I sent my gen 5 slide to them, not realizing they did not work on this particular version. The company owner contacted me, apologized (as if it were there fault, instead of mine), and said he would create a new program, so that they could take care of my needs. GREAT customer service! Thanks,Jeff Johnson

Just got the stage 2 trigger work back and installed on the 10/22 I have had since I was 12 (26 years ago) I put a $130 ER Shaw barrel on magpul stock and it puts the Lapua match ammo in same hole @ 50 yards without the barrel even broken in. It took a several weeks to get the trigger group back but is totally worth the wait for what you get for the price. I requested the sweet spot pull weight and it breaks so clean at 2lb 2oz.

I had them do a trigger install for my M&P 2.0 over all I was very pleased with the process very great service and I loved how quick they were to respond to email. There were only two things that stopped me from giving a perfect 5 star. 1 was I couldnt get the qr code to show the progress on the work this maybe just needed someone to update how ever I know they were very busy, which was the 2 reasons I didnt give 5 star, I was told two weeks and it took about 3weeks other then that this place is amazing staff is great and I will definitely bring my guns here in the feature.

Had my Glock sent here for milling and installing a vortex viper, the installation is perfect 3/5 stars because about 3-4 months after being cerakoted the cerakote had rubbed off in several spots leaving bare metal from going in and out of the holster, which is the same holster I had before hand. Overall the work was great but the cerakote is lacking.

Dropped off my 43x on 2/4/2021 and picked up 2/20/21.Dropped off my 43x to get the slide milled for a Holosun 507k x2 optic. Due to how busy they were, I had to make an appointment as they were not taking walk-ins. David greeted me and we went over my needs. He walked me through the process and gave me a time frame.Got a call a couple days ago that my order was ready, ahead of schedule, and I emailed to make an appointment to pickup. Went in today and reviewed my order, asked a couple questions, paid and left. There are not a lot of quality smiths for Custom Glock work in my area and I am extremely happy with the process. Took all of 45 minutes for the combined meetings and the work was done quickly. I am excited to have a smith in the area and not have to deal with shipping out of state and dealing with FedEx...The quality so far is above par. Optic is seated cleanly and snug into the slide. The cerakote is even and beautiful and looks factory. The optic screws are Loctite in and the depth of the mill is better than an MOS with plate.I am extremely happy with the work and will return in the future for other services.Cheers to everyone at Brimstone Gunsmithing!

After dealing with nightmare work from a gunsmith online I was hessitant to bring my firearms into another gunsmith. The reviews for Brimestone looked positve so I figured I would give it another shot..The work they did was beyond excellent! I am abit of a perfectionist, and nothing about their work dissapointed me (cerakote and sight installs). It really is top notch work and they are now my go to gunsmith! As a side note, with all the covid crazyness they are on appointment only (no walk ins). The communication and scheduling was on point as well. Great job guys, thanks!

When it comes to cerakote application on any type of close tolerance firearm, BUYER BEWARE.I took my 1911 in for a complete cerakote application and when they delivered the finished firearm, they didnt disclose that they had to grind the slide off to bare metal in order to get it back together again. They either:A)forgot to disclose this significant failure.B) figured Id never disassemble the weapon to discover the problem. orC) Didnt think that having bare metal exposed on the slide was any big deal and thats just how things turn out when applying cerakote to a close tolerance firearm.None of these are acceptable reasons for this performance and very poor business practice to say the least! When I took it back to them the next day, they said sorry, but the clearances are so tight, there isnt any way to fix it and thats what we had to do. Tough Luck!!I subsequently took the firearm to another, more experienced cerakote applicator, SUR-TAK gear in Troutdale and it came out beautifully. When it comes to cerakote applications on any type of close tolerance firearm, learn from my bad experience and stay away from Brimstone Gunsmithing .Edit/Delete Message

I cant illustrate how satisfied I am with this company. Ive had them Cerakote, an AR15, stake a castle nut, put in a trigger for a shield 9mm, and sell me parts to repair an AR15 that was damaged due to the manufacture making a mistake. Ive had 4 experiences with brimstone so far. 3 out of the 4 went great and everything went smoothly, the 4th time there was a delay when getting an optic cut done on my slide. I was frustrated in the beginning because it wasnt done and it had been two weeks. I spoke with david and he was super professional and straight up. The whole process took 3 weeks and though slightly longer then the normal process ill definitely bring business back to them. You cant expect everything to be perfect. Things happen, but a company that will work with you and accommodate you so you have a good experience, you cant ask for more than that. If theres ever a problem. Just be polite and professional and dont throw a fit and you might be suprised how a company with work with you. Highly recommend this company.

My one experience with them, a mistake was made installing my sights on a G43x resulting in an expensive front sight getting lost, no idea if manufacturer issue or install issue. Doesnt matter, mistakes happen. What DOES matter, is when I brought it back and explained what happened, they didnt say, OK, what do you want us to do about it? or anything... They immediately said theyd replace it without my even asking. THAT is integrity and amazing customer service! Sure I dont like mistakes who does, but if one happens, how its addressed makes all the difference, and these guys stand by their work! Ill always come back to them and recommend them because of that!

Really amazing results. I noticed a comment about Brimstone on a blog about Ruger BX triggers and decided rather than throw the stock trigger away and gambling on the quality/consistency of a BX trigger, to try Brimstone. To my (just learning) finger, the reworked stock trigger now feels like single stage, and my measuring matches with the notes returned with my trigger - a pull of 2lb 2oz. Beautiful, clean break, and yes, the bolt hold back releases perfectly with a simple pull back. No more fumbling with that release lever. Its rewarding to experience excellent workmanship and great value. Thanks Brimstone!

All the work I have had done has been top notch. Anything from Cerakote to custom work. Custom work required a bit of milling to my pistol to fit the aftermarket sights. Have happily referred others to Brimstone with the same positive experience.

Heres the bottom line, up front: Brimstone offers their services at an affordable price and has the quickest turnaround of any of the shops in the Camas/ Vancouver area. They are very reasonable and pleasant to work with and truly value their customers.I was back for Winter break and wanted to have a rifle drilled and tapped for a scope mount. Of course, with school starting up soon after my visit to Brimstone, I needed to get my rifle back relatively quickly. I searched all the other gunsmith in the area and found that most turnaround times were from 2-6 weeks. Brimstone got it done in one.The people working at Brimstone also make this my go-to shop for the future. Polite, accommodating, and well mannered are all words to describe their staff. If you are looking for a place to have good work done at a good price, with a good turnaround and overall good experience, I have no doubt youll choose Brimstone.Thank you!

Sent my mini 14 trigger assembly in to Brimstone right before Christmas and got it back shortly after New Years ( which surprised me in itself given the hectic nature of the holidays). They did precisely what they advertised that they would do at a reasonable price. I sent them a trigger with ALOT of creep and grit. It came back crisp and smooth with a 3.7 pound pull weight and an adjustable over-pull screw (that other places charge extra for) installed to boot! Perfect. Im a perfectionist and I enjoy dealing with other perfectionists as these guys seem to be. After reading the other reviews I have the confidence that if there is ever a problem with their work that they would try hard to correct it unconditionally as I would in my business. Good job Brimstone! I look forward to doing business with you in the future.

Few months a go a friend of mine recomended a different gunsmith in vancouver who builds and understands long range precition rifles. long story short, i took my rifle there and right away i felt those guys knew what they were doing, i decided to rebuild the rifle again... my mcmillin a5 stock had to be salveged which took them 4 extra hrs to take off the old bedding. I have had nothing but great expierience with the brimstone team. I had brought my AR to them for the reliability package. Came back and runs well and its smooth. I brought in my savage for a trigger job, pillar bedding, and cerakote. Although there was a little difference in price from what i was qouted on email. I understand. I know my rifle is in good hands . for the one star reviews i understand brimstones responce and position on the issues. In the gun smithing business there are just some guns that shouldnt be worked on otherwise it would be a liability. Brimstone would love for all customers to leave happy but there are just some people that will never be. The kimber solo is junk and brimstone was doing the man a favor in telling him to send it to the factory. Saving the man money. The cerakote 1911 the cerakote would be gone from the rails in no time especialy if tolerances are tight would you rather have a functioning gun or fancy colored rails . I was going to have my bolt body cerakoted and they recomended against it. Great company. And its up the road in between my house and my work. Hard to save money with a great gun smith and gun shop in between

Ri
Review №58

Brimstone refused to tighten up an ambidextrous safety on a used Kimber Solo I purchased from SAFEFIRE... does not say much for either their relationship to SAFEFIRE or for the capability of their gunsmith shop. Not sure if the job was too difficult or just an inconvenience for them, but it cost me several trips to SAFEFIRE trying to get a small job done. They basically told me to take my Kimber and send it to the manufacture. So my recommendation is not to expect much from Brimstone. if they cannot tighten up a safety lever I am not sure what else they cannot do... so save yourself the effort of asking them for any service... I know I wont be going back there for any type of service in the future. Also recommend that SAFEFIRE find a real gunsmith outfit to represent them at their very nice facility in Vancouver.RESPONSE to response: My review is valid as it is a comment on customer service... the safety being loose repair was all that I wanted. Now you say you can fix that no problem... well that was not my experience and that what my review states. So looks like you prove my point and confirm that you refused to fix a safety (which should be at no charge since it was a condition of the used gun sale which now puts a stain on my feelings about SAFEFIRE) however they have offered to take care of the problem, no thanks to you. My review stands !

Where to begin...This by far has been the best experience every that I have had with a gunsmith. I did a 300 Win Mag build and Brimstone worked with me every step of the way. We set the action into a MDT Tac21 chassis, MDt Butt stock, did trigger work, installed the Krieger Barrel (threaded it) and Cerakoted the who rifle in a crazy patter all for a pretty affordable price. They were so good I am taking my 10/22 and my .308 Rem 700 to them for custom builds as well. I wish I could post pictures, but Google doesnt have that option. All I can say is David and his team are rock stars, not sure I would trust my firearms with anyone else.

Co
Review №62

I brought my Remington 597 here for work because I read reviews of good 10/22 work. I was terribly disappointment and will no longer use this business. I brought it in for bedding the action and free floating the barrel. He told me 4 weeks. It turned out it was 7 weeks, which I can deal with. My wife picked up the gun for me, so when I saw the gun at home I noticed it had 8-10 new dings in the stock, a large sanded area on the side of the stock and 2 cracks coming off the top where the receiver hits the wood. Wondering what happened I called Brimstone. They said they dinged the stock and said they didnt want to have to charge me for more work, so they left it as is. More money for their mistakes? Seemed liked a cover up of crappy work. You dinged it, you fix it. I told him I want a new stock since he cracked it. He would not replace the stock, but agreed to sand it down and fix it. I made the 45 minute drive each way to return the gun. 5 weeks later I was tired of waiting and called to see where it was at. Of course, they said they were working on it right now. 2 days later I get a call that it is done. I once again make the drive to pick it up. The stock looks better, but I can still feel the wood grain through the stock where he sanded it and the cracks are visible, but the stock is looking better, but still not what it was before I brought the gun in. I get the gun home and tried sliding the bolt back and it did not feel right. I then pulled the gun apart to find missing guide rod screws and 2 bent and broken guide rod springs. Any person with a brain knows you cant expect a gun to cycle properly if its not assemble correctly. The guide rods were sliding inside the action and the springs were completely different lengths due to being broken off. I called him up and he told me thats how they came. They did not come that way, I religiously clean my guns and I put this together myself not a week before bringing the gun in. He reluctantly agreed to order the 12 dollars worth of parts that he broke and lost as long as he didnt have to touch the rifle again. I agreed, I would rather do it myself than let this shop work on my gun. This place does sloppy work with no care given to your gun. I highly recommend going elsewhere.EDIT: This is an edit after I just read the response from Brimstone. First of all, it is not a $70 mass produced laminate stock. It was $150. There is a huge difference between an imperfection and a ding in the wood. If you cant tell the difference than maybe you shouldnt be working with wood stocks. Saying the stock was returned better than new is a flat out lie. Besides, we all know that fixed stocks are better than new(sarcasm). Brimstone shouldnt have dinged it the first place and given it back hoping I wouldnt notice. Now in the response they blame the factory for the stocks dings. Im sorry but a 3 inch sanded spot on the side of the stock is not from the factory. Neither is a giant chip behind the receiver, which by the way, Brimstone thought it would be fine to glue back into place. Not 1 week after getting the gun back the second time, the chip fell out.I specifically called before I brought the gun down and asked if the owner if they could do this project, which they accepted and said they would have no issues with me bringing the gun disassembled. If a shop doesnt know how to put a gun back together, thats a problem. When I got to the store, I had the action pieces in bags, labeled. Besides that was the stock, receiver and barrel. I asked the clerk if he would like me to show him how it went together. He said they know and took the parts. Its funny they say some customers will never be happy. I was happy, just not with Brimstone. I took my gun to Clark County Gunsmithing and I got the results I was looking for. Some people may be happy with sloppy work. I for one am not. In the end, they would not give me my money back. They ruined my stock and broke multiple action parts. The attitude shown by Brimestones response is the same attitude I got in person and on the phone. STAY AWAY!
