Good place, men loading has their act together

I own a commercial restoration company and 50% of our business is dealing with odds and ends. Found this shop about 6 months ago and they have everything I need and the part is the drop zone of those odd scrap pieces you need.

Knowledgeable staff. Bilingual if needed. Great stock of basics and able to rapidly get large quantities or special non stock items. Fair pricing. A bit tough to maneuver a trailer in to get loaded, but competent floor crew loads quickly.

Unfortunate experience, hopefully i am an anomaly. experienced gnarly customer service, that i could best describe as chauvinistic and patronizing. also the guy who spoke at me (vs to me), was not wearing his mask properly, which i dont get but yea thats nerve-wracking during this time. glad to have been offered and received the refund, but will not be returning. which is a shame because my partner is an avid carpenter and builder so to have a good place to get good metal work would have been awesome. but hey theyre really busy according to the dude i spoke to on the phone so im sure they wont miss our business.

Experienced staff, quick service, no complaints!

Ive been buying from Westbrook for years. Recently they have made me no happy. They have refused to load saying 30 minutes before close was not enough time, even though it was just two sheets of 14 ga plate, shorted me on my last two orders, and told me twice over three weeks they are doing inventory and cant sell inside items. When my salesperson put the phone down I heard him say do we want to sell these to this guy? Also they regularly close 5-15 minutes before their listed hours. First negative review I have ever left in my life. Ill probably keep buying because the location is convenient, but come on. You make me sad.

LOVE LOVE LOVE these guys. They are honest, their sales team is awesome (ask for Rene!!!!), and if and when there is a problem (I order A LOT of metal), they are VERY quick to respond to the issue and correct it for you. Weve shopped around for other other metal suppliers and cant find folks as great as the sales team at Westbrook!!!!!!

My experience here was really hit or miss. I went in (knowing very little) looking for help on a really small project needing only about a foot of 2 steel pipe. The salesperson was great, really friendly, helped get exactly what I needed in about 10 minutes. Even measuring the inside diameter to make sure it would fit my project. Second time in, getting the exact same order, it apparently wouldnt be ready until the next day and got the impression he was annoyed at such a small order with the bigger/regular contractors around.

Ive been purchasing steel and aluminum from Westbrook for over 15 years now. They have a great selection and if they dont have it they, most times, can order it. Fantastic service, ALWAYS!

I have been a customer for 10 years now. I started of buying $20 worth of steel now 10 years later my orders can be several thousands . I was treated the same back then as I am now. I know what I need and normally just email them. If I do have a question it is always answered in a timely fashion. It is hard to call them sometimes. I have learned to just email them. Maybe they could change the hold music to give out email address.

Update 10/26 - Sorry for not updating sooner. Westbrook reached out quickly to discuss my experiences and get to the root of the problem. I look forward to a more positive experience in the future.Original - Only giving a 1 star because it wouldnt let me leave 0!How does a company with such HORRIBLE customer service stay in business for so long. They dont know what they have in stock and cant hardly be bothered to look. If you call to see if they have something in stock they will always say yes on the phone and then act surprised and say they dont have it when you drive across town and ask for it in person. I dont expect them to have everything all the time but I would expect them to be able to listen to the customer well enough to properly check their inventory.At this point Id buy my metal from McMaster and pay way over retail before going back to Westbrook.Too bad Metal Supermarket couldnt make it work in Austin.

Excellent source for metal, with good prices. Busy, sweaty, and dirty place-just like it should be- full of metalworkers picking up jobs and delivery trucks getting filled via forklift. No messing around this place, yet friendly and helpful to the small buyer.

They have what I need which is good but Ive been waiting here for over 45 minutes for one piece of tubing which Ive been told its going to take 10 minutes . 45 minutes later I still dont have it. When I asked for my stuff three times in route for the third time Ive been told we give you your money back if you want but finally 50 minutes later I have my stuff and I left.

Excellent experience, no work is too small. Brought my stainless steel sheet and got it cut exactly to my size with very reasonable price ($10 per cut). Best of all, they throw in another identical SS sheet FOC (though I dont really need it)

Westbrook has been around for a long while and can supply just about any project. My youngest son was learning to weld (teaching himself) so he could build a go cart. I took him to Westbrook and they were very cool. They seemed to get the part about a young kid going nuts when he saw the cut-offs and let him have a lot for next to nothing. In my business I have always relied on this company for all of my steel orders. Very competitive. A great local small business!

Used Westbrook for years, but the last quote I got from them was crazy high, ended up having Aluminum sheet shipped to me from Minnesota for half of the Westbrook quote, including shipping. Have I been overpaying this whole time? I try to stay local, but I cant be competitive if my suppliers arent. Other than price, they have always had what I need, and they are close by.

This place is great. I pulled up in my SUV and was surrounded by trucks in the parking lot. I thought I was going to be out of my element, but the staff at Westbrook Metals helped me out and got me on my way.I ended up getting exactly what I needed, even though I didnt know what I needed when I walked in. Need a 50mm square of 314L stainless? A 1/2 plate of 6063 aluminum? I-beams? These guys have it or will cut you a piece. May not be the absolute cheapest way to get something, but they stock almost everything and will quote you prices via email. Also: no shipping fee!

Great place. Im teaching myself milling, and needed some small pieces to practice on and make parts to convert my manual vertical mill to CNC. They didnt seem to mind dealing with a smaller customer and were very helpful. I plan to be a regular as I ramp up in the machining trade.

The people are very nice and as helpful as they can be. For walk-ins as well as pre-order/pre-cut customers, you are put in a queue with the walk-ins.They are certainly under-staffed or their staff in the area with the smaller sized metals is under-staffed or just really slow.The hold times on the phone are an issue. Myself and my girlfriend have both been on hold for a bit of time, on different occasions.Let me re-iterate though. They are the only game in central Austin and they are very nice and usually have what I need at decent prices. They just need some more staff running the phones and in the shop.

There is no organization to which customer is next and I waited an hour and 45 minutes I drive a for my mouth to get it actually loaded in my truck they definitely play favoritism with customers the probably do more business on me im just making purchases from out of town
