Called ahead today to verify if the store was closing early due to weather. Was promised the would be open until 5. Showed up at 3:30 to a closed store. 4 employees saw me knocking at the door and hid in the back. 10 min and 4 calls to the store later Ben answered. He refused to release my repaired bike despite their earlier promise to be there til 5. Horrible service. Horrible selection. Will not ever spend another nickel at this location. Do not shop here if service is important to you. It is not important to them!!!!
Excellent bicycle store! Very helpful and good products. They also are great at fixing and tune ups on bikes.
Trust these fellas to not nickel and dime you, and keep your bike running smooth. best bike shop in town by a mile.
Gosh, my sweet 85 year old father was banned from this store. The manager was so ridiculously rude and condescending to him. He just wanted his fender adjusted and he was treated with incredible disrespect and suspicion. Its amazing that people are allowed to act this way in the retail industry. Shame shame.
Shocking how this establishment treats their patrons when they think no one is looking. Clayton is NOT to be trusted if you are a new cyclist trying to get started. He knowingly sold us unsafe equipment for our new bike and lashed out when asked to replace with manufacturer’s recommended equipment. Clearly, Capital City is more interested in the sale than the safety of their customers.
Top notch cycle shop. Have made multiple purchases from here over the years.
I will get with tomorrow morning as soon as possible the Schwinn is a later ver6of bike we have its all aluminum built customly fashion.bi imagine in my mind to how I would want yo we work again..
Abusive to customers. MANAGER IS HORRIBLE- DO NOT BUYFROM THIS PLACE!!
Amazing customer service! Clayton and his team are honest, fair and great at what they do. On numerous occasions they have gone above and beyond to ensure quality and satisfaction. So glad to have them in BR!!!
Awful experience! The manager should be fired
Friendly service, very clean and impressive showroom. Will be back to buy more bikes in the future!
Clayton was very helpful and took the time to explain the nuances and differences between types of bikes. He was knowledgeable and very friendly. When the bike i want is back in stock, i want to buy it from him at this location.
I was looking for 26 Gum wall mountain big tires. No common at all. The Sales associate Clayton took his time to really look them up help me while explaining the difference between the kinds I asked about. A#1 customer service. Thanks!
Very knowledgeable. Helpful and attentive. Profession on generous. Quality service . I got a new tire with 2 new tubes And two valve caps For my wheelchair which had a flat and a damaged tire. Thanks!!
The staff at this location was so helpful and attentive. Very knowledgeable and didnt mind sharing it. This is the best location in the Baton Rouge area when it comes to customer service. Even tho the pandemic has caused a bike shortage and they didnt have what I needed they educated me on what to buy! I will be back.
Clayton and Brandon were super knowledgeable and helpful.
I came to this Capitol Cyclery location looking for a couple of accessories for my newly purchased bike. The accessories selection appear to be adequate. The 2 star rating is due to the fact that neither of the store employees bothered asking if I needed any help and actually ignored me as they carried on their own loud conversation. I have been to the Florida Boulevard Capitol Cyclery location several times and their customer service is MUCH better.
This is by far the best bike shop I have ever been in. A couple of weeks ago my husband and I purchased a pair of bikes here and although we went into the store with different mindsets, we both left incredibly satisfied. My husband is a bigger rider and went in with this is my size, this is what we’re expecting for riding, what do you suggest for me and they got him fitted into a bike that suited his needs. I on the other hand went in with very specific features of what I wanted out of a bike and had already had in mind what I wanted. They encouraged test drive and even encouraged me to think it over and come back, but they gave me the confidence and reinforced what I had already researched so we took the plunge. The bikes have been amazing for what we have been doing on them and the maintenance that we have had to have done on the bikes has been absolutely top notch. We live about an hour away but will drive to this location any and every time because of their service and attention to detail. They’re top notch!
Great customer service. Extremely knowledgeable. Brandon and Clayton are awesome! 10/10. Thank you!!!!
These guys are awesome! Ive been going here for the last 15 years...super friendly and knowledgeable, share repair info and are really into bikes, not just salesmen. Clayton is the man! Thanks for all these years of service and support
I can not speak highly enough of these guys - they are helpful and they care about their customers. I have been using these guys for a couple of year now and they always do an awesome job and their are very fair and reasonable with their prices. Recently they helped me untangle my chain and didnt charge me even when I insisted and they kept two bike boxes for me so I could pack for moving house. They didnt need to do either of these things but they did.Hope they have a bike shop and guys like these where I am headed. Thanks fellas.
Absolutely horrible customer service very rude. Went there to look at mountain bikes I understand they are monitoring how many come in the store however there were like 2 in there wouldn’t let us in. Said they would bring bike out no way to look at accessories
I bought a new bike from this location and received wonderful service on that transaction... but on the other hand I had several older bikes worked on and I felt kinda like I got cheated. I wound up having to finish the repair job myself. Oh well.
First off, its a huge bike shop! Biggest one Ive been to. The staff is nice and helpful, bunch of cool young guys, bike enthusiastics who were very kind to me. Lots if inventory and mechanics available. Go there, its so big you can go for an indoor bike ride 😀
These guys made my day. I’m an enormous guy at 6’6, 375lbs. I’ve had other bike shops suggest that industrial bicycles like the giant single speed things they use in chemical plants would be the only possible way for me to ride. I’m a little self conscious around all the super slim cyclists in these places. But not these guys. Didn’t bat an eye and set about hooking me up. Ended up with a Trek Marlin7 and I couldn’t be more grateful for the guys at this shop. Amazing service, excellent pricing, just an all around great experience.
The guys are chill and I always come out learning a little more about my bike.
The people that work here a always nice and friendly. They have helped me with both big and small projects and have always been super nice and easy to deal with.
Guys at this location really care and treat their customers right. Thanks Capitol Cyclery Essen Lane.Clayton and his staff rocks. If you go elsewhere to purchase or repair your bike, you will regret it. Essen Lane location is the best...
Best shop in BR
I originally purchased a bike at the Florida Blvd. location in June 2018. I took my bike to the Capitol Cyclery on Essen Lane in Baton Rouge a few months later to have my rear tire repaired. I was on the phone with one of the mechanics asking questions about the repairs that were needed and he got agitated because he couldnt explain what was wrong with my bike. When I came to pick up my bike, I asked for the manager so that I could tell him about the poor customer service the mechanic provided over the phone and he basically made excuses for the mechanic. He said that he was a good mechanic, hes usually not the best at explaining things, and that he is a work in progress. That response that I got tells me that the manager is completely aware of the continuity of his bad customer service skills. There are absolutely no excuses for bad customer service and if this is the case, my suggestion would be to either learn better customer service skills or stay away from the phones if you cannot answer simple questions. Tim was the name of the mechanic and Clayton was the manager who I dealt with at the time. All in all, the manager was unapologetic about the situation. I left with the feeling that this would not be handled and that he condones this type of behavior. I sent my complaint to the corporate office regarding this particular location because of my experience. Bad customer service is unacceptable and it MUST stop. I have learned that it you dont say anything, it will continue. Hopefully, things will progress but in the meantime, I will not be going back to the Capitol Cyclery/Essen Lane location to have my bike serviced.
I had a amazing experience they let me no what was wrong and they helped me get some things done on my bike so Im stoked on that and they hade amazing service
Needed a minor derailleur adjustment and they got me in and took care of business while I waited. Thanks, Kyle!Capitol Cyclery does it once again, as Tim determines the source of my bike creaking and gets it straight. My expectations were exceeded in terms of how quickly my bike was ready. Thanks so much!
Excellent bicycle store. Very helpful reps and good products. They also are great at fixing and tune ups on bikes
Guys Helped me out immediately. No complaints here!!!!
I bought my bike from Capitol Cyclery and theyve been very nice and professional to do business with. My kickstand recently fell off and they quickly put it back on when I brought in the bike. Id buy another bike from them as they seem trustworthy and very knowledgeable in the bike business. The manager was very friendly, as well.
Always helpful! Been going here for a long time.
Excellent service. Brandon was very helpful.
I was touring cross country, pedaling up the MIssissippi River, when I had a breakdown. Stranded in Baton Rouge. They got on it right at opening and tried to NOT charge me! I insisted on paying. These are good, good, people. Count on it.
Went in for a repair on a childs bike, and bought a new bike for myself. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and customer service oriented. Had an excellent experience.
I’ve had a good experience in the past w this shop and hope to soon again. I showed up today, Sunday, January 12, 2020. Despite the website and the sign at the road saying they open at 1, there is a sign on the door that says closed Sundays. I’m not mad y’all aren’t open on sundays but a bit annoyed that I made a special trip w my bike.
I walked in the other day looking to purchase my first Hybrid ($500). I looked around for about 45 mins waiting for someone (anyone) to offer assistance.....nothing! I walked out (no one ever said a word to me) and went and purchased at another local shop, which I will leave a separate review for. Their loss.
What an awesome place. Great dealership for Trek and Cannondales. Bought a Trek MTB 4 years ago from the Florida branch, and just recently bought a new Trek road bike from this branch. This one is my favorite, as they have a huge selection, and the guys working there are down to earth, and you can easily hold a conversation with them and learn what is best for you. Dustin, Gabe, and Clayton were all awesome to me, and Im sure the others are as well. I was able to try every bike I was interested in, and they offered to fit it just right for me very quickly. I even got to speak with Bob (the owner of CC) and he taught me a few things, while cracking a few jokes. All in all -- great store, great workers, overall fun place to be in.
Good guys, great shop, excellent service center.
Need to learn phone skills.
Horrible customer service experience.
Very poor customer service...they behave that they are the only one in town....had to wait about an hour just to speak with someone and then a guy comes and tells me that it would take about 15 days to assemble a kids bike (which was almost assembled) which i had taken there just to check if screws/bolts are tighten....
Everything is overpriced.I was over charged for a flat tire and brake job.The break job is half way done. They just got it back to where it was when we decided to motify it for lack of use.
Have met one friendly employee over the course of multiple visits. Other employees and manager were rude, disrespectful, and uncaring. There are better bike shops in the area with respect to customer service and satisfaction.
I took a spill on a slick wet patch of road and landed on my a**. My bike landed on its SRAM Red rear derailleur and twisted the hanger. The experts at Capitol cyclery (Essen, on a Sunday) tweaked my baby back in shape as soon as I walked in the door and charged me a pittance!Definitely my Baton Rouge cycling hookup!
Had derailers adjusted. Excellent/ fast service. Had it working perfectly in 15 mins
Great service and staff
Outstanding customer service. We had a problem with a bike we purchased from them and they were very helpful.
This is a repost of a review I left several years ago. Somehow they had it removed, more than once. They dont even deserve 1 star but thats the lowest rating the system will allow. Dont by from these jokers. They will surely try to scam you. These people destroyed a $1100 Lefty, put it on with the wrong parts, and refused to rectify the situaion.I eventually purchased a new lefty and had a competent shop do the work. Thanks to Capital Cyclery, it cost me nearly $2000 to get my bike right.Do your self a favor and stay far away. There are other quality shops in Baton Rouge and if you dont like they, its better to drive to Lafayette or New Orleans.
I gotta give props where deserved.I took my 5-year old son to buy a bike, and stopped in at about 30 min before closing on a weekday. My son was nervous, a bit clumsy, and very self-conscious. The staff member who helped us (an air force vet so yall know who Im talking about) was extremely patient and courteous, treated him like a person with respect and dignity, helped him stay up on the bike to build confidence, and very patiently made numerous micro-tweaks to the seat height so it would be just right for him.Buying my son his first bike was one of those moments that we, as parents and fathers, look forward to in life. I am grateful to the staff for being so cool during the experience. Bonus points for not being impatient because it was otherwise the end of the day.If you are looking to buy a bike and are seeking a place where they arent just trying to make a high-dollar sale (I also bought a bike there earlier that month, and my going there was repeat business for good service from a different staff member), or if youre ushering your child into the world of cycling, Id highly recommend braving the Essen Lane traffic to visit this location (which, I might add, has been there for as long as I can remember in my 40 years of life).
Great local bike shop, very knowledgeable and courteous.
Great place to go, excellent, expert service also!
Great customer service and knowledgeable staff. I have gotten a few bikes from this store over the years.
Paid $75 for a tune up and still have the same problem I had told the employee. They couldnt even clean my bike or put air in the tires. I live too far to be going back and forth. Had hoped for that much money my bike would be taken care of.
I have no idea what these people are talking about. About a year ago, I decided to convert an old bicycle into a moped. I went here after no avail for parts from other stores and was immediately greeted and helped. I needed a sprocket, and the guy went to the back to try and find one. During this time, I was offered to be helped by not one, but two other people (this is a 3-5 minute window here, people). The guy came back with the perfect size I needed, and gave me a great price.I recently went back there to purchase a nice mountain bike. I had the same experience. I was greeted (by the same guy actually), and he told me absolutely everything about every bike he thought, and I thought, would be a good bike, and then suggested the Gary Fisher Wahoo. He did so, not because of price (it was a little more expensive and $549), but because I told him all of the troubles I had been having with crummy Wal-Mart bikes, and we went over step by step why this bike is better, and how it would help out. He let me test drive it, and when I decided to go for it, he took it back, did a full work up of it, and even showed me how to adjust the derailure and all.The very next day, I went in to buy a helmet. I had the same experience, and then inquired about pedals because the plastic ones were wearing already. The guy helped me find new ones, and then even installed them for me for free, while giving me a discount for when I purchased it.Once again the next day, I had an accident while biking and ended up bending a few teeth on the sprocket. The guy immediately took it back and began work on it. About 5 minutes later he came out and told me that they didnt have a replacement crank, but to save me some time and money with ordering it that he would try and bend it back into place. I left, and half an hour later I got a call from him and he told me that it was as good as new. When I went to pick it up, he told me that I had actually done more damage than I thought, and like when I bought the bike went over it with me. Best part is, I wasnt even charged for it.I have no idea what these other people are talking about. Maybe they went to a bike store and Jesus himself helped them. But these guys are amazing, well priced, and will receive my business for as long as they are around.P.S. Sorry for the long review, but I just love these guys.
Knowledgeable staff who are patient, friendly, and helpful. Will be returning.
Knows their stuff, and very willing to help you on anything.
Da bomb. Went to three shops. This is the best one.
Great and quick service by amazing staff!
Great service
Manager is not customer friendly. Antagonistic attitude. Really disappointing. Need to buy a few new bikes and will go elsewhere.
Very helpful folks
Very friendly place. Especially the manager!!
Nice customer support.
Polite and professional staff!
