I made the mistake of having all the digital photos and videos Ive ever taken on an external hard drive with no additional backup.The drive was only around 4 years old and was only used for storage. One day the drive stopped working. I couldnt put anything new onto it. I couldnt take anything off of it.I contacted several different IT and/or computer repair companies. Not one of them would touch the drive. Each and every company told me I would have to send it off to be rebuilt and would cost me between $1000 and $1500. They all said that I may have lost the contents of the drive forever.All my childrens photos were on the drive. 19 years worth, so I knew Id eventually have to try it.Then I met Charlie from the Computer Department of Burlington at a networking event. I explained the situation. I told him what kind of drive it was and what happened. He was the ONLY person to say, Bring it in and let me have a look.I brought it in to Charlie the next day. Two days later I had 235GB worth of content (everything) restored from the old drive and placed onto a new external hard drive. I can not say thank you enough for what the folks (especially Charlie) at the Computer Department did for me. The whole thing cost me $235 and thats including the new drive.And yes, for any one whos curious, Ive gotten a cloud based solution now as well.

Charlie and Peter were both very Professional and Knowledgeable and knew what I needed to get me back up and running. Very reasonable with pricing and exceeded my time line expectations. Took in a Gateway laptop that would not boot up that was bought in 2000. Their recommendation was what was needed to move forward. I would refer this organization to anyone with computer issues.

There staff is very friendly. You can walk in. They had to order parts they did have shipping issues but they checked were the parts were and reassured me after the parts arrived service is quick if I need more help I will be back

After hearing the ridiculous price point for diagnostics alone at Best Buy, I quickly googled alternative places to get my laptop fixed and get a new battery replacement. I found this location and after reading the great reviews I decided to leave my laptop in their hands. My Dell laptop is around 5 years old, and had been incredibly slow for the past year. The audio and any videos were lagging really bad. I got it back today (they were really responsive and professional the whole time) and It works like new again! To think I was going to pay even more for a new laptop and of lesser quality than mine.

Great local team of guys here. Have been going to them for 5 years and always have had a good experience. Theyve fixed my phone at least 3 times and almost always get my computer back super fast. Only one time was there an issue getting parts, but they were able to source the part from a different place. I had to wait a little longer, but once the part arrived, the computer was as good as new. Will keep coming back!

One of the things I liked about working for a state agency was that whenever something went wrong with my computer, all I had to do was call someone from computer repair and they would fix the problem. Well, now I have The Computer Department in Burlington to help me with all of my home computer issues. When my ancient Dell desktop crashed permanently, they were able to save all of the data on the hard drive. When my old laptop finally gave up, I bought a used laptop from them. I have loved this laptop. After several years, it needed major repairs. I didnt want to retire it and they fixed it so its as good as new and I didnt lose any data. While they were working on it, I bought a second used laptop from them. I love this one too. These laptops are a much higher quality than what I could afford if Id bought them new and they used their expertise to help me select one that fit my requirements perfectly.When they do a repair, if there are things that still arent working right, they will work on it until everything is corrected. I once read that the measure of a company isnt that they always do things perfectly; it is how they respond if problems occur. These people excel at computer repairs. Theyre smart, personable and I trust them completely to do a wonderful job on my computers. Our community is fortunate to have them here.

I took old computers there to be re-imaged and sold. I feel confident in selling old computers to them. They totally wiped the machine to make it safe for disposal or re-use. I feel confident taking old cell phones there for them to make safe to donate places. Worth every penny. They have also fixed 2 cell phone screens for my kids. Great guys! Cant say enough super things about this company.

I took my computer to get the screen fixed and they said it would take 3-5 business days to get the part but its been three weeks and last week when i called they said the part would come in on Wednesday but fast forward i call them today and they said they ordered the wrong part. Terrible business management. Do not go here

They have done computer set-ups and repairs at least half a dozen times over the years for our small manufacturing business. They have always done a very god job and resolved our problems quickly and at a reasonable price. We highly recommend them.

Great service all around. Very knowledgeable and I wouldnt hesitate to bring my computer or mobile devices here if they needed some emergency repair work. Also willing to go above and beyond for special orders. I had something I absolutely needed within 3 days but no local stores carried. Steve ordered it for me and I had it in my hands the next day.

Paul at the location in Mebane was awesome! He fixed my Internet connection problem in less than 60 seconds! Because it was such an easy fix for him, (I had spent 4 hours the day before trying to fix it myself!) he didnt charge me! I highly recommend them for computer repairs!

Charlie at the Mebane store did an amazing job taking care of my motherboard problem and me as a customer. They had to narrow down the problem by attempting a few of the more common hardware causing the problem I had. Through each phase of my repair I was informed about them moving forward to another option, the new cost and I was not charged for the previous part. You will NOT receive this kind of customer oriented service from big box stores. I highly recommend these guys for any computer repair.

My wireless connection turned off, apparently from an update. Took my laptop in and within 5-10 minutes it was fixed. The price was reasonable I thought. Definitely recommend if you need your computer fixed.

After calling 5 different shops and attempting to have my computer screen repaired by 2, who both failed, I brought my computer to the Computer Dept. for repair. Although there were some minor hiccups with parts and the timing of the repair, the service was completed and the screen works like new. I highly recommend this shop. They are able to complete repairs that others will not attempt, or that others will attempt and fail, and the customer service is excellent.

The staff at The Computer Dept. are absolutely wonderful! I had an issue with my Macbook Pro where my browser kept getting hijacked. I tried everything to get my computer running the way it should. Finally, I reached out to another technical service provider which told me that it would take a week to troubleshoot and fix the problem. My son has autism and has ipads that help him communicate because he is nonverbal. When he gets upset because he cant express his needs and wants, he will bite what is in his hand at the time. Unfortunately, here lately, he has decided to bite his ipads. Charlie was able to fix the screens for a very reasonable price and fast too. Also, he ordered tempered glass screens as an extra solution so maybe he wont be breaking the screens. Thanks you for the excellent customer experience. Wow, was given the runaround for 3+ weeks about them getting in some iPhone batteries to simply replace mine with. Each time I called, they told me they would have some in on Monday, they took my name and number, never got any calls. Id call up there, same thing, they will have more on Monday.. They repeated this until the 3-4 week. They said they had one in stock, I asked them to hold it for me, they again took down my info, I went to the store and again, they didnt have any..? Go somewhere, anywhere else!!

The Computer Depot does great work on computers and cell phones! Steve was able to remove a virus on my computer and fix a problem with my cell phone. Ive never come across a problem that Steve cant fix and I highly recommend The Computer Depot.

I got a custom PC built and honestly I had alot of problems before the darn thing could even come alive, but my man Charlie was so helpful. He diagnosed the problem that my Motherboard was DOA and after getting a new one installed it and now works flawlessly. No power issues, nothing! I was so stressed out and actually regretted building a PC on my own but Charlie went above and beyond. He didnt give me good service... He gave me AMAZING service! I dont know what you dudes are paying this man but give him a raise or payed vacation! For now on I am getting my PC serviced by The Computer Dept for now on! I cannot recommend them enough and will give them business whenever possible!

They bought my Surface 2 at a price I thought was pretty fair

Ive been in here twice before that I remember to have ipad screen where I had dropped it. I found the price to be very fair, the service timely and above my expectations. I told myself a long time ago Id keep coming here but today tgey secured my business as far as Im concerned. The screen on my ipad was coming off from the adhesive. So I took it in to get it repaired and got the call today it was ready. Tonight when I went in to pick it up and to pay and the two guys working tonight told me it was on the house since theyd dobe the work before and since it was just redoing the adhesive. I tried talking them into letting me pay something. Either way I will continue to use and highly recommend to everyone else.

Great service and a good place to look for parts and refurbished computers

My 5 year old dropped my ipad and shattered the screen. I had called at least 5 places trying to find a place to get get it repaired. I literally found the Computer Dept. by accident. The service was very fast, the owner was EXTREMELY knowledgeable. The price was very fair. It is nice to buisness with a small buisness owner. He answers the phone not an automated system. He kept in touch and kept me updated through out the whole process. Excellent all the way around!

Excellent customer service and quality work

I went to the Computer Department because I dropped my IPAD and shattered the screen. After calling several places, and even Apple, I was surprised to find out that Steve at the Computer Department could fix my IPAD for about 1/3 of the price anyone else quoted me. I also brought in a laptop that needed some work and he was able to restore it to new. The greatest thing about all of this is they took all of one day to get everything back to me. If you are having any problems with either your computer, cell phone, or IPAD do not go anywhere but here!!! Steve is the best!!!!
