I have been working with Ecohome Improvement since they opened nearly fifteen years ago, and have only the best things to say about their business. As an interior designer with a practice dedicated to environmentally friendly and healthy home materials, they are my go-to for wood and cork flooring, linoleum, wool carpet, quartz countertops, and non-toxic paint, stains and sealers. The owners have worked tirelessly to offer healthy products at prices that are cost competitive with their conventional counterpoints, which are better for the planet, installer and inhabitant.A couple of years ago, they launched Mod Cabinetry, an amazing modular cabinet system that is easy to design with and offers beautiful finishes and features. My project pictures below feature kitchen remodels completed entirely using materials from Ecohome. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and they offer extraordinary customer service. I bring all of my clientele their way, as well as my students (I teach design at UC-Berkeley Extension). I look forward to partnering with them for years to come. They are a model of sustainable business!

Coming here was so amazing. They have great options of floor, we were able to fine the best. All the workers were able to provide all the information and answered all my questions. Thank you very much! A must place to visit!

Over-priced and not extremely helpful in the design process. I paid a $1000 deposit to have my kitchen remodel process started and they came out to measure, but forgot to bring any samples. Their measurements were exactly the same dimensions that I had brought in on day 1 to their store, so I basically paid them to do work that I already had done. When I asked the owner for the deposit back, she said it was too late, and they basically just pocketed the money and would not refund me. I was six months pregnant at the time and had 1 year old, so this was all very stressful for me and they basically just said sorry and closed the door. I also previously wrote a comment on Yelp, and they had it removed somehow, so I am sure there are more bad reviews out there. I would never recommend this place to a friend or family member.In Response to what the owner posted below: Nothing I said in my above post is slanderous. I cannot see how hey spent 10 hours designing anything for me, as I came in with the same dimensions with the exact same design on the day I put down the deposit. My expectation was that the store would bring out samples to my house and we could start the design process, since I was having trouble figuring out what finishes/materials would look best for the space, but that never happened. They forgot to bring the samples. I am still disappointed when I think about my own experience with this store.

Incompetent staff does not know about their product and quickly point you to the $170 per liter stain. Attempt to return a natural color that was actually white wasnt taken seriously and made out to be a customer error. As a business if you care about return customers you should at least show a minimum of empathy.

They were professional company to work with. They have reasonably priced stuffs that allow you to work with a wide range of budgeting. Has a great communication throughout the project and completed the work on time, as promised, and also explaining the price as well as the work was being completed meticulously. I just want to express my appreciation, gratitude and satisfaction to this company for the 100% satisfaction they have rendered when completing the countertops and cabinet project in our kitchen. I understand that the process is sometimes difficult, inconvenient and time consuming, but the completely turn everything into a wonderful and worth recommending experience. The outcome was absolutely fantastic, even more beautiful than what I had expected to be.

Be careful! Their response to reviews shows they will dox you, if you disagree with them.The shop was founded by an MBA with expertise in marketing. If you are serious about ecological remodeling, consider doing lots & lots of research before giving them money.They are expensive and I have personally received more accurate information about the environmental impact of products from staff at Truitt & White, The Wooden Duck and even Home Depot than from staff at Ecohome.

Good quality work, good quality product at a great cost, very satisfied. You won’t go wrong with them.

From now on, this will be my go-to place whenever I need anything for home improvement, because their prices is perfect even for the tight budget. Very competitive, but all the same good durability and the customer service are always above the average.

Great customer service! Solid plywood cabinets cost competitive with Home Depot, but far more eco. Great hardwood floors and zero-VOC paints!
