Honestly, the selection in the store is pretty good, better than some in the area. The prices are significantly higher than most though, I would only shop here in a pinch. My biggest problem is that the owner is rude, and lies to make sales. He lies about companies going out of business, product shortages (this was before 2020), and discontinuations. Its unethical, and I dont want to support a business who does that.Ive also noticed he heavily shames customers who dont agree with him on products, not only with me, but with others as well. I havent had a single experience in that store where I didnt leave without him telling me Oh, well this is better. or Well, my professional friends wont use anything else., or something similar to push another brand. I dont stand by a one-size-fits-all approach to art supplies, as each supply, and each artist is different. Also, I use professional supplies, I have for many years. I know what I like, and why I like it. Ive used the products he pushes so heavily, and I know why I dont like them, so I really dont appreciate him stopping just short of calling me an idiot for having a preference that isnt the same as his (although, lets be honest, hes probably pushing his highest profit margin).Lastly, I did a return there once after realizing I had purchased a tube of paint that had completely hardened. I emailed him first to see if I could exchange, but he was phasing out that item and didnt have any left, which is fine. He didnt have anything similar, so I asked to return it, and he agreed. Well, he made the whole thing difficult once I got there, and when I finally got him to just give me a refund he just charged me again. When he did this, he conveniently forgot how to print a receipt for the transaction, so I didnt have anything to prove he had in fact charged me again. Its worth noting that the printer worked for the person before me. Luckily, I have a bank app and could see it immediately that I was charged instead of refunded. At this point he said he didnt have a calculator to double the amount, so he almost under refunded my purchases. I got my refund, and the printer magically worked that time.I just find him to be an odious person and business owner, so I personally choose not to shop there. You can find other art stores in the area that are just as good, and the owners/employees are much more lovely to interact with.

Really wonderful service. It is small shop but is surprisingly well stocked. It is THE best place for fine art supplies in Chittenden County. The staff is friendly and simply stellar. I love having an excuse to go in there!

Although the supply is fantastic and the owners are friendly I have to give 3 stars because they barely wear their masks. As a service worker I wear one for 7+ hours a day and I find it really insulting they cant do the same in such a small space.

Since March 16 I made my order (1 watercolor palette) they sent me an email requesting 2 addresses to make the shipment, I am still waiting for the invoice, I also wait for the indication that my order has been sent and this does not happen yet, I am annoying. I expect a quick response or I will denounce the store and its owner, I can proceed legally if it does not offer a quick clarification this week.

Very Friendly, knowledgeable, and interested in helping me find what I need, and just as importantly, letting me know what I dont really need. I learn every time I go there. The quality of the supplies, materials, and tools here is fantastic. Ive come here for years, and they have earned my loyalty at every visit.

The owner John is personable and genuinely cares in supporting local emerging artists like myself. I value his expertise when i’m making installation/design decisions..and that level of customer service can’t be quantified in a monetary sense.

Im not a professional artist ordering items in bulk, some folks seem to be having trouble with that. But my experience as a novice hobbyist was terrific. The gentleman at the counter was friendly, inviting, and very helpful. Ill be heading back this week.

Second postIts now been 9 days since my purchase. The payment came out of my bank account but my products are still on hold and I havent gotten an update via email (which has another company name, Black Horse Art Enterprise) or even a return phone call. I call nearly every day and no one answers or calls me back. I am going to have to contest the charges. I just wish someone would let me know whats going on.First postI ordered some paints and got an email stating that my order is on hold. Im wondering what that means and when I might expect them to ship. They have after all already processed my payment, pending. I called the 800 number which doesnt work and then called the local number and left a voice message which hasnt been returned . I called again today and each time I call the message says all circuits are busy. I cant even find an email to contact on the website. Whats going on?

I had the same exact experience as Kathryn did. My credit card was charged but never got any email response about my order. I tried calling several times but no one answers and also emailed twice asking when my brushes would be sent. If i dont hear from them in a week i too will be doing a credit card dispute. So frustrating!

Well I was super excited about trying them out as a new supplier for my gouache paints. Their prices were a littlw cheaper even than jerrys and dickblick (where i usually buy my gouache). My order from April 25th was originally lost in their system and I had to email questioning my order confirmation. John emailed me back fairly promptly and assured me the order would go out the following Monday. However my order arrived and their were some items on backorder. Fine, no big deal. Well it is now June 8th and 2 emails, a facebook message and 4 voicemails later I am still sitting here wondering about my items on back order. No one has returned my calls or emails and I am quite frusterated at this point As an artist I buy a lot of art supplies and I am not sure I can trust this companys customer service.

I placed an order in April which has still not been fulfilled, though the payment has gone through. Calls go unanswered and messages unreturned. I would like to support a local business like this, but their unprofessional approach to customer service makes that difficult. I suggest finding an alternative supplier.
