Went in for questions about maintaining my moped and got an oil change /tune-up. They were quick and incredibly helpful. I will definitely recommend/be back
There are a few shops and a few shop owners that you can trust. They may fall behind because they are popular and people trust them so they have a lot on their plate, I get it. But when you want a job done right and the ability to trust that the person doing the work will always tell you the truth and charge you an honest price, you come here, Rathbone is where your bike belongs.
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are fair and I appreciate that Trevor makes a point to communicate what work needs to be done and takes time to explain what’s going on. Best shop in Austin!
Trevor and Rathbone are as quality as it gets. Ive taken my bike to them since they opened up shop years ago and always look forward to the next time I can make a trip over there. They listen. They pay attention. Trevor has no reason to remember me but always calls me by name and knows the bike I ride. Top notch.
Trevor and Jarred own / run a first rate repair shop. I’m a life-long resident of Austin and have used the dealerships and other locals that often left me disappointed. Today Rathbone finished a carb rebuild on my 2000 Kawasaki ZX9R. In a word….perfect job and extremely reasonable. For anyone with an old, aging sportbike, Rathbones is your go to place - they specialize in older Japanese bikes and have several excellent examples on the floor. Ditch the dealerships and use somebody that listens and cares about providing quality repairs at a fair price.Closing comment, this place in no Jiffy-Lube where you ride up, ask for repairs and retrieve your bike in 6 hours. There is line at Rathbone so you’ll have to just get in it, shut up and wait. Shops like this one are rare and you have to wait for quality - be patient.
Got my motorcycle state inspection done quickly and cheaply, just $7
This is my first negative review Ive left at any business.Worst mechanic experience Ive ever had. They take forever, very high prices, and not very good work.I just had a couple of minor issues I needed fixed and a tire change. After weeks of being at the shop the only thing he got to was the tire change yet I wasnt refunded for the stuff I paid for upfront that he never got to.On top of it I was treated so terribly that to me its not even worth the headache of trying to deal with them any further to get my money back. Also Im totally apolitical and didnt need to hear all about their cult like ideology.
Trevor is awesome! He helped me with a pre-purchase inspection. Barring that, he walked me through the rules and paperwork I need to be mindful of. Anybody wanting to get work done on their motorcycle in Austin should visit Rathbone Moto Works. Highly recommended
Had a stripped screw on a pair of roller skates that I tried to get tapped, and though they were beyond repair because of the damage Id done, the team was still willing to give it a try and were more than nice about it! Great guys.
My boyfriend and I took our bikes to get inspected- the owner was there and did it himself and was super friendly and knowledgeable as well! These are our first bikes so it was super nice to have a pleasant conversation with someone knowledgeable, will be coming back here again :)
Went for inspection for my rebal 300. Quick and simple. Parking is very very tight. Older models bikes offered for sale.....not much else to say but I only spent about 5 mins there.
Ive dropped in this place unannounced more than once for small emergency fixes and every time they have squeezed me in on the spot. Both times someone dropped what they were doing and helped me out. Ive also gotten a rear tire mounted, same day. Pricing has been fair.
The team at Rathbone is friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Trevor is professional and thorough in describing the work that needs to be done. Most importantly they run an honest shop.Looking forward to attending the maintenance course. I will definitely be returning my moto here for any and all services.
Have not been there yet, plan on going there
Best guys I know to work on my scooter. Very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Only people I can trust with my scooter.
This is the place to go for your resto/repair. And S/I. Basically one stop shop.People are great too. Love their personality.
First time here for carb work. All I can say is...Trevor is awesome! Bike has never run better.
Trevor and his team provided an extremely high level of service and professionalism working on my 2013 Triumph Bonneville. I was impressed with the quality of the work, the timeliness and reasonable cost. I would highly recommend Rathbone.
Great work and staff. They know their stuff and are super friendly to work with.
Great service at a fair price, the best place to take your bike in town!
Every time I’ve had an issue with any of my past three 2 wheelers, Trevor and his team have been able to get me back on the road. He’s so good that I’ve followed him from all of his past locations even if I had to bring it from further away because I know I will find honesty, expertise and timelines at Rathbone.
I signed up for the motorcycle maintenance class at RMW because I am thinking of getting a bike but want to make sure I know how to take care of it before I do. Trevor taught the class and he was great! We talked about engine basics and safety basics. We walked around and looked at the many bikes in the shop to tell the differences between the models. And then Trevor answered all of my questions and helped me understand what I should reasonably look for to meet my needs in my first bike. Highly recommend this for anyone curious about getting into riding!
Trev always takes care of my bikes, he’s the best 🤙🏽
Excellent service. Friendly staff. Clear expectations set on turnaround time. Check them out!
Rathbone helped me out when I was traveling through Texas from California and my battery died. They are incredibly helpful and knowledge!
Rathbone is easily the best motorcycle shop in Austin. Trevor, the owner, is super approachable and knowledgeable and really seems to be in the game because he loves all kinds of motorcycles. I’ve brought in my Honda XR650 as well as my Harley Superglide to have everything from simple maintenance to motor work done and the work is always done in a timely manner, done right, and at an honest price. He can also order gear and helmets along with the parts and accessories that you’d expect; and he also throws some pretty rad events and parties to bring the motorcycle community together. This is what a local motorcycle shop should be.
Great, quick friendly service, honest and reliable folks.
Best experience I have ever had with a mechanic! Trevor went above and beyond helping my buddy and me with fixing our bikes and getting us ready for a road trip. I can’t not say enough good things about Trevor and the team at Rathbone. Quick turnaround with great prices and I never felt like they were up selling me unnecessary parts or service. I would highly recommend Rathbone to anyone looking for a motorcycle mechanic.Trevor’s also just a really good dude.
Trevor is a stand up dude. Ive had the pleasure of working with him several times, and hes always been honest and up front. He goes above and beyond to make sure everything is working as it should! I recommend him over anyone else.Mitch Berry
Rathbone is the most stand-up moto mechanic shop Ive ever had the pleasure of having work on my bikes. Great work and honesty with a side of knowing their way around all makes and models. They will always be my moto mechanic.
Incredible service. Not only does Rathbone and his staff care about your motorcycle, they also care about your well-being. Goes above and beyond to ensure the job gets done.
Really nice people, honest and reliable.
Best bike shop in town for my 76 Honda - friendly, knowledgeable, and explained everything to me in detail. Bike ran almost like new after a tune up.
Really nobody else I would trust my bike with. Not to say any other shop is bad, but you can sense the passion in what Trevor does and on the basis of that: why would I go anywhere else? Have referred other riders over and theyve also echoed that sentiment. If you are SIN and own a bike youd be doing yourself a disservice going anywhere else.
Trevor is a straight shooter, clear communicator and runs a talented shop. He and his team fixed what I thought was a catastrophic failure. My bike is running great now Im thankful for their service!
Trevor runs an honest and skillful motorcycle shop. Rates and quality are better than anywhere else I’ve been. He did more for me than he had to and I won’t be taking my bike anywhere else.
Nicest guy in the world. Also fast, knowledgeable, honest, and affordable . Couldn’t recommend him more.
Honesty, fair pricing, quality work.
Trevor Rathbone took care of me and me motorcycle multiple times. He does awesome work. He did my handlebars, carburetor, and regular motorcycle upkeep. Hes gets your bike in and out fast, for a fair price, and hes a super cool guy.
Best mechanic I’ve gone to. Trevor and the team went the extra mile to repair my bikes and all at a very fair price. Awesome experience overall.
Trevor will treat you right! Great shop, quality service and a fair price. I’ve found my new go-to place for anything I need.
I picked up a Vulcan 500 for cheap that was beat to hell. Rathbone went above and beyond. Now the bike rides like new. I wont bring my bikes to anyone else after the experience. Super honest, great prices, and great guys.
This shop is great! Genuinely nice people, good prices, and I was in-and-out quickly for an oil change w/o an appt.
Trevor at Rathbone Moto Works is an honest, reliable mechanic. He completes projects quickly and at a fair price. Doesnt hurt thats hes a super nice guy too.
It would behove you to go to this shop, the owner is great, highly knowledgeable, and always helpful to your questions & needs.
Trevor is awesome took both bikes in to get inspected i love his honesty .. He took care of my husbands bike with new tires and tune up very very reasonable thanks Trevor you are the bomb..
Got the job done right, the best way possible, taking the time they needed to use to fix my bike, without over doing it or charging too much.
My scooter had a flat while visiting Austin for a week. Trevor was the only guy on the east side that knew how to fix it (and speak english). He ordered the tube and the next morning installed it. I couldnt have been a happier customer.Looking forward to something going wrong again with my bike so I can give him more business!
I can not say enough good things about Trevor and Rathbone moto. First of all, he is the most genuine and honest guy in the bike repair industry. He fixed up my 1995 Yamaha Virago xv 535 for a fraction of the price another bike repair shop quoted me at. The bike was done exactly on time and when I went to pick it up he spent quality time showing me exactly what he did to my bike. Do yourself a favor and drop your bike off with Trevor, I promise you will not be dissapointed. Thanks again man!- Dylan
Im a new motorcyclist and came in with a used bike that wasnt maintained very well. I had my oil changed, a tire replaced and a few odds and ends fixed and he filled up the gas tank. Trevor was very friendly and I plan to call him with any issues I might have with my fun new transportation.
So glad I found these guys! I was referred here by another Ducati owner and thank heavens I listened! I’d been to two mechanics prior for the exact same issue in the clutch of my ‘05 Multistrada. It took Trevor no time to logically diagnose my issue and resolve it. I’m a busy, needy client and I was beyond stoked with the level of customer service I got; this place is so pro. I’ll definitely be back.
I cant thank the team at Rathbone enough for all the help on my cheap Chinese box scooter. Even though my scooter was supposed to come assembled, it wasnt. I called Trevor, and he said he doesnt usually work on those Chinese scooters, but was kind enough to help me. Also, the tow guy Malé from ATX Motorcycle towing was amazing, and helpful. There was no judgement or nastiness you might get from the other guys. Trevor also road tested, and inspected it for me. I cant thank all of you enough. ~ Stacy
Excellent. Truly excellent. Trevor is an honest mechanic who does great work for reasonable prices.
Good service at a fair price
Best motorcycle shop in Austin. Trevor fixes bikes quickly at a competitive price.
Best shop in town! Fixed up my Honda VTX in no time. Thought i needed a carb cleaning and valve adjustment. After checkin it out Trevor let me know the carb was in good shape and only the valves needed to be worked on. Could have taken me to the cleaners and charged me anyway (like most shops in town), but he didnt. Only charged me for two hours of labor and my bikes running better than ever! Honesty, quality work, and fair pricing. Best shop in town!
Since I began riding a motorcycle (2017 Yamaha YZF-R3) in mid-2017, I naively thought that the service department of the dealership would be able to handle routine scheduled services with no issue. Unfortunately, I soon learned that such an expectation was too high. Although the safety of the motorcycle was never compromised after servicing, minor issues such as chain lubrication or clutch/throttle free play were left undone or remained out of specification. On one occasion, my bike was returned to me with the protective tubing around my windscreen detached and dangling. So, when I needed significant repairs done to my 2018 Yamaha MT-09 after misjudging my line and careening along the concrete girder of an exit ramp, I was extremely hesitant to have the dealership complete the fixes. Fortunately, Malé Reyes of ATX Motorcycle Towing, recommended that I contact Trevor at Rathbone Moto Works, and I am incredibly glad that I did.First, Trevor treated me not like another customer, but as the only customer. He listened to my concerns about my previous experiences at the dealership, and he took the time to walk me through the process of the repair job. He even worked with my insurance claim adjuster directly to make sure the right parts were ordered for the bike. And, after the repairs were complete, he walked me through the process again as we walked around the bike, allowing me to check his repairs with no intervention. All in all, I was completely satisfied with his work, which he stood behind, and I highly recommend his services even for those who have late model motorcycles. Since this repair job, he has expertly installed an aftermarket clip-on adapter set for the MT-09, which the dealership was also unable to manage. And, he will be replacing several parts soon, including the gas tank, that were recently damaged when another vehicle backed into my parked bike, knocking it over.Be confident in knowing that your motorcycle will be well worked on and hire Trevor as your mechanic. You wont be disappointed.
Good prices. Fast turnaround. Good dudes. 5/5
Fast turnarounds, accurate work, fair prices, pick ups and next level service. Great shop.
Trevor was super friendly and very helpful. Ive been looking for a shop like this, and will be back.
Cool people to meet, go check them out
Trevor has done some amazing work on an old scooter I bought off a friend at a ridiculously good price, and in even better time than anywhere else would have done for me.
Wouldnt trust anyone else to work on my bike
Good people
