I will give them 5 stars only if they clean up the store. What is up with all those fruit flies in there? Disgusting! Makes me not want to buy anything there.
Pros: Comparatively clean (this is Carbondale after all), good selection for the area, quality store brands, most store staff are friendly.Cons: Prices can be higher than other stores in town, sales and coupons from the mobile app help. VERY limited deli & bakery. Produce section difficult to maneuver. Aisles generally are often blocked by employees, people talking on their phones, displays, couples bickering, etc. Some of the self checkout scanners are fine, some seem to be possessed.Edited: I switched to curbside pickup with the rise in covid. Employees Ive been in contact with are fast, efficient, friendly. Overall they do a decent job selecting meats and produce. But if/when items are missing from my order (happening a lot lately) its a long, drawn out hassle that must take place inside the store to get it fixed. Which sort of defeats the whole purpose of curbside, doesnt it?There is also a problem with any substitutions for products that arent available. I receive an email with proposed substitutions to approve or decline. There is only one choice offered which may or may not be at all comparable and if declined (well before the deadline) there is a good chance Ill get it (and be charged for it) anyway.Today I was offered a single lime to replace a 2 pound bag (no ability to change quantity, THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!).Also, mild taco sauce is not a replacement for hot buffalo wing sauce in any universe.Theres more, but you get the idea.Someone needs to work on the algorithm!
Call the manager this morning and he assured me this was a one offSpent an hour shopping and went to the cashers lines, none were open. Customer service desk when asked told me there are none open right now when asked. No service. I do not use self check out line.
Need more Diet Cherry Cola in the Big K brand. Other than that, great
Carbondale Kroger our favorite because they have more products. I just called produce dept. to report two times now we bought potatoes that are real green. First 10 pound were Russet, then the next bag we bought Idaho, thinking maybe they would not be green. They also are very green. When you cook, have to peel the green off or it is bitter. The man that answered the call, said he would check them, but he said our call is the only complaint he has gotten. Just watch your potatoes if you buy them in a bag, they may be green. This is the only complaint we have had on Kroger.
They could do better in every direction you look there. .. .dirty & crowded. Update best place to develop herd mentality half the people no masks employees included. Way more than recommended occupancy best place to go for plague ever!
Need to hire some cashiers. Put people to work!!!
The manager of the store came up to me and my brother and told us we had to put on masks but did not ask people around us to put them on. Thanks for ruining my day! You just lost a loyal customer.
Employees rude lazy poorly trainedWill never go backThanks Amanda
I try to go when they arent busy and I find the experience easy. The staff is really friendly and try their best to help out. They have accepted my item request several times and it wasnt too long before the shelves were stocked with what I wanted! I hope Kroger moves towards whole foods and vegan options in the future!
I would like to thank the store manager today. I have lost my wallet in the store. And I was very upset. He had found my wallet and bought it up to me. Thank you for being so courteous and assisting me. What a blessing you young men are at that store. I appreciate you all and will always continue to shop there. Thank you again for everything you did for me today. God bless
Carbondale Kroger is always my first choice when going shopping. Between the cleanliness of the store, how polite the employees are, and the selection of items in the store, I wouldnt shop anywhere else.
The staff is great. Always has been. I believe I had nester and Tasha at check out. Nice friendly folk. Only 4 stars because they require face masks yet the hand sanitizer is not accessible upon walking into the cart area and is actually inside the store. Move the hand sanitizer. Complete dropping of the ball by corporate or upper level management. Sanitizer needs to be the first thing seen upon entering from outside if they want to take this approach toward the human apocalypse plague. Many will forget to even use it if it is beyond the cart area. Other than that I was pleased.
I really like the remodel, Starbucks, and specialty food areas (cheese & olives). It never fails though that SOMETHING ALWAYS RINGS UP AT THE WRONG PRICE!! This has been ongoing for a few years on nearly every shopping trip. This Kroger has definitely gotten a reputation for pricing errors. WATCH YOUR RECEIPTS! Today I was peeved because they are remodeling and the public restrooms are out. In the back of the store there are restrooms but i was told by the self check clerk that those were out of order and had signs on the door. I was told that we had to go out to their gas station restroom. 2 other employees told me that the bathrooms werent really out of order & work just fine. Not sure why they didnt want their customers using the washroom, but we left and went to the grocery store up the road to shop. The employees are usually very nice but today the attitudes and scowls on the employees faces was a downer. Maybe the entire store was told that they are getting pay cuts?? Lol.
I love shopping at Krogers. The prices are fair the employees are so friendly and they have so many options! And if you ever need help with anything all you have to do is ask and youll be taken care of!!
Always a great experience. They make shopping better. I like the fact that they ask if you need assistant while just walking around the store. The employees seem to enjoy what they do.
I love the selection at my local Kroger store! So many gluten free/dairy free options, and the prices are much more reasonable than my local grocery store is! Its always clean and the staff from the stock persons, to the persons working the check out counter, they always make me feel welcome!
Dakota and Tim were amazing...I tried to help them put the groceries in my car and neither one of them would let me.... customer service was exceptional...... outstanding job to both of these young guys from Carbondale store.... Thank You again....I appreciate it.....
I love this Krogers and have shopped there for years. The newly remodeled store looks fantastic and love all the additional choices now. Especially the fresh sushi station. Always great customer service too.
I absolutely love this Kroger. I always have an excellent shopping experience while Im there. Some of the cashiers even remember my name and Ive made it a priority to be well acquainted with the store manager who is an incredibly nice guy. Simply would not shop anywhere else.
Produce always fresh and of good quality. Deli and cheese counters are first class. Staff helpful and friendly. Lots of scooters available for those of us who cannot walk around a large store. Kroger points help save on gas. Would have given 5 stars but pharmacy customer care not as good as it was a few years ago. Longer waiting times for prescriptions and staff members there dont have time for people now.
Kroger has really growing! They have a buffet of hot foods, a coffee shop, a wide variety of cheese and a salad bar. So many changes. I guess it is a good thing but personally I just want a grocery store that has good prices with healthy choices.
This is the best Kroger store in the area. It is a little larger than some and has many items that the other Krogers dont stock. It is well run. The produce department is really good. I drive 25min to shop at this store and I have another Kroger 15min away.
The floor staff is fantastic but the management is populated by arrogant f#@ks. They believe their success is due to them, when the truth is if any grocery store were to open near this one it would cut their business in half. If I walked into my store and saw a manager standing and watching while a customer bagged their own items because we were short staff you can bet they would no longer have a job.
I want to praise Dianne in the bakery.I came from Iowa to see my son who is a Grad Asst at Southern Illinois university. I gave her my idea to decorate a cake and she gets an A+..It was amazing and they loved it.Thank you Dianne at Kroger.😁
Stood in line for 20 minutes or more while one person I was cashing checks. Line did not move. Meanwhile, another Kroger associate stood around with nothing to do.
Good grocery store. Good selection for anything you want.Best part is the amount of $$$ you can save by utilizing the Kroger card/Kroger credit card.Especially in conjunction with the fuel.
Worth the trip for the some of the freshest fruits and vegetables in town.Edit: recent remodeling has widened the aisles, and the organic choices have been moved side by side with the regular choices - allowing for better comparison shopping. This Kroger also provides fresh sushi made daily in house, and is expanding with a soup bar in addition to the on-location Starbucks.
So much variety. i love this store! always good deals and the finest selection especially in the butchers shop and if they dont have it tell the manager they will do there best ti get that item for you.
He Starbucks in there is a joke
Very organized isles & reasonable prices ... Awesome discounts & sales on products constantly. I prefer getting my groceries at Kroger. I also love their pharmacy ....
Clean, with spacious layout. Great selection of traditional grocery items, as well as, a large salad bar and assortment of other prepared foods. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
The store has been mostly good after the renovations. Olive bar is decent. I hate waiting for the self check employee to check my ID, or what have you. They can be a little slow, especially at night. Same for the olive bar employees. Had to wait for lids, and then when I asked for one the ladies acted like their world was caving in on them. I was one of two customers, and the olive bar is self-service. Calm down ladies, and pay a little bit closer attention to detail.
This store is head and shoulders above the Walmart across the street. The renovations make it a much more appealing place to grocery shop and the staff is so much more friendlier and willing to help you find something than other stores Ive been to. I sometimes find myself wishing this store had a bigger selection, specifically in their pharmacy section, but I also find a lot of unique finds here. They also have local selections of wine and other goods.
This is my favorite Kroger. Decent health food section, great seafood/ meat counter. Probably the best selection as far as other Kroger locations in the area. Plus Kroger gives such great fuel point rewards.
Krogers has always been my favorite grocery shopping store. Thank you ladies @ cash register & bagging helps :) I am All Smiles Thank you Henry, I was astounded when you offered to unload my cart loaded to the max. Henry I hope The Managers Keep your service active :) As I spoke Im already wore out ! So thrilled for your man power muscle :) :) This is A 1st Time New Event !!! Thank you Everyone :)
Experience here can be touch and go depending on who is working that day. The younger employees are all very nice and helpful, always giving a smile and good fun conversation. Some of the older employees are rude and nasty. Two in particular that usually work self checkout would rather talk to other associates instead of helping with coupons or checking ids. If something rings up incorrectly they stare at you like youre supposed to go re-check the price instead of them. Forget about being helped if they see someone they know. The whole self checkout area gets ignored.
Great selection of groceries and the sushi is amazing here. The self check out on the grocery side needs a TON of improvement. The 2 older ladies maybe 50-60 that were there the day I went were extremely rude. I kept asking for help and they were to busy staring rudely and gossiping about a disabled lady with her service dog and her child being judgemental making that family uncomfortable. While I sat there waiting for one of them to atleast come check my ID so I could purchase wine. Wont be coming back for awhile so long as those ladies are creeping on people like that. Rude and clearly judgemental. Took about 15mins just to purchase wine and sushi. Please improve your self check outs customer service and sensitivity.
My husband loves the sushi bar. It is always fresh and tasty. I was hoping to get a slice if pizza but it was out :(
Im a huge fan of their sushi and cheese bar. I do have one complaint that takes aways a star. They only carry 3 of a diet product my diabetic husband likes. They are always out. Have been asked about this many times. We have to make a 2nd stop at Walmart to get what we need.
Great location, might be busy at times but lines move quickly. Almost always have what I need and are willing to make special orders is you ask.
Kroger is a very great full place to shop at as well as working for them, like i do as a courtesy clerk or cashier also.
I really enjoyed shopping at Kroger this evening. I got a lot of great deals, meat, veggies, fruits, & yogurt. Our cashier was super sweet & very attentive to our needs.
This is a Kroger in a college town. Decent produce and hot food selection. Sushi is acceptable being from a grocery store, its made fresh and frequently!
Google please change the store hours. They are open daily 6am -1am. Their hours changed months ago, NO LONGER 24 HOUR STORE.
Its an awesome store; the best in Carbondale for sure. One can usually find decent deals. Theres a Starbucks inside, they offer sushi, and have plenty of newly upgraded self-checkout lanes.
Very nice store. Friendly service, competitive prices.
Terri Wade was fast at the checkout lane and Kroger was extremely busy, well done for having employees like her
I love their new remodel. Also, service is great & I love their store. They have the nicest people whonwork there as well, they are so helpful!!
I was in and out not the Kroger that I go to usually, but was in the neighborhood so use it. Found it to be a nice Kroger and had just a little problem finding what I needed only because not familiar withthat store. Just wish there was no self check out lane in any store even in Wal-Mart too! They done pay me to check my own things I dont work there!
I have been thrilled theres a Sushi bar but it seems (now that the store is expanding) that commercialism has found its way in to the art of sushi. SAD - This post wont let me show a photo but I do NOT like eating gristle and fish scrap. Ill go next door to Fujiyamas and get carry out.
Huge selection, friendly people, prices arent bad if you have a rewards card (and its nice to get .30 off every gallon of gas!)
The remodeling is almost over and this store is on a whole new level. Love what there doing. Best grocery store around
Best grocery store of all time. Great selection of fruits/veggies, salad bar/deli, beer/wine and gluten free!!
Clean and friendly but not many selections of seafood and international foods. I was little disappointed. Because near university I thought more unique selections.
Clean. Well stocked. And great prices. Only bad thing is needs better workers. Workers not very smart about foods or their assigned job.
Everyone is very helpful when you ask for anything. Great deals and coupons if you sign up for the rewards program. Coffee place inside is meh. Pharmacy is great.
I ordered my son a spongebob full sheet cake from the website and went to pick it up it wasnt the cake I ordered the lady said she dont know why it was on the website then why is it on there and it was suppose to be whipped icing but they out buttercream on there I was very disappointed
Was easy to find what I needed. They have a Starbucks insidee which always makes anything better.
If using their online shopping, call ahead cause they wont call you to tell you they are running late! They should email/text people so they dont show up and have to wait. The whole point is saving the shopping time. Not wait at the store while someone does it for you!!
Going every week, the price is good, but the cashier service is not good.
Produce & bakery is so good & fresh. Store employees are friendly & helpful. Store is very clean & organized.
Probably the best mix of good selection and pricing on the area. A regular go-to.
Wonderful bakery/deli...flowers....fish market. The new fresh bars are great.
My visit @ Kroger were great plenty fresh Vegetables. Enjoyed. My Visit. Mr. Geno
Good selection, but pretty pricey.
UPDATE: 1* - DO NOT USE CLICKLIST SERVICE!The last two pick-ups we were given rotten fruit, and damaged products. They gave us 80 napkins, to substitute for 200 ordered. Went back to resolve, the gave us HIDEOUS dark green/blue napkins... seriously? We were supposed to get a $5.00 Kelloggs and Kraft rebate on the last two orders. Called because it wasnt on the receipt, they said too bad!Gave us wrong product, went back to return - again, told too bad, they arent taking refunds! This Kroger store has also given away our order to another customer - how does that even happen?!HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE...and the lead time on orders is 3 days! 3 days...We tend to go out of our way to shop at Carbondale Kroger - rather than our local Walmart Supercenter or Kroger, as the produce is fresher (not moldy REALLY helps), section is better, its more high end with fresh food bars, sushi, Starbucks...etc. The only area lacking is their fresh/deli style vegetarian non-meat items, which is disappointing.Their self-check is HORRIBLE, get in a regular lane, ppl are friendly and you dont have a machine yelling at you and making you frustrated/stressed.
They have all the groceries you could need and a Redbox machine. Almost everyone shops there, so youll most likely see at least 1 person you know.
Love the healthy choices! Far more selections than any other store in the area.
Went to drive up at pharmacy. Very helpful in getting medication I couldnt get elsewhere.
Best Kroger in Southern Illinois. Murphysboro, Herrin, Marion, Anna, etc. should be so lucky as to have a sushi bar in their stores.
Great selection and great products. For groceries, nothing beats Kroger.
If you care about hair products, this is the best place you can go to in a small city. Much cheaper than Walgreens.
Great store, great selection and super friendly and helpful team members always there to help.
They only had one non-self checkout open on a Saturday night. I will use self checkout when they give me a discount for their payroll savings.
Love Krogers, you can get most anything there without any hassles, have a Starbucks too ! Quickly in and out !Plus gas discounts & discounts !
Recently renovated, a pleasure to shop here. The sushi is amazing!
There is some Cracker Barrel Mac & cheese thats on clearance but has expiration dates ranging from 2017-2018, and Ive reported it to staff. Still on shelf. Gross.
Its nice sized store, has very nice employees, and the shelves are usually stocked.
Kroger in Carbondale is nice. Big store. Fair selection and also has Starbucks on sight so that a bonus.
Nice selection. Helpful staff. Constantly under construction.
Decent sized grocery with all the major supplies a family needs. Some specialty stuff including deli, bakery, and hot food section at certain times of day. A lot like a little deirbergs.
Theyre putting in a new huge salad bar, including tables and chairs! And theyre repaving and restriping the parking lot. There are more self-check out stations and fewer checker lanes - which Im not happy about. Im 70 years old and would rather chose a lane with a checker and bagger.
It was better before the remodel, in my opinion. It is no longer, to me, an enjoyable shopping experience. I go to Schnucks now instead, but was forced into this today due to time constraints
Since the renovations are complete, the shopping experience is so much nicer. Employees are very helpful and friendly.
Its a good, clean place. Usually something good on clearance, too.
Little pricey and organized strangely but one of the better grocery stores in the area.
Great variety of food and other items. Clean building. Friedly staff.Sushi is highly rated by locals.
Kroger, a great place to shop. Highly recommended!
Outside of wal mart..this is the next best thing...reward loyal shoppers with cheaper gas...
I couldnt believe all the cars there yesterday people way to close to many half no masks ... As a family who all has rare diseases and is at risk I got out saw the amount of people not listening to science backed regulations and said nope not today covid...
It has so much more than the Murphy Kroger but parking isnt fun especially with the way the gas station parking is designed. otherwise I do choose Kroger over any other grocery store and love the benefits of the Kroger card
Great improvements have been made. Need a second bathroom where the new Starbucks and dining is
First time using ClickList & no issues to report. In fact, I missed my scheduled 0900hrs p/u time & they rescheduled me for later in the day - just perfect for a drive home from work pick up.
I had stopped here on Mothers Day to pick up some flowers. The lady working the florist counter was exceptionally nice.
Great prices on food if you use kroger card
Can usually find really good deals and is open 24 hours which is really nice
Love going here rather it be for gas, the pharmacy or to shop. Always great deals and wonderful staff
