Amazing customer service, affordable prices. Wonderful humans
Great place to deal with. Very accommodating and service oriented.
Disclaimer - this is a story, just skip to the end for the review. After playing shows largely with a synth and triggering samples, I decided I needed to get the ball rolling on re-orienting myself to the guitar. Specifically learning to play melodies that were always meant for live guitar, on my yamaha acoustic electric - instead of triggering its MIDI version on a sample pad. Those samples were initially intended as placeholders while composing a song on Ableton, but unfortunately they managed to become part of the live set itself. The problem was that my guitar had been sitting on its stand since 2018. It had visibly collected quite a bit of dust, and looked especially sad with the addition of a broken string. And, to this day I dont know how to restring them.Nor had I any idea where its case was. Regardless, those melodies sounded flat in their midi version and the time had come to learn and practice them on the guitar. I grabbed my phone, keys, the sad guitar, hopped in my vehicle and headed straight to Allentown Music on Amherst.I dropped by the store previously here and there, for various gadgets and cable components but had no idea whether they offered such a service, restringing guitars. To my relief, when I got there they confirmed they did. After jotting down my string preferences and my number, the store personnel took the guitar in their hands. Just a few hours later I received a voicemail indicating the guitar was ready to be picked up..The next afternoon I went back to take it home. When it was brought out of the back room I noticed that not only was it restrung, but seriously reconditioned. The body was practically beaming. And so was I.Joe and the crew certainly surpassed any expectations I had. Altogether, the experience left me with the rare impression that this place is not just your run-of-the-mill music retail outlet, rather, Allentown Music is devoted to setting you up for success in the arena of live performance. Highly recommend.
Rented my sons violin from here and staff was awesome. They tested everything out before renting it to us. Great customer service and we will be back.
Just returned my daughter’s rental instrument. I know many other parents who rent from here. We all had a great experience this year. The price was competitive for rentals and the guys in the shop are always really cool to deal with. Thank you, Joe!
Favorite music shop in the city! Great staff, stop here at least once or twice a month for everything from chords to equipment. Cannot recommend them enough!
This place is amazing! My very musical husband has been wanting to learn all kinds of new instruments to jam with friends, but having access to instruments on a budget can be tough. Allentown Music has always come through for us over the past couple years, first with an electric guitar, then a bass, and now a complete drum kit. The secondhand selection is amazing and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful and have always worked within our price range. Love them and would recommend to anyone!!
I love going into a music shop and seeing someone repairing instruments. The selection is widely varied and very reasonably priced from new and used instruments. I really like going to Allentown Music!
Owner is a awesome person.. knows about music and instruments... Affordable prices. Great service always.
I cant say enough about this music store these guys are great they really look after musicians. A rare breed of Music store that takes care of people.
Dude broke his glass and made us feel terrible and refused to buy are stuff because of his mistake
Really nice music shop!👍👍
Awesome store with kind, knowledgeable employees
My daughter got her first violin here and she just got a short scale bass guitar, and I needed a new Cello bow. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable, there is always someone in there jamming on an instrument its a fun neighborhood music store that treats people right.
Reason #1 How many locally own music store are left. #2. They provide top notch service and know what their talking about. #3 Joe the owner is a honest and very cool guy.

Love Allentown music, best owner ever!
Great customer service
My favorite Buffalo Music Shop.Great selection of new and used gear and accessories. The shop owner, Joe always has a smile and is very helpful.
Excellent music store Ive been a shopper there for years very knowledgeable about guitars and other instruments owner is a great guy 👌🏿💯
Friendly and well stocked!
I love this place. You can find quality in just about any price range, the owner (owners? Im not sure these days) is/are hugely helpful and welcoming; they really take the time to make sure youre happy with what you buy, you have everything you need, and youre making an informed choice of price VS quality. I rarely give 5 stars, it takes an extraordinary experience but Im on the fence with it, could upgrade that rating over time with consistency (not because of inconsistency on their part, but for not enough times patronizing the shop yet).
Every kind of affordable instrument you can imagine. I got a great used P-Bass clone for less than a hundred bucks. These guys will hook you up!
Very friendly and courteous service. Ive been going to Allentown music with my brother for years and theyve always made us feel welcome. You want a good guitar at a low price Allentown music is the place to go!
I used to come to Allentown Music when it was still on Elmwood. I think the main guy there is Joe and he is always helpful. Whether you are buying or selling. Never really an issue!!! Very up on his stuff and they even offer lessons as well?!? The new location has a lot more room than the Elmwood and the accessibility is even better. Overall a good shop to come and check out some gear. Fair pricing and you may even make a new friend or two while in there. Easily recommendable place for someone new to the scene...
Nice owner and a good staff(a young kid that actually knows what hes talking about!). Good selection of working condition used instruments only adds to the great experience.
Talented and informative help. Great prices, and rentals available as well.
Allentown music is the last remaining True music store in buffalo. There is of course guitar hells in our area. But Allentown music is the small town store that will treat you right with cool instruments and excellent service

Huge selection of used gear especially guitars and amps. Helpful staff and good deals as far as I could see. They also have a descent selection of assorted music equiptment if you are looking for something a bit out of the ordinary.
Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Well stocked local music store. Open 7 days. Wide range of instruments and accessories, specializing in electric and acoustic stringed instruments.
Nice collection of new and used gear, including unusual stuff not generally found in small shops. Friendly; fair prices. Note that theyre no longer in Allentown-- theyve moved north to Amherst St near Wegmans.
Allentown Music is my go-to for string changes. They are also certified retailers of a shitload of products; seriously comprehensive and helpful people. The guys there are totally okay with college students just heading there to jam which is a plus.
I met Joe when I first moved out here from California 14 years ago. He is a dedicated professional that supports the local music scene. He has helped me in finding work as a sound engineer and electronics tech. My go to guy for music gear! A pleasure to do business with. So stop in and check it out.
Great local shop with a surprising amount of stock crammed into a small space. Fair pricing and friendly staff.
I was very pleased with Allentown Musics timely and affordable fix of my flutes. It only took a week for the repairs. And, they seem to currently have the best prices in the Buffalo area for flute repairs, as far as I could find.

Excellent survise friendly people its a cool place to be
When I saw Joe finally ditched that run down, rotting guitar graveyard in front of his store and moved Allentown Music uptown to a nicer neighborhood near Wegmans on Amherst, I came all the way from William & Union intending to buy a very specific item.Entering, I saw one guy behind the counter and explained exactly what I wanted. He went in the back and returned with something else. When Mr. Helpful started into The best Ive got is... as if I could be talked into buying 2nd rate BS, I stopped him cold with, Will you let me order it? Then the nice boy said, Joe does the ordering. Well, Joe must not want his employees able to close sales. When he said Joe would be in tomorrow, I left my number and told Mr. Helpful to have him call me and left.I used to buy a few things there so I give it TWO STARS but thats NO WAY to run a business.UPDATE: The next day Joe finally called well after 4:00 PM sounding like he wasnt sure if it was in stock... but he was sure he could order it if I came in on the right day. (WTF, dude!) By then I had already bought it online for $118.54 with Free Shipping straight to my door. I refuse to waste another minute playing stupid games with a control freak who wont let his salesman place orders or cant even say whats in stock because he lacks the Business Sense 101 to organize his damn inventory. You can take the slob out of the ghetto but you cant take the ghetto out of the slob.In the immortal words of Patty Smyth, ♫ Good-bye To You ♫
Recommended. Ive always had a good customer experience here.
Sold some equipment, bought some. A M is a community treasure!
I always get a feeling of chaos whenever I enter this place. However, the staff and friendly and helpful and they generally will have everything for your musical needs.
A wonderful experience with knowledgeable staff. Whether you want a new or used instrument, a repair or are seeking accessories.
The selection of accessories is good and the prices for strings and things are in line with other places, charged me $12.00 to restring a 12 string, plus the cost of the strings, did it while I waited which was a plus. Thats a good price. Happened to notice a lot of cheap gear (Squier, Epi, etc) that seemed priced a bit high compared to other music stores. Bought a Seagull that had the bridge lifting up on it, and was told that the repair was Too costly and complicated Took it over to Vince at Music City, and he did the repair and a new set of strings for $125.00.
People are incredibly helpful, and are all knowledgeable
Great store, great service. Essential place.
If you buy here you wont beable to return when broken... Bunch of bullshit... I drove two hours for there half ass amp
This is a throw back to the good old Mom and Pop music store, with great knowledgable quality service. Not lip service like at guitar center
