Great take out place! I had a double cheese burger which they serve Big Mac style with a bun in between the patties. Also topped with onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard and way better than a Big Mac!! Thick cut fries that were fresh and hot.
I usually have great service and receive great product, but a half empty cup of soda just isn’t it. Next time I’d just get a kids size. My food was also unpleasant tasting, never had this issue before. I spent $10 and I don’t think it was worth it. Maybe they were just rushed I’m not sure. I’m a regular, but I might just not come back.
Were staying in Butte for a few days and found this place online. Ordered a cheeseburger and gravy fries to share, plus a malt and a shake for delivery to our hotel. The driver got here 10 minutes faster than quoted and he was friendly. The food is amazing, drinks are incredible. My husbands malt was gone pretty fast haha. All for under 20 bucks even with delivery fee and tip. Awesome! Excellent find.
Just had the ice cream part of the menu. Banana split and Brownie sundae were both really good. Ladies there were very nice. Popular place.
Always a great experience here, not to mention a Butte institution. They have just about anything you could want, so everyone can find something on the menu. They also offer online ordering and delivery, which is awesome. Open 7 days a week, with later hours than most places in town as well. Always friendly service and good food.
Great service. Good food; however, it is a bit of a wait. Plus the place is relatively run-down. The veggie burger is a bit mushy in texture. My favorite thing here was the funnel cake fries. They are a great place if you craving classic carnival and cult-classic fried food staples. They are also relatively inexpensive.
I’ll talk about the food in a minute. I want to first talk about the young folks who work here. As my family and I were eating, I saw two young kids (maybe 7 years old?) walk up and order two kids meals and begin to pay with change — they were struggling to count out the change but it was obvious they were gonna be short and so they gave it to the staff working to count. I figured the kids would only be a few bucks short so I ran over there to offer to pay the difference but by the time I got there to talk with a staff, I could see the young folks pulling out their personal money to pool together the remaining few dollars needed. This place has some quality young folks working there. They were friendly when taking me and my family’s orders but what they did later was really impressive to me. (I’m fairly certain that would not have happened in most of the restaurants back home in Portland 🤷♂️)Now, onto the food. All the food items we got were great. There wasn’t anything incredibly unique about the food (except the smiley face French fries that came with the kids meal) but they all tasted great! My kids all loved what they got and my wife and I both enjoyed our food as well!!
Ordered chicken tender meal and a shake. Basically Tyson chicken tenders at best and cheap fries. Wouldn’t be disappointed except you pay $11 for the tender meal and you wait 30minutes.
Double cheeseburger was hot, juicy, and delicious! Frosty was a great price. Glad we stopped here for lunch.
I ordered a peach shake, which can definitely be a hit or miss flavor, but it was delicious. It tasted like fresh peaches. The funnel cake fries were also delicious.
Get ice cream on a Wednesday (half price), but stick to that. Dont bother with the other food... its terrible and takes way too long.
So I’m at Bonanza Freeze right now, right? I just had the BEST freaking pretzel I have ever had in my entire life. It was perfect... and when I mean perfect, I mean PERFECT. Beautiful shape, toasted to perfection, and sprinkled with a bit of salt. The cheese was warmed to a beautiful temperature and there was the perfect amount of it to go with the pretzel without being too much or not enough. BEAUTIFUL. I’m beYOND impressed with this pretzel.I gave four stars because I almost got clipped in the parking lot, but the pretzel definitely makes up for it.Superb and enjoyable pretzel.
This place is awesome. Great eats that wont break the bank. Wanted milkshakes and they are amazing. The staff are super friendly and helpful too. Will definitely stop by again.
Ice cream was good…but why in the world does an ice cream place’s only topping offer contain nuts? Sprinkles with nuts? Why can’t sprinkles be offered alone? But because I have a nut allergy, I can’t have a topping. Seems so silly to me. This should be a simple change.
Super fast service. Loved my shake, though strangely they don’t have an Oreo or cookies and cream style flavor. Awesome spot if you need a little treat on a drive through Butte!

Great place for summer treats and not bad for a quick bite either, as long as you dont mind the wait. Lines are long most times of day, but it is because they cook everything to order and have lots of dessert choices. The Cyclones and Slowdas are great and have tons of flavor options. They have a few picnic tables to dine right there and the workers are always very friendly.
Bonanza freeze is the best. Since late stage capitalism had grown more gnarly, shareholders relentlessly pushing for the bottom line, the dairy queen has diminished horribly in quality. I love local businesses because they seem to maintain quality where big corporations cant. Maybe its a labor of love. Idk. Viva bonanza freeze!

Id give it really a 4.5, but only because it felt like it took ages for food while i was in line and with my own order and I just felt horrible for the people behind me. Of course, that immediately changed after we got our order and drove away because that was some good grub, and i hope they in the end felt the same as well! There was nothing wrong with the food. The shakes are really good. You simply need to be ready to wait for them. I would suggest bringing some light reading, like, say, War and Peace.

Its a local business thats been in Butte since 1947 and still owned by the same family. It has a drive through as well as a walk-up window. The menu offers frozen treats as well as various hot dog and hamburger selections, and full dinners. They offer a wide variety of ice cream flavors and toppings. The staff is very pleasant. There is limited parking and the drive-through can get congested at peak meal times with waiting times as long as 15-20 minutes depending on the time it takes to fill the orders, such as a vehicle that orders four dinners will take some time to get their order. Usually, however, there is very little waiting involved. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you like a sense of nostalgia, you will enjoy Bonanza Freeze!

As much as I adore this place for it being a constant throughout my childhood experiences, I cannot let that cloud the actual facts of what it is now. Their milkshakes are and always will be amazing. Sadly I cant say the same for their food. To serve less than par quality food at the absurd price listed for every menu item is disappointing to say the least. When families go out to eat, a lot of things play a factor in where that family chooses to go. When you are met with such results each time you give a certain establishment more than one chance to deliver even the slightest better quality or service given the benefit of the doubt...you just dont bother. Its not what it used to be and I will remember it for what it once was.
Bananza Freeze has always been a drive-thru eatery. It is family owned and is very popular. They are very popular for their ice cream choices, however, they have great sandwiches, fries and onion rings and many more items. I always eat there when I am in the uptown area. You wont be disappointed with the Bananza Freeze.
Theyre food isnt even that great and we had to wait in line for 30 minutes for the person in front of us to get some cheeseburgers. We called the manager asking for them to tell the people in front of us to pull to the front of the restaurant to wait for their food and he did nothing. Not to mention the entire staff was standing around doing literally nothing. They could have been sending some of the staff out to take orders from those of us stuck in line but instead they just sat in side joking around. We ended up leaving because whats the point in waiting 30+ minutes for mediocre food and ice cream. The audacity of the owner to ask a paying customer to stand outside in below 30° weather to get ice cream is ridiculous and to claim they are not a fast food restaurant when they only offer a drive thru and a walk up is also ridiculous.
I like this place. It has that old-time feel & charm. They deliver, that is a big draw for me.

Everything was a soggy mess, the only thing decent was the ice cream and mozzarella sticks. Chicken sandwich and fries were so mushy I couldn’t even eat them. Husband got the chill burger and threw half away. Super disappointed.

They have traditional banana splits, cheesecake, shakes, malts, cyclones(like a blizzard from DQ), regular ice cream, dipped ice cream, cotton candy, brownies, I think they have cookies, just about anything you like, theyve got!We always come here when we visit Butte!

Everybody is hot and miserable and seems that we all want the same thing, ice cold creamy ice cream and fast! Even with how hot it has been the servers at bonanza freeze all wore gloves and masks very friendly and speedy. Thanks for saving us from heat exhaustion. You are a life saver Bonanza Freeze!

The food is okay. The snackfood is awesome! This place has great specialties and novelties. I love the funnel cake fries. The malts and shakes are great. You have to try the popcorn. At least as good as movie theater if not better. And you can get cotton candy any day of the year! They also have real food and its fine.I love that this place is basically the concessions stand for the perpetual carnival that is Uptown Butte.
Butte classic! They have a huge menu selection that is the envy of most sit down restaurants. They even have a pasty dinner option. Food was good, and the shakes were great. Nice option for fast food. I like the unique look kid the place. No seating or indoor space, just a pull-up window or walk up.
Too many reasons to love Bonanza Freeze! So heres a few, the sprinkles are like none youve ever had before. Smiley fries are pure happiness. The dessert choices go beyond ice cream but if you want ice cream dont worry, theyll have your flavor! Oh, and did I mention, they deliver?
The cheese burger patty was thin, dry and overall nearly tasteless, fries tasted like old fries from McDonalds.Service was great, but the food was very bland and not worth the money.

Fun family place to walk up to. The sloppy joe was just ok and kind of small, but the ice cream sundaes were huge, and we loved the atmosphere and friendly patrons.

A fun local ice cream and burger shop. Wednesdays are have price comes. Every week they change the flavor in one of their soft serve machines. The best flavor in my opinion is banana. Its made with actual bananas not yucky flavoring.Nachos delight is also a favorite. I like slowdas as well.
If there wasnt hair in my sundae, it wouldve been great!

Always eat here when visiting Butte. They do a really good trade here. You can sit outside and eat or drive thru. No inside facilities. I love their milkshakes
