We own a 1930s mission style home in the Berkeley hills. Our challenge was decorating the breakfast nook off of the kitchen because it was small and functioned mostly as a pass through between kitchen and dining. We engaged Berkeley Mills to help us create and design a seating solution. Our decorator had suggested a “booth” or “banquette” due to space limitations, but I was concerned that a hard bench would not provide comfortable seating and cushions with pillows would slide around and end up on the floor... Or someone would be sitting in “the crack”. The design team at Berkeley Mills created a built-in piece of custom furniture that more than exceeded our expectations. A custom walnut banquette with matching trestle table now beautifully fills our nook. The ergonomically correct design of the back and seat create a comfort I did not believe possible with a banquette - and the quality of the wood selected is unsurpassed. Simply gorgeous. The upholstery options were plentiful and we selected the perfect look for our space. We could not be more pleased. While the price of custom furniture is usually much higher than off the floor pieces, take a guided tour through Berkeley Mills workshop and be amazed. There is a reason Berkeley Mills reputation for excellence exists. We can honestly say that no one else could have met our furniture and design objectives better than Berkeley Mills.

I rarely write a review but feel I must share our wonderful experience working with Berkeley Mills for our kitchen remodel. I had admired their cabinetry and furniture in the showroom for years and couldn’t be happier that we chose to go with them. From the design process, through review and revisions to the build and installation they were great to work with. As with most remodels problems arose. They problem solved and made changes when needed. The end product is beautiful and so delightful to work in with everything well designed and functional. In addition to the kitchen Berkeley Mills built custom shelving and a media cabinet in the adjoining family room and a bathroom vanity to match - it’s perfect.

Years ago Berkeley Mills made our dining table and chairs and we returned recently for a Greene and Greene console table. Tiago worked with us on the specific woods and dimensions to fit the entryway. A beautiful piece and great craftsmanship, just as the table and chairs before.

I can’t say enough about the design and craftsmanship of Berkeley Mills. I worked directly with Tiago and the designers to create four beautiful pieces for my home. They custom designed a headboard with built in light and storage that is gorgeous and useful. I also had a media cabinet and buffet. Each piece is perfectly balanced with beautifully matched wood and details. The craftsmanship was beyond my expectation. I feel lucky to have found them.

Berkeley Millwork and Furniture Co. is the world premiere cabinet and furniture maker. They also make custom Shoji screens. If you can afford them you should buy from them.

Years ago we visited Berkeley Mills were delighted by their work, but then we already had furniture. Last year we visited them again, and this time, knowing more of what quality woodworking requires, we were even more impressed. We bought harp stools for our new home, and every day we marvel at them. Berkeleys design of the pieces, their selection of woods, their artistry in oriented the grain to complement the position of each piece, the perfect joinery and the rock solid feel of the stools in use all demonstrate that these are not ordinary craftsmen. The finish makes you want to touch the wood. Whats more, we found doing business with Berkeley Mills completely straightforward and the people there, including the owner, Mr. Agress, and the sales representative, Mr. Pinto, both informative and delightful. Everything went as they said it would, and we received our shipped order in perfect condition despite 2020. It has been a joy to have their work in our home.

After hours of unsuccessful searching at lumber yards, I approached Berkeley Mills for a piece of wood of specific thickness for a cabinet repair. Fritz looked in the shop area and retrieved a scrap with the desired dimension.Indeed, several years ago I also needed hardwood for an exterior repair, and they came through then. These guys are terrific, and kudos to Fritz for his effort.
