Worst online Hockey store EVER. Avoid GreatSkate and Keith at all costs. Their database shows tons of sticks that arent in inventory (and havent been for weeks). Like other reviews, I ordered a large stick, but they shipped me a smaller sized stick (Flex). When I tried to show Keith that their website was incorrectly showing 40 flex sticks even though it was filtered for 85+ flex. He said was not GreatSkates issue, but that it was user error. Totally dismissive despite proving that the website is flawed. He refused to credit my purchase, and refused to take any responsibility, or offer any discount for the shipping error. So Ive paid shipping (3) times now for the same item. Do not buy from this company. Youve been warned.

Got my first pair of skates here in 1976. First time back, bring my son who now plays. Still a great shop! Wish they had one in Virginia!
5 days ago walked in the store 20 minutes before closing and bought 500 dollars worth of gear including a 300 dollar stick. After using the stick twice it broke and when I brought to the store they claimed they could do nothing about it and I’d have to go through Bauer. When I went to the Bauer website the first thing it asked me was if I was a retailer. You’d think after buying something at such a high price the store would have the curtesy to replace my stick and return the broken one through Bauer themselves. After my family shopped at this store for over 15 years I believe this will be my last. It is a much better option to go down the street to Pure Hockey where they not only have a greater selection on not only sticks but also gear, on top of this if your stick breaks within 30 days at Pure Hockey and you bring it in with the receipt they allow you to take a new one off the shelf while they go through the return process to Bauer. Hands down one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had after my family as well as myself giving them our business and money for years.
The staff was very helpful and didnt push me toward higher priced gear that c wasnt needed for the leagues in playing in. Tent sale going on now till Sunday. No actual Tent, but good deals.
My son and I went to the other place down the street to buy a new helmet to replace the one they sold us at the beginning of the hockey season. After 15 minutes of employees avoiding looking in our direction, we decided to head here .We were greeted when we walked through the door. I showed them the old helmet and explained what we needed. After the owner asking a couple questions, we were ushered right over and explained the differences with every helmet on the shelf and given his recommendation. He made my 7 year old feel comfortable, made sure it fit properly and will be big enough to grow into. They even changed out the cage from the old to the new without asking, just to save us the trouble. Im done with poor customer service down the road, Great Skate has our business for as long as were a hockey family
Amazing service and selection!!! Wish I would have got his name but employee went above and beyond for us! My son had a game at Northtown Center and realized he didnt have his shoulder pads in his bag. I called Great Skate at 6:52 asking what time they close because my kid has a game and doesnt have his shoulder pads. They told me dont worry they will stay open so I can get him shoulder pads and stressed not to rush they wont close. Got there and the employee was already over at the shoulder pads trying to find something that would fit my son. He got me in and out quickly. My son had what he needed before the game started. Cannot thank them enough!!! Will continue to bring all our business here!

Horrible customer service, bought a goalie stick online. Charged me for 1-3 day shipping. Stick never arrived, Customer service calls me and said they appologize and they paid shipping to get stick to me. 5 days later, still no stick. I call them and tell them I want my money back, they say when stick comes send it back. So basically Ill have to pay additional shipping to send a stick back. I was forced to buy a stick locally because theirs didnt arrive. I will never order from there again, and thanks to social media my 1400 + hockey connections most likely wont either. Its 2 weeks and still no stick. Your place is in NY and Im.in Delaware..I could have driven there and back in a day.

Came in to buy the CCM Super Tack Pros and spend over 1000 on new skates and asked if they had a military discount. Was told theyd help me on the price and told me to come in. When I got there they looked at me like I was clueless...

Was out here from Rochester for my daughters hockey game and stopped in to check it out. Customer service was awesom . Found a pair of skates for my daughter I had been looking for awhile for about $40 less then I had seen it elsewhere. Considered buying a bag because the price was awesome too but already have more then I need. Check it out.Also have a little shooting rink in there my daughters loved.

Went to the tent sale. Looked like a garage sale! Wonder how long this place can keep it going? We ended up going down the street and found better stuff with cheaper prices. Their motto of best prices guaranteed is not the case. Be careful of the jargon this place uses to suck you in, you will be disappointed when you get there.
Horrible experience, customer service not at all! My 9 year old said to me when we walked out, I like Pure Hockey better, they kept walking away from us. Says to shop local on the sign. Well not anymore! We tried, to bad they didnt.
Keith is hands down the greatest human being that has ever walked this earth. I’m a referee and I had to replace the visor in my helmet but realized after taking it off my bucket was broken. I was running 5 mins before close and called to see if they could stay open for 5 more mins because I have games today. Well Keith stayed and got me a new helmet. Also remembered me for being a loyal customer. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE! This is why I shop there
Great store with very good selection. Loved the fact the sales people just left me alone to browse while I made up my mind. After showing interest in a piece of equipment the sales staff where very helpful in choosing the best model for my play level. The prices here where very comparable to prices I would pay in Canada and some even cheaper if you take in consideration the exchange rate. Will always check this place out when I travel to the U.S.

This place was recommended to me by others, so I figured Id give it a try for some equipment I needed. As I walked in, I was asked if I needed help with anything. I explained that I needed a helmet. The salesman showed me a Bauer helmet that came with a cage. He then showed me a Reebok helmet without one. When I asked if it was possible to get a cage for it and what was the price, he went to the racks and found one. He then bluntly asked, So do you want to go with this one? I replied that the Bauer package was a better deal, so Id likely buy that one. The salesman then sulked and walked away, leaving me by myself!I also needed shoulder pads, so I then wandered over there. I had to hunt down a different salesman that was playing with a stick... The first salesman had disappeared. I asked him what he recommended for shoulder pads, and he gave me a quick answer. Once again, the guy just walked away... And went back to playing with a hockey stick.Horrible customer service. Neither of the salesmen had any interest in me or my needs. They gave quick answers and walked away without helping me make a selection. The prices are about average... Nothing special. I will likely find somewhere else to buy my equipment.
Excellent service. Even when coming in for an entry recreational level set of hockey skates. The staff took their time to make sure the skates fit perfectly so that I would leave a happy customer. The staff also did suggest that I consider buying some skate protectors (not a bad idea), but didnt push it. I bought them as I was going to ask about that anyways, The staff didnt try to up sell to some expensive skate for my purely recreational use not did they try to sell me any kinds of useless accessories. Over-all it was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend this store to anyone looking for skates

Just stopped in yesterday to pick up a pair of pants for my 12 year old son. Hes very tall and skinny for his age, which makes finding the right pair of pants somewhat of a challenge. Within a few minutes of entry to the store, a nice kid greeted me and helped us try on several different brands until we had the right fit. He skated last night in them and hes very happy.
Probably the best shopping experience for hockey equipment ive ever had. The staff is very knowledgeable and courteous. I went in looking for new skates and the staff asked me how much I play, what type of games Im playing in etc. and Mike guided me toward a skate that was much much less than what I had expected to spend. I went in thinking Id have to spend a fortune on new skates and was pleasantly surprised to get a great skate, Bauer Vapor X4.0, for much less than I thought. Seriously, these guys are great and their website is excellent as well.Keep up the good work fellas.
I was born and raised in Florida and had no idea what I was looking for when shopping for my husband, the 2 guys that helped me were very nice and very helpful. I have them my price range and said they had to be perfect. After I got them I came home and surprised my husband and he LOVES them!!!
Terrible customer service. They could have saved me 2.5 hrs last weekend simply by telling me that there was a place 10 seconds up the road called Pure Hockey that might be able to fix my sons skate. Instead I drove back and forth across town until someone from Dicks sporting goods asked me if Id been to Pure Hockey. I would have gone into great skate to mention this to them had I not been running late for my sons second game.I would try Pure Hockey first, great guys and I was asked at least three times by different people if I was looked after or could they help me with anything else.
After a terrible experience at Pure Hockey & ComLax we came here to get my son some equipment. Everyone was super nice and helpful. They helped with all of our needs for our son who is 4 and just starting off with Hockey. We were in and out and there prices were very reasonable. I will be back!
Throughout my life I have gone to Great Skate for all my hockey needs and have always walked away extremely satisfied. The staff always provided exceptional service and superior knowledge of the products which ensured the equipment I was buying fit perfectly. Bought a chest protector online from them, first off the info they posted on the was of the pro model, the chest protector that arrived was the senior model, second they’re “price guarantee” is a joke, found the same chest procteot for 50 bucks cheaper, when I called to inquire about a price change was told that because the one I bought was outlet that they couldn’t match the price..... the guy I talked to was polite but there policies and there advertising is terrible don’t buy online from them.

The employees here are so rude. I called 3 times to ask for pricing the wouldnt give me any information over the phone as I was driving from 3 hrs away. They were very condescending over the phone. I went to there so called sale that they were having and found the exact same prices everyday down the street at Pure Hockey. The staff there was so much more polite and actually gave me the correct information as I was buying skates for my boyfriend. Their motto at this place is dont trust the competition. I would trust the competition more than I would trust these guys. They lie about prices, push you into product they want to sell, and are very rude. For a better experience if you dont want a run around try another place.

I got nailed double the price of a skate sharpening for some reason. No explanation, just a gruff, Let me see those ... thats going to be $14. I didnt know the base rate was $7 until I got home and looked at the web site. Yeah, I am an occasional skater and my skates arent the newest, but service like this sure doesnt encourage a return visit for either a sharpening or to shop for a new pair.
I bought two pairs of High end skates, one goalie and one forward. The manager greeted me at the door and asked what he could help with. He called over two different sales guys, who took each of my boys to the right areas. The sales guys new the answers to all the questions that I had regarding both styles of skates. They were knowedgeable and curtious and asked my boys questions about what they wanted in the skates.
Generally, the kids they have working there dont have a whole lot of interest in servicing you, the customer. Usually, they seem more interested in shooting some pucks in the stick-test area or watching whats on the tv. Great products, no complaints there. Prices, meh.Buffalo could use some competition. Its too bad Reids isnt still around.
Waited on Black Friday for two hours for place to open. Was advertised as “$50 gift card” turns out it was just “50 off of 100”. Owner or manager or whatever is a pompous jerk.

Ordered a a pair of Bauer gloves from their website. Christmas present for my son, they were the new 17 bauer supreme for $59.99. What we received were the 15 bauer supreme for $29.99. Called them up and said we got the wrong glove, I was then told oh no, these were the ones bauer sent us the are the 17s! Ummm no because my son has this pair and we bought them 2 years ago! So called back the next day and he remembered me, yep I will send you out a call tag and as soon as we get the product back I will go ahead and reimburse you. I said how about reimbursing me $30.00 right now because you sent me the wrong product. No I cant do that, not until we receive the gloves back, then I will reimburse you the $59.99. So I am out $60 and still have to get my son a new pair of gloves for Christmas! Horrible customer service! The thing is they knew they sent me out the wrong product and overcharged me! Sent gloves back still waiting for refund.
0 Star rating.In 55 yrs of life and 43 of playing hockey, I have *never* * ever * been treated with such disrespect, disdain and condescendingly patronizing attitudes by so many in one place. The managers simply do not care about the customer, the young staff has no role model to do anything but mirror horrible management and while the young man that finally served me was nice enough, he had no idea about any of the equipment i was asking questions about or where to find what I needed. Dont even think about getting skates there, the skate manager said they couldnt get replacement blades for my custom fit CCM skates and after being asked to order them said they were too old to order for. He also told me no one does custom skate fitting !!! Hey just call me a liar to my face Ill shop there again !You want your gear it now?? go to Dicks or shop in Canada at Front Row where they will trip over each other trying to get you exactly what you want and if they dont have it, get it shipped in from another store. Women need not shop at great skate, they dont want our business and will look right past you for a boyfriend or husband. 9 one star ratings ???? Only because we have to put in something.According to my teammates, This has not changed in 6 years. For shame.

No one there has played hockey a day in their life. Just a bunch of old people who look like they were laid off from Macys.Do not get your skates sharpened here!!! These people dont know have a clue. If there was an option to give 0 stars, I would. I have had nothing but issues with this store for the past 7 years. Lets start with the current issue. Sadly, I was given a gift card to this store. I have been stopping in and calling looking for stick pattern for the past months and they never have any patterns in stock. They are not efficient at managing their inventory. Today I ask for suggestions on what can be done i.e.. other stick recommendations of perhaps a custom order. No solutions where brought to the table. When I asked if I could return the gift card, to go buy a stick at a different store, the answer was no. There was no sense of care or awareness of customer satisfaction. There are several other stores in the area now and I have always stuck with Great skate. I am extremely dissapointed with their customer service as of late, and I strongly recomend Hockey Giant or Pure Hockey.
