Decent selection, but dont have some of what Ive needed as far as cooking goes

Great selection and all but what is up with the service mike completely seemed uninterested in helping me at all. he’s rude and mumbles things under his breath. college kids these days.

Terrible people working they are messing with the paper and plastic bags making them rip which makes your drinks fall. I was carrying a bag that was double layered I only had two drinks and the bag rip and broke on the ground came back in and the people said “oh well”. I bought more and asked for a plastic bag this time and by the time I got home after the bags only being in my car the paper bag ripped again and the plastic bag started to tear. I would not recommend getting either of the bags because you might be wasting your money. I would have giving it a 0 or .5 star but I couldn’t.

The staff were a pleasure to work with. They spent about 15 minutes discussing bourbon and beer options. Was never pressured to buy or rushed. They have an excellent selection with multiple store picks. Will definitely be coming back!

My wife and I went there the weekend before the bar closed. for me it was the first time visit, for her it was the first time she had been back in 10 years. It was enjoyable, and drinks werent too expensive, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Cant ask for much more than that

Pinch Penny is a good place to get a beer or mixed drink, and food (they offer a full menu with burgers and chicken options). They also have a nice tree-shaded beer garden with an outside bar and live music on the weekends.One thing that I dont like is that they only allow one credit card tab per table. Everyone else at the table has to pay cash.

Best place to get craft beer in town. Prices are slightly higher than Westroads so if you are wanting something fairly standard (Bells, standard DFH, Bells, etc) then Pinch might not fit the bill. It is the only place that consistently has Avery high gravity singles, Bruery, rarer DFH, quite a bit of 3F, large selection of canned craft, decent selection of sours and ciders, and more. Staff is pleasant and the store is always clean, well lit, and nice to browse. Plenty of cold beer and a good selection of spirits and wine. If youre looking to try something new, Pinch will definitely have something in stock that you havent had before.

We went on the Friday before the eclipse. There was live music and a nice atmosphere. Not too crowded bit still enjoyable.

They have good food & make good drinks but if u want friendly service DO NOT stop by this place. I have witnessed the manager go off on a customer in a very rude & unprofessional manner in front of the whole bar. Most of the staff is rude & dont have any regard for paying customers. Try levels or underground if u want exceptional service

One of the best sports bars in Carbondale, with the best beer garden. If you come for the annual polar bear (and you should), ask for the Mike and Joe special. You wont be disappointed.

Extremely RUDE staff, who are on power trips. Trent, the bar manager needs to remember just because you are in a college town doesnt mean you have an automatic right to be rude to a customer. Not everyone is trying to sneak in underage. If you want to be treated with respect I suggest you frequent bars who respect their customers, such as The Rome in Murphysboro.Extremely disappointed- wont be coming back.

I always enjoy the food here and its a fun place to hang out, but the staff has always been very hit or miss since the day I first came here four years ago. However, I will say that one of my all time favorite waitresses worked at this joint for a short time, but she was a special one. There have been too many times that I had to wait for ages to be served. Ive even had to blatantly leave and eat at Saluki Bar a few times because the service was that bad. Id eat here all the time if majority of the waitresses were cool, but it seems like theres 5 sucky ones between every cool one. So rarely eat here, unless I have too much time on my hands.

Ive been to Pinch Penny several times now and usually end up buying wine. I think there is a good selection of wine here and there is consistent change in the selection upon restocking, which I also find wonderful in that I can always find something new I might want to buy. My issue, however, is that often times when I do buy something I enjoy and have had previously or when I am buying something new, the bottles taste quite off as if something is wrong. Ive had this issue with a $30+ Cabernet Franc, two $20 Cabernet Sauvignons, a $30 Syrah, and recently a $20 Malbec. Im not sure what the issue is, but its certainly frustrating. A wide selection and changing selection is only good if the product is good.

Nice place when no ones there. Not so much when a lot are there. But when its nice to be there they have slower then normal service.

We called ahead to see if they had the product in stock before we even went they said they had 6 bottles in stock....when we arrived not only did they not have it the night manager told use to look in the whiskey isle and then told us just cause it is in computer doesnt meab they have it...he wouldnt help us try to locate it and futher told us he knows nothing about alcohol to help us...when i tried to ask about helping with getting something that was compatible he was rude and was of no help.....needless to say we will NOT RETURN WE WILL TAKE OUR BUSINESS TO WAREHOUSE LIQUOR

Venue has a rather large outdoor area with an outdoor full service bar, in addition to the indoor seating area and indoor bar. Both have plenty of entertainment including lots televisions, stage for live music, and a games arcade. The staff are friendly and professional. A Large presence of security/bouncers at all the exit and throughout the bar provide a safe environment for those looking to have fun without worrying about the trouble and danger night life can bring. They are not pushy at all and remain in the shadows until they are needed. Actually one of the most professional group of bouncers I have ever seen. Police patrol the parking lots and the surrounding areas regularly, but again, leave you alone until they are actually needed.Food is absolutely delicious and goes beyond the usual bar food.Overall, great location, professional staff, delicious food and drinks, a must visit location!

Reviews of 5 stars given by staff. Its a bad place where the management has seen thousands of colleges young people coming in as its close but they quit trying to be a good place of business.

My husband and I are new to the area by a few months. We found the Pinch Penny on our first visit to the area. We were welcomed by the door guy outside with a nice greeting and he recognized we were from out of state. When we returned some weeks later he remembered us again. Since then we have become regular customers of the Pub. The food is always consistent, hot and good for the menu served. The prices are extremely good. The Pinch Penny caters to a mulititude of ages and types of guests, which in my experience is a difficult thing to do and do well. But obvously Frank and sons know thier stuff! The beer selections are always wide and they run amazing specials.But.....the best thing about Pinch Penny is the staff. From the door guys to the gals on the floor waiting tables and especially the bar staff the service is great. They work as a team like a big family. We are welcomed by everyone Trenton rocks, Danny, Dane, Shawn they are great. Thanks for helping make our move to the area a great experience. Your community should thank you for the great job youve done serving Carbondale for 40 years. Thats tough in this current economy.

The pizza was fantastic! It was thin and crispy. It was a slow, rainy, sunday, summer night which is the worst time to be at a college bar, but we had a great bartender and great service.

Always fun. Its not the cleanest place but I would not expect a college bar to ever be the cleanest place.

I bought a bottle of wine tonight. When opening the bottle, the top shattered. When I tried to return the bottle, the manager said there was nothing he could do. The customer service here is terrible. A business should stand behind their products.
