Olga is the best baker in all of Austin! She is endlessly creative in the flavors and designs she creates. We had to reschedule our big wedding for July 2021, but she still made us a cake for our minimony on our original wedding date of June 2020 and we were so grateful for that. We finally got to have our big celebration and she put together a dreamy dessert spread for us -- a modern bride’s cake, a realistic drum groom’s cake (my husband is a band director and he was so excited about his cake), mini cupcakes in four flavors and two kinds of cookies. It looked beautiful and tasted delicious -- guests were telling me how much they enjoyed the sweets and wanted to know where they were from. The cherry on top is that Olga is one of the sweetest people and kindest small business owners in town. It’s now been a decade of me enjoying her treats, and I look forward to enjoying more of them for other special milestones in the future. We appreciate her time and talents, and know you will too for your big day!

I called two hours before I planned to pick up my boyfriend from the airport in a last minute “Welcome Home” idea, and they were able to fulfill the order! The cupcakes were delicious! We practically devoured them. We got the red velvet, strawberry and cream, and the black bottom, all three very yummy and so pretty! They have a nice system where they leave your order on a table outside for easy pick up. I can’t wait to go back!

Very small place. Take your order to go. No one was in place and service was a bit of a challenge, no one was at front counter.. Waited a while. Service person did not know how to make a cappuccino. Cupcakes were ok. Nothing really special. Cute place though.

Olga is the best!! She made the most delicious cookies for my wedding welcome boxes and then the cutest and tastiest cake pops shaped like golf balls and mini cupcakes for our Top Golf welcome party! They were a huge hit and disappeared super quickly! People are still talking about them!! I recommend Olga and Polkadots for any dessert needs you have- she is the sweetest and so talented!!!

I love these cupcakes. I have been a long time customer of Polkadots from my college days, which were long ago. These cupcakes are so good, I have literally driven from Dallas to Austin just because I was craving these delightful treats. I have never been disappointed in a cupcake at Polkadots, but I am particularly passionate about their chocolate cupcakes. Never dry, beautiful balance in the frosting. I love these cupcakes.

Ordered a dozen variety pack for my wifes birthday. Ordering over the phone and payment via venmo was convenient. Cupcakes were ready on time and were conveniently left on their pick-up table for me. All the flavors were excellent. Would definitely order again!

Amazing family owned shop. I loved them for years as a college student (they used to have a lemon blueberry flavor that was amazing) and was thrilled to have them do my wedding cake + cupcakes as well. Several guests told us it was the best wedding cake they ever had, it was beautiful, and they sent a small treat for us before the wedding. I live in Europe now and still think of this lovely shop.

Ordered a cake long distance to be delivered to the restaurant the day of graduation. Olga was amazing with follow up and details. Everything was handled via email and service was exceptional. Now about the cake, it was amazing and moist an instant hit with the family.

Olga and team did a fantastic job on my sons first birthday cake! We had some dietary restrictions and its always hard to find a cake that tastes like a regular cake. Polkadots really came through! The cake was not only delicious, but beautiful. I sent Olga a picture of the theme, and she really blew us away with her design. My super sweet friend sent me cupcakes from here as a gift. But instead of surprising me with them, their delivery person texted me on their way, made me walk all the way down from my apartment during class, AND made me walk to the window of her car to accept them. Really rude. She had the apartment number and the entrance was open.

I ordered a gluten free strawberry cream cake for delivery to my daughter on her birthday. Not only was the service excellent (both the ordering and delivery on time) but the cake, which my daughter showed me on FaceTime, was a stunning pink marvel. It was, of course, delicious! We ordered the black bottom, funfetti, red velvet, & strawberries & cream. The strawberry and cream was AMAZING, super moist and a great flavor. I was a little sad about the lack of frosting because it’s my favorite part of cake, but holy cow the cupcakes make up for any lack of frosting. Red velvet was our second favorite - it had a light airy cream cheese frosting, and again the cupcake part was amazing! The black bottom had a stout flavor and was super moist. I would skip the funfetti next time for double strawberry. So good!

I stopped by this cupcake shop today because I was driving by and I wanted to stop and taste them I was actually quite disappointed especially with how much they were and how they actually taste. I tried four different flavors and out of the four I only like the strawberry I feel like the cupcakes are moist but the buttercream just wasnt wow it wasnt anything special I feel like I can get a better cupcake at Walmart and the buttercream is definitely better. V was just my opinion Im sure that many of you my love them I just was disappointed

Ive ordered from Polkadots for years now and they are AMAZING. I usually place an order for about 12 dozen mini cupcakes for corporate birthdays and they are always a big hit. Everyone wants to know where the cupcakes came from! Theres so many different varieties and theres so much love put into even the stuffed and filled mini cupcakes. I cannot recommend them enough.

We used Polka Dots Cupcakes for our wedding and couldn’t be any happier! Alex and I are both Gluten Free and have never tasted such amazing Cupcakes and Cakes!During our tasting, Olga was super helpful with explaining the ingredients, helping to make decisions and explaining how it would work day of the wedding.We had a dessert table that included chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, and three types of mini cupcakes. We had a total of about 250 desserts plus a gluten free 2 tier cake at the wedding. When dessert table opened, all the treats were gone within 15 minutes! The guests loved everything - we got multiple This is the best cupcake I have ever had, throughout the evening.I highly recommend Polka Dot Cupcakes for any type of event! Olga is great with communicating the entire process and always has a smile on her face.

I ordered a dozen cupcakes for my office today and we were all very pleased with the product we received. The cupcakes were fresh and moist, and the packaging made them easy to carry without having to worry about them tipping over.The place is very small and parking is limited. The lot in front is difficult to navigate in and out of, however if youre just picking up its not a problem. They did put bells on the door, so that seems to have fixed any customer service issues mentioned in other reviews.Overall great product and positive experience!

I found Polka Dot and had her make a chocolate cake covered in gold glitter for my sisters birthday and everyone thought it was the best cake theyve ever had! After that I had so many people ask where it was from because they needed a cake. Word has spread and everyone is beyond happy with the detail, look, and mostly importantantly the TASTE!

Pretty solid cupcake, its a typical boutique cupcake price. There is a good variety, but I typically just get the same 1 or 2 types anyways. The people are nice and they have a cupcake reward programs so that is nice. Its a cute little shop.

Went for a wedding cake tasting and consultation. The interior is small, but thats not a big deal. Unfortunately, while we arrived a little early for the tasting, the person we were meeting (Olga Lee) was over 10 minutes late without any apology or notification that she would be. The cakes we tasted were baked as cupcakes, which was odd, but again, understandable (I imagine it keeps costs down); but my sympathy is hampered a bit when we had to pay $25 per person just to be given a total of 4 cupcakes to split and taste.Olga herself seemed to be rather rushed. Putting aside her tardiness and lack of apology for it, she wasnt rude, but neither was she particularly friendly...

My work got cupcakes for everyone and they were terrible!We ordered vanilla and chocolate. the frosting was flat, flavorless, and too sweet. Also there was and odd back ground flavor of black pepper....so gross!

I have used this place to make cakes twice. I had a good experience both times with regards to both design of the cake and taste. I ordered the black-bottomed cake the first time and the red velvet cake, the second time.

My family sent me a dozen Polkadots cupcakes as a gift and they were the best cupcakes ive had in Austin hands down. They arent too sweet and every component is well thought out and executed. The frosting is light and fluffy and doesnt over-power the cake.I love that they offer such a large variety of flavors and that they list them on their website. It makes it easy to see what day they will be making your favorite flavor!I didnt go into the store to experience the customer service, but my order was delivered as promised and the cupcakes were fresh.

Totally delicious. Polkadots provided a small cake and cupcakes for my wedding and it was wonderful! It was hard to choose only 5 flavors for the cupcakes because they were so good. A bit expensive, but worth it. Olga is a bit short in some of her emails, and that threw me off at first, but shes very kind and professional in person and did a really great job on the day of the wedding. Thanks Olga!

This is my favorite cupcake place in all of Austin! So yummy! I highly recommend that you go on a day when they have the cinnamon sugar cupcake.

The cupcakes at polkadots are much lighter than any other cupcake shop in town, sticking closer to the French style of baking :)As far as cupcakes go, they have tons of flavors. Chai Tea is great and so is Triple Chocolate.Polkadots also has amazing custom birthday and wedding cakes that are sure to be the hit of your party. If your mind can dream it up, the team at Polkadots can execute on the cake you want! Ive had some incredible cakes made by them and they were the hit of the party each time.

The cupcakes were delicious and moist, however the service ruined the experience. The lady, who I believe is the owner, did not seem to have any desire to help. I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes of different varieties. For a few of the cupcakes, she had to go in the back to grab more but did acted annoyed that she had to do so. I also asked for a copy of the receipt and she was bothered to have to print one. The cupcakes are very delicious but the horrible service makes me want to never go there again. You should hire part time people who enjoy customer service to sit up front and serve the customers.

Best cupcakes you might ever have

Single-handedly the worst customer service I have EVER encountered. I paid approximately $150 for an average sized two tiered cake. I asked for fondant and got regular icing and the color was not what I had shown them or sent to them through an email. I told them magenta pink and got a light pastel pink. When I called to speak to them about their mistake, I was given to the manager who was ill-spoken, rude, unprofessional. When I told him my issues with the cake, he proceeded to tell me I was wrong and that the color of the cake was right. I told him that the cake was not made from fondant and was melting and he had the nerve to yell at me and berate me over the phone for about 10 minutes. I would NOT recommend this place. Extremely over-priced, the rudest customer service I have ever experienced and average tasting cake.

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE cupcake place to date! If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be the Black Bottom Cupcake from Polkadots.Ive tried the Strawberry Shortcake, Banana Nutella, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Vanilla Vanilla and Vanilla Chocolate Chip, all really good, but nothing compares to the Black Bottom. SO. GOOD. The cake in all their cupcakes is incredibly moist and the icing is perfection.My advice for this place would be that if you are looking for something specific make sure to check out their daily specials before heading in. The Black Bottom is not served every day, which I learned the hard way.This truly is a hidden Austin gem tucked away near the UT Campus and one that everyone should visit at some point. If I lived closer there is no doubt that I would be here more often than a person should be.

Honestly, maybe I dont know what a cupcake is supposed to taste like but these were dry, the icing was weird and later in the day they dont have much selection. And $3 for a regular sized cupcake is ridiculous.

This was my favorite place to buy for my clients. Being in Medical Sales, this place was a must to get business. I have three kids and ordered cakes for ALL their birthdays as well. I lost all hope when I ordered for my sons Superman party. They placed pink icing on coffee cupcakes with a superman symbol on top. PINK. ON COFFEE CUPCAKES. They totally ruined his party. Never using them again. If you use them, make sure to double check your order before it is finalized, over and over....and over. AND, do not send your husband to pick them up. Learned my lesson. Still not sure why pink icing made sense on coffee cupcakes for a Superman party. What a waste of money. When I called they were NOT accommodating and would not correct the problem. They were really rude about the situation. Never using again.

This quaint boutique cupcakery on Rio Grande provided some of the best dang cupcakes Ive ever had! The Dulce de Leche was to die for and it had a core of caramel that was a wonderful surprise! I am trying to be good and save the lemon cupcake for my husband but its staring at me. O.OI have the feeling Im going to be craving these cupcakes and will have to make them a regular stop when I am downtown. Whats also neat is that they work with fondant and do cakes as well! Great find.

Ever since the cupcake craze started, I knew I wanted cupcakes at my wedding for the sole reason that they can be prepared fresh the day-of. I absolutely did not want a cake that was made a week in advance and then frozen.When we got engaged and decided to have a mini-destination wedding in Austin, we knew Polkadots would be our cake vendor. Our friends used them for their wedding, and I thought they were the best cupcakes Ive ever had. We were so sure of our decision that we didnt have any other cake tastings, which is the best part of wedding planning!Olga doesnt usually have tastings on the weekend, but she made an exception for us, since we live out of town, which was so sweet on her part. We tried 5 different flavors and had a difficult time narrowing down which ones we wanted because they were all so good! In the end, we went with honey & chai, dulce de leche, strawberry shortcake, chocolate peanut butter, and chocolate vanilla. We ordered about 20% more cupcakes than we needed, and they were all gone by the end of the night, like I knew they would be. My only regret is not ordering more to take home.Olga and her team are so incredibly talented and artistic. I like Polkadots on Facebook and see the work they do - its amazing! To top it all off, Olga was so sweet to send me home with some surprise treats, which I didnt discover until the day after the wedding.
