I have never done a review before but clearly it needed to be done. Terrible person to do business with if you’re looking to sell some product to the owner. Is very rude and flakey. Doesn’t give you any updates at all. Terrible character and personality. Don’t even waste your time. Cant respond to you in a full sentence with any context what so ever. And also never apologized

I love supporting local and hate buying on the Bay. John was able to help my wife get a Spiderman book that we could not find anywhere else. The shop is a great place to look when you have extra time because there is always great value to be found.

Insane collection of comic books!!!!!! New and old plus he has a ton more in his warehouse!!!!! Friendly owner and absolutely fell in love with his dog Roscoe!!!! Also has a ton of sports card boxes and very friendly! My wife and mother in law loved him!!!! Must stop if in the area or looking for comics to fill a collection!! Thank you

Normally don’t care to write reviews. I like to support small businesses whenever possible even if I don’t find what I wanted. Came into the store and wasn’t really greeted at all. It’s difficult to even find anything. Good thing I wasn’t really looking for comics since there doesn’t seem to be any sort of organization to what I could tell. Took a quick look at what was there for pokemon cards only to quickly realize his prices aren’t any better than the scalpers. There’s scalpers online selling booster packs for less than they have them for. Asked a question and was kind of rudely brushed off. Decided this wasn’t a place I didn’t want to do business. Later that day I went to a different comic book and trading card store. They didn’t have what I wanted, but they were friendly and had a great environment. So, I bought something I didn’t need or want from them to support them. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. Seeing things like this makes me sad. I get trading cards of any variety are hard to come by right now. But, how can you be priced worse than scalpers online.

Horrible place for TCG will never buy or return to that store ever. Extremely overpriced. Like extremely. Worse than a scalper I strongly do not reccomend, dude is a complete rip off unless your one of his comic buddies thats a constant return customer, which I dont know why you would be unless you were getting some sort of deal out of it. He doesnt even know anything about TCG. And very unorganized. Heart of the game is way better by a longshot.

Guy was very insisted on selling me skyrocketed prices for yu gi oh/Pokemon packs bad attitude, total ripoff and would not approve or reccomend for anyone unless youre looking for magic the gathering packs at good prices.

I have been going here for a long time now with my fiancé and its always so warm and welcoming. From the moment you step through the door, you begin engaging in shenanigans that’ll make you smile. So I have been in and out of ‘The Card Store’ for about 4 years now. I have to say that not one time has my experience been pleasant. The owner, who is typically the one that is behind the counter does not cater to the needs of shoppers at all. I have never, I mean not once in 4 years seen him smile. I know smiling is not a requirement to run or operate any retail front, but it would simply just be a little more of a warming atmosphere.My suggestion; STAY AWAY. I have never made any purchases over $150.00, and maybe that’s why he doesn’t have a tendency to be as inviting to me as he may be to other big spenders. I suggest trying ‘Bases Loaded’ off French rd. There is a lot more room to move around, more selection, and flat a friendlier environment. If I could give this guy no stars I would do that.

Selection of TCG products is wide and, considering this current market, in very good supply. That said the prices are extremely high. Comparable to what you will find with something like Facebook Marketplace scalpers. Who know, maybe these aren’t purchased through a distributor and the owners costs are high.That said my experience was not one that earned a returning customer. The pandemic will end. Our collectible hobby’s will ebb and flow and ultimately supply will increase and prices will adjust accordingly. It’s disheartening to see a local store attempt to squeeze every penny out of supplies and collectibles. It certainly didn’t give me the confidence that this is the go-to place in the coming months and years for regular purchases.My brief interaction with the owner was a bit off-putting. This isn’t a buyers market by any means but it just felt like I had to put the effort into finding what I needed just so I could shell out a above MSRP value at the end of the day.All that said, the store is clean and organized albeit very small. You will likely find what you need but I’d confidently say it’ll cost more than you’ll pay locally or online. If you want something immediately and will pay a premium it works. If your willing to shop around or wait a few days for delivery your better off elsewhere.

Not only has John (Jon? Sorry my good man) always been a stand up guy, but tonight he caught me in my car to give my boys 2 posters of Pikachu and deck boxes for the newly arrive pokemon cards. Always has been a fixture in the community and a great personable experience is always sure to happen. Thank you!

Pros: Local buisness for cards so you need to support them.Cons: scalper prices 200-500% over market.Its not their fault, but its still messed up.

When I went there, there were almost no measures being taken in regards to the current pandemic. The guy behind the counter and about half the customers were not wearing masks, and there was not enough space for social distancing to even be realistic.I went for magic the gathering cards and prices of many sealed products were not marked which is alright because I know the prices can fluctuate and the guy behind the counter seemed pretty irritated with me asking questions, but he could just be a person that always seems irritated, prices for things I was familiar with were higher than another card shop I eventually took my business to over in Amherst, I would say they were around the mid price of things online so not a rip off but not a bargain.Over all I would not recommend the shop, although they did appear to have a lot of comics, so maybe it is a much better shop for a comic fan than a magic the gathering fan.

The most inflated prices you’ll find, no one wears a mask, super condescending and rude dude behind the counter. don’t waste your time, go to Gather & Game

Pretty alright comic book and card game and/or collectibles store, a hidden gem at times. Would give five stars, but too much business for the square footage of the store. Sometimes left waiting cramped for a while.

This shop was locked and closed during their open hours. There were at least 8 cars of people waiting to get into the shop but there was no indication on why the shop was locked and closed.

This was my favorite place to get cards he had great prices over 6 months ago now everything is overpriced he sells things at the price of a scalper I won’t purchase from him until the prices go back down it’s unbelievable how much he wants for things when you can buy them for way cheaper online or somewhere else

Waitedan hour for the guy to flip the open sign on and not unlock the door. Waited another 15 and called to get no answer. Also the outside of the building smelled like burning plastic.

The store, a reflection of the owner, John, is a really fantastic treasure trove. It appears there is quite a bit (a ton?) of product for those playing TCGs as well as sports cards, but my interest is the collection of comics, graphic novels, and figures. Whether you’re looking for something in particular, want a recommendation, or are shopping for others, be sure to talk with John and mine his experience. Frankly, walking into the store is like entering Mary Poppins bag: there is an impossible amount of goodies packed into the cozy space.

Frustrating local business to buy from.Third unsuccessful visit this February.All 3 during posted business hours.Lights on each time.Doors locked each time.Knocked for a few minutes each attempt.Called the number on the door the last two visits. Never an answer. Forwarded to voice mail.I just want to buy some cards from someplace other than Dave and Adams.Looks like a card shop. Advertised as a card shop. Sign says card shop. But cant get in the door.

Store is price scalping on Pokemon cards. They are charging anywhere between 50-150% mark up on products just because its difficult to find Pokemon cards currently. Will not shop there again and I advise others to do the same.

Been to a ton of shops local and out of state . From the second I walked in the door the owner(not an employee) was super helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are unbeatable and owner was a nice guy . I live down the street from Dave and Adams but Id much rather travel the extra 20 minutes to come here.

Not open during posted hours and didnt answer the phone! We went to get my nephew a birthday present today. The hours say open 11a-7p. We were there at 11:10am, the door was locked, I knocked and no answer, I called...no answer. Guess he doesnt want the business if he cant be bothered to be on time and open during his posted hours. I try to support small businesses in there area, but I expect them to be open when they say they will.

TLDR: Owner is rude and demeans his customers. I should have read Google reviews first to see how unprofessional he is.Bought a comic from this store on EBay. When it arrived, I opened the package and John included the wrong book. No, biggie, right? I opened a return and that’s when things got ugly. John accused me of lying about which book I received even after I sent him pictures of the book and the packaging. He continued to berate me through messages about how I was lying. The comic I ordered was a $3 issue, not rare, not particularly sought after...I had no reason to lie or scam at all. I even sent him my purchase history to show that I bought the same issue after we started this whole process and figured out I wasn’t going to get the issue I ordered from John. I won’t be back and I would definitely recommend avoiding this shop if you have other options...

Unfortunately I live 90 minutes away and only get in there a few times a year but, he always recognizes me and is friendly and helpful. Good prices and well stock whether you are looking for packs of sport cards, collectible card games, comics (new and back issues), and/or supplies. Definitely recommended.

Recently in an attempt to buy my statues from a stone and mortal store I discovered this place. I have only been going there for the past 4 weeks and received great service every time. Ill continue to frequent the shop, besides having my statues they have comics and cards for games of all types like Magic the Gathering.

What sort of a comic book store doesn’t know what books they have....This guys demeanor is a joke when it comes to customer service as well and spends a majority of his time running his mouth about his peers. Gave this store a second chance and it’s legitimately the same outcome. There’s so many better comic book stores to go to than to waste your time with this fool. Oh, and it’s overpriced. Deals he speaks of are not deals...

Ive been coming to this store for a number of years now. Between the comics and card selection The Card Store always has what I am looking for. The prices for Magic The Gathering cards are some of the best around town and easily beat online retailers like Star City Games. Owner is always friendly and capable of answering your questions.
