This place is very popular on the weekends and they dont take reservations. We waited for about 45 minutes to be seated. As much as I hate waiting, it was definitely worth it. On the day we went, the street was closed to traffic to accommodate outdoor dining. But we were seated inside, which was nice since it was a hot day and we got to enjoy the ac and kitschy decor. I ordered the Pork Belly Eggs Benedict 😋 off the specials menu. So good it should be on the regular menu. The person who brought our food out was different from the person who took our orders, but he knew exactly who ordered what! Uncanny. Staff was friendly, possibly psychic and as cool 😎 as the ac. Even the manager stopped by to ask how we were doing. As we were waiting outside I saw a family complain about the flies that were hanging around their table. Soon after, the server wiped the table and chairs down and bug sprayed the area. Really impressed by their quick and proactive response. Will definitely be back.

Quirky menu lots of choice. Large venue with funky decor, are outdoor dining space out the front. I wasnt bowled over by my breakfast, but I had eggs and sausage. I had asked for sweet potato hash instead of breakfast potatoes but it arrived with the latter. Not delivered by our waitress so I got her attention. She said it was her fault and they would be 5 minutes for the hash. I waited wanting to eat my eggs and sausage with it. I was disappointed when the bill came to see I had been charged. It wouldve been in my eyes a moment to not charged the extra $3 as it was the servers mistake and I had waited. Instead of complaining I gave a lesser tip and decided I wouldnt return here again. My colleagues werent bowled over either. One had the pumpkin pancakes, another an omelette.

Breakfast haven esp for gluten free patrons. The Blueberry GF pancakes were the best ever. Full flavor perfect cake like density. Menu has endless options. Prices reasonable for area. Fun eclectic decor. Friendly staff. Place is super busy so pace of service can vary. Finding Parking spot nearby biggest challenge. Very popular place. Helpful option via Yelp to get on their wait list for table ahead of visit. Outdoor patio seating available.

This place is worth the stop! It’s got a fun vibe and great food. I had the chicken and waffles. It was a very interesting take on what is usually a simple dish. Ultimately I liked it, but there was a lot going on with this dish. The basics were good, the waffle had a nice flavor and the chicken was moist with a flavorful and crispy outside. It was topped with bacon and corn and some very well balanced sweet, and a little, spicy sauces. Everything tasted really good together, but after I was about half way through it became a bit overwhelming. My daughter had the fried donut, egg and sausage sandwich. She really liked it! It had a great combination of sweet and salty and the sauces it came with paired with it very well. I think if we lived here we would come back time and time again. The menu had so many great sounding items.

Absolutely phenomenal place to eat! They serve their full menu all day long. This means you can eat dinner for breakfast or vice versa. The staff was amazing, fun and very friendly. The vibe in there is really cool as well as all the decorations. Dont get discouraged if there is a wait to get seated as its totally worth it. The churro bites are yummy and always cooked perfectly. K adore the different items like the king chest which are 3 pancakes layered with bacon and banana. Its super delicious. Keep in mind though that one pancake is really large..like bigger than your face. If youre in the area you must check this place out. Ill be back every time Im in town.

I had a great brunch here with family. Its a very busy place and we had to call early in the morning to be put on a wait-list to get in by 10 a.m. We overheard someone being told that the wait time for a table was 2 hours, so definitely call in advance for the wait-list when theyre busy! Theres both indoor and outdoor seating, and the decor is very lively and fun. There can be a long wait for your food after ordering because of how busy it is, but its well worth the wait because the dishes are well prepared and delicious! I recommend eating here if you can.

Funky little restaurant worth the visit. The waiting/reservation system via Yelp is not ideal as that just gets you on the waiting list. Then you have to check in and face a longer wait to actually get it. Long story - it could take an hour to get seated.I would describe the menu as eclectic brunch. Lots of great options with a twist and the cocktail offerings are excellent. Food was satisfying - think comfort food, and servings generous.Overall, if you want a nice brunch and willing to wait a little, make sure you visit.

Got a chance to visit Boston this weekend, coming from Texas. Decided to try The Friendly Toast Restaurant for breakfast. This place was putting off some good vibes, and I loved the decor. Very friendly staff and the bartender, Amy was very helpful.Sklarmegeddon Omelette - An omelette built to kill, with sausage, bacon, ham, jalapeno-jack and cheddar cheeses, topped with a chipotle maple sour cream & crushed red chili pecans. Served with seasoned home fries and toast.Breakfast Egg Rolls - two crispy egg rolls filled with scrambled eggs, house corn beef hash, pickled onion slaw, and swiss cheese, served with a hot honey sauce. The Sklarmegeddon Omelette was delicious! Eggs could have been a little more seasoned to my taste, but thats what salt is there for. I enjoyed the combination of ingredients in the omelette, and the chipotle maple sour cream was a game changer. The red chili pecans also really set it off. Cinnamon Raisin Toast came with my meal. Now, Im from Texas and I know a good slice of toast when I see one! They gave me a nice thicc slice of cinnamon raisin toast that really hit hard! The seasoned home fries were little cuts of potatoes that was the perfect match for my omelette. Eating both in tandem was a match made in heavens kitchen.Hot damn for that hot honey sauce that came with my egg rolls! First off, breakfast egg rolls? Bruh! That was amazing! All and all I really enjoyed The Friendly Toast Restaurant, and their amazing staff. For more reviews, check out my IG @rawhide_reviews8 out of 10 Brave Little Toasters

We have a new champion.I love a good breakfast probably more than I should. Few things make me say, God bless the South, like a morning meal at the old Holland House in Charleston or Biscuit Love in Nashville. But the South should now be on notice that rising again is more difficult than ever when facing The Friendly Toast in Boston.Although the wait was an hour, once seated and conscientiously tended by Nate, I got the one breakfast to rule them all, the surf and turf benny. Outstanding, all the way around.

This was my first time visiting The Friendly Toast and I have to say I was extremely impressed! Our waiter was extremely attentive and patient. The manager came to our table and was very friendly and informative. He definitely knows his menu and personally made my husbands mai tai, which was perfection in a glass! We ordered the appetizer sampler and it was amazing! Everything on the dish was a packed full of flavor and gooey deliciousness!!! The chicken and waffles breakfast offered well seasoned chicken fried to perfection! The waffles were lighter and fluffy, a true delight that, honestly, do not require the real maple syrup that is available. The Bloody Mary flight was delicious, it had interesting flavors and was a pleasant surprise. The margarita flight was devine and substitutes are available (can double up on a flavor, if for example, someone has an allergy). Inside and outside seating is available. I highly recommend this restaurant great environment for catching up with a girlfriend, connecting with family, or a brunch date! Just make certain to bring your appetite!

Awesome fusion food with fun names. Small and crowded. Imagine being in a dive bar that was upgraded to a club then covered into a restaurant. I dont mean that in a bad way, its cool and Ive done there with some colleges after work for drinks and breakfast(we are 3rd shift workers). But the last time they had to open late due to some electrical problems. So I parked and walked in the rain just to find out they arent open. I wish parking was refundable. Tried this restaurant twice for breakfast on 2 different days.Day 1 I ordered the breakfast empanadas & specialty mimosa flight! The empanadas contained vegan sausage, eggs, potatoes, and cheese! The crust was super flakey and buttery. There was an everything bagel aioli on top and it added just the right tang to it. They were super filling and I would order them again for sure. The mimosa flight was also super good. Simply the zest and lavender lemonade were my top two. The second day I ordered a single pancake (it was huge), I created an omelet ( spinach, onions, cheddar cheese) that came with a side & toast, I ordered a vegan sausage link and a full size Simply the Zest. The pancake was amazing...the edges were crispy & the middle was fluffy. It reminded me of a good homemade pancake. The omelet was filed a good bit & the only critique I had for that is that I wish they would have diced my onions instead of slicing them. The vegan sausage was really good & did not have a weird consistency. I ate it with the thick toast slices. My side was the home fries & I wish I would have done a larger portion. They were crispy, seasoned well, and still tender on the inside... This was a great experience & I would love to try something else next time

Review №34

Food and server were excellent. I got the chicken & waffles, my friends got the Friendly Toast Benny and Doughnut Stop Believin. The Pickle Bloody Mary was also delicious. The reason for 3 stars is because we were told a 30-45 min wait. The wait ended up being an hour and tables were empty on the patio. We sat down and 5 tables around us were ready to seat people(cleaned & silverware) but the hostess was telling people the wait was an hour.

Review №35

Lets start with the nice things here: food is awesome, ando so is service. The waiters always make sure youre not missing anything. However, there are major flaws:First off, this place gets really badly packed, which is common. However, their management regarding this is poor. We asked for a table for 2, and we were added to the waitlist. We were told that waiting time would be somewhere around 1 hour. So we left a telephone number (they asked for it) and off we went to Flour (which is next door) to drink a coffee and wait. We came back an hour later only to see that THERE WERE AT LEAST 5 TABLES ALL FREED UP AND READY TO BE OCCUPPIED. So we asked the hostess if we could be seated, and we were promptly seated. We were not called by the restaurant. This rises eyebrows: do you not follow your waiting list? Do you not care about it? Or maybe you just forget about it?Second major problem: outdoor seating is terrible. The sun burns really badly and there are no shades whatsoever. Eating with the sun burning your neck is not nice.2/5.

You can always count on the Friendly Toast for a great breakfast with big portions and fast service, even when they’re slammed. The one thing that doesn’t hold up for me is the price point—menu items are around standard for brunch food, but every substitution or small addition racks up a few dollars of charges and it’s really easy to accidentally spend $30 per person on what looks like a simple breakfast.

This is an amazing breakfast/brunch spot with a creative menu, ample outside seating, and a small park directly next to it where your children can play and you can watch them while you have a drink and brunch, a breakfast appetizer, or a full breakfast. We were in town visiting, and this was recommended by a local friend. I have always wondered why breakfast menus cant be more creative. It is always the same old fare. If you are looking for more, the Friendly Toast is it. I dont know about you, but I am not used to breakfast restaurants having appetizers. But Friendly Toast does. You can choose from churro bites, breakfast empanadas, egg rolls, or cheese stuffed tater tots. They also have a separate drink menu for Bloody Marys, another for Mimosas and another for all other alcoholic drinks to make for a fun brunch. I had heard they served large portions, and we had a long day of site seeing, so I did not get a drink or appetizer though I wanted both. Instead, I got the special- Waffle Lotta Pride -Fruity Pebble stuffed French toast. It was beyond amazing. You would think from looking at it that it would put you in a food coma and be too sweet, but it was just right. It had fruity pebbles mixed into the waffle batter, so they are not the predominant flavor. That comes from the cream cheese icing drizzle that both stuffs the waffle sandwich and is drizzled on top. It also has whipped cream and a bit of sparkle sugar, as well as rainbow candy to top it off. I never would have thought to put cream cheese icing glaze on a waffle but it works. I loved it. They also have gluten free pancakes, vegan pancakes and Strawberry French toast stuffed with chocolate ganache with cheesecake glaze. I mean! C’mon! I wish I could eat breakfast here everyday! For those who like savory, there are FIVE types of eggs bene (including a gluten free one), breakfast burritos (including a gluten free one) and all types of omelets. My sister had avocado toast that came with a fruit salad. She liked it a lot, but wished they used sour dough bread. I could see all around us at the outside tables that people were excited and happy by their food. The server was welcoming and attentive and continuously filled our water glasses and checked on us to make sure we were good. He answered all our questions about the menu in a non- rushed manner, even though the restaurant was busy.We got there about 5 minutes before the opened on a Sunday, and there was already a line. We had signed in on the app to try to reserve a spot, but we still had to join the line. The hostess said they liked to honor those who were there waiting, so get there early and expect a wait. It is very well worth it. I promise!

What can I say about The Friendly Toast! Food was delicious! Had the Monster Breakfast with french toast instead of pancakes...it was the best choice...I also got it stuffed...well it wasnt stuffed it was layered between two piece of French toast. I also got a waffle to take and eat the next day. I believe my cousin had to Margarita flights but I was at the table with her so Im not sure and I dont know if she enjoyed it or not but maybe she did ? Only downside would be our seating arrangements. We were a party of seven (would have been 6 but we had a family member join us last minute) and it looks they only accommodate up to six. So we basically sat at two different tables. You would think they would seat us next to each other but nope. Also when I got up to stand in front of our second table to chat for a few minutes I was asked to put on my mask and I found that kind of counterintuitive considering everyone around me didnt have their masks on and its not like they were eating. The only difference was that I was standing and they sitting down. Also the bathroom is downstairs and when you go downstairs youre actually see an opening and theres another bar. Oh as you can see from the pictures you can eat outside but when its cold who wants to eat outside(?). Would I eat at The Friendly Toast again? Yes for the food!

The food was very delicious! I had the chicken cordon bleu benny and the eggs were cooked perfectly! My husband had the monster breakfast with french toast and he enjoyed it. We both werent able to finish it but what a shame cuz it was yummy! I took a picture of my plate when I was halfway through it so you can see the size of that thing! It was awesome.

Loved this place on my first visit to Boston. The staff welcomed me (Im travelling alone) and seated me quickly each time I visited - I went multiple times! I was served by some lovely people who were attentive and warm. The food was great in every sense - quality, price, and size! Highly recommended.

The wait was not to long, food and service was awesome the only reason I will not give a five is because of not being greeted by the owner as she did with others… her attitude towards my husband and myself was not the most welcoming, not even a Thank you as we were on our way out and she was standing right at the door…other than that it’s a cool place. Will I be returning….Doubt it!

Encourages customers to start heavy on liquors at 10 am. I did not stay to try the food. If you like liquor for breakfast this is the place to go

The service here was good. You’ll likely have to make reservations or get on a wait list for brunch, but their system works well and their time estimates seem accurate.I really enjoyed the service, but the food was a little too busy being eclectic to taste super good.

We were looking to have a family brunch with a family friend too, and thought this places menu sounded delicious. Unfortunately, I cant review it because even after an hour and a half of waiting, we were turned away because we werent on the waiting list, despite receiving a confirmation text saying we were. I can appreciate the fact that this restaurant just opened and a long wait comes with the territory. What is unacceptable is going through all the right processes, with proof that we did, and waiting for an hour and a half only to be denied. We tried to rectify the issue with the hostess, but she was so unapologetic and unaccommodating, and just brushed us off, saying weve called everyone, let me show you the list. Even after telling her we could show her proof we ought to be on it, she still insisted that because of an issue on their end, we wouldnt be served, and she couldnt even offer an explanation as to why we received a text saying we would.

I have been eating at the Friendly Toast during every Boston visit or pass-thru for the past8+ years! It is my favorite spot.During COVID times, they are taking all necessary precautions to make my feel safe while splurging snd enjoys a breakfast for champions. Unfortunately, we always over order because everything is so good. The best is to share all meals to sample as much as possible.NY loves the Friendly Toast!
