They fixed up my low end road ace 303 bike made it shift smoother with a tune up...made the front wheel perfectly straight ....did a great handle bar wrap ..all with staff and mechanics that are good at what they do... and take time to explain little things that made a huge difference with great customer service and what I felt were very good prices
Christina behind the counter was amazing! so helpful and made me feel welcomed. they explained everything perfectly. i’m normally hesitant to come in bike shops but i felt perfectly taken care of with their assistance! thank you so much Christina! i found my new go to bike shop!
Great customer service! We specifically worked with Jason first by phone and then in store. Christina also greeted us in store when we arrived and helped with the sale. They all clearly work well together and theres teamwork. They were professional but also fun. My son has wanted a specific brand of bike for at least 6 months and they had one. As much as he hid it today, the kid couldnt be happier or more excited. Bonus is hes out and about and not in the house. I look forward to future purchases there. No more buying from big box stores. Thanks Ricks. 100% recommended!
I bought my first adult bike from here many years ago, and bikes for my kids as well. Over the years I have only come to Ricks for my biking and repair needs because they know me, my bike and our quirks, and quickly resolve any issues my bike is having to get me back on the road asap. Today they replaced my tires while I waited and had me in and out in 20 minutes or less after making a great recommendation for an upgrade in tires since I ride my bike as far into the Buffalo winters as I can. They built this bike for me years ago and continue to treat us both very well❤ There is another bike shop closer to my home, but I will always make the extra time to get to Ricks where my love of bicycling began.
Great shop. Fixed my tire in less that 10 minutes! Nostalgic feeling, no pressure, speedy service and knowledgeable. This is the only bike shop Ill be going to from now on.
Place is great. Staff is amazing and all bikes / products are high quality.
About 3 weeks ago my dad bought a bike from this place for about $250, and he wasnt satisfied with the bike and so he wanted to return or exchange the bike, we called and asked if you we would be able to return it and they said yes and they wouldnt give the full refund and we were fine with that, and then when we went its was just a mess, ended giving bike back for about $50, which is 4 times less then how much we originally bought it for. Also the one of the employees was pretty rude when i called them.So thank you guys.
Accommodated me on the spot and was able to give me a tune up and overhaul of my bike in less than a 24 hour turn around time. Very knowledgeable, very helpful and willing to do whatever it takes to satisfy my bicycle needs. I will absolutely be going back!
IM SO.. SO PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE I RECEIVED THAT I WOULD GIVE THEM A 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ AND ONE MORE.THE REPAIR WAS PROMPT. IF YOU NEED TO GET A BIT OF ONE ON ONE SERVICE THEN THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. ALL THE PARTS YOU NEED AND MANY, MANY ACCESSORIES FOR THE BIKE RIDE. SHOP ONE SHOP AT RICKS BIKE
My go to shop when I need something a little different. Very personal. Not like big Box bike shops
Never actually purchased a bike here but have bought various parts and have had repairs and truing done. Decent selection of parts and prices are very reasonable. Accomodating and knowledgable staff are never pushy or rude. Im very confused by the negative reviews, maybe they thought this was a day spa?
Very good, been going to Ricks since, I was a kid I got my first bike there in 1972 when he was on main street .... The real main street ! Lol
Knowledgeable, helpful staff with good customer service.I needed to replace my clip ins for my road bike. So I brought the bike and shoes in to make sure I made the right decision. The staff took their time to listen to my concerns. Instead of changes the clips, they recommended changing the pedals because it would be less expensive. Unsure of whether I had the tools to remove the old pedals, they suggested that I simply return and they would do it for $5. I live less than a mile from the store, so that advice was reasonable. Turns out i did not have an allen wrench big enough to do the job. I returned soon thereafter to have the staff take care of the removal and replacement. This was done quickly. But the tech also told me that I had a bulge by the air valve. He took care of that as well, at no charge, with the suggestion to keep an eye on it. Couldnt have asked for a better experience
Been around for along time. Used to be on Main Street. Now located on Allen. Caters to all kind of riders. Very good selection of bikes . With all the personal attention you need.
Great bike store great people decent selection of items
Mitch is super helpful for service and jamie is also helpful for sales
A very unwelcoming atmosphere. Staff was unpleasant. Always have gotten a shady and unwelcoming vibe from the store.
The price caught me a bit off guard but they had what I was looking for (as its been hard to find parts for a recumbent bike) and the gentleman I spoke with was incredibly knowledgeable. I was in and out in 20 min with a new set of tires for a tadpole trike. Might be back for some other loose ends that I need.
Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Will absolutely be going back.
I haven’t been here in a few years but these 1 star reviews I’ve read (which actually tell you more about the reviewer than the actual shop) motivated me. I have bought tires, tubes, brake pads and many other parts from this shop a few times. They were always kind, helpful, and had decent prices. I don’t know why people choose to dog on small businesses for their own negligence. Go here. Don’t let the few one star reviews scare you.
Great customer service! Very knowledgeable, personable and attentive!
One of the mechanics, John, was patronizing, kept withholding and changing the repair cost, refused to take pictures for filing a damage claim. He initially said that he wouldnt be able to fix the battery configuration on my hybrid bike. I was going to have my father take a look before John did it himself -INCORRECTLY- without my approval. He charged $100 for that alone, and my father said that his configuration probably would have blown up the batteries because he did a 12V configuration on a 48V setup. I had to pay $100 for John to try to destroy my batteries, $100 for framework repairs, $90 for tax, $40 for pickup/delivery - and i didnt learn about the $90 tax or $100 electrical work until he was ready to drop it off.
This place buys and sells stolen bikes.
Everything you can think of here. Not big on mountain bike tires at the moment but that is to be expected due to economy re-opening and fashions changing. Friendly knowledgable staff, large selection and reasonable prices compared to the big chain stores.
Understandably *extremely* limited new bike inventory. They have used bike inventory, but finding a bike is like finding a needle in a haystack. They have plenty of repair techs and cashiers, but no sales people. If youre looking to get measured and matched with the perfect bike for you, this is not the place for you. Try one of the other big players in Western New York.
Great place only place in buffalo to get an se bike they were very kind and patient with me as I chose which bike I wanted
The staff is awful. It’s actually alarming how rude and calloused they are.
Great bike shop! Very knowledgeable and this is my third bike I’ve purchased from Ricks and I couldn’t be happier. Thanks guys!
Aligned my tire and handlebars and more while I was buying lights and a lock. Very nice!
Great best bike shop in the country very helpful and patient ask for dave or rick you wont leave without one new and used and I dont live in buffalo I would come clear cross country to purchase a bike from them.
This place is great. I went in with a hundred questions regarding bikes. Tom took the time and walked through each of my questions. He asked me what I was looking for, price range and brought out a few bikes for me to test ride. Got a bike i am very happy with that was on sale. Also pointed me in the right direction of a helmet, and pump. He gave me a free water bottle which was nice touch. Very good experience and I would recommend this place to anyone. This place is for bike enthusiasts and they were real blunt with customers they considered were likely to take advantage of them. But my experience was very good. Treated me well, got great service, got the bike I wanted...and found out they are a no nonsense business. I took off a star because they were so so Blunt with two other customers.
Fantastic customer service.
If youre bike gets stolen this is the best place to find it.
Helpful and attentive staff. Everything you could ever possibly need when it comes to bikes. Shop local!
Didnt get what i was looking for. i was so excited about getting a bike that i was talked into getting a mens bike the sales person toald me that it can be a girls bike too. Also the bike is way to big for me. my I have a hard time mentally making desisions and i think the sales man caught on that i was a little slow. I cant even get my legs around its scary being up so high. Im on a fixed income and spent almost everything for that month. I seen a silver girls bike that i was really wanting but the sales person toald me the other one was better. I really hope that thay will exchange or get my money back but lost thd recipt. im willing to take a hit if i can exchange bikes or get my money back.
Went in to get flat fixed. Quick personable service
Great service!
Went here to get my son properly fitted for a bike and helmet, and the woman who helped us was on point! Found exact matches for my son. I have a very happy 5 year old whos excited to learn how to ride his new bike 😁
Excellent! Pedal and tire install cost me $11. It took 5 minutes, and saved me 5 hours of sweat, grease, profanity, and aggravation. Staff were kind and knowledgeable. Will definitely visit again for repair/purchase needs.
Very knowledgeable of all forms of bikes. Helped me to get a 1971 road bike parts I needed to keep it going . 5 thumbs up.
Best bike shop ever! Can’t say enough about the skilled and competent staff. I trust my bike to them and that says it all.
Best bike shop experience Ive had in Buffalo to date. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and honest. I brought my vintage Raleigh in for a second opinion after visiting another local shop- Rick had the parts I needed on hand and at a much cheaper price than the first shop. Top notch service.
A friendly and knowledgeable staff. These guys have a combined knowledge base that runs the gamut of bike sizes and configurations and reflects their century+ existence. They have some cool custom bikes as well and are an asset to the community. I have seen them repair bikes for cash-strapped folks at no charge.
Dont purchased a used bike if you dont feel 100 percent confident it will fit. They dont give you the price you bought it for if you return it, even two weeks later. All in all, friendly staff and good service.
Dope people. Super helpful educated me a little and shud have my bike back soon. Solid spot and great jams play.
Tom and his staff are rockstars! I brought my bike in after years of not taking care of it the went through it in just 2 days and had ot ready and fixed up like new for me. I go out of my way to get the service and expertise that the Rick Cycle Shop offers.
Its nice to have a bike store where every employee is enthusiastic about cycling, and can true a wheel or make a new pedal recommendation, etc. Pricing is not far off from online retailers either; my only wish would be that they had limited Sunday hours as well.
They have it all and then some. The basement has more used bikes and random parts than youve ever seen in your life. They have been described as being a little rough around the edges, but these guys live eat sleep and breathe cycling. I love them and I love this store. Dont be put off, they are some of the most knowledgeable guys around, and they are willing to negotiate on used parts. I go here all the time, sometimes just to shoot the breeze on lunch. Come here and know that youre spending your money in a 100yo local business. They occupy a very unique niche.
One of my favorite bike shops. Got a bike there years ago and still riding well! New bikes upstairs, used/refurbished bikes down in the basement. A little pricy but completely worth the investment. They adjusted the seat for me (I’m shorter) and very kind and knowledgable staff. All the bike accessories one would need (bells, reflective lights, gloves and gear, baskets, etc). Will always recommend this local shop to anyone looking for a new ride.
Jason was fantastic and knowledgeable beyond belief
I got my Raleigh bike here! I ride the bike everyday and it has treated me well. The service can sometimes be a tad abrasive depending on who you get but the couple people who have noticed that I bought my bike there have always been very helpful when I needed something tweaked a little.
Manager tried to charge more than the quoted rate for a simple repair job and mechanic told me he does that when people come in with more expensive bikes. Mechanics were all super nice but the place could probably use more bike-friendly management versus the nickel and dime your customers that you think can afford it style of business management currently in place.
Staff are h helpful and friendly, merchandise well stocked. I always get what I need.
Rode my bike across the Peace Bridge from Canada and got a flat tire. These guys got me back on the road again fast and were super friendly and kind. Thanks a bunch for saving my day!!
Dig my bike I bought from here. Glad to have a neighborhood bike shop.
Great people, speedy service, and good selection. Hard to beat. Thanks for the recommendation, the bike looks sharp.
They are always very nice and very helpful I got my bike from them 5 years ago. I came in looking for a new one because my bike just got stolen. And they away have what Im looking for and I find the price to be fair.
Great customer service and environment .
The last time i bought a bike from here it was a yellow bike rick showed me some really cool rides i did leave withba very nice bike sad to say i dont have that bike anymore but hey they did what they were supposed to do thanks i had no problems my last vist
So helpful, came in with a flat (pierced tube) and they fixed me up within 10 minutes. Knowledgeable, inexpensive, happy.
I have been having service here for years. prompt efficient and reasonable.Decided to splurge last year and bought a used custom high end bike for about a third of its built cost. everyone speaks bike jargon in there but they took the time to match the perfect hybrid bike for my grown daughter. it is not the same buying experience you would get in walmart or berts. it is a vintage building with creaky floors and busy people fixing bikes and its great to keep it local.
I would never go anywhere else in Western New York for a bike or service. The owners are friendly and they care about setting you up with the right bike. They told my mother, We want to put you on a bike that youll never want to get off. This past weekend, we dragged the whole family into the shop and picked out a great Raleigh for my sister. Their attitude keeps us coming back and their prices are very competitve.
Friendly staff. Bad prices, not knowledgeable
Abhorrent and unprofessional behavior from the staff. Came in to get my bicycle fixed; ended up witnessing a storm of emotional belittlement from one employee to another. If I wanted to hear someone’s role as a father attacked for “talking back” to their coworker I would have just turned on Jerry Springer. Lost my business for good.
Extremely knowledgeable staff, dont forget to check out their floor of used bikes!
Great locally owned business. Great service and quick turnaround on repairs.
Ive been dragging my Damaged-Diamondback, Rough/raggedy-Raleigh, and my Busted Yukon electric bikes to this shop for a few years now and Ive been treated so well by each and every person working in this bike shop. They prep my bike for many of my bike events (5Boros, Ride4Roswell, SlowRoll, SkyRide) and Ive paid fair prices for parts and labor (under what Ive paid elsewhere in Buffalo and even in Manhattan!) When Ive come in at the last minute before closing, they were frustrated (as anyone would be) but I was treated with respect, kindness and STILL paid a low/reasonable price for the setvice and parts I received. I believe The Complaining Weasels who wrote bad reviews would even complain about the color of shirt the lifeguard is wearing who saved their life! Im truly glad for this little bike shop in my city!!!
I dont know about rude; slightly gruff. Many customers at once make you that way. Gave me a good trade in and took time to recommend a new bike.
The service from the local men who own the shop wes... so experienced, they are a good information source ! Check the used bikes out !
Reputable bike store thats been a staple of Buffalo for as long as I can remember. Friendly staff, but extremely busy when I stopped in.
This store is conveniently located on Allen St in a pretty cycling heavy area for Buffalo. They also have a good selection of lower cost bicycles for sale, but thats about it when it comes to this store. They have the various accessories you might need, such as lights, racks, pannier bags, toolsets etc. The inventory and location of this shop is where the good part ends, the staff appear bored and more interested in talking to each other than they are helping customers. When you do manage to get someones attention you get the feeling they are talking down on you for not knowing everything there is to cycling as a casual rider. If you value good service and reputation over saving a couple bucks, head down to Campus Wheelworks as some of the products sold here are not built to last, but to get you out the door.
Any kind of bike and a good knowable crew
Great service and fair prices.
Just bought a 7yr old trek that they sold to me for $415. The guy told me it was last yrs model and of course because i didnt know any better they took advantage of it. When i checked the bicycle blue book it was only $180 like new... smh. This is my third bike and last one that i will ever buy from there!!! On top of that they refused to give me a refund, mind you i took it back the day after i bought it. Berts has the same bike 2016 model for $380... but i guess thats what i get for trying to be a nice guy and help out the local shop.
Best Ever bike shop as always
Oldest and best bicycling store and shop in Buffalo.
Great people, really helpful, thorough and friendly to boot.
They told me that they would hold a bike for me for 24 hours. Then when I came early the very next day they had told me they sold the bike. Then they proceeded to tell me that they sold the bike later that day i went in the first time. They lied
They were helpful and knowledgeable..Thanks
Rude, obnoxious, cliquish bike nerds. Overpriced for such lacklustre service (disaervice?) Better experience at Campus Wheelworks by far. Avoid entirely.
This place is awesome, great selection, and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful
Great team at register
Excellent
Rude. Always talk down to you and lead conversations into a convoluted process. Have personally known at least two people have their bikes stolen only to find them for sale at ricks. Super sketch. Dont know they stay open.
They were professionals all the way and they treated me with respect
Excellent activity and information.
Hands down best bike shop in Buffalo
Salesman was wonderful.
Friendly, knowledgeable, Mitch is great!
