I made a small trek for this place! But what a super cute coffee and tea shop it was! I had a house made iced chai and a croissant. Both were fabulous. And when I say house made chai, I mean it. They brew together their own chai rather than just serving super sugary Oregon Chai or Big Train chai. And they use a local Austin chai tea distributor. All of the baristas and servers were super friendly! Lots of outdoor and indoor seating, which is perfect for the pandemic. There is even an awesome playground for kids and tables under shade coverings for their parents. This is an awesome hangout spot for all sorts of people! I had the best time sitting outside in the shade reading while enjoying my breakfast.Well worth the trek. Hope to come again soon!
The chai latte was excellent as well as the chicken pie. The outdoor seating is nice with a few shaded tables and some open ones. Will be going back!
My son really enjoys the ship like play structure with pole, slides, small climbing wall, etc. As well as the indoor family room with toy kitchen (& books). My mom appreciates that its a short walk away in the neighborhood, especially with Thunderbird being gone.Their indoor & shaded outdoor seating options are handy. No complaints about the coffee drinks, either.Sometimes I get a vegan curry pie to go (very yummy but I like to eat it with salsa!) or we grab another baked treat.Cheers!
Grabbed a latte to-go, was very good. The inside looks pretty cool too. Will definitely be back.
Great scones and a great interior atmosphere. Before the pandemic.
Super chill spot with great coffee, foods, and service. Its definitely a go to spot in Austin.
The staff here are so friendly and genuinely welcoming. And the bakery items are delicious. Scones break apart easily, Bakewell tarts are moist, and Millionaire bars are a delicious treat with a lovely, thick layer of chocolate. And, I cant overlook their croissants: fresh, soft, and flaky.Other than pastries, I have to say that you must try their chicken salad: tender chicken, crunchy celery, and sweet red grapes. Perfect on a croissant. When its not COVID time, you can have a tea party here. Enjoy tea sized sandwiches, pastries, jam, and a selection of tea. Its a wonderful time to sit in a comfortable and peaceful environment, with a lacy table cloth, enjoying personal tea pots and wonderful service. Its also a great excuse to pull out those party clothes youve been dying to wear--or, ladies, an excuse to buy a beautiful, multipurpose tea dress! They have excellent COVID precautions right now. You place your order online and call in to let them know you are there so they can start your order. When it is ready, they bring it out to a table outside their door and call your name. If there are others waiting, their lovely front yard allows adequate, personal spacing.
Continues to be one of our favorite neighborhood coffee shops with innovative food and pleasant outdoor seating. Excellent Covid protocol. Thank you.
Brentwood Social House is a social quaint place mixed with working people, kids on the playground, and parents. They have a phenomenal selection of savory and sweet delicacies for kids and adults alike. I highly recommend a visit. If you have kids, go here after school. It seems to be made to please people of all ages.
We just got back from getting a to-go order. We got 2 cups of coffee, and the person at the counter informed us that it would be a wait for the drinks. Not a big deal, but I asked how long the wait would be because we are on a work break, and the barista simply shrugged her shoulders, not even bothering to give a guess or even say I dont know. Fortunately, another worker within earshot said about 10 minutes but still I cant get over the rudeness of shrugging your shoulders when a customer ask how long something is going to take.We probably passed 2 coffee shops on the way there, and considering the customer service, I doubt I would make the trip again.
I really like this coffee house. Their espresso is fantastic. They have a great kids play area both inside and out. It is one of the best coffee shops in Brentwood and Crestview neighborhood.
This coffee shop is legit a house that was turned into a cafe. Each room has its ambiance - whether you are here with friends, flying solo, or brought toddlers and kids with you. There is a room with toys and puzzles for toddlers (and its own tables for the adults) and a backyard with a playground. Im not sure if they are pet friendly... but i dont see why not since they have a patio.I would have given them 4 stars if the house smelled cleaner. It has that musty smell mixed with coffee and food... its interesting. Kudos on them serving wine and beer now, however!Pretty cool place, nonetheless. Super chill. The house is decorated with local artwork thats available for purchase.
My gal friends and I went here for afternoon tea. I was expecting a quiet place, but in each corner was a table for someone different...meaning there were college kids studying and dining, people reading books, playing on their laptops and then us having tea. We shouted over the noise to chat. Eventually It got super quiet when everyone left and tables kept looking over at us to quiet down because they were trying to study. It was weird. As for the food? Lemon cake was dense and super tart. The quiche tasted really eggy and I couldnt get past the after taste. Cucumber sandwiches was refreshing, but nothing to call home about. You only get one pot of tea. The scones are my favorite with jam and butter to spread. To each its own though. This place has a lot of wonderful reviews. Maybe the rest of their food and drinks are amazing, but their afternoon tea was not.
I live close by and have been wanting to try this place for awhile. It was a terrible disappointment. I was intrigued ny the online menu, curbside pickup, and options offered. I ordered online when I arrived. I noticed several other people ordered before they came by to pick up, because they had a much shorter wait than I did. When I ordered I was told it would ne ready in about 10-15 minutes, but I waited more that 30 minutes, for a very mediocre cup of Americano. A woman came out and announced, you have to check in at your pick up time by phone call, I had tried to do that, and left a couple of voicemails, no answer. Then she said, Everyone must be calling at once? There were 3 people outside...? Will not be returning, not a good experience. Which is unfortunate because they have a really sweet outside seating area with picnic tables.
Love the in house made cocoa mix… it’s a family favorite. Coffee, pastries and staff are all great!
This was one of my favorite hangout spots pre-pandemic!!! The vibes are super great, the tea is good, and the staff is THE BEST (so kind and funny)! During the pandemic they’ve been constantly creating new food and event offerings! They have great gluten free options too! Highly recommend!
Fabulous local coffee shop. The chicken pie was very tasty!
Great food, variety of drinks and all delicious!! This is a REAL tea house, fashioned after English culture with pastries to boot. Incl vegetarian options. Try the Erva Yerba Mate. They had a Jazz Brunch with a band, Mystery Mustache. Great background music! Also a perfect place to take the little ones (inside room) and theyre pet friendly (outside patio).
Printing is very difficult. The app sucks. I did not get help on the phone. I do not recommend this plac.
Excellent espresso! Had a cappuccino and it was delicious. Currently you can walk up to order using a QR code or you can order ahead. They have outdoor seating only. Will definitely be visiting again.
We recently rented the backyard patio for a small family get-together. My daughter and son-in-law enjoyed the sunshine on one of the cozy loveseats while my granddaughters played on the huge pirate ship playscape. They had so much fun that they didn’t even sit down to eat the pretzel sticks and lemon bread we got for them. They did drink all their hot cocoa and begged for more!I got a few special treats to enjoy that day and over the weekend. My favorite was the Bakewell tart. Perfectly moist and a lovely raspberry filling. A close second was the croissant with butter and strawberry jam.The two hours we planned for went by too fast and the granddaughters did not want to leave. If you are looking to get away, but not go far, this is a wonderful spot for kids to play on their own and for adults to just take a breath and sip a good coffee or cup of tea!
Delicious 10/10 coffee immaculate taste 😗🤌
Great neighborhood place! With parking and contactless pickup its an easy (and safe) treat for yourself and helps a wonderful local business ❤ Delicious hot drinks and yummy nibbles.
Awesome coffee shop, awesome vibe. They have a really beautiful backyard, their coffee is really good. It is a perfect local cafe. We just moved to Brentwood, and hoping to go there often. Cant wait for COVID to be over so we can hang out there all day!!!! Great job you guys.
You know that you love a place when you go back more than once while visiting a city.Three visits later . . . and I am in love with BSH!Good Food: Try the pot pie!Local Vibe: Like someones living room.Seating Galore: Seating was plentiful.Office Love: You can def work here: outlets, wifi, printing.Parking: Maybe just because I come from Parking Hell San Francisco, but the lot was really convenient.I will definitely be back the next time Im in Austin.
I love everything about this place and wish I had one in my area. While visiting Austin, I was looking for kid friendly places to visit. Brentwood social club has an indoor area for children and also an outdoor pirate ship park for kids. On top of all of this, the breakfast foods were gf, vegan, or meat friendly. The breakfast foods are mostly in style of puff pastries and desserts, in French style. I would go back here if Im ever in Austin!
I really like this coffee house. Their espresso is fantastic and still crafty not processed. They have a great kids play area both inside and out. Please be respectful and pick up after your kids. They also have room rentals so if you need to make a room private thats available.
Delicious and delightful place to have some tea and treats.
I really like this place, and would love it and stay longer if they fixed that bathroom drain smell. It’s pretty bad and has been like that for several months. Everything else is wonderful, the staff is friendly, the pastries are amazing, and coffee well made! But I always end up taking my stuff to go because I can’t sit inside and smell that drain funk :/ It’s a shame too, it’s so cute inside!
Really enjoyed the back for my toddler. This little gem is family friendly for play dates. The back has a gate and safe for your kiddos to run around and let out some energy. The food, coffee and teas are so delish! Also have gluten free options!
Online ordering with curbside pick up only. Decent pastries.
Wow what is there not to love about this place!!! They have a wonderful play area, kids toys both things to ride on push, everything in between outside. not to mention the indoor play room that is loaded with a train table wooden blocks puzzles a play kitchen with lots of play food and just hours and hours of fun. They also have great food and pretty good coffee. Everyone there especially the owners are just precious and very very friendly. Absolutely adore this atmosphere and by far a nanny favorite
Brentwood Social House was a great find. I drove up from San Antonio to participate in an open Old Time music jam, but I think the best part of the trip was Brentwood. The coffee was great. The staff was wonderful. The location was inviting and just a joy to be in. Im definitely returning . . . this time with my family as this is a family friendly establishment.
Great coffee, excellent pastries. The shop is a house that had been converted into a business, so there are lots of different rooms available. Great spot to meet with a group of friends to hang out. There is also a kid-friendly room with toys, great spot for parents. I also like that its not too loud. Ive been here several times and am always satisfied with my experience.
I am in love with this place!! Not only is it a great coffee shop, it is a great place grab a beer. It is very kid/family friendly, with its own kid play room! It also has a great outdoor area with toys, dogs are welcome too for all those parents of four legged babies.I also recommend this place as a private rental space. I had my baby shower here and they did a great job! The price is also very reasonable.
Coffee and pastries are awesome!
I love the outdoor play area and the family room. There isn’t a place like this in Austin. The food is a bit pricey and the quantities are small. I don’t like that they allow huge dogs In the night play area. I think they should clean a little bit more the toys...
Its a great place to _________. (Fill in blank. i.e. Covid-19). Be sure to check out their take out 😊
I went with a party of eight, prepaid and reserved. We had one extra person, and were told the other person would have to sit at an adjacent table. My husband graciously offered to sit at the other table. None of the servers spoke to him or even looked at him. He wasn’t even offered a glass of water. We were there for 2 and a half hours, and the server didn’t bother to come in the room for the last hour. The food was good and the tea was good, but the lack of humanity from the servers makes sure I will never go again.
I wanted a basic cup of coffee while I had some time to kill. The catch was I didn’t want a terrible, burnt-tasting coffee. This place was exactly what I wanted—hot, fresh, and delicious. Really great cup of coffee. Friendly staff, too!
Very sweet staff. I always love their chicken pie. The chai was pretty good too. Can be crowded on the weekends, so you may not be able to get parking/seating.
Lattes are delicious. I suggest the maple cinnamon oat milk latte. And get the Boswell Tart warmed up. It is heaven!
Brentwood social is such a cute little spot in North Austin. We love to go here because they have an indoor and outdoor play area for kids and babies! Their greets are delicious and coffee is great! Sometimes it can be packed but always worth a try!
Delicious Shepards Pie and Matcha Late! We chose this spot because they are kid friendly. Not a lot of coffee houses in town have a playground for kids in their property. Its super convenient to be able to grab a coffee, light meal, and meet up with your mom friends.
Great place to go with kids. They have a nice outdoor playground and a indoor place as well. They frequently have weekend events. Our favorite is the petting zoo but they have other family friendly events too, sometimes there is an additional fee. The food and coffee seem fresh. The staff is friendly but sometimes they seem a little too busy and could definitely use a few more people during busy times. This is an excellent place for the neighborhood and especially good for families with small children.
If youre a parent of a child under the age of 6 or 7, and havent been here, youre not doing coffee right. This place is freaking awesome. Good to great coffee. An entire play room indoors for kids (best for ages 0-5) makes for a great distraction for the kid while enjoying your drink. Similarly, there is a cool playground outside for kids. They have a kid-centric band called the Other Brothers that plays every first Saturday (maybe its Sunday idk look it up on their site), and they are super fun. Highly recommend for any parent to come here for a coffee and healthy distraction for the kids.
Great medium roast coffee (no light roasts 👎🏼) and the pastries are delicious. The place is large like a three bedroom house. And they have a room dedicated to children so you can enjoy coffee while letting your kids play. The outdoor seating is huge and fenced in and also has a few toys for the kids.
The young man who helped us was very courteous and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was quirky Austin artsy, and I mean that as a compliment. Its a laid-back comfortable place, and I want to go back. And the food (saving the best for last) was D.E.L.I.C I.O.U.S. Oh my God!
This is a very interesting place. We visited to celebrate Dutch kings day.. They had an interesting selection of wine and beer along with a lot of tempting bake goods on display. While I stuck to the beer those who were eating looked like they really enjoyed it.
Quaint little place with excellent staff and ambience. Good for working or hanging. Nice food and drinks collection
Sarah was a delight to work with. She went beyond the necessary helping us set up a private afternoon tea event on fairly short notice. The food is wonderful and a great compliment to the wonderful selection of teas available. The vibe of the location is great and though the parking is scarce, there is plenty of parking in the side streets so long as you pay attention to marked tow zones.
Such a fun neighborhood coffee shop. Their mocha is made with real cocoa powder and all their pastries are so fresh. I love how this shop is centered around building community. It’s amazing!
A Cute shop that didn’t show me good service. The atmosphere in the house is very Austin. Very eclectic with an interesting offering of foods and drinks. I was very curious about a curry pastry that I haven’t tried yet, but it looked divine.I went to Brentwood Social House for afternoon tea service that was borderline the worst service I have received at any restaurant. After getting our orders I never saw our waiter unless he was bringing us something ordered. Teas were never refilled and I had to get up and approach the front desk to get basic service. Our table was also not set and required me to once again seek out someone to get the normal fixings for tea and coffee.Outside of the bad service, the food was only “fine “. It tasted good enough, I wasn’t blown away, but I wasn’t turned off by the food I was eating. I would say of the food offerings the egg sandwich was the stand out for me.For the price, I expected better service and food that stood out more than being something to eat. The shop is cute but I feel zero desire to return.
Rating is not for the coffee shop. I only came here for Sunday English high tea service, which my friend and I loved! The sandwiches are delicious and so filling. We ended up taking our desserts home since we couldnt finish them there. Would recommend for that!
Nice place! Neighborhood coffee shop that feels more like a home than anything. Friendly staff and good conversations all around. Would like to try the food sometime.
Too many good things to mention. Everyone will like this place! One star off for being a wee pricey and parking lot was full (good thing too, right?) so I had to park on side street. Lovely spot that I would like to be a secret but I think the word is out ;)
Visiting for a wedding and happened to be staying near the Brentwood Social House and so happy about it! Their vegan pies are amazing and the coffee is great too! I saved it and will recommend it to friends who visit as well.
Fantastic coffee shop/eatery and super friendly staff! Love the outdoor space for kids to play, too!
Limited Menu, and they run out of much of it Staff is friendly. Food was tasty. Nice outdoor area. Very kid friendly, and they have a fantastic kid room.
Great atmosphere with delicious food. The Cheese pasty was perfect. The staff is warm and genuine. The quality of the ingredients for both the coffee and baked goods is very apparent. Added bonus, the tables are a great size for laptops to get some work done while you enjoy your coffee.
This place is a one of a kind and so are the baristas. They really are genuinely kind and caring, i love that about this spot. Not to mention an inside and an outside space for kiddos, so us mamas can devour a hot latte/coffee for once! ❤
Good. Scones would have been better warm, and with softer butter. The tea was amazing, the tomato chutney sandwich was the best. Floor was old and unstable, when heavier people walked the whole table and our chairs shook which was distracting.
Excellent service. Delicious coffee. Really cool atmosphere. And a play area for kids.
Huge space! Plenty of room to be alone or large tables for meeting with a group with 5+. Nice kids room and patio. They offer a good variety of food and beverages, including beer and coffee. Daytime and afternoons are especially peaceful to work. Wish they were open later!
Interesting concept. Decent coffee with a cozy atmosphere. Nice staff.
Great little cafe with really attentive staff who seemed to very quickly understand our desire for Australian style coffee. They nailed it every time and the coffee was supplemented by a nice collection of pastries and hot nibbles. Our favourite Austin cafe.
A tad pricey. Quaint place. Parking so so, Street parking ok. Nice outdoor area. Only two plugs inside the big room so have your battery charged.
This little cafe was so cute. When I walk in I immediately feel right at home! The mismatched chairs in the main dining room add a cozy feel to the space and the food was great.
Highly recommend this quaint little coffee shop. They have a nice variety of unique food options, including vegetarian ones and gluten-free. There is a balance of great ambience for people with kids, or people on a date, because the place is split up into sections. Ive had generally good experiences with the baristas. they have a mailing list where you can sign up and learn about the events, such as music, and art activities. The main things I would change if anyting are the fact that one of the seating areas gets extremely hot in the summer, so I think they could use more ventilation there because its actually uncomfortable to sit in there during hot months, and also, the parking lot gets a little tight and if you go during a busy time or semi busy time you will end up having to do street parking just a heads up.Their coffee is fantastic!
Wonderful little coffee and tea shop and cafe. They have a nice patio, a quiet room and a kids room in addition to the normal coffee house space. The pastries are all homemade and the coffee and tea are both local. Really enjoyed the morning I spent there and will be eager to go back!
Theyve got a super cute location and incredible food and drinks. Ive had their shepherds pie with lamb, their Mediterranean, and some of their savory tarts, and theyre all incredible. There are always tons of children though, so I usually do to-go orders instead of staying.
Great savory focused, women owned bakery. Lets list the important stuff:- very few sweets, maybe one item- pastries are about $4- pastries maybe a small breakfast, Id buy two- no standard menu for pastries, but seem to have some standard options- loved the coffee- great outdoor space- lots of seating- parking lot fills up, street parking- alcohol license in the works- did I say women owned?Only complaint, not real sweet options. But that isnt there thing. Get a friend, a few pastries, a cup of coffee and chat the afternoon away.
Cool little coffee shop. Nice Employees and great baked goods. Its an old house do it feels like your going to your friends house for a cup of coffee instead of some building.
Brentwood social is an amazing small Cafe with outdoor space for children small to medium-sized to play. With crescent dough imported from France and puff pastry from Belgium, the fat rascals are still my favorite thank God for actual currents. Their espresso is Smokey and Rich, a genuine pick me up. We are quickly becoming loyal customers.
Awesome little coffee shop with delicious coffee! Bonus, it has a kid playroom and toys outside as well, and a family bathroom, so makes it super family friendly. But you can also easily find a quiet corner to sit and work or read.
I worked with Suzanne, the owner, to cater breakfast for an event. She was really easy to work with. She got me within my desired budget and made the whole process so simple for me. Even more importantly, the food was delicious - we got lots of rave reviews!
Lovely breakfast. Enjoying a sausage in a roll and coffee with almond milk. Come on in, the air conditioning is lovely!
Wish 3.5 were an option. There are so many things to love about this space from the coffee to the childrens playscape.... Sadly its missing a crucial ingredient I desire in a coffee shop - the warm cozy nook near an outlet so I can write til my hearts content..
Ive tried 6 (or so) of the tasty, delicious foods here, both sweet and savory, and theyre all wonderful. The sweets are flavorful and not overpowering; the savory are so well seasoned and robust. The teas that I have tried are also fantastic, and you cant go wrong with the coffee! Its an easy atmosphere to spend some time or bring your kids (theres a playroom and a patio).
The vibe here is definitely one thats less social and a lot more like the study area of a library. The food is all French and looked delicious, but you wont find any healthy options. The coffee was good and the quiet was nice for getting work done.
Wonderful coffeeshop in north central Austin, with great coffee selections and an awesome array of baked goods. Definitely worth a stop if youre looking for a place to work in bright light (with free, high speed internet) or just a place to chat with friends.Lots of young families here, as well, with a big outdoor area in the back of the restaurant for kids.
Patiently waited for service, two drinks, easy. After me by a min. a party came to pay... 12 people individually paying for a full tea service... only after someone offered to help did my order even start. Really lame, bad order of operations
Nice spot. The food and coffee were delicious. Only downside here was that it wasnt the best spot for getting work done if thats what youre looking for - limited outlets, many of the tables were reserved, and a singer/songerwriter was playing music (fun, kinda distracting).
Really great coffeePastries were goodThe best part is the play areas for the kiddos, they can go crazy while you and your friends have a nice time
The only place in Austin with a decent pain au chocolat! Seriously, Ive tried them all. Five stars for that alone. Because I have a one year old, I also love that its such an inviting and unique spot for children.
The food looked amazing and the coffee was good, but between the waitress literally stomping around and the like, 3 dozen children there, it just wasnt the kind of place i can concentrate or enjoy myself. Probs great for families, i guess.
