the service is excellent here. Weve been here a few times and every time leave feeling like we are dealing with customer service beneath the level of Walmart. We are considering a fresh turkey this year, and might drive the whole way to Branigan Farms in Woodland because at some point, its obvious since we arent having them cut up an entire cow for us, we arent worth their time.
Update 1/28/21. No ones wearing a mask or social distancing. Stay away! I had liked this place. It was an excellent butcher. However, now they have stopped wearing masks and they no longer ask their customers to wear masks. I think its dangerous to go in there and Ive stopped shopping there.
It is the best Meat Shop I have found
Great meat, poultry and pork!
The best place in Auburn for all kinds of meat
Always a good experience there unfortunately they were out of duck this time.
Great service phenomenal meats and homemade sausages..... you gotta love the marinades. . Best chicken in the N.Coast.. try the Old Western and the Teriyaki Garlic marinades... Yum!
Bought some spatchcocked chicken and it was so delicious ❤️❤️
Great quality. Great service. Enough said
Best butcher in placer county. Prices are competitive with any of the grocery stores but the quality is waaaaay better. I always come here for fresh salmon, tri tip, and chicken breasts. These come in a variety of marinades and are super tasty. If youve never been, check it out, its the best option for meat eaters!
I really like the meat quality and selection here but am very disappointed in the service. The staff are not very helpful and ignored my request to wrap meat selections directly into parchment paper. Multiple times, they did not have my order ready.
Friendly staff plenty of variety to choose from and prices are descent
Love this place some stuff is overpriced but hey it’s local meat the girl behind the counter with tattoos on her the back of her thighs is not happy or friendly but hey it’s local meat and it’s good
Great meat 🍖👍 good service
Always very helpful friendly people I have been having meat processed for years large supply of all kinds of meat!
My FAVORITE place ever. Of course meat and marinade are great but service excellent as well. Buffalo chicken and wild turkey marinade tri tip the best.....
Ive bought there meat and it was good. I had three pigs processed and was not happy. The sausage was rubbery and the shrink packaging wasnt done well. They did a lot better when they were in Loomis. The hams and bacon were too salty as well.
Awesome meat. Quite frankly the best Ive tasted so far!! Keep up the good work!
Very good service, beautiful meat! Would be nice if prices were a little lower, but I guess you get what you pay for :)
Appreciate this local meat company!
Always helpful and their product is awesome
We have been going to Longhorn meats for years! Like the selection and the staff is polite!
Great selections !
Perfecting the lost art of butchery! A great local butcher shop with amazing quality meat of all varieties and cuts. If they dont have it, ask and they will get it. We go here weekley for tri tips and whole chickens. They have also processed a few game animals I have hunted and I have nothing but good words for them. They made the best bratwurst I have ever had with a wild boar I killed. This place is worth the extra money!
Lots of people getting ready for yummy holiday meals.
Great service and incredible product. We only buy our meat from Longhorn!
Great butcher shop.... They have the best meat in Auburn
Was soooo disappointed in the product & service at Longhorn Meats. Will never shop there again after the Prime Rib I bought for my Xmas dinner. It was TERRIBLE. Really poor quality. Lacked flavor was very fatty,. Im talking hidden just blubber inside the roast where it had been tied on to the bone. It had so much fat and grisle running through it, it was tough, didnt cook up very well just was horrible and for ordering it two weeks in advance when I got there they didnt have the size (4 ribs) I had ordered. The girl could care less about my needs & her cooking instructions were dont worry about it its easy just do whatever you want with it, here read this. And that was about as nice as she got. Dont waste your time or your money here. Honestly Raleys is better than this place. Plus is smells of raw sewage in the parking lot. The place is nasty.
On August 22, 2017, I contacted Longhorns and they stated they were extremely busy with the local fair. They wouldnt be able to process an order for approx 30 days. Since I lived in Southern California and im often up in the area once a month, I felt that it would work perfect. My ordered consisted of Fresh cuts (Roasts & Steaks) and their Sage sausage and meat sticks. On September 22, 2017, I contacted Longhorns to confirm the order would be complete and/or get an updated estimate on the processing. When a lady returned to the call she couldnt have been more rude. Who are you? We have fair customers that receive priority and I honestly cant find your order. Give us a call back tomorrow.. So I called back on September 23, 2017 in the AM hoping to get another ETA. This time I spoke to a super nice guy. He told me that my order only had one customer in front of mine and the meat was defrosting. He estimated it would be a few more weeks and apologized for delay. I told the gentleman I would be back in the area around October 5, 2017. He said that date would work.On October 6, 2017, I contacted Longhorns again and got the same person I spoke to on September 22, 2017. I introduced myself and told her I was following up on my order. She put me on hold again, came back and stated, We cut your Roasts and Steaks. However we wont be able to get to the rest of your order for another couple weeks. Keep in mind I traveled 400 miles to Auburn on October 5, 2017, largely based on my belief this order would be complete. I asked the women if she saw any notes on the order. She replied with, I see the notes. Sorry but wild game is not our priority. Couple more weeks. We will call you when its ready. Not willing to argue or make a scene, I took the news and drove home empty handed.By November 1, 2017 I still had not heard from Longhorns. I contacted them, asked for the women in charge of the custom processing. I was put on hold again for 5 mins. With the most annoyed voice she could offer, Im sorry but your order is still not ready. A few more weeks. Wow! Now feeling like something else could be the issue I asked her if she lost my order. She replied with, Im sorry but Wild Game is not our priority. I responded, If thats the case why wouldnt your company tell me BEFORE I brought the animal in. Why tell me it would be 30 days and continue to promise a few more weeks...... Before I could finish she rudely interrupted and said, Ill have it done by November 15, 2017. No need to call again. On November 16, 2017, I drove up to Auburn to pick up the order. A younger gal working the register was very nice and helpful. After digging around a whole stack of papers she asked if someone had called me. (Thats funny) She went in the back and came out with the order paper. The total order was over $450 dollars for less than 100 Lbs of quarter, cleaned and ready to be processed meat. No explanation, No call throughout the 3 months. At this point im pretty annoyed... I paid for the meat, loaded up my car and was going to put the bad experience behind me.I started transferring 3 boxes of meat and I notice the Fresh cuts were missing. After a 10 min wait, the butcher that helped in August said, We couldnt get any roasts or steaks from the animal. Someone should have called you! SERIOUSLY!!!!!! I was told on the September 22, 2017 call that my Fresh Cuts were done but they couldnt get to the sausage for a couple weeks. How could you not get steaks from whole back straps I brought in?? How could you not pull roasts off 2 perfect hind quarters??? I went back looked through all the boxes for a confirmation order sheet.... Conveniently it was not there and they couldnt make one available to me.Quick RecapTook 3 months to process my animal.I received 0 phone calls during the entire process.I was treated like a 3rd class citizen on most occasions. They lost all of my Fresh Cuts.I was not offered a confirmation order sheet nor was one made available.I paid between 4.50 - 5.00 dollars per pound for processing.
Top stop on the way to the hills. Best pepper stix around.
Every peice of meat that comes out of this store is prime! Love the new look of the expansion.
Great meat....go there.
Best filet mignon Ive ever tasted!
Love this place! Great everything!
Best chicken weve ever eaten
Best place in Auburn for custom meats...
Good meat shop, we went there to buy liver and bone
I used to buy meat here but no more as it is all vacuum packed in poly vinyl chloride and I dont know what leaches into the meat from the packaging.
Best meat ever !
Service sucks. Felt like I was an inconvenience to them.
Great meat and service
Excellent Service.
