The entire restaurant is still shut down. You have to be outside and even outside people are in masks. Cool! Waiting for that award for staying shut down the longest. If that’s your goal, you’re certainly on track. When I walked inside I had a man yell that “I can’t be in here without a mask and to go outside!” There was a pile of masks sitting at the counter; I grabbed one and put it on. He then asked if I would just order online in spite of the fact there’s a person standing at the counter ready to take my order? How imbecilic can an entire group of people be? This is a reflection on the owner. I hope you wind up in your rightful position: out of business. I live on this street, but it will be the last time I eat here. If you’re that scared of COVID-19, why don’t you just shut down all the way instead of insulting your guests and acting like you’re making a difference (you’re not).

So so good!! We have donr takeout from them and have gotten: drunken noodles, pad see ew, egg rolls, coconut soup, chicken wingsAll of the dishes are scrumptious and the entrees are close to 2 servings (maybe 1.5)They also have the BEST lemon bar Ive ever had, and lemon bars are my favorite dessert, so that is high praise! They also have cold brew concentrate that really hits the spot in the mornings.Overall, very much love this restaurant and am happy to support an establishment that provides a living wage.

Lovely atmosphere and costumer service when I was dining in here. Currently, they’re just doing outdoor seating. I work close by so I frequently get their breakfast tacos to-go.They’re a nice size and they grill the tortillas (why don’t more places do that?). Other things on the menu that are amazing- green curry, coconut soup(best coconut soup I’ve ever had), and their ice creams! I’ve tried a few other items that were hit or miss, but all in all most of their food is amazing! Just pay attention to your order’s ingredients so you get something you like. Everything is very customizable. Great vegetarian and vegan options.

Perhaps the best Thai food I have found yet in Austin. The cashew stir fry was exactly what it needed to be with the right amount of spiciness. The fried rice had basil in it and gave it a really deep flavor elevating the dish. One quirk is that the tip is included in the bill which is not that obvious. I feel if I came here more often, I would rate it 5 stars. A solid choice in any event.

I love this spot. It’s one of the first real farm to table restaurants in Austin, and the Thai food is legit! Run by a super wholesome couple who care about their guests, ingredients, and staff. AMAZING gluten free treats and desserts, plus gelato, ice cream, and great coffee. They now have a coffee shop side and a restaurant dining side, so it’s a great place for lunch meetings, dinner dates, or a quiet midday coffee and pastry/snack. It’s the best! Don’t let this part of old, awesome Austin fade, go now!

The drunken noodle is my go to always, and even that was very meh today. 😐 sad day.

Significant drop in food quality over the past year. I used to be an advocate for the fresh food and fair wages at Thai Fresh. However, the recent decline in food quality and lack of service has forced me to no longer eat here. The last time we ate here we were given burnt fried rice, over oiled pad thai, and under cooked chicken. Good luck eating here.

This place has been favorite for years but it’s been hit or miss for the last 6 months and more. We typically order the same two things every time and some days it’s overcooked, undercooked or flavorless. I guess because nobody can dine in, there is no quality control since the only place to leave feedback is here. If you have the chance, taste your food before you leave the parking lot—just know it’s a gamble. I hope the owner is paying attention to these reviews. We don’t want to see this restaurant fail, but we may not be ordering again until they open back up.

Havent had food from the kitchen. I went in looking for ingredients for green curry. They wouldn’t let me scan the items like one would walking through a grocery store. Instead I was referred to an online menu that I had to scan a QR code for that was on the outside tables. Hostess wasn’t knowledgeable on the items and I wont hold that against her, but I wasn’t really offered help by any other employees and she acted like I couldn’t get out the door fast enough, as she emphasized “the menu outside” several times. I just felt like I was an inconvenience just for showing up

I think the food & service quality here has dropped over the past year or so. For years I heard amazing things about this place and always saw it packed (pre-pandemic). Finally went for the first time today and was not only disappointed, but directly misled. The online ordering system does not allow you to make any menu item vegan, despite reviews and the main website saying otherwise. I called to confirm that any dishes could be made vegan, and to see what their seating situation was like. They told me that 1) many menu options can easily be made vegan online and 2) that they had both indoor and outdoor seating. We showed up not 20 minutes later to be told by a server that they in fact did not have any indoor seating, and only one item on the kids menu could be made vegan. The food we did get was incredibly over oiled (to the point where it was dripping off of the plate) and some veggies were undercooked. Overall, I’m disappointed in this south Austin spot that I had been looking forward to trying for years.

I loved the appetizers, especially the chicken cracklings. We have only had take-out due to the pandemic, but this is not a problem. We order takeout from here at least once a week. My go-to order is spicy basil fried rice with crispy pork belly. So good!! Thai Fresh is also one of the few gluten free, vegan bakeries that I’ve found which is perfect for my picky household.During the quarantine, we have also used them to get grocery items that are sometimes hard to find at the store (they have eggs, fresh produce, dairy products, gluten free baking supplies, etc).Lastly, we were able to do a virtual cooking class this past weekend and it was an amazing (socially distant) activity! We were able to customize the curry and soup with our own protein and vegetables and they were some of the best meals we’ve made at home. Chef Jam was very informative about the different ingredients and prep / cooking techniques, so it was truly a learning experience.I cannot recommend Thai Fresh enough!

Ive always loved this places baked goods and ice cream options. It had been a while since I last visited, and they definitely did not disappoint! My only complaint would be that their new online ordering system does a terrible job of indicating allergen demarcations on all their non-dessert menu items. On the curries, for example, you can clearly order tofu with each of them... But theres not enough descriptive info available on the menu to determine if the meal would be vegetarian/vegan if ordered that way. (eg would it contain dairy or fish sauce, or...?) In general, more info on whats actually in each menu item would be quite beneficial to the online ordering platform.

As always the food is over the top delicious! I love the mixed vegetables with tofu. My usual Yellow Chicken Curry was great too however they could put a little more chicken in the dish. The only reason I don’t give them a 5 star is the wait staff hospitality is included in the food pricing. So there is no required tipping. It always feels to me that the wait staff isn’t as attentive to my table during my visit. Feels that way every time I come here. I’d prefer to have the staff motivated to provide great service. I guarantee the staff would make more money than their all inclusive plan they work under.

The bakery/coconut ice cream menu is soooo good!! Mostly GF, vegan, so good. That part is 5 stars. However...the food menu *sounds* good, but Thai food should be bursting with sour, salty, spicy flavors and somehow this is some of the blandest Thai food Ive had. It isnt that hard to create all those flavors either but Ive tried a few things so have finally learned my lesson-no more ordering the food unfortunately. But I will definitely go back for baked treats and ice cream again, and the staff seems nice. And I like the easy ordering and take out system.

Extremely meh- this restaurant could do a Tedtalk though on how to brand in a cutsie way that appeals to those wanting to be in the “it crowd” as it is a socially highly regarded restaurant although the base product (the food) is very underwhelming and quite a ripoff relative to the value/what you pay for. Last time I had Thai fresh I got the bleakest, least flavorful, pad Thai I’ve had. It should be called “Sad Thai” because you’ll be depressed trudging through this flavorless noodle bowl that you paid $15-$18 for.

I cant say anything about the ambiance of the restaurant, as we ordered takeout from Thai Fresh last evening. My roommate enjoyed her food a fair amount hence two stars, but honestly I had a less-than-stellar food experience. I ordered a Tofu Massaman Curry with brocolli and potatoes as the two vegetables I picked, and when it arrived it was a brocolli/potato and mushroom curry with NO tofu. I hate mushrooms and went out of my way to not order them, and its just annoying that I ordered Tofu curry only to have not a single cube of tofu in the curry. It was almost $15 for a small amount of what I didnt order, with a too- small amount of brown rice to go with the food. The curry tasted just okay, but Ive had better from other Thai restaurants in Austin. This seems like a good bakery/ice cream shop from the reviews, and I love that they pay a fair wage, but if you want the actual curry I would pass on this place.
