Loved the rolled ice creams at this food truck. Appreciated the work put in to prepare these delicious rolls. Our group got the mango, this ice tea and Thai coffee flavors. All were super awesome. The portion sizes are huge too. Be ready for a wait, but its worth it!

Me and my husband stopped here one day after going to the trail to let our son play. They were really nice & welcoming. There were 3 people in front of us and it only took about 15 minutes to get our ice cream. I do wish we could have gotten more cake pieces and fudge since the rolls are really dense- but that doesn’t take away from how good the ice cream tasted!

They really make sure that you have a traditional rolled ice cream experience as you get to watch them through the truck window. 😁☺️ Easily the best rolled ice cream I have had and the berries were extremely fresh. We opted for the build your own creations to make sure they were vegan or in my partners case limited dairy! 😉 I opted for strawberries, blackberries and raspberries, it was so sweet and good on its own the whip cream honestly took away from it and did not add to it. The girls working the truck were very nice and patient as we worked together to make my vegan and gluten free creation!

Extremely slow service. Definitely would not recommend going late at night. The sign says only credit, but when we go the counter they said they only accept exact change. Pretty sure they did that to limit service. We had exact change but wish we didn’t as we waited 40+ minutes for okay ice cream when there were only 2 people on front of us.Not worth it, at all.

I’ve honestly tried really hard to eat here. For the past two weeks we’ve walked by and they’re never open during hours of operation in the evening. We tried to go during normal hours four times and had a sign saying back at 8, and actually waited and never came back one day.I called 20 minutes ago and they said they were open and I walked over and they had closed saying they’ll be back at 8 on a clock. Either they don’t have adequate employment to meet their stated hours, the employees are closing up shop early or something entirely else but its been really disappointing and a complete waste of time.

Giving 3 stars because the ice cream is tasty. However, the wait is very long as many have said. We went yesterday evening and waited about 30 minutes just to get ice cream. There are four areas in the truck for making ice cream, but only about 1-2 we’re being used. IMHO, if they had a couple of more workers it would go much faster and the customers would be happier. One of the girls working the truck acted like she didn’t want to be there and moved very slowly. I’m wondering is she is new or just does not care. There was another girl who seemed to be doing most of the work. She made my husband’s ice cream which was a full cup and lovely presentation. The “slower” worker made mine and it looked like she had no clue how to roll ice cream. She also called me up for someone else’s ice cream and when I told her it wasn’t mine, she just sat there and stared at me. I had to let the other customer know their ice cream was ready because she looked like she was so confused. Anyway, there’s a sign that says their ice cream is worth the wait. While it is good, I don’t think the subpar, slow service makes up for it.

Very disappointed, we have come to this place many times and even though the wait is long we like it but today was a disaster. 1st the cashier gave my ice cream to someone else. I have requested no Graham crackers and after they gave my ice-cream to someone else I double checked to make sure. When I got the ice-cream there was Graham crackers, I went and tell the lady and she very snappy said there is none, after I showed her she walk away from me. I waited ar the window and asked another employee if I was going to get another one, then the cashier turn back and again snappy said they were going to make another. I waited for an hour while I other customers got their ice-cream. At this point I asked for a refund and again this lady without answering just walk away at last the other employee came and issued a refund with a very different attitude. Not coming back.

It took 40+ minutes to get our ice cream. There was no one in front of us or behind us so it shouldnt have taken that long. There was only one lady working and she looked completely distracted, she had an airpod in and wouldnt say hello or anything. When we finally got our ice cream, it was like crumbles instead of rolls. We got three ice creams, coffee, chocolate, and mint chip. The coffee one was only half full. The chocolate one came with strawberries but they were frozen and not fresh. The mint chip one looked horrible and we found something in it. Not sure whether it was hair or some kind of vegetable. Would not recommend and will not go back.

I want to start off by saying that the customer service has significantly deteriorated over the years. We online ordered on a Saturday within their business hours to skip the long line but arrived only to find a sign that states they ‘will return at 9:15’, but an hour later no one is present in the truck and there is a long line of 18+ customers waiting. Finally when employees did show up, there was no priority for individuals that online ordered beforehand so we had to wait two hours while 5 people that ordered at the window received their orders before us. A few individuals inquired about their order several times and decided it was more beneficial to just leave than wait any longer.The ice cream itself is delicious and the only reason why I return despite numerous occurrences of poor service, but there is a limit to how much a consumer should tolerate horrible customer service and poorly managed employees for ice cream or any product.That is not worth the wait.

Good as always! Great location. Tasty as always... can be a little watery but still tastes good. Like how they can add fruits and vegetables in it and you can barely taste it. A little expensive.

Its a super fun way of eating ice cream. The whole experience is wonderful. The staff are high energy and create a very fun atmosphere. So definitely go for the experience. However the ice cream tastes watered down and freezer burnt. Thats why I cant give it more than 3 stars. Id go back for the experience but not for the ice cream.

I love Holla Mode ice cream trailer on Barton Springs! I always get the Bhumi bowl with Nutella, banana, chocolate and added bonus when it’s coconut milk! They make the Thai ice cream rolls right in front of you which takes some skill. You gotta check it out. Delicious ice cream. It can get pretty crowded at night but it’s worth it!!

This Thai style ice cream was amazingly delicious and good. This less sweet ice cream flavor and taste was new to me. Mine had fudge and caramel on top with pecan and banana as other ingredients. They were mixed and rolled perfectly.

Ice cream isnt that good. You order hot fudge and they serve a little mediocre syrupy chocolate sauce. For the prices I was expecting higher quality food.

Watching your ice cream come to life is pretty amazing if I don’t say so myself! Today I ordered the mint chocolate chip and added Nutella. Real mint leaves makes the mint pop as well as added color. The Godiva and Nutella add a subtle yet sweet mixture to this mint chocolate sensation. Now let’s just say it’s not for everyone. To me it’s better than blue bell but whom am I to judge...wink wink. If you want a fresh refreshing mouth watering and cooking spot all at the same time this is your spot to hit. The one down fall I will say is they do not accept cash. Card payment only. That’s would be the one thing I would say that would enhance yet I understand why they don’t it’s a hit spot. Right next to Barton springs get your mouth refreshed and get with nature all at the same time!!!

I honestly am so sad to leave this review because Ive loved this place for so long and Ive been coming here for YEARS and loved it. But my last two trips have really just highlighted how bad this place has gotten. I tried to come three days ago, and I preordered at 9:30 and came to pick it up at 10 (an hour before closing) only to be told they had run out of milk and canceled our preorder (which i still havent received a refund for). Tonight we came and once again I had preordered and they didnt have it. This time they said their printer was broken so they werent able to have it ready before I came - and yet they knew the order number and name exactly, so I dont understand why they wouldnt have started. We then proceeded to wait OVER AN HOUR for the THREE ice creams we had already paid for while the two employees took all the time in the world, talking and moving at a snails pace, and continued to take orders while they took OVER AN HOUR to fill our order of three ice creams . It breaks my heart but its time to find a new rolled ice cream place.

We walked from Sandys to this rolled ice cream truck. It was worth the walk. They are open late and you can watch them roll your ice cream. We have been wanting to try Thai rolled ice cream and Holla Mode did not disappoint. They have speciality offerings or build your own. We all ordered the build your own. I got the locally sourced dairy milk with a sweet cream base, toffee and chocolate and strawberries with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. It was wonderful. So light and airy.

My second time visiting and definitely not the last! I took my fiance and my younger sister and it was reasonably priced for the ice cream and they make it right in front of you.

This may be the best thing ever invented. It is made with coconut milk so I can eat it without dying of lactose intolerance issues. They make it right in front of you which is so cool and fresh. The guy in the truck was Nov was funny and actually held a conversation. It tasted absolutely amazing. Hope I can find this in WI.

Only ever eaten here once, but it was hot and the ice cream was good! Thai style, so flash frozen by being poured out on a large, frozen metal drum/dish and then pushed with a chisel to give it a thin concentric shape, kind of like a Pirouette. Crazy tasty and really hit the spot on a hot day! I had the Oreo one, and my spouse had a banana/Nutella one. Oh, also, they have frozen wine popsicles if thats more your thing.

I’ve gone there 4 times while Google said they were still open and each time someone in the truck told me they couldn’t serve me for some reason - out of ice cream, not enough staff, closing early, etc… to be fair 3 of those times were at 10:30 at night when they say they close at 11. But the final one was at 8:30pm when Google says it’s one of their peak times

Watching the process to make the ice cream is almost as good as eating it! Although the ice cream is a little too “icy” for me, it’s unique and I’ll be open to trying it again. Keep in mind, the location doesn’t accept cash and there’s typically a line. But, the line moved fast tonight.

We ordered online and when we got there no one was in line so it shouldn’t have taken long, but it took 20 minutes more than what they said. When we got the ice cream, the presentation was horrible. On one of the ice creams we got strawberries and it was frozen, not fresh. There was only one person working and there was poor customer service. Wouldn’t go there again.

Long Wait, bad service, none of the workers were wearing masks, and the ice cream really wasnt that good, there were multiple hears in my food, the hairs were all curly and greasy, I really wish I just went to the Snow Cone place next door.

Holla Mode is a different take on traditional ice cream. Very fresh and light. You dont feel guilty at all when you come here. Got coconut water base, vanilla bean flavor, and strawberry & raspberry chops. Pretty tasty if you ask me.

Decent spot with a take on rolled ice cream, they were out of certain flavors and toppings and weren’t super accommodating though.

We are visiting the area and saw this food truck in a Google search when looking for stuff to do. The pun in the name is enough to make me want to check it out and I was pleased to see more puns in the menu. We ordered the Oreo Speedwagon and the Bhumi Bhowl. The Oreo one is the pinnacle of the cookies and cream flavor category, in my opinion, because the cookies are evenly distributed throughout the entire dish and every bite tastes like the intended flavor, no cookie desert here! Same with the Bhumi Bhowl, very nice distribution of ingredients and the flavor is really good. The employees are super friendly and happy to help you find something that you will enjoy.

Don’t judge my ice cream by its appearance. It was hands down the best Thai-style rolled ice cream I’ve ever had. I ordered the “strawberry mango sticky rice” and it was definitely delicious. I wished Holla Mode was also in Dallas because I haven’t tasted a Thai-style ice cream as good as Holla. Overall a very pleasant experience with remarkably beautiful and friendly staff.

We were so excited to try this place but our experience was not so great. The lady at the counter was rude when taking our orders. Then she made our ice cream and the first one was not rolling and just crumbling, so she just dumped the crumbles into the cup with a couple of rolls. The chocolate one was given to us very messy and sticky on the side. She didn’t wear gloves while making it so the sides all got whatever was on her hands. We paid 6.50 per cup but when asked if they had a kid size, she said, I can put less in there. Lastly the chocolate was super gross.

I’m going to give the taste of these rolled ice cream a 4star, but the CUSTOMER SERVICE........ a zero!!!! The customer service is horrible there. I’ve been to this place 3xs now to see if the service may change, but no, still the same. They have kids running this place. They have usually 3ppl working in this truck, and every time it takes them 15mins to simply put in the order, and another 15-20mins to get ONE cup of rolls. I’m pretty patient, I don’t mind waiting, and they even have a sign that says “worth the wait”. But these kids look like they hate their job, and have an attitude. This place could be a 5 star, if they simply trained the kids some customer service. “We will be right with you” and a “Thank you” will go a long ways. Then the rolls would be worth the wait with some kindness.

We used to love this place but it’s gone so downhill since we started doing pickup instead. Every time we order from them we’re given about half of what in person orders get. Not worth the money anymore.

My husband and I finally made it out, I had been wanting to try this for quite some time. We arrived in line at about 9:40pm. There were 4 people in front of us, and 5 behind us shortly after. One of the employees came out to tell the last guest to relay that they are not taking anymore orders. It was about 9:50 at this time. It made that guest extremely uncomfortable to have to be the one to turn guests away. At about 10:20 we finally got to make an order. The employees were clearly taking their time so that they could spend the last hour doing less work and leaving promptly. I ordered a sweet cream with nutella and almonds. I could tell they forgot the nutella because I found a spoon full of it in the bottom of my cup and not mixed into the ice cream. My husband ordered pineapple, strawberries, and cake. They decided to get creative and add coconut, he hates coconut. We were already disappointed at this point because my cup was less than half full of ice cream, and his was quite bountiful. You can see the pictures below. There were literally 3 rolls of ice cream in my cup and a slush of milk at the bottom. I was so upset we just left, at approximately 10:34. There was plenty of time for those employees to have taken orders, or at least let my ice cream freeze properly and not do such a poor job. We will not go back, and will make sure to warn people of the lack of initiative and sense of urgency. Such a horrible experience!

This is the first time in my life to have rolled ice cream and Holla mode serves really awesome varieties of it. I love all the fruit flavored combinations here. Every time I end up going here I always plan to come back next time. One thing I would expect to change is the service should have much been faster.

This was my first time trying this type of ice cream! I was on a trip down to Austin with the boyfriend, and we decided why not!Needless to say, it was a highlight of the trip. Their specialty flavors accommodated my vegan friend, and it was just SO good to sit down and enjoy during a warm day!

For $7 (+tip) I was told they were out of the two toppings I wanted, and they were out of the the two mix ins I wanted. They wouldn’t take cash, the price they charged me was higher than the price on the menu, and they had to replace ANOTHER topping after they made my ice-cream because they just noticed they were out. The odd concoction I got was mediocre at best.

I really like this place! I came yesterday from Houston and the guy at the register was really kind. He acknowledged that there would be a wait, but it wasnt that long. My mom got the Thai tea ice cream ( I forgot the rest of the name ). I got the strawberry ice cream. Both tasted great! Would definitely come again.

Prob wont be back. Food was okay thought there would be more chocolate on the mint chocolate, could barely taste any. And one staff member wasnt wearing their mask over their mouth while taking orders from the people after us, making the food, and talked over the top of our order... Not the best thing to see during a pandemic.

I ordered the sticky mango ice cream and although the texture of the ice cream was smooth and creamy it had zero mango flavor. I was expecting mango to be either chopped in or put on top or the custard to be mango flavored but I got absolutely no mango at all. All it tasted like was a coconut milk ice cream base. I also got no sticky rice flavor either. I was expecting at least something that resembled mango sticky rice one finds in Thailand and basically any Thai restaurant in the states but I got absolutely nothing other than a plain coconut flavored custard. The only reason the review is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is the custard itself had a smooth and pleasant texture.

Just moved back to austin, I was so excited to get some rolled ice cream because I haven’t had good rolled ice cream in a while. I waited in line to be told they are done taking orders 40 minutes before they close. Would’ve gaven 1 star but it lead me to ‘Frozen Rolls’, best rolled ice cream in austin so far!

The guy working right now at 10pm on Saturday April 18th is terrible. He didnt put any toppings on our ice cream. He just mixed them all in together, so there was no flavor profile. Just chocolate gob. Even worse when we showed up to the truck to pick up our to go, he was missing for several minutes. I have no idea how you go missing in a food truck? When he finally returned, I told him my name and he passed me a bag of ice cream in a bag. He didnt say a word the entire time. Terrible service. Hire better.

Best Thai Ice cream I ever had in Austin! I love how they let you customize your own ice cream. The best thing about this place is the experience. Its pretty interesting watching how they form/roll the ice cream. I dont think you can go wrong with any flavors you get here.
