Edited: I want to make clear that Rocky Mountain Music Repair is an awesome place. I and my family have had (and continue to have) an excellent experience there, and want it to thrive as a successful, local, community music sales and repair business. I encourage everyone to patronize the store without hesitation, as we will continue to do! In my original review, I had taken off a star due to the presence of a dog in the store, but after discussing it with my wife, and given the kind and patient response from the owner, we felt that was *much* too harsh. While I do want to gently push back on the over-prevalence of pets in commercial establishments everywhere (grocery stores, big box stores, hardware stores, malls, etc.), I realized this is not the place to do it. My apologies! Five enthusiastic stars for RMMR. They will treat you right, as they have treated me on multiple occasions.
Best service! Michael is always very friendly and the repair cost was very reasonable.
I am a music teacher and freelance musician in the area and always send my school and personal instruments to Rocky Mountain Music Repair. They are true professionals in their craft. Instruments are serviced well and they always complete the work fast. They even went out of their way to fix a strap inside my trombone case without me requesting it! Not only is their service top notch, but I have never been to an instrument repair business that values their community more than RMMR. They hang all of the school band t-shirts they receive from the band directors in their area within their shop. They have even gone the extra mile to pick up and drop off school instruments personally once the work is complete. We are so glad to have you in our community!
Great instrument repair service at a good price
What lovely gentlemen that helped us today! We have a newly passionate clarinet player and we wanted to be sure she learned about caring for her instrument properly. Not only were they kind and informative but they were excited for her too. Thank you for the amazing service. We cant wait to come back to pick up our instrument.
Brought in my sons older used French Horn that started having some playing issues. They re-soldered a couple of broken brackets, installed a water key, and did a thorough cleaning, restrung, and lubricated. When I got the horn back, I noticed the next day the trigger valve was making a slight scraping noise. Brought the horn back, and they immediately popped the trigger valve out, cleaned and re-oiled it. Now the horn is playing great. These guys know their stuff, and are very customer friendly. I highly recommend them.
I cannot recommend them enough!! I went to them to have my fathers (now antique) oboe fully restored as a surprise birthday gift. Brian was super helpful in giving us background info on it (to know it was absolutely worth restoring), and was authentically excited to do the work for us, especially since it would mean so much to my dad. He restored that oboe to an amazing level, ensuring it was fully pressure tested, replacing all the pads, reinforcing an old repaired crack, shining up all the keys, conditioning the wood, and even repainting the old goldleaf logos. My dad was so surprised and overwhelmed, it was an amazing moment - all thanks to Rocky Mountain Music Repair! They even expedited the work to make sure I had it in time for his birthday. Absolutely wonderful people and fantastic workmanship. My dad has been practicing daily now, and his love of music has been rekindled. Thank you so much for this work, it meant so much to us!
Looking for a bell cover for wifes French Horn. Wife got a call today from Rocky Mountain Music that bell covers came in today. And can pick up anytime.
These folks are great. Fixed two trombones, one of which hadnt been played for 40 years. Great price and both horns play great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely going back for any other music needs.
Brian and Deanna (the owners) did a cleaning and overhaul on my sousaphone and now it is playing better than ever! Top notch work and super friendly. I have a bunch more horns that will be visiting their horn spa for some TLC!
These guys are the best! I brought my alto saxophone in to be cleaned (it had been neglected for literally years) and repadded and they had it done in an incredibly short time with expert results. Thanks again!
Rocky Mountain Music Repair was wonderful! Our trumpet had sticky valves and a few other and I could tell from talking to them that they 1) really know instruments well and how to repair them and 2) really care about and enjoy what they do! I would recommend them to anyone who needs their services! Thanks so much for fixing our horn and making it useful again!
I brought my 1971 Conn 48H Constellation trombone in for repair and cleaning. The tuning slide and counterweight had fallen off. I had this repaired and had one of the two inner slide tubes replaced. The cost was very reasonable and the quality of the work was outstanding. They were very helpful and customer friendly. Will definitely go back for future work when needed and I highly recommend them.
Rocky Mountain Music is my go-to for everything! Brian is very knowledgeable and can help you with whatever questions you may have. Support your local small businesses!
Great work at a great price. Turnaround time is awesome as well. Highly recommend.
I am always so happy when I use Rocky Mountain Music Repair! The owners truly know their craft inside and out, are always friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. I highly recommend this shop for any instrument repair needs!
Had exactly what I needed and had knowledge of what counties (schools) band requirements were needed for covid, that was helpful.
We had a great experience here and intend to bring all of our instruments for maintenance and repair! They were speedy, respectful, and did excellent work!
They were able to fix my sons trombone faster than the other store I tried to get it fixed at! The folks inside were very kind and helpful! I also feel they are pretty fairly caprices to fix the horn!
Brian and everyone at Rocky Mountain Music Repair are amazing!! Theyre knowledgable, responsive, and professional. I would recommend them for any needs big and small.
Amazing
Very well done, quick service, reasonable rates, Virus precautions in place.thanks very much
I cant say enough good things about Rocky Mountain Music Repair! Weve been taking our sons instruments there for years for repair and the owners are simply fantastic. Fast, quality, and reasonably priced work and they are always knowledgeable and friendly. Plus I love how supportive they are of all of the local high school bands. Highly recommend!!
I was super impressed with Rocky Mountain Music Repair. My son needed the octave lever repaired on his saxophone. They repaired it for free while we waited. They were friendly and very helpful. I will definitely go back if we ever need any more repairs.
Friendly, helpful, professional.
It took a while and its pretty expensive, but they did a great job fixing up my horn, definitely worth it.
By far the best place for repairs. Most places have to send the instruments out for someone else to do them which takes a lot of time. Rocky mountain does most repairs while you wait if possible. I cant say thanks enough for the adjustment needed on my sons bass clarinet!
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Stopping by is like seeing old friends. Brian clearly has a passion for music and instrument repair, and he keeps up with the latest techniques. Plus, they are staunch supporters of local music, and as a Boulder Concert Band member, I appreciate that a lot. I highly recommend Rocky Mountain Music Repair!
I loved the service given there. Always has a great attitude and a very comfortable feeling. I also loved the room where your given the option to play whatever instrument is available to play and mouthpiece is also available. Overall a wonder person and great place to be
The people at RMMR are awesome. We had a vintage guitar that we brought in their recently for repair and the turn around time was amazing. The price was good too. We are selling this guitar and they were nice enough to chat with me about what we should expect to get for it when selling privately. I would definitely return here.
I highly recommend going here for all your instrument repairing needs! I sent in my Wilson Euphonium to remove dents and the owner not only removed the large dents, but removed ALL the dents and ran a full inspection of the horn and fixed some unseen issues. They KNOW WHAT THEYRE doing! Friendly people and great to work with! You arent just a number here!
Great service! Quality instruments! Knowledgeable staff! I love this place!
Went in to get a trumpet repaired. They were straight with me that it was beyond saving. Would cost more than it was worth, but offered to take something off the price of a new (actually vintage, but gorgeous) trumpet and let me trade the old one for parts. Wound up taking about 100 bucks off the price of this gorgeous 1920s satchmo style trumpet in darn near mint condition. Im never going anywhere else.
We recently purchased a used baritone for my daughter at RMMR. After such a great experience, I cant imagine going to any other shop. Brian is extremely helpful and has great rapport with kids. He took his time explaining the nuances of how to pick the right instrument for the player, how to maintain the instrument, and the differences between some of the other instruments. Its obvious hes passionate about music (he has a degree in music education and was a band director), about instrument repair (he knows how to play ALL the instruments so he can pick-up on subtle issues), and getting kids playing music (his prices are reasonable). Its the kind of shop every music teacher and player wants in their community. And he likes good beer - he was wearing a 4 Noses Brewing t-shirt when we were there; one of our local favorites. Cant recommend high enough.
I been there twice for fixing my daughters flute. They are outstanding in their services. Reasonably priced too. Highly recommend.
I brought my sons (very old) violin in to be adjusted as the pegs that keep the string taut were slipping. I dont have a clue about violins. After taking a quick glance at the violin the repairman (owner?) showed me the tiny screws at the ends of the pegs that he said just had to be turned about an eighth of a rotation in order to tighten the pegs and stop them from slipping. Apparently these were mechanical pegs. After doing the quick tightening he then tuned the violin. Total charge: $0. I will, of course, be taking the violin back here if it ever needs any other work.
I bought a tuba here a few months ago and it has been awesome. They are really friendly and made the buying experience wonderfully easy.
Professional, welcoming and affordable. The owners and staff are highly skilled, experienced, knowledgeable and honest. They are ready to answer any questions you might have.
First rate band instrument repair and very nice people as well. Highly reccomended.
Great place, fixed my daughters clarinet for free while we waited. Thank you for being here and local.
Absolutely wonderful. Ive never had such a great repair experience. I brought in my Buffet E-11 clarinet to get a cork replaced about a month ago and not only did they replace my cork (and show me how to do it as well), they also checked my instrument for any other needed repairs and fixed other problems that I didnt even realize I had. All the repairs were done in a very timely manner and both the owners were extremely friendly and personable (not to mention they have adorable dogs). Not only that, but my repairs werent expensive either--even though they did some extra work on my instrument. I dont think you could find better service anywhere else.
I met Brian and RMMR 5 years ago while shopping for a trumpet for my 5th grader. Its such a fantastic place to do business! I wouldnt go anywhere else. With a sophomore playing three horns and a 5th grader playing 1 we see our share of repairs.
Thank you. Exceptional customer service. Friendly. Helpful. Informative. Rented an instrument, had a great conversation, and was out in 20 minutes.
They did a great job fixing my daughter’s trumpet in a timely manner.
