Met Alan a couple of years ago, when my daughter needed to buy a bike for college, and discovered Alan had a new Raleigh jk subra for sale. We met Alan and bought the bike and he gave us honest tips about our other bikes. Since then have brought two specialized bikes for tune ups and realize how reasonable and how efficient he was. Have been going there since for all sorts of minor stuff. He has a pleasant attitude as well!

A few weeks ago, the bike broke again -- in worse condition that is not fixable. We decided to get another bike. Riding is smooth and the weight is lighter than the old one. Called Alan to get a quote on getting a chain and cassette replacement for my hybrid bike. He gave me a quote, told me he might already have the cassette and to bring it in. I brought it in a few days later, and luckily he already had the cassette so he told me to come back the next day to pick it up. He replaced the chain and cassette, and also made a brake adjustment to get rid of the weird sound it was making. Nice guy, will definitely come back here again for future service!

I brought my bike in to replace its pedals, and one of them was completely stuck. Alan ended up using a huge lever to get it off for me. I also bought a front skewer from him, and he gave me a good price. I went to his shop to buy my first mountain bike to get into trail riding and I was so happy! His used bikes are well maintained and I assume he double checks all of them himself. I have been to visit Alan a few times now and I have had a great experience every single time. The first time, my roommate and I stopped by to purchase a bicycle and I was able to purchase a secondhand Janis Citizen from Alan. It was in great condition with good quality parts and had just been tuned up and he sold it to us for a very affordable price. Ive been riding it to work every weekday since then and I couldnt be happier with my purchase. Alan is a really good guy and one day when my bike got a flat, I brought it to him after work and he fixed it up for free. The most recent visit I made to his shop was to get a rear bike rack and commuter trunk installed on my bike. He helped me order the supplies and installed the rack on my bike in less than an hour - he does a great job with his work and is a very helpful, friendly and upstanding person. I took the bike in because both me and the staff at Summit Bicycles couldnt adjust the handle bar height. Alan immediately identified the locking mechanism and was able to loosen the necessary screws and adjust the handle bar position. All took 3 minutes. Overall Alan seems very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Will definitely take my bike back here if it needs tuning or fixing.

Alan is great! I came in wanting a used bike for commuting, and I left with a used bike for commuting! He set me up with a nice bike, swapped out a better seat for me, threw on a new set of pedals, and let me have a ride around first to make sure it was what I wanted. Really nice guy to talk to, and extremely reasonable pricing too. Haven’t had any problems with the bike despite some heavy uphill/downhill riding, but if I do, I feel totally comfortable going back to him with anything to be fixed. He gave me an honest assessment of an old hand-me-down road bike, determined that it was worth keeping, and then gave me a very reasonable estimate on the spot for a tune up. What was most impressive is that he then turned around the tune up ahead of schedule and at less than the estimated cost! I’ve never seen a mechanic do that. I have bought several used bikes from this gentleman and I must say he never disappoints. His prices are very reasonable and he is not a pushy type. You are in a comfortable no frills environment that has an area that you can test ride the bikes. He even does work on bikes for a reasonable price and has done a quick turn around when other bike shops wanted way more $$$ and to have the bike in their shop for a lot longer. He carries everything from cheap basic bikes to some pretty decent models. Highly recommend.

I took my kids here to buy used bikes. Alan is the most helpful kind person! He let my kids try numerous bikes before they settled on what they wanted. His prices were very fair. He told us if we had any issues we should come back and he would take care of it. Well, the only issue we had was my son derailing his chain because he didn’t know how to properly switch gears. He got things out of alignment and we needed some help. I took the bike back to Alan and he got the bike going again. He didn’t charge us even though it was our fault. He showed my son how to switch gears and off we went. I highly recommend this shop.

I won an unassembled bike in a raffle at work and brought it to Alan out of the blue without calling. He was very accommodating, took my info and called me early the next day letting me know it was ready.I haven’t ridden a bike in 15 years and after a couple days I slipped the chain off the front sprocket running through the gears. Brought it right back to Alan and had him adjust a few other things and I was out of the door in 5 minutes. Terrific experience ~ I dropped my bike off and Alan texted me an estimate after he assessed what it needed. We agreed on the work and price and he texted me again when it was ready. I had another bike I havent ridden in a long time so I texted him a picture of it and asked if he would like to buy it; we ended up taking some money off the cost of my repair as a trade, which was great ~ saved me some money, cleared up some space in my garage, he now has a bike he can fix up and sell and I have a bike that works well again.
