Went in with my daughter to get a birthday bear, there was only one employee on the sales floor but he was an absolute pleasure..it was a little busy so he definitely could have used some help but, THANK YOU MICHAEL! You are a rockstar! You gave us a great experience and i will be back because of you.
It was great my wife and I wanted bears so we went and got some the staff were very pleasant
You cannot find something good here
Love it and the people who work there are awesome
Very disappointing. Tried to go on a Saturday a few weeks ago, and the hours were not updated online (now that we are 6 months into covid, i think they should update he online hours) so my son was disappointed. We tried to go this past Sunday, and the hours showed 12pm open. We arrived at 12pm (pushing my sons nap time) and we were told by the associate they still needed to clean and it would be another 20 minutes or so. While i respect cleaning during covid, it was noon on Sunday. Someone didn’t appear to show up to work on time, nor care about making a little boy happy. I was ready to spend money, and they didn’t want it. I won’t be giving my business to build a bear any longer.
This was our first experience and let me tell you it was perfect!!!! The staff went above and beyond!!! I wish every store had so much happiness in it!!! You could tell they all loved their job and making kids happy! We will definitely be back!!! A++++++
I was recently in the store and the service was absolutely horrible, all the employees with the exception of the person who helped me stuff my bear were rude and obnoxious. All I wanted was a last minute gift for my niece. I’m very disappointed in how my own kind can be so ignorant at times
It was fantabulous! It was loads of fun. They had a great selection in both bears and clothes. We got birthday presents and it was awesome! Birthdays done!
The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. The business model is essentially extortion: cute bears with costumes and accessories that are purchased separately. At significant expense... unless you dont mind your child crying.
The girl that stuffed my daughters bear was the only worker in the store. She was nice enough but definitely wasn’t what I expected whenever coming into a kids store. Maybe train the staff to be more friendly or at least kid friendly. The store was very clean!
We are on vacation from Utah! The staff was so friendly, very helpful, and we had a great time. Store is very clean and organized!
My children and I had an AMAZING experience. The staff was very organized and friendly. We will be going back!! ❣️❣️
Staff was amazing! They were very helpful and my nieces wanna go back. EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!!! U GUYS ARE SOOO AMAZING!!❤
Great staff, they were able to help me pick something out as a gift.
Worst experience at a Build a Bear! Came in for my daughters birthday. Got ignored, every time we would try to walk up to someone for help they would walk away. Finally got someones attention and asked for the birthday bear. They told me they would help me once they finished check the other person out. They didnt and helped someone else. I than asked another girl for help after she had helped yet another person that came in after us. Another person came in for a birthday bear after us and the girl gave the last birthday bear (Im assuming cause our bear didnt have the happy birthday foot) to the person behind us. Every person we came into contact with at this store was rude to us yet seemed to be very nice to everyone else. Will never go back!
If I could give negative stars, I would. Terrible. Corporate did not even get me in touch with a manager or make me want to return to any location .I am utterly disappointed. My husband entered a Build-a-Bear location many months ago when he wasn’t even with our kids, but he said the excitement of the employees working there was enough to sell him. We had never been before, but he purchased a gift card so we could take our two children for a special experience. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but. Today (12/29/19)we took our five and seven-year-old to the Baltimore Harbor location. We were visiting with a family member, and we thought it might be a magical time to try it out. The kids were so enthusiastic, and the store was empty except for the two employees who were sitting at the machine used for stuffing the animals. They barely gave us a glance when we walked in. We greeted them, and they barely replied. As I mentioned, we had never been before, and we were confused about what to do. The employees did not make us feel comfortable to even ask how the process worked. Our kids each chose a stuffed animal, and to be honest, I was rushing them because I felt unwelcome in the store, but I could not leave without explaining it to my kids at this point. After they selected animals and an accessory, one of the employees filled the stuffed animals. My son (five years old) loves to talk to everyone, and he was asking her how the machine worked and making adorable comments, but the employee did not even acknowledge him. It was heart-breaking to me since this store caters to kids. I do not understand why these two individuals were even hired by Build-a-Bear, as it was so incredibly clear that they did not enjoy working with kids or the job, in general. After we thought we were finished and ready to check out, one of the employees gruffly asked if we had printed a birth certificate. Again, we had no idea what we were doing since they never asked if we had been to Build-a-Bear or greeted us in any way; she told us to go to the birth certificate station as if we were idiotic for not realizing it was the next step. During the time we were there, one employee was talking to another about how she planned to quit her job there because she did not enjoy it.The customer service we received during this experience was abysmal. The product Build-a-Bear sells is grossly overpriced; however, we had heard you are mostly paying for the experience. We are all about surprising our kids with unique, fun experiences, so we were prepared for paying for the experience of the process of Build-A-Bear, but this was far from what we had imagined. I hope this account of our experience will alert your company’s hiring practices. Your staff should be hired for their vibrant personalities and desire to work with people, particularly young children with imaginative minds. The staff representing your company should be invested in the company’s product and extend positive energy in the process of building a bear --- it should be a magical experience for children that makes families want to stay and return. I am certain we will never return to that Build-a-Bear location, and I am not sure we will ever return to Build-a-Bear in general again. Honestly, it was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered, and if there was a way I could have dragged both of my kids out of there without purchasing, I would have, but I did not wish to punish my own kids for the apathy of your employees. If all of the employees at the Baltimore Harbor location are similar to the two we interacted with tonight, I imagine the location is failing miserably. Please take a hard look at your hiring practices and the character of your employees. It just might save you from losing additional customers in the future.
I wish I could give a -0, we came to this location on 1-19-18. We had 5 little girls with us due to a sleepover. We paid $15.00 to park, walked in the rain, got there at 7:32pm only to see 3 women walking out the back locking the door. The website states they are open until 9pm. I contacted corporate and they are going to give me 200 points for the inconvenience. I almost had to laugh.... $20.00 lol, what about the $15.00 in parking and the 5 little girls that were heartbroken?
Staff is great ! Me and my kids definitely will be back 😘
Great experience for the kids. Associates were very helpful.
At the Downtown Baltimore location on 11/26/2018 It was my first time ever going in to Build A Bear and & we enjoyed every moment spent in there. Chaniya & Lanae were AWSOME!!! from the moment we came in the store, they helped us (me,my 3 old niece & her mom) with explaining everything from what the sales were too what the process was that we were going to do, honestly ive never seen my niece so Happy!! 😊 even with the way Chaniya was playing with her while making the bear it was soo cute, me and her mom couldnt hold our tears back. & i am so grateful for them because they truely know the meaning of customer service!!! We had an excellent time and will most definitely be coming back. Thank you again Lanae & Chaniya!!!! Keep up the good work!! & Thank you Build a Bear for existing!! ❤️
