I asked if a 3 year old could try the cotton candy. The owner said well it tasted just like cotton candy. Um yeah thanks I’m pretty sure I know that. I wanted her to taste it to make sure it’s what she wanted. Thanks though. 🙄🙄🙄

First experience at Carvel. The manager was very friendly and super helpful. The ice cream was the best weve ever had! Definitely a WOW experience.

This is the absolute best! We live in Indiana, anytime we come to Michigan we stop. The owner is amazing and kind. Always great to conversate with him. If you havent tried, you are missing out! It is hands down the best ever! Kudos!!

I use to rave about this place. I loved coming here and I have been going here for years! The place is family run (or use to be, unsure) and the owner was extremely welcoming. This place has continued to go down hill. This has not been a one time occurrence, but rather 5-6 times. I continued to try to give this place the benefit of the doubt because I loved coming here. I am unsure how you can call yourself an ice cream place when you do not have any type of ice cream left, not even the basic flavors of vanilla and chocolate in soft serve or regular ice cream. On top of that, to continue to promote the dashers that you cannot make. It’s extremely discouraging to not be able to provide your customers anything besides flavors that clearly no one gets as they sit there full and everything else is empty. Unfortunately, this place has lost mine and my families business for good. I expected more and it is extremely disappointing.

Didnt know that this place is the Goat 🐐 of ice cream 🍦. All the way back 🔙 to the 1930s. The manager was very informative and the ice cream was tasty 😋. We will be back 🔙.

How does an ice cream place have no ice cream? They literally had 3 flavors. The old man is weird, there are better ice cream shops. Atmosphere is stale, workers don’t seem happy, place needs some love.

Quick and friendly service. Good options at a great price. Not many cakes in the freezer so you should order in advance. It was great until someone brought their dog in.

If you value quality customer service, or being treated like a person, take your hard earned money elsewhere. The older male manager with the U of M mask has a personality like freezerburnt ice cream.

Today was our first time trying Carvel’s, and it was a wonderful experience. The manager was so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable about his product. He even gave us a whole history lesson about the brand and how the custard is made. The soft serve custard was definitely the creamiest we had ever tasted. We will definitely be back for another delicious treat next time we are in the area.

Loved their vanilla and strawberry flavors! Definitely the best ice cream shop you can have after an Ikea visit.

I can’t believe I just walked into this store. The man that was working had a huge attitude, took the people that were behind us before us and all the ice cream options were gone. I asked him for a brownie/ice cream and he replied in the rudest voice ‘you need to go to a restaurant for that’, super weird. Save your time, go somewhere else. I don’t recommend.

Used to be good, now lousy as hell, Ordered Orange Sherbet.....not Sherbert at all, taste really old, will never go back there.

We came in tonight with a group of 6 of us and one 3 people could get what they actually came in for. The product was completely gone. Crazy when an ice cream shop runs out of almost all or their ice cream.

Im not quite sure why an ice cream shop has such bad reviews but I had an excellent experience. I called in my order and the guy was very helpful and made suggestions for my custom cake. It was ready when they said it would be and I thought the price was reasonable. Cant wait to try it!Thanks Carvel!

No cakes prepared, minimal options and the older gentlemen is someone who shouldn’t interact with customers. I went to Buffalo Wild Wings next door thinking ice cream would be a nice dessert. I’d rather go to a grocery store and buy a pint after this experience.

Worst experience!! We drove 30 minutes to go here..we had our kids with us.. the older gentleman really needs to learn customer service...First he was late opening I politely asked what time he opened & he said when Ever I want!! I didnt know how to take that as I was asking so I know next time which there definitely will not be, then I tried to order ice cream for my kids he said I couldnt it was too hard to scoop so I proceeded to find something different which I did pre made sundaes in freezer which then he said you can not eat those either you will have to let them sit for 20 minutes before eating...so I said thats fine & I paid as my friend was paying I said can I ask you a question to him? And then he shushed me!! I was definitely taken back by this gentleman!!! If hes the owner I really hope not but he really needs to learn to be more polite! I will not be returning...

We have enjoyed Carvel for nearly 15 years. The owner is a fabulous guy and always recognizes us. Many ice cream cakes have been purchased for birthdays and other occasions. Love this place!

Very hard to find and the light where not on. They where supposed to be open but the closed. And hours before.

Being from New York Carvel has always been my favorite ice cream place. This manager was the rudest person I’ve ever met specifically at the Canton, MI location. Not to mention the soft serve machines look like they haven’t been cleaned and no one was wearing gloves. The service is awful. I wouldn’t even send my worst enemy here. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Friendly and always quick! This Carvel is family owned, and has been in the neighborhood for many years. The ice-cream is always fresh - and their custard is delicious!

If you are looking for ice cream you cant put down because it is delicious, go here. I can happily label 2 lbs and a couple treadmill hours after this place. A great stop before or after an Ikea visit.

Wonderful experience. Needed something safe for a nut allergy and they were more than accommodating. So happy to have this in the neighborhood.

The ice cream is good, but I do feel sick sometimes after I eat here. The employees are nice, but they do not use gloves or wear hats. I just pulled a hair out of my ice cream. I do not think I’ll be back.

Best ice cream place ever! I really enjoy their soft serves, variety of flavors, tops, and omg their ice cream cake is to die for and comes in the shop of a whale/sheets/faces/variety of sizes/theyre just amazing!! Only place I like to have ice cream at and completely worth any wait. Theyre local, friendly, and amazing to eat! My husband and I go there all the time and have met the owner a few times. We recently got married and picked up an ice cream cake from there for ourselves and the owner gave it to us for free for coming there straight after being married and being a loyal customer. They only want me to come back and get more cake (so happy to get that cake!!!). Best place ever!!!

Beautiful birthday ice cream cake with an adorable car decorated on top! A total hit with all the party guests. The nut allergy guests were able to enjoy it also! Customer service top notch. Will definitely order again!

Disappointing! I was at the Buffalo Wild Wings next door when I thought ice cream sounded good. I looked at the time they closed on Google and their actual website. I thought, score its not 11pm yet its 10:49pm.. Still plenty of time to get ice cream. I guess I was wrong because when I pulled on the doors the didnt budge. They were locked by 10:50pm on a Saturday. Good to know we cant trust their times online...

Wish I could give them a zero. The owner closed the store to make a run. And posted a note on door that it would be opened at 2. Which definitely didnt happen. After knocking, an older lady answered and said she was not able to do anything without the owner. I asked if she could maybe call him for an ETA. But she expressed he would get mad at her. We came as a group but had to leave after waiting too long for his return. This is the second bad experience weve had here. Would not recommend

They mentioned that they close at 8 on their website, we were there at 7:25 and he was closing and told us that he closes when he wants to close!!We were very disappointed

My niece and I were stopping to have some ice cream. The older gentleman was very rude and had a bad attitude. Ive been to this location several times. I will not be returning here. We did not make a purchase here.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! My best friend and I went in today and it became my new favorite ice cream stop! Bdubs is my favorite spot to eat, so the location is perfect! The ice cream was fabulous and the service was even better! The gentleman who helped us was so nice and funny. I never wanted to leave!

First time customer and it was a good experience. I ordered the cake a day ahead and it looked good. Ice cream cake had a very good taste, not to sweet but a lot of flavor. Everybody liked it. Will be back.

Ice cream is ok but Gary needs to sell place to someone who enjoys working with the public. He is the rudest most uncaring owner ever. Who can enjoy a ice cream after someone is rude and makes it clear its his way or no way.

Great customer service

This is the 2nd time Ive went here and each visit was not so great. Today was a hot sunny day and I was in the mood for a sweet treat. So I arrived at 1:50 and there was a sign posted opening at 2pm. While I was waiting in the hot sun at the picnic table I saw an elderly lady walking around inside and 2:02 so I knocked on the door and she said the owner stepped away and she couldnt let me in. The acted like I was about to rob her or something she began making excuses why she couldnt let me in. She claimed that she didnt know how to operate the credit card machine and I told her that I had cash. She said the soft serve machine was down I said that I wanted hand packed. I asked her to call him because there was a line forming she said that he would get upset. I felt that I was being racially profiled because she refused to let me in and refused to serve me. This is a very unprofessionally ran business establishment and my money is green no black!

Old time good taste for vanilla flavor ice cream

Went there at 11:30 on Wednesday morning to buy an ice cream cake. It was closed. No signs on the door stating the hours. Their website said opens at 11:00.

This was the 3rd time that the Soft Serve machine was under maintenance. I made sure I went on a different day to have the soft serve. How do you have your main attraction not available during open hours? Not just once, but 3 times. Maintenance? Common sense would suggest that maintenance would be conducted when the store was closed or late at night just before closing. Not 3 oclock in the afternoon.Owner was rude and condescending.

Worst experience I have ever had at an ice cream shop!! tried out twice, first time I went, the Mgr./owner was rude and very unpleasant with the comments he made and the belittling of other businesses that offered similar services such as door dash, fresh fruit, etc. 2nd time, me and some of my co-workers decided to visit because the location is close to our work and the same person had a open at 2 sign on the door. we decided to wait until 2, no one came to the door. Then, at 2:08pm, we decided to knock on the door and an older lady came to the door and stated that she wasnt allowed to open the door and that the Mgr. would get upset if she called him. The treatment from both these individuals was odd, but not unfamiliar. Call me what you want, but the only thing I can attribute these actions to is my race, being that me and my co-workers were black in majority. It is truly unfortunate, as I will be spreading the word to some 100+ co-workers at my place of employment so that we no longer patronize this type of behavior..... Beware.

This place is awful! It is expensive ($5.60 for a medium sundae) and the sundaes have very little taste. A strawberry shake can hardly be called a shake when over half is whipped cream. I will not be coming back again.

The wait was a bit long. I know that they have restarted the brand but there definitely are some holes especially in an area like metro Detroit that has strong home town chains.

My husband & I decided to try Carvels this past weekend since we have a BOGO Sundae coupon. We wanted to upgrade one of the Sundaes and was told NO, even though we were willing to pay the difference. But thats OK.. no big deal. The Sundaes come with whipped cream and a cherry; I did not want either and asked if I could have a sprinkle of peanuts instead - again, we were told NO. No I am sorry.. just a flat out NO. Wow, what crappy customer service! We are NOT going back again.. this guy was just rude. (written by, Pam H)

I am literally standing in Carvel right now waiting for my kiddos to finish their ice cream. WE WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK! I was asking my son if he wanted toppings mixed in his ice cream when the very rude gentleman stated that is so ten years ago we are not cold stone. I was just asking my son what he wanted in his blizzard like thing not for the gentleman to perform cold stone like theatrics. I cant believe someone would speak to me like that. I seriously felt like a 4 year old being scolded. Not a nice friendly place. I know it is hard working in the customer service and I try to treat said individuals with respect because I know it is difficult. Steer clear of this and party like it is 2007 at Cold Stone I guess.
