I was shopping in SaveMart which is always a pleasure but today was made more special by a young man in the Deli section of the store named Jacob. He did not hesitate when I asked if someone could cut up a rotisserie chicken for me. Within minutes it was done and he was just so polite. I wanted someone to know what an exceptional young man he was. Thank you.

Expensive prices, worst malfunctioing self check out machines and only place Ive seen self check out that is 15 items or less. Tonight we tried to return moldy bread we purchased 3 days ago and were told we needed to exchange exact same bread; they were out of that kind. I wont mention names but other grocery stores I frequent always just do a quick and kind return for cash. Its $3...what a hassle.

I feel this sums up the over all experience at this savemart. There was no greeting or welcome. I felt I was inconveniencing any employee I was near (with six feet distancing). Wasnt even thanked for coming after making my purchase. Store was trashy inside and out. There is a reason there is a sign saying help wanted because they are in need of some serious help. Dont think I will be coming back.

I have lived in Auburn for the last six years. The Save Mart on Elm is the closest to my home. Almost every single time I shop there I end up feeling alienated or just plain angry after my interactions with the cashiers. They almost never acknowledge me as a paying customer. Back before we all wore masks they didnt smile. They have discussed private items that I am buying. I even had one cashier insult me over buying liquor. He didnt know it but it was my birthday even though he checked my ID. Tonight is my last night in Auburn. I havent been able to find one of my cats so I had to stay an extra night to locate her. Having packed my entire home and refrigerator I was hungry and needed to grab something to eat and get some extra cat food. I am tired I am achy and I just needed to grab a few things and get out of save Mart before anyone insulted me or made me upset. Having only grabbed a couple of things I used one of their hand baskets. Without noticing much because again Im tired, I set the basket on the conveyor belt. As the cashier unpacked the basket with some pretty obvious anger. I looked back to see a stack of baskets where other people had unpacked their baskets and therefore the cashier didnt have to deal with the customer baskets. If I had noticed I would have unpacked my basket, its not a big deal. But her attitude towards such a minimal offense set me off. I told her that the cashiers have always been snarky and that Im glad that Im moving out of Auburn and I will never ever be back to another Save Mart. to the managers of the Save Mart in Auburn - I encourage you to choose better people for your cashiers they all have terrible attitudes they discuss personal things with each other while they are checking, they need a serious attitudeadjustment. Saw a clerk in the frozen food aisle cut in front of a customer while stocking product and didnt even acknowledge he had done so. Pretty typical of this store and its employees .

This is a handy store for me. The butcher dept is great, and the bakery has fresh products customer service lacking some days

The veg. Have gone down hill. To high a price for small amount of individual vegetables and they spoil fast.

Understaffed (long waits in line for a cashier. Often 4, 5, 6 carts in line.) They also seem to be reducing their inventory in the deli, produce and grocery aisles. Disappointing as this used to be my go-to store.

Normally a great shopping experience, but not on this visit! The clerk stationed at the self-check kiosks immediately inside, was VERY skilled at not even caring about what they have on their specials, nor a disabled persons need to know what was on sale to decide whether or not to shop there OR go somewhere else? Ill let YOU decide...

My wife and I (Auburn Locals) shop here all the time, had a DREADFUL experience today, NEVER going back. They wouldnt let me buy my six pack of beer, with my ID, because my wife left her purse at home and did not have her ID. Our cashier guy handled it very poorly and was extremely rude. We are in our late 30s, it was absolutely ridiculous, never coming back... Grocery Outlet, Bel Air, Safe Way, Smart and Final, Target... this has never happened. ... whats hilarious is that the cashier then said I could never come back into the store and buy alcohol by myself with my ID. What an insane person, we refused to buy any of the grocerys at that point and will never return. Bummer.

I found everything I needed. I was greeted by a young lady as I was entering the store. I had to ask a location for what I need. The young lady was sharp, fast, quick directions taking me to the exact spot. Everything in the store was organized and shelfs were stocked and had a good selection. Its nice to know there are still places to shop where the employees care about your satisfaction. I was very pleased with this visit, I have yet to experience any problems shopping here. The isles were clean, check out was fast with no hassles. Overall this is a great store for a quick in and gone or to run the isles and fill the cart. And I felt the prices were fair, I have reviewed others and have seen first hand, how you can be overcharged. I was happy with my visit. I will be back .

Great people with great deals.

Save Mart is a good grocery store. They have an amazing bakery and deli! Best donuts and sandwiches. The checkers are nice too. I have a secret crush on one of them! 😎 The produce section is always neat, fresh and well stock. The floral section is full of great items from single Roses, to full bouquets to beautiful potted plants. The meat section is top notch and there is always someone there to help if you have a question.

Everyone here is super nice. They are helpful. Best place to shop up here in the hills. Donna, who watches over self checkout is so helpful, and always so happy and polite to the customers!

Too much of their food is bad when purchased.Been throwing away a lot of food lately. Dont buy brussel sprouts in a bag. I had six good and seven bad, twice. their club soda brand is really good,but I get several cans with blown out bottoms and more than several times cans that are completely empty. Thats save Marts brand. Been going to Bel Aire have much better luck there.. luv the employees at save Mart though, they are the best 😊

Great prices on meat! I got some hamburger today.

They pretty much have everything you need. The selection is great and theyre really friendly. They are disinfecting carts and keep customer safety in mind. You wont have to wait too long either, since they keep the checkers well staffed.

Customer service has gotten really bad, most products are damaged or opened so you have to pick your items carefully, the checkout clerks have an attitude all the time, the baggers smash your soft foods. Im not sure what happened in the last few months, but Im not going back. Maybe dont work at a grocery store if you dont like helping people? Just a thought.

Bread varies between locations. Auburn is chiabatta heavy, Grass Valley not.

A few years ago I gave this place a 4 star rating, but as how it is managed now since the covid-19 pandemic is pitiful. It seems that since the pandemic it gave management reason to do as they please with how they treat customers, and if youre disabled dont expect to find a handicap parking space because charging a junk electric car is more important. Also be careful when you walk outside after checkout. I was accused of stealing because I was walking out with one of their handheld baskets to my car that was parked right in front of the main door. Im still trying to figure out what made me a threat, was it my cane, or if my 21 year old 98 horsepower 4 cylinder could outrun the cops.Ill say again that the young man employed there didnt take this upon himself, his so-called manager made him. In finish, as of what I went through not only today, but also in the past few months has changed my review. Stay away from SaveMart. This store is junk!

Called on a Saturday morning. Was lucky enough that cake artist Marci was able to fit in a cake decoration order for that night. I asked for a special order... a chocolate covered hill with foot prints going up and over. She not only came through, but she did a fabulous job dressing up the cake. (Another 5 stars for spelling my friends name correctly as requested!) Thank you so much, Marci!

Save Mart has always been a great venue for pushing the cart. Interesting, today I only had one bag. I grabbed a cart, tossed in the bag and went to the BOA ATM To deposit a check. I parked the cart behind me, out of my sight and concentrated on making the deposit. A gal stood behind me at my right shoulder. I completed the deposit, turned to grab my cart and low and behold, it was gone. I mumbled a PG 13 comment and the gal pointed to a little grey haired lady pushing my cart and ten cent bag thru produce headed to the beverage aisle, scoring a dried cart and my prized bag. The upside to my visit was seeing my high school coach from 1968, the legendary Coach Bill Flake and his lovely Bride. Happy Holidays.

This place has a serious staffing problem. It seems like whenever I go into this store, no matter which department Im in, I see a couple of people struggling to get things done, it concerns me especially with corona virus because if theres not enough people to have more then 2 lanes open or staff the deli adequately, then theres no way they are actually cleaning as much as they are supposed to. Im not sure why they are having these issues since its never been this way before, maybe because the starting wage is too low? Maybe theres a problem with the management and thats why its so hard to keep people around? I dont know but I hope its solved soon.

The employees at Save Mart are friendly, courteous and go out of there way to make sure you are taken care of. I shop there 4-7 times a week and I practically know many there and I am always greeted by those I interact with. Mark, at the front, is a hero in disguise, I have known him for almost 11 years, and he is an amazing employee and friend. Employees like him are rare!!! He treats every single person there like they are the only person in the room when he is engaged with them. Save Mart is my ONLY STORE for grocery shopping!!!

Good at affordable pricing

This is the most depressing grocery store I’ve ever been to...the employees don’t smile and look very unhappy...the lady and bagger at checkout didn’t say hi or thanks for shopping with us. The checker didn’t smile nor seemed to care...the prices aren’t very good, sale deals are no deal...Walmart has better prices and more pleasant employees than save mart...Safeway is known to be expensive but have great service with happy employees, Safeway specials are better and cheaper than save mart...again, I don’t think I’ve been to any store that was so depressing and that employees looked so unhappy... I’m not the kind of person that leaves negative comments but I felt I needed to this time...

The store is clean. There​ is room to push the cart around, they didnt overcrowd everywhere. The people are friendly and helpful. They seem to be educated, unlike some stores where the staff is less than bright. The meats didnt have a crazy amount of fats all over them.ANDThe prices seemed to be less than or equal to the competition!

It is not a place to save. Very well stocked, but prices are on the high side.You can find better deals at other retailers. This is thr place to go if you need something at the last minute, and not the store to do a weekly grocery list.

Loved this store. First time 12/14. Easy to find items, loved the produce section, and a terrific selection. Ill be back. Im about 10 miles away, but worth the drive.

Every employee I dealt with today was courteous and professional. The store was clean, ample check stands were open, sufficient employees were visible within the store and were knowledgeable.

It is a very unfriendly store- the unfriendliest in Auburn. I have tried over time and it is consistently like this. The staff are just grumpy and dont really step up to help customers if something goes awry as any other store in Auburn will. I am sad and avoid the store due to this unless they have a spectacular bargain. Even then they wont help you get that bargain if their site will not load their coupon as they said it would. If they would smile, try to help customers and look like they were having a better day it would go a long way. They should focus on customer service as a goal. Things would be better.

Easy access just off I80 & Hwy 49, large selection. Not yet a very good selection of organic or higher-quality foods but they are getting better, adding new choices gradually. Very good customer service; friendly staff.

We were just there in the market to day and practically nobody was wearing a face mask.We talked to a manager, a nasty woman who did not care about our remarks about wearing protective masks.She was, rude, nasty and mean, very close to be totally disrespectful to us and our question about wearing face masks.Her bosses need to know what kind of people take care of their customers, because we will not be back to patron this place that does not give a dam about our safety.

I enjoy the products and prices at Savemart as well as the employees. BUT most of the people that bag my groceries have no idea how to bag. Ive come home with milk all over because they put it sideways in the bottom of the bag with other groceries on top. It spilled all over and in the bag as well as in my trunk. Today, bottom of my bag had tomatoes, eggs and bananas with other groceries on top. I try to bag my own and some of the people that bag get offended. I feel like theres NO TRAINING for this!

Decent price but a bit dirty

The employees where extremely rude and hostile they treated me like a criminal following me around the store and even stood by the front door while i picked out a cake. 0% customer satisfaction.

Fresh produce and fresh inventory. Really friendly staff and checkers that make it a point to know your name. Clean store and clean restrooms. They appear genuinely happy to see you.

Decent hometown market, but nothing special. They dont carry a lot of specialty foods. But their prices are less than the other local markets.

I love the lightning deals on meats and day old items. You can score some really great deals on things sometimes. The store itself is a little outdated but all in all not too bad.
