Im so relieved to have found Momentum Motorworks. We have a 2009 Porsche Cayenne, my wifes baby. It needed some attention and had had a questionable experience from another highly rated local shop.Ive owned several Porches over the years and am currently far away the regular support I had in Columbia SC.I found Momentum by referral, stopped by to meet with Carl, their Porsche mechanic with 41 years experience and found a talented and professional kindred spirit.He understood that this was her daily driver and made room the next week for a two day repair. Just amazing customer support!Even on a short Memorial week, he was able to complete our service a day early and get her back on the road.He also completed a thorough itemized inspection since it had just passed 100k.Cannot over sell what that meant to both she and me.The whole staff at Momentum was an absolute pleasure to work with.If you are a fan and owner of German cars, cannot recommend this group highly enough.

Where to begin with Momentum. I have a 1992 BMW 850 which is notoriously one of the most difficult cars to work on. It’s also extremely difficult to find someone or a shop that is willing to take the time to properly diagnose and repair this car. I stopped into Momentum as a last ditch effort to have someone look at it. I had the pleasure of speaking with Matt Thomas. This guy is as professional and trustworthy as they come. He said they would absolutely look at it but no promises could be made.Matt’s level of communication and honesty far exceeded my expectations. He didn’t sugar coat anything and was blunt in regards to the cost of repairs. He never tried to sell me anything that wasn’t needed and was more than happy to piecemeal the repair process. It got to the point the repair was going to get extremely expensive. I asked him to stop the job and mentioned that I would be donating the car. Matt went a step further and said, “before you do that, I might know a guy that would be interested.” Matt made the phone call and I was able to sell the car that day.I can’t say enough good things about this business. When the situation presents itself again, Momentum will be my first stop. Keep up the great work, guys!

Ive used Momentum to service my 2008 BMW 328i for the past (4) years; up until recently, Ive had a very positive experience, and in particular, I respected my Service Advisor (Sparks) for being knowledgeable, fair, and accommodating. He would advise me on what repairs were critical, which issues could wait, and what I needed to plan on moving forward.Sparks left the company this year, and things have not been the same ever since.For example, in August of last year (2020), I paid $129 for an oil change. This price is typical going back to 2018.In April of this year (2021), I dropped my car off for another oil change and was charged $372 (!!!). The reason for the increase is that Momentum now offers a Vehicle Maintenance Package that includes the oil change and replacing the cabin air filter plus fuel system treatment.While I appreciate Momentum pouring BG44K into the gas tank and dropping in a new filter, I dont feel like charging THREE TIMES the previous-years Oil Change price is warranted for the services performed; in fact, packaging these 3 tasks together seems like it was intended to deliberately deceive & overcharge customers. I questioned this with the new service advisor (this is when I found out Sparks no longer worked there) but decided not to make an issue due to the previous 4 years of quality workmanship.3 month later, on 21 July, my AC Blower stopped working, and I dropped the car off at Momentum. They diagnosed the issue as the blower motor, which was what I suspected, and had told them, but despite a verbal $150 to $175 estimate to replace this part, the actual estimate was around $700 after the issue was officially diagnosed. The $700 included the Service Advisor including a diagnostic fee discount that, according to him, was doing me a favor, despite the fact that I had told them what the issue was in the first place. I told them to NOT repair the car, and that I would have the Blower replaced somewhere else; I was still charged the $136 Diagnostic Fee.Less than 30 minutes later, the engine shut down while driving, blocking traffic on a busy parkway near my house. Despite Momentum claiming that they had measured 13.6V at the Blower Motor, the actual cause of the AC Blower failure and the car dying was the Alternator, not the BlowerI had the car towed to another repair shop, and replacing the alternator (the original from 2008) fixed the AC Blower issue (its still working now). I reported this to Momentum, in order for them to know that they misdiagnosed the issue, and had clearly NOT tested the battery or electrical system, and yet was still charged for an inaccurate diagnosis.Nevertheless, no one from Momentum ever reached out regarding this issue.Its clear that this is not the same company that it was a few years ago, and I wont bring my cars here again. The only reason Im giving 3 stars instead of 1 is due to the three years of quality work prior to 2021.

The guys at Momentum are great!! They are the only ones I trust to work on my 2004 BMW Z4. They repaired the convertible top motors and hydraulic pumps, engine motor mounts, multiple sensors, replaced the windshield washer pump, battery and host of other small things. My car feels, looks and runs like new again! They have always done great work and returned it when they promised. They’ve been professional, courteous and understanding. I rarely leave reviews but these guys are great!!

This was my first visit to Momentum with my almost new 2018 540i. They made me feel like I was a regular customer - very friendly and engaging. I needed the brake fluid flush and they completed that along with a full service check. Nothing additional needed (except a battery for the key fob), but I will return for my next service.

They replaced the IMS Bearing in my 996 911 a few years ago (Ive since sold the car). I leased a C300 and it needed a service. I was not happy with my dealership in my last encounter with them due to a warranty issue. So I decided to let Momentum do my service. Definitely a good decision. They inflated the parts pricing by 200% and they charged us 3 hours of labor to do an hour and a half job. They also tried to charge us 20 hours of labor that will take 6 hours. Go to BMW or elsewhere if you have one.

Matt the service manager and Mary the office manager were great to work with in ordering and installing a new set of tires for my BMW X3! Mary made sure the communications and logistics of drop off and pick up were clear. Matt took a lot of time helping me decide on which tire would work best for my car and patiently explained my options, pros and cons for different types of tires, and answered every question with an expert authority. It was a very positive experience. The cost of the tires, installation and alignment were hundreds of dollars less than what my dealership offered. I have found my BMW repair shop! As soon as my maintenance warranty runs out, Momentum Motorworks is getting my business.

Momentum is great about keeping records for cars and letting you know ahead of your appointment which service is due, and also what will be due next time. I took my “new to me” ‘09 BMW 328i convertible in for an oil change and to look for a leak and was terrified to see how much it would cost. Sparks DeMent and Momentum Motorworks surprised me and in a good way! The customer service and communication was top notch and the prices were very fair. The leak was from an “o” ring that was not put back from the last oil change (somewhere else that doesn’t specialize in BMW’s and isn’t trained) and it soaked most of my hoses and belts. The oil reservoir gasket was also leaking. They were able to save a couple of the belts by cleaning them thoroughly. The radiator hose needed to be replaced and they told me that it’s possible that when you try to remove the hose from the radiator, it will break off and the radiator would have to be replaced. This apparently happens frequently so they were preparing me for the worst. They were able to safely get the hose off and saved me about $650. Other places with less scruples could have easily broken it off and charged me and I would have been none the wiser. That restored my faith in humanity! I also had to have 4 new tires and the price was about $40 cheaper than Walmart for the exact same tires and Momentum does a more thorough installation. And Walmart’s price didn’t include the alignment. The work was done quickly and my baby runs better than ever! I absolutely am a Momentum Motorworks customer for life!! I will not take my car anywhere else!

Rory and his team not only are great but honest. At first glance, my car seemed to need a new steering rack and a few other things so i gave the go ahead for the work to be done. Next day Momentum phones me and lets me know after further inspection that the expensive steering rack was not the issue. Easily could have fooled me. Great work, Fair price and honest!

Sparks was also very upfront in the timeframe to get my vehicle into and out of the shop due to Momentums popularity.Once the vehicle was looked over, Sparks called me to go over all of the findings, recommendations, and prices but was also very realistic in our expectations. I was excited to take my vehicle to get reprogrammed. I was told one price over the phone then charged a higher price once the work was complete. Also, I had requested a quote for my a/c vents to be repaired but they decided to charge $130 to tell me that they were broken ... i already knew that. Which just my bill higher. All in all, I was told that reprogramming would be between $150-$200 and all in all I ended up spending almost $500 just to have this one thing done. Very disappointed. Might try them again because since the reprogramming, my windows are rolling themselves down and my side mirrors have a mind of their own so who knows what they actually did. On the positive note, my gas gauge does work.

I took my wife’s X3 in this afternoon when it started running roughly and showed various messages. Matt quickly diagnosed the problem. It was also due for service. They corrected the problem and did the service within a few hours. I have always been pleased with their service.

Rory and his crew have been taking excellent care of my 03 Mercedes SUV! The customer service is through the roof but what is more valuable to me is knowing that I am not being taken advantage of. In my experience, it’s not uncommon to sometimes doubt your mechanic and whether or not you got the actual service you need. Not so at Momentum. I completely trust them with my Mercedes. They have better prices than the dealership, outstanding customer service, and expertise second to none. The shop is cleaner than any other mechanic shop I’ve seen. On my last trip there for brake work, they found another issued I didn’t even know I had and took me back to the shop so the mechanic could explain the issue so I would understand. It was a loose bolt that could have created bigger issues. They fixed at no charge. Most importantly, they took the time to show and explain to me and perhaps eliminated future problems. They created trust.And as many others have mentioned in their reviews, Sparks IS the man. He makes checking in and out easy and keeps you informed of your cars status. He makes you feel welcome and “at home” while there.Momentum will always have my business.

I have taken my Porsche 911 in several times for oil changes, minor and major service. The staff are always great, and Carl does a great job explaining everything. Highly recommend these guys!

A couple of weeks ago, I trusted Momentum Motorworks to take care of our customized X6, and was pleased. After only receiving servicing/repairs from the dealership, I initially had reservations. And because of unexpected demands on my schedule, my wife was the contact for our maintenance. She spoke with Matt, who was very thorough and extremely professional. In fact, everyone was pleasant. After our service, it drove like day one of our factory pick-up in SC. Great job! We have a new shop, MM.
