Super awesome bike shop for Birmingham residents! I needed a new front wheel built to incorporate a hub dynamo, and they took care of everything. I brought in the new rim and hub, and they were able to cut spikes to length and perfectly true it. Also had a few small parts in stock, just what I needed to finish a huge refresh on my bike. Couldn’t recommend them enough! So happy to be back on my commuter bike and happy to have a smooth riding and perfectly assembled front wheel.

I am fairly new to the sport and these guys were welcoming, knowledgeable, and patient. The store was very clean and organized with a great selection. I drove 3.5 hrs to get bikes from them, and I will def make the drive again to go back.

I recently learned that they have an associate (John) that does bike fittings as a service, and that service extends to Pelotons as well, and given the positive feedback I had heard on the bike side I scheduled my Peloton fitting. John was very knowledgeable, professional, and extremely thorough. After getting the correct fitting the bike feels much better, and I am very happy with the results!

Was out riding Saturday, 7/7/21 and stopped in for a derailleur adjustment, and they were happy to accommodate me while I waited. Always good staff, selection, and service.

I paid almost $200 to diagnose and fix a persistent rubbing noise (not brakes) and they didnt bother to align the brakes correctly or even replace the badly stripped bolts so Id be able to do it myself. May be ok as a dealer but will not visit their shop again.

Got a bike fitting by FlexFit (John K) and some of the huge changes that have come about as a result of the fitting:- MORE OXYGEN - since we moved the seat forward, it opened up my rib cage and I have had a significant improvement in breathing (probably the most notable difference). Climbs are so much better and it is remarkable how much more energy I keep throughout the ride. A priceless improvement in my opinion.- Cleaner pedal stroke gives me more time in the saddle - I used to be out of the saddle a ton cuz thats how I got my leverage, but since I can get more leverage in the saddle, this lets me save my back and muscles. Has been huge on the longer rides.- Improved balance - so we talked about how I was hanging on for dear life on downhills since my seat was so far back. Now I am balanced over the pedals so on the downhills I get to guide the bike more by shifting my weight and using my hips instead of turning handles and braking.

John recently came to my home to do a Peloton fitting for my husband and I. I cannot recommend him enough!!We purchased a Peloton several months ago. I am totally new to indoor cycling, but I followed the Peloton 101 guide for bike setup… I followed the instructions to a tee so I was confident that I had the PERFECT setup! Unfortunately after a couple of months of riding regularly, I was experiencing pain and swelling to the point of discomfort. I tried making adjustments, doing research, adjusting my cleats, and talking the the folks at my local bike shop… nothing helped! I was starting to feel defeated, like maybe cycling just wasn’t for me. I am SO glad I invested in a professional fitting!!John is professional, kind, patient and incredibly knowledgeable. After talking and taking all my measurements, he was able to adjust my bike, pedals and cleats. I was surprised by how much I had misjudged my own measurements! The changes we made were really substantial. He also replaced our saddle. I can’t tell you how nice it was to have him walk me through the finer points of my gear and how to use it properly!After having my bike adjusted, I am no longer experiencing pain or discomfort during or after riding! I feel more confident and I’m so happy that I can continue working out and enjoy my bike!! Completely worth the investment!

I am 62, been road biking for just over one year and, by recommendation from my local bike shop, have been to John Karrasch for custom fittings on 2 different bikes (Flex Fit at the Homewood store). The results were significant:1. After about 4000 miles on my first bike, I had been sidelined twice due to severe spasms in my quads, as well as other lower body joint issues. John spent at least 2.5 hours measuring and making precise adjustments. Afterwards, I rode at least 100 miles each week and never had any more issues and was much stronger and comfortable in the saddle.2. I upgraded my bike recently, made adjustments on my own and increased riding to about 125 miles per week. However, after a few weeks, realized it was time for another visit to John for a refined fitting on my new bike as a few problems began to emerge with my feet and lower body. Once again, the specific adjustments made resolved all issues and my rides have been better and stronger than ever as I am now approaching 2000 miles on my Domane SL4! I realized, as well, my riding mechanics had changed overall and noticed he not only fit me to the new bike, but also adjusted the specifications to meet the different riding style.Quite literally, the custom fittings by John were the best investments I made in terms of riding. His professionalism, knowledge and methodology allows him to dial in the exact fit for the best riding experiences. I highly recommend his services and will definitely return to Flex Fit for any needed changes to my bike(s). We were clueless when we visited the store for the first time. We knew what we wanted to do, but had no idea even what kind of bikes we needed. While the products that Cahaba Cycles Homewood offers are excellent, for us the level of customer service we received was even better. Deason Benson is the sales associate that greeted us. He listened to us and was so patient with all of our questions. Not only did he help us find the right bikes and get them ordered, but he then spent over two hours helping us get them set up once they had been delivered.

Cahaba Cycles Homewood is a very nice bike shop. They have a good selection of bikes and accessories. Lee and Tammi have been very helpful and made me feel welcomed. After my grandsons prompting to get a bike so we can trail ride together Ive gotten my first mountain bike. First bike of anykind in decades, and purchased him a new bike too. Now working on getting my wife one.

Josh was AMAZING! I rode my new bike for the first time and heard some unfortunate sounds coming from the gears. I took it over to Cahaba Cycles in Homewood and got the best customer service experience. I was immediately asked if I needed help and my bike was quickly propped up and Josh started diagnosing. While waiting, Josh constantly updated me on the progress of the bike and even showed me the different areas and taught me a little about the inner workings of the pedals and gears. The whole crew at the store kept checking in on me throughout the time I was waiting as well. So kind! I ended up leaving my bike over night, and returning for it the next day. Josh again greeted me and showed me how they fixed it. He even had installed a water bottle holder and kick stand that I had bought the day before. The whole crew was very helpful and kind. I would give this place 6 stars if possible. :)

The professionals at Cahaba Cycles helped us figure out the best bikes for our needs and then let us test ride each model. -- We came into the store with a newly purchased car bike carrier (purchased online...and still in the box). The Cahaba Cycle employees told us to bring the carrier inside. They helped us put it together and get it attached to our car so we didnt have to do it solo. That is going above and beyond! Took my recently purchased bike in for a routing service and was told it would take 2-3 days to finish, which was understandable with high demand during these times. Instead, I waited over a month for my bike to be completed along with relatively high prices without any apologies, discounts, etc. The customer service was poor and I had to call several times to see what was going on. Was supposed to get a call when completed but never did as it just sat there after FINALLY getting done. If the company I work for operated like that, we would be in trouble. Busy times DO NOT excuse wildly inaccurate lead times and poor customer service. First time customer and will not be going back- I recommend looking at other options as well.

I had placed an online order and when I arrived it was obvious they were busy -they had been closed for two days for Memorial Day- they had not gotten around to filling the online orders yet. The guy who helped me was prompt and got me my order anyways. Excellent customer service.

After visiting both Homewood bike shops we chose to purchase at Cahaba (even though we found a cheaper bike at the competitor) because of the friendliness of the staff. Every time we visit the competitors store we feel as if we are a nuisance because we arent serious cyclists. Our questions receive short/ annoyed answers and we often leave feeling as if we were a bother to the staff because we dont know that much about bikes. The Cahaba staff understands that bikes are enjoyed by everyone - not just serious or competitive cyclists - and always thoroughly answer our questions in a thoughtful way with great detail. Sadly, Ive noticed this is also a theme of their google reviews versus their competitor. Well keep coming back to Cahaba through the years.

Went here a couple of times for bike service. They staff here are great! They helped me quickly and answered all my questions. I even bought a new set of pedals and they installed them right then for no extra charge. No matter which store I go to, I always get excellent service and a great experience at Cahaba Cycles!

They have a great selection of bikes and equipment. If they dont have it they will order for you and get it quick. My wife and I were wanting to test ride a model that they didnt currently have in our size, so they had one brought over from one of their other locations. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Just an overall great experience!!

I dont remember the name of the man that helped me select a bike, but he went above and beyond to make it a great experience and we found the bike that was right for my experience/budget. He even had the bike delivered from another location with enough time to have it set up and hit the trail. I cant say enough good things about this type of service! I am very happy with my recent experience getting my bike worked on here. they have a professional shop and pro mechanics. I walked in with my 4 year old Trek Navigator and and hour later I walked out with it fixed. They had the part in stock (twist shift grip and cable) and the very nice and professional tech also fixed my back brake when he notice a problem that I was not aware of. My bike rides like a new bike now. I highly recommend this excellent shop.

Oh man, the Cahaba Cycles team is just the best! Chris, Caitlin, and Catherine must be three of the nicest, kindest, friendliest people Ive ever met. I was pretty trepidatious about buying a new bike and returning to cycling after so many years (and pounds) away from it, but they encouraged me, treated me with tremendous respect, and made sure I knew I could be successful. I cant say enough good things about the folks who work here.Everyone at the Homewood store was very knowledgeable. The best part, though, was that they were super willing to admit when they didnt know something and quickly sought out the right answers for me. Thats a sign of a real professional, and I cant begin to tell you how rare it truly is.From my initial in-store chat with Chris to the moment of Caitlin rang me up, the Homewood team made finding a new bike and the related necessities an absolute breeze. They offered fantastic equipment recommendations at multiple price points, allowing me to put together a package that met my needs while staying within my budget. More importantly, they gave me the confidence to make the right purchase and put it to use every single day.Tl;dr: These folks are a team of fantastic human beings who run a top notch shop filled with terrific products and you should go give them your money.

Incredibly frustrating experience buying a new pair of road bike shoes. I will say, nothing about my body is normal, Ive got really wide feet and have to wear a shim on the right to make up for a leg length discrepancy. I went in shopping for a wide pair of shoes. I wasnt quite sure on size and asked if they could order both for me to come try on in the store and make a decision. I was told that couldnt be done. So I opted on the larger pair to be safe. To their credit, when I wasnt happy with the shoes and needed the smaller size, they got right on it and ordered the new pair and gave me a few days to try them and make a decision. Thats when the frustration began; I had to make multiple trips back and forth to address the fact that I needed a larger shim on the right. Ultimately I walked 2 doors down to the other bike shop and they fixed the issue right up immediately. Additionally, I felt like the footplate and cleat on the shoe were way more posterior and externally rotated than my old pair of trusty Shimanos. I was told that because of my particular pair of pedals and cleats that this wasnt adjustable. I suspected this wasnt the case because the bottom of the shoe has a marking grid to allow you to gauge distance and rotation. So what did I do? Took em home, popped off the cleat, lo and behold the footplate has all kinds of options for adjustment. I dont know if this was lack of knowledge, laziness, or an attempt to sell me a pair of pedals and cleats that were adjustable - but it seems someone who works in a bike shop should know this kind of thing. All in all a very poor experience. To their credit, everyone in the store is super nice and friendly but I wasnt real pleased with my shoe experience, especially based on the amount of money spent on some nice shoes.
