Excellent coffee, courteous waiters. The avocado toast are both large and delicious. The French country salad is good too but comes deconstructed and in a flat plate - a significant challenge to mix - would be great to have the option to have it mixed!
This place is amazing! I love it, it’s small, cute, and they have a icon to let you know what’s vegan! ☺️I’ve never been here before but I would definitely go again if I was in the area! Their Honey Lemon Ginger Tea is a must have on a cold winter day!I had their “Soup of the day” and it was delicious.
Popular breakfast, lunch and dinner spot. Quiet relaxing the rest of the time. Love the communal tables for larger gatherings.
First-rate vibes and super welcoming service. The food was crisp and delightful. Will easily recommend this spot to others. Affordable prices and generous meals. Keep it up.
We had brunch here and the food was AMAZING! The food portion sizes were just right & The staff were extremely pleasant & patient with us! Perfect place for brunch or a quick meal. Thank you!
The server was very attentive to our table and the food was yummy, but I still cant give 4 stars to this place. The lack of handle on the mug was a bit odd and it made it more difficult to enjoy the drink; my friend ended up spilling some coffee because of it. My biggest disappointment was seeing so many flies by the baked goods and the employee didnt even try to remove them as he was picking out the food.
Friendly staff nice food and fast service
The classical music and the lemonade were nice. The rest of the meal was not up to my expectations.
Busy place but they handle it well.
I always think of this place whenever I want to treat myself to some fancy coffee and good, simple, delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere. But I also always immediately ask myself if I also have the time and patience to deal with the terrible service. Let me say that as I was leaving I stopped to get a pastry and coffee to go, and the manager asked about my visit and I gave her an honest reply. She was deeply apologetic and made a gift of my pastry and coffee, and that goes a long way. It’s worth noting that giving people an opportunity to make things right can sometimes make a big difference. That said, each time I’ve been to either Bethesda location, the service is just abysmal, and the visit always takes much longer than planned. Coffee arriving after food is typical, as if never being checked on or able to find a server. Today, for example, when my food came (before my coffee) I had no silverware, and the person dropped it off and scampered away before I could ask. When he brought some silverware, and told me he was checking on the coffee I had to ask about, he ran off before I could ask for butter for my bread. I wasn’t checked on the entire time I was eating, and had to finally flag someone down to ask for my check. It’s a nice atmosphere to sit if you have nowhere to be and no time constraints, the food is nice and fresh, but don’t plan on being pampered or paid much attention to.
Love the organic and veggie options. Fresh baked bread. Expensive for what feels like an informal place. Be ready to spend $20-25 for a quick lunch with a drink.
It’s unfortunate because this place has so much potential. Great location, great ingredients, and some of the servers, some, are very kind and helpful. I like it here and come a lot because they have delicious gluten free bread. Worst cappuccino I ever had, I wouldn’t even drink it for free. It sounded like they were burning every latte too. Consistency is terrible. I order the same thing every time I come, and it’s like every time it’s a completely different arrangement and the ingredients change. Despite their delicious gluten free bread and vegetarian options, which are great for people like me with celiacs, I don’t think I will be coming back to this location anymore. The Georgetown one is good! I recommend heading down there if you’re in the mood for some Le Pain.
I ordered Breakfast sandwich and Dragon fruit smoothie bowl via Grubhub. Order was delayed and Grubhub called me to inform about it. When driver arrived, he told me that restaurant manager sent apology for delay. Order was accurate and intact without any spills. It smells too good. Its even more delicious. Perfect start for weekend. No complaints. I have one request to make, can you please start delivering early? You guys have plenty of healthy and delicious options. I could order almost everyday. Thank you
A really cool and calm cafe! The space was great and they have a great selection of desserts and foods. An awesome place to hangout with friends and enjoy great treats.
Way overpriced for the amount and quality of food. Two eggs on a skillet with some bread was $12. The server seemed over extended and the food took almost an hour to get to us. The coffee and the bacon were cold upon arrival. Disappointing overall. Then after overpaying for tiny amount of food the waitress asked us why we dont tip more. Still hungry after spending just under $30 for my food alone.
I had a lovely experience at the location in Bethesda this afternoon. My server Nikki was attentive, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I will definitely be coming back for lunch more often!
I had the unfortunate experience of dinning at this particular Le Pain Quotidien on Sunday morning and it was horrible. I wish I had gone to the Potomac or even Tyson’s Corner locations where service is consistently incredible!Problems:Seating- Their weird protocol. Le Pain is a self-seating cafe and they had blocked off half of the restaurant by piling up a blockade of high chairs; that was an accident waiting to happen! The other half was very crowded and everyone was complaining because no one wanted to sit in the middle table (although the waitress kept trying to force us, which is very rude considering this is self-seating).Service- The waitress was the root to all my problems. She never gave her name but she wore a gray scarf on her head and Spoke Amharic to another guest. Now lets get into the giant problems! First off she (the waitress) kept disappearing for long stints of time. She did not bring my child a kids menu, so we ordered his food by memory. Our food arrived. She gave my wife and I the wrong coffee orders!! Which my wife said “we’ll she’s gone again so let’s just accept this.” Wow. My kids orders did not arrive, in fact we had to ask for their whereabouts. (Getting to that) As we were searching for the waitress I realized she was sitting AT A TABLE WITH GUESTS laughing, talking and rubbing their kids hair!!!! Not sanitary, not professional!!I do not even need to complete the rest of the issues that include forgetting our take home order. Having to flag down another waitress and the disbelief that she was behaving so unprofessional and was arrogant about doing so. I was not the only person confused!! When she was at the table with other guests everyone was whispering about it and could not believe how inappropriate she was being.Needless to say if you love Le Pain like my family: DO NOT visit this location. She is the worst waitress and I cannot believe that service. She deserves zero stars!
I wish I could give this place - 10000 stars... I found a very large MOTH on my plate by the time i finished my plate. I really truly hoped I found the moth earlier before I finished the sandwich but it was sitting next to my salad. I was filled with absolute disgust and terror. SEE THE PIC. I will report this incident to the health department so that the restaurant can pay better attention and care to food that they deliver to their customers.....
This was some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. I usually do not buy coffee, because I am particularly particular about my coffee so I always brew it myself. Something about the atmosphere of this place drew me in though, and I am so glad I tried it. The cold brew was so smooth, light, and delicious. I will certainly be returning to try their other drinks.
Is a small jewel. Thank you for wonderful food and service. Authentic.
I need to remember to come here more often. Its a nice place for a late breakfast on a weekend. The skillet eggs were good and just the right amount of food. The thing that made me happy was the discovery of speculous. Thats not something I see here often (we discovered it in Belgium). That alone will bring me back. Coffee was good. Wait staff was friendly. Well be back!
Best avocado toast anywhere! I dont know what they do to it but Im addicted. Great frittatas and grain bowls also
Most interesting menu and great food at reasonable prices. I was so impressed that I bought their cookbook to take home. There were copies on some tab and es, so I had chance to preview it while having brunch. Recommended to others in our large group, and everyone who went there enjoyed it very much.
Location is NOT OPEN as of 1 July 2020, despite website saying it is. It clearly hasn’t been open for some time. I’m not giving it one star for food - we love their food and just drove 45 minutes from Laurel for a socially distanced visit for my teens. The one star is for inaccuracy of stated open/pick-up availability.
I love this place. It is s French restaurant. I ate a breakfast there. Scramble eggs with baguette was delicious. Higly recommend.
Always stop by here on my way to work. Morning crew is sharp, the coffee is good, and I’m in and out quickly. The female manager always remembers how I like my drink.
Food was very good, service was atrocious. Waitress had no idea what we were asking her and was borderline hostile when we asked subsequent questions to clarify. Another waitress spilled a different patrons order on one of our group, didnt apologize, and didnt offer to help clean the garment. Overall, would NOT suggest this place to anyone. The service doesnt care about their patrons happiness to any extent.
Menu good, tea fine, spent some time studying here and waiters were fast to bring food but slow to take orders due to other restaurant duties. Sandwich didn’t have the sauce it was supposed to have on it but because waiters were hard to find I just left it. Not a bad experience, just not a great one.
Breakfast was just perfect. The vibe is Paris Caffè. Plenty of healthy selection and treats.
I like the food and concept, but unfortunately the service is always too slow in the location. If u have time go for it. The food is good, but if you are on the clock better skip
Coffee and desserts were excellent, serving was nice. I orded regular coffee and liked having coffee in a pot. Keeps it hot longer. Love the design and rustic large table. Nice decorations. Quiet. It was not too busy at the time of visit but for some reason a half of tables were not cleaned. It did not bother us too much. Still it was notesable.
Had an excellent experience. Tasty wholesome food, great service my server Gabe was really polite. Recommend this place
One of a national chain of high-end sandwich shops. Pleasant ambiance and table service with a relaxed attitude. Good choice of relatively expensive sandwiches and basic beverages. Parking at a nearby municipal garage that requires payment by cellphone app rather than cash or credit card. This store located on a pedestrian walk in downtown Bethesda MD.
Ive been here a few times and will return again and again. Beautiful fireplace where you can sit next to on a cold day while enjoying your meal. Theres also a patio too! The staff are wonderful and the food delicious!
Service is slow, gave me old menu, found out when I went to order. Waited at table after being seated... 5 mins no one in sight. We ordered to go. Was fast with food, but staff confused with equipment to process payments. Food was great!!!! But there are other places that also have great food. 2nd time they failed to provide good service (2 different locations - other was DC. Will not be back...
European style cafe with delicious food. Its nicely decorated and the overall atmosphere is pleasant. The menu has a good variaty of dishes. Service was good and prices are decent. we had the smoked salmon breakfast, Tuna tartine and belgium waffles-- all good size and delicious.
Honestly, I used to love this place, but the quality of service has sharply declined in the last few months.I stopped in for a coffee and a small snack with my dog the other day. It took about 10 minutes for someone to even come to ask if Id had to order taken, if I could get a menu.Once I got the menu, I flagged down a waiter and I asked for a bowl of water for my dog and a glass of water for myself. The waiter responded that there was a communal bowl for the dogs.I had an issue with this for a few reasons; 1 - as a paying customer at a dog friendly establishment, that was a bit rude; 2 - so this waiter was saying, if my dog wanted water, I have to leave my table to take him to the bowl - which was also empty and looked like it hadnt been filled up recently, and finally 3- as a long time customer- regardless of that - the attitude I was given was not appreciated. After I ordered, my cappuccino came out with a fly in the foam, to which I sent it back. The waiter returned with no apology for attempt to make it up to me, (although just an acknowledgment of the bug would be enough). The croissant I had ordered seemed like it was days old and definitely not made fresh (or that day).Once I asked for the check, my waiter with zero personality gave it to me and could hardly be bothered. This experience left me very disappointed in what was once a very nice place - both culinary and ambiance -wise, to spend a morning/afternoon/evening, but I doubt Ill be coming back any time soon.
Well decorated place, great food, but the servers are meh. They forget orders, and are overall very unhelpful.
Good food. Dont sit outside if you want service. It takes about 5 minutes for servers to come to you (even when you check in first) and once your order is taken youll only see a server when they bring out your food. You have to snag them when you see them to get your check or refills otherwise you wont see them again.
This is one of the worst restaurants in Bethesda. The service could not be any worse and the orders are almost always slow or wrong. It is remarkable how short staffed they always are.
Been a couple of times, and my experience varied wildly. Sometimes the service was fast and reliable, other times they got orders wrong, delivered hot food cold, and once even had to get a different server to take care of our order and check after a 30 minute wait, each. The food itself is good when its served promptly, but its pricey for what you get.
Not only tastes good, but good for you too!
What you would expect from a place like this... the quality doesnt match the prices, but its good enough. the location is fantastic.
I wouldnt eat here again. After waiting at the counter to order drinks and food we were asked to get a table and wait for the server to come by. Since the place looked understaffed, the service was extremely slow. I wish I could service myself! It would have been so much more efficient and faster.Table and floors were filled with breadcrumbs when we sat down. The server didnt clean the table before he brought our drinks and food. When it was time to leave, it was hard to get the attention of the waiter to get the check or pick up our payment.
The people are good actually very good the food is fantastic the selection is innovative and very good its a wonderful place
Really enjoyed the communal seating. We really enjoyed ourselves in the very casual closeness. Though the service was very lacking.
Delicious coffee, bread -and cozy seating. Big long tables if you choose. Try fresh greens salads. Bethesda prices, but worth the pleasant fresh baked bread smell.
I went here once with my dog. When I was there, (I went for breakfast), I ordered some coffee, and they dropped the coffee and it ruined my white shoes. The food did not justify the incident I went through. It was decent, but not memorable or exceptional.
This is my favorite place for when I crave a meal that is savory and clean. The service is exceptionally and the cooks are great. Ill often pop in for a quick treat at the bakery.
Good service! Can sit here forever...feels like having breakfast at home.
Its a Panera with a fancy name, a couple organics on the menu, and a good looking pastry cabinet... But falls flat on quality.
Right down the street for us, this bakery is an office favorite. Delicious homemade loaves of bread and tasty pastries.Great place to grab a cup of coffee but make sure to try the Belgian hot chocolate.
I had a bowl of carrot soup with the smoked salmon tartare. The salmon was smoked perfectly and tasted great, very fresh. The organic bread was very good too. No complaints, and the prices were very reasonable.
Very consistent food quality and friendly service compared to other locations on the east coast. LPQ preferences organic ingredients so food prices are expected to be inflated which is something other reviewers must not realize.
This place is absolutely perfect! The café and food in general is very tasty. Plus, our server, Catherine, is super kind and welcoming. I will most certainly return to Le Pain Quotidien to dine!
Worst croissant I’ve ever had, it really tasted like butt. I got the chocolate one, it was terrible. I also asked him to heat it up, and it was still cold.
The food was good but the service can improve a lot.
Really good pastries. I had an apple turnover. It was very good.
Im here now and I said let me write this while it is fresh on my mind. I came here to all the outside tables were left dirty full of dishes except one. I went inside to ask for service. I went outside and waited 8 min for someone to come wait on me. Then i went back inside and asked for assitance. I went inside again to ask for assistance. They said someone will be out. Then as I wait outside for another 6 minutes a manager comes to clean the table next to me and I asked if someone could help me. He said sure I will get someone. Then 3 minutes later someone comes out. He takes my order then it takes almost thirty min for just my waffle eggs and bacon. The bacon quality was not great the eggs were bland. The waffle was the only thing that was good. Ohh and i ordered green tea and that took 7 minutes to come. ANNNND they gave me a dirty fork. I talked to the manager and he just gave me a blank look when I complained. However he did comp my meal at the end and apologized. I did appreciate that.
My fiancee (with Celiacs) is suffering from gluten due to the poor attention to detail from the staff at this location. We have been to various LPQ locations in the area and abroad (ordering the same exact thing) and been fine. Today when ordering and making her Celiacs known to the very distracted server, it was brushed off with an empty assurance without even bothering to write down the order.Upon the foods arrival, she again asked the distracted server if the food was prepared with gluten free bread and was blankly told yes. About 3 hours later, this was proven to be false.LPQ is generally reliable for great food, but this experience creates a lot of doubt that we can go back with any confidence. This would be a no star experience if possible. Its inexcusable that the staff at this location is so inept and uncaring for basic food quality/customer service.
Yes it is an international chain but has good food, light fare, great breakfast /brunch spot. The bread sold there lacks variety but what they do sell is of good quality.
We were there on Thursday with my friend. We wanted to have a nice day at “Le Pain” but it was total disappointment. First of all the server was so unkind, she does not know what she is doing and probably she hates her job. No smile nothing but rude language. We sat outside and ordered our food. She was all the time very unprofessional with a depressed and hatred face. We wanted to inform the manager about how we felt very uncomfortable and the manager was not really interested in. We have no issue with “Le Pain” but please control your employees and management here. Otherwise people will stop coming here.
Friendly staff and good food.
The customer service is no nice, as well as the food..
Cosy place to eat breakfast or lunch of just to drink some coffee.
Nice healthy menu at reasonable prices.
Great location, good food, fair price, fair service.
Very good customer service experience. Tasty cold brew and chia muffin deserves applause.
Terrible. Greasy bland omlette. The plate is larger than the table. Crappy service. Waited 5 minutes for cream for the bad cold coffee. Wishing i was a Dunkin across the street.
Decent food, not worth the price. $12+ and 15 minutes for a small slice of quiche and 3 leaf salad with some other random unknown vegetables. My wifes car was almost ticketed waiting for it. Overall, not worth it unless ur a pretentious hobby horse
The service was good and friendly no issues at all there -I live nearby and regularly met clients there for breakfast or lunch and like its location -I never had an issue until today when I ordered the oatmeal -its usually served with bananas & walnuts -She told me they were out of bananas and if I liked some fruit ? I said sure . When my check came I was charged 7.25 for the bowl of oatmeal and an extra 2.05 for a few berries mixed in-When I explained that I understood the berries would have been in place for the Bananas she said her Manager has a strict policy in any substitutions and does not waiver. I told her I did not expect her to give me a full order of fruit but surely a few berries in lieu of the missing bananas would not be unreasonable - After all it was not my fault that they did not get a delivery of bananas that day, or could not have sent some employee next door to balduccis to pick up a banana!Again she said sorry thats just the way it is . She is very strict about it!Ok - if thats just the way it is and this Manager cannot see the forest from the trees here and implements such a stupid ridiculous policy - then she has lost all my future business as well as all my colleagues in the nearby office - not on anything other than sheer principle here -From a business standpoint and nothing else - this is plain stupid, managerial decision making.I hope their head office reads this because this is exactly why there needs to be oversight on ridiculous self implemented policies by managers that clearly dont have a good business sense -I just cannot believe that the companies CEO feels the same way as this manager whom I was told by the server as the top person ! I doubt somehow, as this chain is well established -Really ! If this is all so, what the server told me - then its crazy - no manager was on hand to comment to -Again - strictly principle is the issue here as obviously I could get a bowl of oatmeal anywhere for less . !
Decent food but overpriced. Good coffee.
Loved the one at wildwood shopping center. But this one at the bethesda downtown just disappointed me eveytime i go. Last night I had eaten food about 8pm. As soon as I hit home I started having bad stomach ache and soon starting vomiting and bad stomach ache and diarrhea continued through the night till I vomited out everything I ate at this place. I just called the restaurant talking to the manager basically just wanted to alert her. Instead of asking how I am doing and expressed any word of sorry or sympathy, she started to say nonstop their food is freshly prepared everyday, blah blah as the ad. In between she said it must not be their food that had caused the vomiting and diarrhea and stomach. I was just stunned and told her I just wanted to let her know. I didnt eat anything after leaving the place last night!Never go to this place again.
My coworkers and I went to Le pain quotidien for lunch today and it was the WORST EXPERIENCE ever. Our server Worku B was the most unprofessional and inattentive person I ever came across. My coworker at first asked him about a dish with an egg on top and she couldn’t remember the name of it, he sarcastically said the thing with an egg...and then he dumped the silverware on our table like he was bothered that he’s doing this . We seat for 15 min after we were done he didn’t come by to check if we were ready for our check . We walked up to him and I said can you ring us separately? his answer was “ you should’ve told me that earlier “. What? really? Wow ! He didn’t come to ask if we were ready to pay . I said well you can cancel it and ring separately . Instead of at least apologizing for the inconvenience he said well can you put it on one card . This is a big 0 from me for the rudest waiter. I asked him to bring his manager and asked for his name he didn’t want to say his name, he said sure you can talk to my manager I don’t care . I said you’re rude you should accommodate your customers. He said well every customer that comes here is a regular and they know how it works . Even when his manager came and asked him to stay quite he kept on taking back to me and called me rude. I said to the manger I will write a review and reach out to the corporate to file a complaint . Worku B jumps into the converstion called me rude and said go ahead reach out to the corporate you will never get to come here and said to his manager don’t giver my name it’s private Well Mr. dummy your name is on the receipt 😂😂.Wow!! I don’t need to go back to that place but I’ll make sure I’ll do what it takes so other customers know this not where they want to go spend their money as they have extremely rude staff who are out of control and even dirsprectul to their own mangers FYI this not my first bad experience here . The served Worku B shouldn’t be working at your restaurant because he gives a horrible image to this company . Restaurants are not just about food the service is also very important!
This place is terrible. I ordered an Americano and it came in a bowl. A bowl. Of hot coffee. These people apparently have no idea what food is or how to serve it. Coffee is served in a cup with a handle because it is a HOT LIQUID. You cannot hold a bowl of hot liquid and drink it without burning your hand. Ridiculous.
Chain restaurant with a great location and shaded steetside cafe.
Can’t get enough of their pastries! My favorite is the chocolate croissant, it’s a must have.
Tasty food but shop selection a bit limited.
Good selection of healthy foods.
Food good staff pleasant and helpful
I like the organic food and love their pastries.
Food is usually good, service decent... last time I was here I order the smoked salmon breakfast and my salmon was felt sticky to the touch, had a mild fishy smell and tasted bitter - BUT the chef said that thats how its supposed to taste ummm... really??? I eat and cook a LOT of fish - from gutting, skinning, filet-ing, and cooking it in all ways... I know my fish and that was spoiled fish... dangerous to serve someone. I switched to avocado toast and it was delicious.Next time just apologize and check your produce. No one wants to get sick...
Enjoy coffee and pastry or salad and wine while people watching
Over rated. Its a decent place for a breakfast
Lousy service. 1/2 hour wait to get a toasted sandwich
Always a solid cafe for a quick business lunch! Great espresso options and amazing pastries.
Service took for ever and the place was not really busy, the customer service was so bad, waitress never smile or say hello welcome or have any welcome behavior.
Communal concept restaurant with high-quality, healthy food. Pay attention to the calorie count when you order, otherwise you might leave hungry.
Food overpriced, and the wait was too long
1- Over priced.2- Service is bad and slow, they took 20mins to get me a coffee.3- If you ordered coffee they will serve it in bowl !4- Two Stars for location.
Delicious food!!! Amazing waffles!!
Heaven food with aswm service
One of the best places for coffee and breakfast in downtown Bethesda....
Very good place to eat
