Convenient location, clean experience with well stocked shelves, top quality meats, and deli/prepared foods. They have a great selection of wines and liquors. The prices are reasonable. The cashiers are friendly and checkout times are brief. My kids love the gumball machine.

I like Calvins because they have excellent prepared foods - great for those nights you don’t wAnna cook. And daily hot lunch plate specials.They have desserts that are made in store like bread pudding and peach cobbler.And a good selection of specialty / local items like jams and dressings, etc.Then, a nice lady (I presume the owner’s wife but not sure) unloaded my basket for me at the checkout and the owner personally loaded the bagged groceries in my car. Noticed employees without masks (during a surge in the pandemic) on my last visit. Not willing to shop there if they dont take health and safety seriously. I try to shop local in smaller stores to protect my husband and MIL.

I am never shopping here ever again. I have come into Calvins a handful of times to buy my groceries and of course their chicken salad. But none of the employees were wearing their masks properly; some wearing face shields, which do nothing, and others not even wearing anything at all. Covid 19 is still an issue and this store acts like its not. I watched multiple customers enter without wearing a mask, yet they were welcomed in happily by the manager. I can live without chicken salad if that means I can avoid catching Covid from this store.

I went to Calvins Market on Jefferson Hwy on Saturday, October 31st to purchase their chicken salad ( which by the way is delicious)and the customer service was HORRIBLE! As I walked in everyone was at their posts, the young adults behind registers, the baggers and the older gentleman that usually stand to the side was there too, no one greeted me. The older man working produce gave off ugly vibes, all the employees seemed like they are angry and scared. I notice the employees at Calvins greet Caucasian people, but not African Americans. I have gone in their before, customer service was lacking but not like on October 31st. My money is green and spends like anyone elses money, but it seems like my presence is not wanted or needed in Calvins Market. On top of that the chicken salad wasnt as good as usual, I guess the hostility, the poor customer service and the racial divide infiltrated the chicken salad. I will look around for a welcoming place that sells chicken salad!

They have the best chicken salad and baby sandwich trays in town. Yum Yum Yum is all I can say. I have brought their baby sandwiches to many events and they are always a huge hit.

This is a nice place to shop because its convenient and family-owned, but the selection is limited, and the items are priced rather highly. They do have a nice cooked meals section with staples such as macaroni and cheese and chicken. They are very nice and well order foods for you if there is something you cannot find.

Used to shop here 3-5 times a week. I always overlooked occasional expired product, towels constantly lining their freezers, or their over pricing of their poorly graded meat selection and alcohol. The fresh juicer in the produce selection Ive seen filled with moldy oranges multiple times. Reached a breaking point with when I bought orange juice expired by 2 months and spent the rest of the day on the toilet....They have great customer service, but I will be visiting one of the other 5 grocery stores within a 3 mile radius in the future.

This is the best service in town, there is never a wait for a register, a manager will even open another register to check you out. They always offer to take my groceries to the car for me. The wine selection in large and they are very knowledgeable about their wines. The cashiers are all very friendly, and the food is always fresh, there are many stores in the area, but no one beats their service.

***The BEST shocking experience*** I went there in search of something you cant find anywhere in the Baton Rouge area... Robert Rothschild products I love to cook with. I had to go on the official website to in hopes find a store locator or pay shipping cost to order and found out that Calvins Bocage had products in store. I drove there and immediately was greeted with a smile and a Do you need help today? I alerted the nice guy what I was looking for and he pointed me right to it! I told him what I had to do just to find the product and he laughed and said Well we always keep it in stock! Then guess what???? He introduced himself to me and the entire time I had no clue I was talking to the actual owner Mr. Calvin himself! Lol! I immediately told him how I have been buying the chicken salad dip out of there for years and it was a complete pleasure meeting him! I have been to plenty of locally owned grocery stores in Baton Rouge since I moved here but never have I EVER met such a genuinely sweethearted soul like Mr. Calvin before! You would think that paying 1.5-2x the price for small town service would actually come with small town service, but it doesnt. I have bought wine there, among other things, 1-2 times a week for years and today I forgot my wallet, but had my debit card. The owner/manager, who I see almost every time I go and sees me buy wine basically every time, was right there. He wouldnt sell me the wine because I didnt have my ID (Im 30 years old and dont look a day under 30), and he actually made a joke at my expense. Ill be shopping at whole foods from now on.
