Paolo and Scott are excellent. I had some work done (at least I thought I did) at Concord BMW, turns out Paolo was able to confirm that what BMW said they were going to do didn’t actually happen. They said they changed the oil and filter and filled my urea tanks for my diesel, turns out none of that was even done. My oil level was low, the drain plug was untouched and the urea tank was only at 17%. Paolo added almost 5 gallons. Crazy, and angering.The main reason I was actually in there was because of an ABS/stability sensor malfunction. When I was at Concord BMW, they changed some bushings, and while the XDrive was taken apart, they never attached the ABS sensors back to the grommets that hold them in place, so when I turned the wheels, it pinched the wires, causing them to rub and fail.Over $2,000 spent at Concord BMW, and they made my car worse with their sloppy and incomplete work.Paolo and Scott fixed everything and recommended future service, but never forced anything on me. In this day and age, it’s good to know there are still honest mechanics out there. Paolo will have my business as long as I have my car. I highly recommend him and Scott.

When I lived in SF I had a great BMW mechanic, and now it seems Ive found his equal in the East Bay! Last year I bought a used 2012 BMW 328i with every tech package available from a reputable 3rd party reseller, where the car had gone through a full diagnostic exam. Although the car has been running well it was getting time for its scheduled service, and this is where I feel very lucky to have found Paolos shop. I reached out via text message and he was very prompt, patient, and friendly in his communications. He took time out of his evening, after closing hours, to run a full computer diagnostic, during which he found countless electrical errors, a problem with the battery, and worn out brakes. He gave me an on the spot estimate which I agreed to.The next day he emailed me a full report of the diagnostic result, every error code and what it indicated, as well as his own analysis of what needed to be done. The report contained a detailed estimate, and after the work was done the same day, thats exactly the price I paid. He also showed me the updated computer scan showing all the error codes were gone. The car came back freshly cleaned inside and out and running like a champ.A week later Paulo proactively reached out to me and offered to do another full computer diagnostic to make sure nothing had resurfaced since he completed the work (it hadnt).So to summarize - great customer service, quality workmanship, and fair pricing. Cant beat that!

I have used Paulo and Benicia Motor Works to service our BMW X5. I used BMW service centers in 2 different states when I was not living in Benicia and the dishonesty from them and their in ability to diagnose the issues is mind-blowing. With Paulo not only has he been able to diagnose the issue with my BMW that the service center could not. I will be moving out of state again and will not be able to use his service but has told me, if you ever have any issue and have to take it in, to call him and let him know the issues are and how they are going to repair it and he will walk me through what I need to know and the questions I should ask. I dont know any other mechanic that will do that. Best in the business.

We have a 2006 BMW650I Convertible. On our way to Tahoe, all kinds of warning lights came on. We had the car towed to Benicia Motor Works. The day after the the car was towed, my husband survived a major stroke. It is my husbands car and I really dont know anything about cars. I was focused on my husbands recovery. Paulo had to assess the car and it was a very complicated electrical problem. He is a true expert in these cars. He explained every step and worked with me to repair the car over the next 7 months. He had to deal with our insurance company and it added more time, effort and complexities. Paulo was persistent, knowledgeable, and very service oriented. Even the insurance inspectors respected Paulos knowledge and experience. If it were not for Paulos expertise, patience and kindness, I could not have gotten through the last 8 months. Once my Certified Preowned Warranty expired with BWM, Ive since had my 2013 X5 serviced at Benicia Motorworks. The owner Paulo and his service technicians do a great job keeping the car running great. They also provide a quick turnaround and Paulo calls to keep you updated on the progress. I also had the tires replaced this past December. Paulo ordered some Michelins that were shipping from Reno. Due to heavy snow on 80, the shipment got delayed. I needed my car as I was heading out of town the next day. Paulo was able to find some Continental Run Flats in the Bay Area and went to pick them up himself. They had the tires replaced that night and I was able to leave town the next day. This last visit I had my oil and filter changed. Again quick turnaround and the car runs great. Highly recommend Benicia Motorworks for your car service needs.

Brought my 98 BMW 540i to Paulo after reading his good reviews. The car had problems with the manual shifter. It was nice to have the opportunity to talk with the person that would actually be doing the work, instead of trusting some random person at a dealership or larger shop. Awesome service!! Heard a clunk near my tire before setting out for vacation with van full of family and belongings. I, of course, freaked about the safety of the vehicle with my littles in it. They let me bring it in to check it despite it being 3pm on a Friday before a holiday weekend and not even the speciality vehicle they work on. I was beyond impressed that they took the time to check it out for us and didn’t even charge for their trouble. I see no reason to ever go anywhere else for auto repair needs!I recently replaced my recalled 2014 VW Sportwagen TDI with a 2004 VW R32. This classic car is exceptionally fun to drive, but came with a repair price tag that was higher than what I bought for. Paulo was thorough in his diagnostics and walked through the entire estimate with me to identify the top priority items. Paulo serviced my car with new shocks, wheels/tires, brakes all within a week. He was communicative through the whole process, and always gave me a fair view of price vs value-add. Consistently Spectacular Service. Brought my Z4 in because the week prior my engine oil low light came on. I added 1 QT and called Paolo to make sure there wasnt an issue. Realized then that the car was overdue for oil service...and had over 100K miles on it so had him check out the whole car. I usually drive it like I stole it! Had all major work done and am now good for another 100K (except I will need new brakes, tires) before then. When the car ended up staying longer than planned due to some 3-way hose that wasnt delivered right away, he let me drive an X5. Got my Z4 back with a wash....just like the dealership- without all the crappy service I used to get at BMW Concord. I asked if he does cars other than imports...what do you know he does and he will be servicing electric vehicles as well. One-stop shop!!

My sienna xle was making loud noise. I took it to Toyota dealer. They dont know what is the problems than I took it to Benicia Motor Works and asked Paulo to check it out. He goes extra miles and beyond for me. He fixed the noise and find out that I need to replace rack and pinion not knowing that my power steering wheel fluid are leaking fast. I know something is wrong with my car. Im so glad that I took it to Paulo. Now, my sienna run so so smooth like a brand new car again. Benicia Motor works is a quality auto shop I highly recommend taking your car here!

I have been taking all my cars (BMWs, Hondas, Toyotas) to Paulo at Benicia Motor works as long as he has been in business and have nothing but great service, fair prices, and best of all - when my car is repaired, it stays repaired. The minute my cars are off the dealer warranties I start taking them to Paulo. He has up to date equipment and again, great service. HEY FRIENDS! Paulo will take car of you. Enough said.The son of a mechanic, he grew up wrenching on cars, the guy has motor oil in his veins. He has kept my BMW 325xi wagon going strong and as I am looking to buy a new vehicle soon, I look forward to many more years of collaboration. Paulo gets it done right, doesnt cut any corners and gets the car back on time. I like nothing better than a straight shooter and almost hate to share the good word about this shop for fear i wont be able to get my car in there as the reputation continues to grow. Real Deal.

Picked up a used BMW 740il and brought it in for a water leak diagnosis. I couldnt find the exact location but suspected the valley pan. Sure enough it was indeed the valley pan which is an easy but pain to get to job. Paulo was also able to diagnose a few more things for me and then some. He went above and beyond to point out things that needed to be done ASAP as well as things that could wait. There was no pressure for the repairs to happen and they could have had my vehicle done in about 2 days but I decided to get rid of this car and not deal with all its issues.I have had plenty of German cars and its good to know I have a go to place in town!

This is my 1st time to bring my ML320 to Benicia Motor Works, and it’s also my pleasure to write the review for Paolo and this shop. My ML320 was down on the road (drove my daughter from Bay area to UC Davis for her Orientation) nearby the Fairfield city. I am not familiar with this area at all but how I decided to tow my car to Benicia Motor Work ? it’s simply because those positive feedbacks with full score ranking posted in here which inspired me to believe it’s the right place to go. I am glad I made the right decision. Paulo just like a Doctor, Car Doctor. He is so dedicated and responsible, and even spent his extra hours without cost adding to trouble shoot and root cause multiple issues for my 15 years old car with explanations in detail. After repairing the shift lever control module diagnostic wire terminal, and replacing the fuel pump and fuel filter, my car backs to normal. I am now comfortable to drive this old car for a long trip again. Thanks Paulo, I respect your knowledge and impress your passion on the car, and want to recommend this shop to others.

Honestly terrible phone service. I called because I had an emergency and had to pull off the freeway. I searched google an based on reviews and distance, I decided to call. Whoever answered the phone was not the least bit helpful. The guy sounded annoyed, made lame excuses and basically said I cant help you so find another shop.

Ive been using Benicia Motor works for a little over a year now. Paulo and his team are great. Good prices, super quality work, and will always go the extra mile for you. Just last night I had to drop my BMW late last night after getting towed to his place. He made sure we had access to his lot and could secure my car. He even did an oil change for me on the weekend once when he was closed so I didnt have to use Jiffy Lube (which had previously totally broke my oil filter cover causing an oil leak and the part being replaced byPaulo). I also take my daughters VW Passat there too!
