Coffee, service, pastry -- 5/5 -- I love the semi-enclosed outdoor area. The large trees buffer (some of) the traffic noise/pollution. Inside was cool, spacious, with ample natural light for reading, and a few darker spots for chilling.Good music, not too loud. Ill be back to try the savory Greek fare, for sure.
This is a very relaxing place! I came here with a group of friends for happy hour on a Friday evening and sat outside. They have numerous fans blowing to try and keep you cool in this Austin heat. But a large, old oak tree shades the entire space! They have wonderful Greek food. We enjoyed the hummus trio (excellent hummus!), baked feta (a bit too salty for our taste), and the arugula salad. The seasoned pita provided with the meals was quite delicious as well. We were able to drink bottled Coke and water, tap beer, mixed drinks and tea. Wonderful variety for all attendees! Because it was Friday, around 8, a musical trio arrived and we were treated to live music. It was enjoyable to hear, but not so loud that you couldnt hold a conversation.Im told its worth your time to check them out in the morning to experience their coffee, so thats next on my list!
Great local wine bar with amazing happy hour deals!!!The patio has all the vibes!!! Great place to wind down with friends :)
Chill vibe here. relaxed and funky. good place to meet a friend or to hang out with a book. had a gyro and it was good. a coffee well prepared. its a long time favorite of mine.
Great outdoor patio with large mature trees and lots of great seating! The iced coffee here is quite good and this’ll definitely become a place I come back to every once in a while to get some work done or hangout with friends. The inside has a very cool rustic home kind of atmosphere which makes this place feel very welcoming. I also am curious to try their food next time I stop in.
Opa recently catered a dinner party for me, and I cant say enough good things. They walked me through how much food to order, worked with me on creating a family style dining event for a very reasonable price, and ensured that my food would be ready for pick up in time so that I didnt have to worry day-of. The food was so delicious that I was repeatedly asked by guests where I had catered from. The Opa team also threw in a complimentary assortment of birthday desserts. If you are looking for a unique spin on your next event, try Opa. I am so glad I did!
The atmosphere here is awesome. Gorgeous outdoor space with huge trees and lots of shade. The indoors is also very nice as well, all wood, it feels like an escape from the more modern buildings/areas near here. The food and coffee were also delicious.
One of the best Greek restaurants I’ve been to in Texas! I grew up in Germany where they have spectacular Greek restaurants (among other things) and have been to Greece. This is one of the only places in America I have been to that compares to the taste. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU A FAN OF GREEK FOOD ❤️👀🔥💅🏻
Ive been coming to Opa for several months now. The atmosphere on the outdoor patio is fantastic and is, for me, the biggest draw to visiting and revisiting Opa. Live music is a frequent occurrence on their patio and is always most welcome, and makes visiting Opa with company that much more enjoyable. From the standpoint of genuine Mediterranean cuisine, the food is alright in quality; Ive certainly had better. Granted, I grew up eating Greek food in the home, so my perspective is somewhat skewed. Id equate the quality to approximately whats available at Greek festivals. The only other issue can be a lack of parking in the area, but if you can brave the parking situation then youre in for a relaxing time on the patio the next time youre there!
This is a great place to grab a drink and sit out under the beautiful oak tree, but the food deserves zero stars. Our greek salads were reminiscent of a prepackaged gas station salad and the $10 hummus plate was served with previously frozen pita bread. For such an expensive meal, our food was nothing like the fresh, authentic Greek food that was expected. Come for the ambiance, avoid the food.
Was looking for a place with a good vibe to do some work away from the office and Opa nails it! Great atmosphere both inside and out. Large outdoor space shaded by a large oak tree. Good selection of beers, wines and liquors. Typical Greek food selection. Tried the hummus trio and it hit the spot. There was a good mix of ages hanging out either socializing or working on their laptops. Live music in the evenings. This will become one of my go-to Austin spots.
Came here for the patio. The coffee is quite good, not overly sweetened so you can actually taste the coffee. They have food and adult drinks too, and the place stays open till midnight on the weekends. Very laid back, come as you are coffee house and chill spot.
Came here for lunch/coffee with a friend. She recommended this place. The coffee was good. Service was blotchy. I ordered the lamb gyro, but got chicken instead. But right before my order, one of the staff just came and collected my number before I got my food. Luckily I stopped her and said I didnt receive my food yet. This also happened to two other patrons before me while I was waiting in line. Popular place. Great cafe ambience with outdoor seating. I get they were busy, but dont take the numbers away if people havent received the food yet. The chicken gyro was good. So I may return to actually try the lamb.
Opa is my favorite place in central south Austin to hang out or read or study! Its decently priced, especially during the daily happy hours!
Espresso is good. Simple quality food. Great old Austin atmosphere. Cant imagine it being around much longer because of the value of the land/location. Big problem I have is smokers outside. Its simply not healthy, not cool and offensive.
Came here to chat and celebrate a birthday on Saturday night and the live music was just so great. The ambience is amazing and the people there are just in a good mood. The internal decor is really a nice touch and I felt transported to a great mood and my Europe travels.
I hosted a wonderful Baby shower in their private room in the back of the restaurant. They set up the area with a private barrier and placed flowers on each of the tables. All of the guests were very delighted with the pizzas and the Greek shareable platters were delicious. They had a plethora of drinks, wine and espresso drinks. The staff took care of all the details. I will definitely consider this cozy place for any other event needed!!
Elite patio, although I wish they’d put up higher hedges in front of South Lamar. Food is so good and simple and consistent. Solid wine selection. Staff always been very nice. Only thing they are missing is a Mediterranean hot sauce (pls get one!)
Their cold brew is excellent, the atmosphere both inside and out is enjoyable. 5 stars for a playlist that included Pink Floyd and Radiohead!
Slightly dilapidated place but open till late night. Has coffee, drinks and food. Good for working.
Good food good environment slow service
Used to love this place but for some reason they never have Matcha tea anymore so our groups going to go somewhere else
Old-style classic Austin cafe and wine bar. Lots of outdoor seating, patio space, live oak tree, indoor seating. Impressive music in the evening and comedy night is a kick. Great place to study, work. Fast WiFi and parking. New manager updating wine and beer options. I hope they expand or update the menu -- mediterranean options limited and stale. Highly recommend!
Great entertainment, drinks and coffee are awesome, food could better. This place is a great place for groups of people. I would recommend soley on staff.
Comfortable place to drink coffee or wine, always love to come here with friends.
Im so happy Opa has made it through this difficult time! They provide a wonderfully relaxing Austin authentic venue!
1 hour wait for food on a Tuesday night. Food was good but the wait was just too long.
This is my favorite spot in all of Austin.Gorgeous and huge Oak tree in the courtyard.Fun ambiance with Mediterranean flair.Great drinks and snack food and they even make Cappuccinos right.Have seen some great live music here. - Even Junior Brown once!
I first have to say they were slammed and severely understaffed when we were there. But the staff was still very pleasant. The food that my party ordered was all fine but nothing special. I ordered falafel and meatballs came instead. Not a fun experience to bite into as a vegetarian. But they were great about bringing falafel to the table to replace it. I think its a better spot if youre there to drink and enjoy the live entertainment outside.
Beautiful little spot on Lamar, it feels quiet and somewhat secluded in a way. The fence surrounding the yard & the monster tree in the middle that was probably around for the dinosaurs creates this warm and cozy atmosphere. Also had great live music from jilly zahn
Chicken and falafel are magnifique
I have been going for some years now and love what they are doing to the place. They just got rid of old tables and came in with some very good quality tables that are nice. Service was great and the atmosphere is wonderful. Great place to relax and wind down after a long day or week.
Classic cafe reminiscent of Austin’s old days. Ponder the world under its live oak with glass of rose. High speed WiFi.
Smallest dolmas in town, deli meat in the gyro, very overpriced for what you get. Inside is open for seating and no masks required.
The meatball and hummus plate is amazing. The live music Ive seen here is always top notch.
Worst matcha and gyro Ive ever had, sad because its a cute place
Charming little spot to grab a tea or coffee.🧡☕☺️
Another great Opa night last night. Stopped in after Pickleball for dinner/drinks. The gluten free pizzas are delicious (almost better than the normal ones). We love it and come here 2-3x/month
No matter if I spend four dollars or forty, I always have fun at Opa.
Love this place! Really good drinks and delicious food, and the atmosphere is so nice for doing a little work.
Great place to chill or work! The coffee is good, and also the hummus tastes great. Some nights with the live music makes you stay more because the atmosphere is lovely.I’m definitely hanging out here a lot!
Very unique little gem in Austin
Oh gosh, where do I even begin. This has to be one of my favorite coffee shops in austin. I should give it a lower rating because it’s just too busy as is. At opa you can dress it up or dress it down. Some folks come in ready for a night out or a date looking so good, and some come in ready to study and grind. That’s what I love about this place. The first time I came I drank wine and did practice questions, best of both worlds. I love the inside, although because of COVID it’s spaced differently. It’s Greek themed and so cute. I’ve had drinks, chai and food here and all of them have been great. The outdoor seating area is divine!! Highly recommend, they also have comedy on Tuesday nights at 8 (I believe). If you see me there (I go quite often), please say hi.
AMAZING HUMMUS. Great outdoor seating and coffee is great as well.
I love Opah. Such a laid back place with lots of seating options. Love going there just to wind down or have a coffee. The court yard area in the front is lovely. Too bad it’s right on Congress so it can get a bit noisy.
Good service. One of the best open mics in Austin.
Friendly helpful staff, great selections/choices, easy to find
Great food.
Really cool atmosphere. Not into the food.
Great study and coffee shop
Love everything about this place!Really cute coffee shop aesthetic. Great place to study/get work done. Tons of outlets and reliably fast wifi. They also have great beverages, snacks and yummy greek food. Super cosy atmosphere. Give it a try!
Such a classic austin place that has stood the test of time well. Beautiful, gorgeous spacious outdoor patio with a huge oak tree right in the middle which provides awesome shade during the summer. this place has a homey feel and the staff are just amazing. Miss the live music that they used to have before covid times! hope that comes back at some point.
Good atmosphere and excellent red wine. We tried the hummus which was also good! This was one of the best hummus’ recipes that we’ve had which is impressive given that we eat hummus almost daily. My only recommendation would be to add more options with the hummus. A few slices of warm pita isn’t enough for the price. My only other concern/complaint was that customers sit on the porch constantly smoking so you’re smelling smoke no matter which direction that you’re sitting outside, which isn’t pleasant.
Came to see Austin for the first time from San Antonio decided to have lunch at a local restaurant and made the mistake of eating at Opa cafe and restaurant. Absolute disaster dirty with 2 layers of dust on tables food came cold and not fresh I ordered a beer that later I found that it was expired, poor customer service and I reported them to the Health Dept of Austin! On top of that I paid a high price that you can pay at any upper class restaurant! Very disappointed! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant even to my enemies! Be careful where you go Texans!
Coming to Opa after ages and super let down...The cleanliness is non-existent, there was no beverage menu or knowledge of beverages, the coffee mugs had squirts of coffee drippings on them, the patio furniture hasnt been cleaned or changed in ages, and the inside reeks of old and musty. The staff was polite though, and cleaned our table when asked, but I will not be coming back.
My wife and I had delicious chicken skewers. One of our favorite places to eat. Also, great outdoor seating.
Terrible service, bland overpriced food and did I mention the service?
Very Chill Plus really good food, give the lamb pizza a try!
Great! Plenty of fans outside to enjoy the trees. Mediterranean plate very tasty. Pitas and gyros if you need more. Wine, sangria pitchers, beer and mixed drinks for happy hour. A little taste of Austin.
Just like the website says this as a chill place. So 😍 the house concept. The dim lighting and options pure chill. The menu is small but quaint. It’s perfect for date night or a coffee alone. Made the best hot toddy I’ve ever tasted.
I love greek food. Not the best gyro meat ever but I loved the coffee and laid back atmosphere. Glad this place exists.
This is a perfect little spot if you want a quiet drink. The kind of place where you can read a book, catch up with an old friend, or chat with the bartender. The front patio is really neat.
Cozy pretty atmosphere with coffee & beer. food is meh.
Cute, quaint, and amazing food and drinks. Love the trees and the swing!
I love Opa!! Its funky with lots of space with comfy cushy chairs and couches, but also have regular ones as well. The staff are always super friendly. The food is awesome and they have tons of drinks, coffees, and alcoholic drinks as well. Classic South Austin! They also have tons of great outdoor spaces and a private little nook as well. Dog friendly too! Love it! They have a pretty good sized parking lot, but if its full there are some other places nearby to park.
Great, cozy spot if youre looking for a coffee or wine while you work on the computer. Friendly staff.
Awesome patio /courtyard ambiance. Fabulous sangria and many other delicacies.
Outdoor and indoor seating. Great greek options as well as drinks
There is nothing great about this food. The hummus isnt smooth and VERY small portions. The Moussaka did not compare to what I have had in the past. I did have it in Greece but also Malawi, Africa. It was expensive for the portion size. The Lamb Kebab was mainly pita bread. I think this place is way over-priced. We would not return.
Excellent food, great atmosphere.
Always have time for Opas
Nice Sunday afternoon enjoying the swing under the huge oak tree. Service is always great. Love the Gyro!
Great patio to sit at. You can actually smoke here. It’s a cool place to bring your dog and bring a doggy dish. The inside has plenty of room. The food is OK. The coffee is awesome and they have lots of alcoholic beverages.
Great talent at the open mic on Wednesday.
Quaint place with a unique personality. Im definitely going back. Great food and drinks 👌. Really impressed with the quality and selection.Went there for a birthday party with karaoke in the back section after the live band stopped at 10pm. A great time was had by all!!
Literally my most favorite spot in Austin. The outdoor area is awesome at night. Happy Hour is the best (half price glasses of wine on bottles that are already open- who can beat that?!?!). I bring all of my out of town guests here. Dog-friendly! Highly recommend.
Loved sharing big outdoor tables with ‘strangers’ that we always end up chatting with. In the hot weather, the have beautiful cold sangria by the glass or pitcher. Get the pitcher! Amazingly inexpensive and so good! The baked feta was wonderful. Didn’t come across a single appetizer that wasn’t good. Fun place, good service as long as you understand it’s more a serve yourself place. Not a sit down restaurant, just a nice, fun place to relax!
Great menu at decent prices.
I love this place. My friend and I go there every once in a while. That is our favorite place to hang out. Their hummus plate and margarita pizza are very tasty and healthy.
They have, honest to God, the best hummus Ive ever had. I agree though that there should be more pita slices on the plate. Chill spot to hang out, drink a beer or coffee, and they have free WiFi.
I really like this coffee shop plenty of comfortable seating and I like the low lighting. Baristas have always given good service. I like that they have live music too.. Great cozy place!
Another great place for coffee and beer. Shady trees keep it cool in the summer. The staff keeps it cool year round with chill recommendations. I got an Oscar Blues beer and an Americano, great combo. Seating indoors gives quiet and conversational options. Outdoors, its right on Lamar so loud and fun!
