They raised my zero fret & leveled the others, getting rid of fret buzz on my bass. Quick service at a fair price. Ill definitely go back when I need work done.

I took my semi hollowbody to these guys to replace both pick ups and install a new wiring harness.When I got my brand new condition guitar back it had noticeable scratches in two locations on the from of the guitar.

Handed my new Fender Strat To Mr. John Carruthers for a Professional set up and to get some much needed adjustments. I was totally impressed by the workshop and all the workers were very Professional and polite. I was amazed when I received a call from Mr. Carrithers a few hours later letting me know my Strat was ready to pick up. I was very impressed with the fast turnaround and even more impressed with the Quality and workmanship. My guitar sounds great and looks great. I brought a 50 year old Fender acoustic guitar to John that needed intricate work to replace a bridge and peg holes that were deteriorating. John promised that the guitar would both sound and play better after the repair. He actually exceeded that expectation at a fair price. A rarity in todays world!

Carruthers will not only repair any issue you are having, but he will show you other things you can do to improve the playability and tone of your guitar better than it ever was. He was able to resolve an issue with my telecaster that another tech could not figure out. Worth the drive if you want the best care of your instruments.

I own an expensive concert classical guitar. The guitar is 47 years old, and the tuning mechanism needed to be replaced. John was recommended to me. I went to his facility in Camarillo, and he spent the necessary time to replace the mechanism with a new one which now works fine. I had tried other guitar repair shops, and none them could help me, as this required some custom work. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable, courteous and professional, and his price was very fair. I highly recommend him.

There are guitar repairmen and then there is John. He is truly in a class by himself. We have taken several guitars to him for repair and are thrilled with every aspect of our business dealings with him. Hes a consummate professional.

Carruthers works wonders. Took in my practically unplayable Taylor 12 string and transformed it into a beautiful sounding guitar thats easy on the fingers it almost plays itself. Caruthers is a master of his trade. I dont trust anyone else to work on my guitars.

This is a world class guitar wizard. Builds guitars for Eric Clapton, Lindsey Buckingham, and a lot more. It’s crazy that a guy like this is in Camarillo.He set up my Strat and it was perfect. Taking it back today for some upgrades.Highly recommend this guy.

There is no better luthier or repairman or general all-around good guy than John in Southern California.

I had taken my guitar to another tech before taking it to John. There was stuff left unadressed and obvious, even to me, signs of MAYBE THIS GUY HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE IS DOING that left me feeling absolutely uneasy and unsatisfied (this is in reference to the first tech i took it to, not John). Anyway, i contacted john, told him essentially what I told the other tech, basic history of my ownership with the guitar, things here and there that i had done to it myself, and general explained what i didnt like about it. John laid it all out, told me how the guy basically butchered my Les Paul, he flattened my frets and did not crown them AT ALL, didnt even try, didnt even care. From the second i began to talk to John I knew he was different. I knew he had an overall passion for guitars just by the way he spoke about them. My frets are like new, he made me a new nut that was cut correctly, Gibson themselves dont like change and dont seem to want to address their G and D string binding issues, John cut this nut perfectly, the slots that should angle towards the nut DO. The playability is improved like i cant even describe. Its EASY to play, its not a pain in the ass anymore. Go to John if youre thinking of having your instrument looked at, do it right the first time, take it to John!!
