Stopped in to try it out and thanks to Johns patience we were able to take our time, make our choices, and then enjoy our treats. I strongly recommend the custard but they do have other options for different dietary restrictions.There are plenty of combinations of ingredients that you could mix in to get your taste just the way you like it. I will also point out that, the process of creating this wonderful treat is a skill set. I was thoroughly impressed with the way in which this is created and how wonderful it tastes.

Last night was my second and final visit to this location of Sub Zero! We ordered two vegan base ice cream creations and it was very clear the teenager mixing was clueless about which milk was vegan, syrup types and amounts! We ended up with two flavorless icy liquids. The two teens at the register were super unhelpful in figuring out what could’ve gone wrong and stuck by their policy of no remaking a creation, even though it was CLEARLY not mixed or frozen properly.Our first visit was a very different experience. The vegan base ice cream was creamy and flavorful true to the creation we both made! The inconsistency in who mixes and freezes your creation makes all the differences. The first two pictures are what we got last night, the third picture is what I got on our first visit. Huge difference! I threw mine in the trash it was not worth the calories.I know it’s hard to find good help these days but the teens working at 8:30 pm on 8/3/21 were terrible! They need to be re-trained and get some lessons in customer service. It was obvious it was close to closing time and they would rather have been anywhere but at Sub Zero.My advice is go to the Rita’s across the street!

The staff was so kind and helpful and willing to explain how the process works. They were able to make recommendations for what menu items would be something we would like (they highly recommend the custard, as do I!) Now for the ice cream itself. It was hands down the absolute best ice cream I’ve had in so long! They had incredible flavors and mix in options. I had brownie batter custard with brownie pieces and cheesecake. Hubby got the cheesecake custard with Oreo pieces. It was a bit pricey but so worth it!!!

Very fun to watch them make the ice cream right in front of you, very original concept. Ice cream tasted pretty good but the mint flavor that I ordered was a bit strong. Interior and staff were really friendly and clean.

This was my first time to this location.Service was cheerful & friendly. Shop was clean and appealing. The ice cream was just as amazing as the other locations. I highly recommend them. Bring the kids they love to watch the nitrogen mist over the counter as its being made!

Was excited to try Sub Zero out as I had been out of town and had gotten the very best No Sugar Lemon Ice cream at a different business. I was not upset that it took multiple attempts to turn it into ice cream. But when I tasted the very fake taste of lemon, and inquired with the employee about it, he quickly shared that ALL their flavoring is artificial. That explained why the lemon ice cream tasted like what one might associate eating lemon furniture polish to. I know that much of our food industry uses artificial flavoring, which doesnt mean it tastes good or most importantly is good for us, I was simply disappointed that this establishment is not a place I will be visiting ever again for the occasional ice cream treat.

The owner John was very helpful, I had a big order and he took his time, and made sure my order was absolutely perfect. I had went to other locations, and they always messed up my order, but I absolutely love this location . Not only do they give great customer, their ice cream is delicious! One of their team members Harrison was also great !

This is a very unique experience and the ice cream is AMAZING!!!!! Just keep this in mind, the sizes are VERY generous, I usually get a small ans in stuffed! Dont bother trying to order all kinds of crazy stuff like this is your local DQ. Sub Zero has the formula down and they WILL satisfy your sweet tooth! Its VERY popular, bring your patience because you will likely have to wait in line. My favorite place to get dessert!

Pretty good, texture is a little odd at times. Great refresher is it had been a hot one outside! Usually busy if its nice outside! Hit the Moon trail and drop in for a sweet treat!

Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve had mint chocolate chip ice cream??? I’m lactose intolerant. Walking into a place being allowed to order anything on the menu is heaven! They have the ability to make anything dairy free. So my whole family can find something here. And it’s all delicious! So, so good!

Gluten & lactose free options! The staff was super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They were busy today but the line moved quick.

We really enjoyed the experience at Sub zero, however we try to avoid food additives and dyes and there are a ton in their food. That said, the ice cream starts as liquid and the kids got to watch the liquid nitrogen turn it to ice cream. The experience itself was really fun and my daughters loved it, so if food additives dont bother you it would definitely be worth a visit.

Not just dessert its an experience. So cool to watch your ingredients mixed in the bowl and the fog roll across the counter as your yummy concoction is made before your eyes. Plenty of combinations or design your own mix

The first time we had sub zero we were in Texas I believe. It was amazing and such a cool process! We raved about that ice cream and wished we had it back home. So, we went searching on Google. To our surprise they had it back home. We were very glad to read that. We travel up from the south side to go here. The staff is always friendly. The ice cream is so good. Im still amazed at the whole process of how they make it in front of your eyes. I need this set up at home, actually no I dont Id be eating ice cream every day. I wish they would open one up closer to us, like in Greenwood.

Our party experienced poor customer service last time we went. The owner got right back to me to rectify the problem. He genuinely cared about our experience there. We will definitely go back because the vegan ice cream is the best and worth the trip and they do care about their customers.

Managers are rude 👍 and give people a hard time when they can’t show up for work for an emergency so they will fire you. but if you’re sick they won’t fire you.

The ice cream was the perfect consistency. The lady who made our ice cream was polite and explained the whole process to us. Its also a great price; a great place for everyone in the family!

My 8 year old daughter and I made the 2 mile bike trip to check this place out and it was well worth the effort! The staff was very friendly and welcoming and gave us a step by step description of the flash freezing process while processing our order. The finished product was delicious and we will be back again!

I had a group stop in for my sons 30th Birthday. Great place for everyone to get what they like. They even have almond milk for lactose intolerance and a natural sweetener to help diabetes not get too crazy readings. Lots of room for social distancing and the staff was AWESOME!!!!

Love love love it! I even tried the lowfat cream and it just made it smoother than the regular. Weve been 4 times now and the Nitrogen blast has not gotten old. Our kid loves it more than the ice cream. We were big coldstone fans before but for the same price and cool effects we will keep coming back!

Gets two stars for the science factor. The kids enjoyed watching it being made. Otherwise, it tasted bad and was super expensive. Perhaps there was too much flavoring added to the mix and that would have helped.

The ice cream is really good (even the lactose free!) and theres a good amount of toppings and flavours. The line was pretty long and slow moving, and theres not only a small amount of seating, but no restroom inside, so you may want to plan somewhere else to eat it.

I got the coffee ice cream. It wasnt bad just kind of had a weird texture. We also got the banana ice cream and it was much better. Could have just been a weird batch.

The staff was so friendly!! The 2 workers that were working when me and my boyfriend went in today recommenced the lactose free ice cream and I loved it!! The manager helped us and made sure we had a great experience and made sure we were happy with what we ordered. Such good ice cream! And, it is so cool that they make it with liquid nitrogen right there in front of you! And, of course the location in downtown Carmel just makes it more lovable and charming. I am knocking it one star though because the people that made our ice cream were kind of standoffish and quiet. They werent rude but definitely were not easy to make conversation with. Otherwise, a great experience! :)

Interesting place. Choose a flavor, choose an add in. You can get lactose or dairy free cream and they do have gluten free options.If you want a suggestion - coconut ice cream with Oreo will change your life. I have been ruined to all other forms of ice cream forever.

Visited by mistake when my 8 yr old thought it was a different ice cream shop. Walked in disappointed about the mistake. Walked out with a new favorite ice cream shop (and believe me...the bar was high). Best ice cream ever, clean, friendly staff and very cool process to watch. Great décor. SO GLAD we stopped. My son recommended we go here for my daughters birthday because she is vegan. It was amazing! Luckily when we arrived the line was not very long but it quickly went out the door. The kids loved watching it being made and it was very good. They also serve smoothies.

Super gimmicky, but the ice cream was very good. Many first-time patrons will see unlimited flavors for the base of the ice cream and try to add in 5 or so. Big mistake and you will wish you chose fewer. Keep the flavor combinations simple and enjoy the very potent flavors/mix-ins as they stand. It will already be the richest ice cream youve probably experienced. Dont overdo it.Price was a bit higher than Id hoped, staying on the higher end of what Id consider worth it as an ice cream connoisseur. That said, youre clearly paying for the gimmick of liquid nitrogen cooling, much like you are at Coldstone for the mix-your-own ice cream.

It is very challenging to find dairy free ice cream near me that is not sorbet. So discovering Sub Zero was a dream come true!! First of all they have a lot of selection just when it comes to ice cream not including what you can mix in. They have regular ice cream, sugar free, lactose free and vegan! My husband tried the birthday cake mix in a waffle cone and loved it! I got the Vegan ice cream with rainbow sprinkles and m & ms. It was delicious! I was thrilled to have ice cream again and watching the liquid nitrogen freezing, making the milk freeze was pretty darn cool! Must go back!!

Cool place and pretty great ice cream. On my first visit, they couldn’t accept my debit card because their machine kept declining it. I had no other form of payment, so I had to give them back the ice cream I had ordered. I understand that sometimes equipment can be an issue but it was very disappointing for my first time and I ended up having to share with my friend. I went back about a week later to give it another shot and the staff was much more friendly and I had a much better experience. Now I would recommend this to anyone because they offer great ice cream to meet the needs of almost anyone’s diet and even though it’s a more on the expensive side, it is worth it.

My general rule of thumb is that any place, no matter what the business, with this many options, can’t be that good. I felt a little gross watching the “coffee” flavor got shot out of a pump. Generally, it was too sweet and the consistency was really odd, almost granular. I had a fantastic local nitrogen ice cream place where I lived and this felt like a cheap imitation.

Came to Carmel for house hunting. Thought Sub zero ice cream would be great. Asked for butter scotch scotch with pecans. Pecans were really rancid, so complained. The immediately made another one with different nuts.

Horrible experience! The girls behind the counter cared very little about their jobs. Very unprofessional. I was with a friend, we both ordered, my friends ice cream came out decent (waffle bowl ended up being stale) the bleach blonde haired girl who attempted to make mine spent no time folding the liquid into the ice cream. The ice cream never formed. She used a large spoon to scoop a soup like consistency sloppy mess into my bowl and actually slid it down the counter as if it had been properly made. I told the cashier, that the ice cream had not been made properly. Which was extremely obvious as there was no formed ice cream in the bowl! The cashier was dancing to the music, talking to other people. She did not offer to have my order remade or offer to give my money back. I should have gotten my money back, as the first trash can I saw I threw the entire bowl away. I am about the same age as the young girls that were working and I can honestly say I now know why people dislike millennials. Their disrespect and utter lack or care was absurd and embarrassing. Note to owner: hire people who care and who can do this very simple job properly. Your business is in a prime area, do not let it be ruined by young people who do not care when there are so many great young people who would do your business proud.

The entire family loves this place. They have options for many types of diet restrictions. Also watching the process of them making the icecream is very cool and something the kids never tire of doing.

The young man up front can use help with customer service skills. When patrons come in, ideally you say Hello, How can I help you? He just stared at me and I had to ask him if he was ready to take my order.

This was our first visit. They have an amazing selection of flavors and mixins and toppings. They put the liquid ingredients in a big stainless steel bowl, add the mixins and then blast the bowl with sub zero nitrogen. While it is chilling the servers are mixing and stirring constantly. In a minute or two, you have freshly made ice cream. Or, as in our case, frozen custard. One could also choose frozen yogurt. It was really good. With tax and a small tip it came out to around $10 for two of the small cups. They also offer freshly made waffle cones. We will have to try those on a future visit. We will go back again.

Great as usual. My favorite flavor combination so far is marshmallow with strawberry and oreo toppings. And the vegan cream base is great.

Novelty ice cream but a little bit pricy and Im fine with good scooped ice cream such as Handels

Line Is too long. Novelty of nitrogen is neat and ice cream is better than average but total disorganization. I bought a chocolate cone for my kid at the beginning of the ordering process after 20 mins in line. By the time we got to the cash register 10 mins later they brought it to her in a cup. When we told the kid running the register that had just charged us for the chocolate cone that ourDaughter asked for a chocolate cone and we had just paid for it when she charged us for it(I guess she didnt realize this) she walked over and came back and said no cones. Wow

Best ice cream ever!!! Long line on the weekend but really worth the wait. Sometime the high school staff wasnt able to get all the overall in the mixing bowl into the cup and its a bit sad seeing all thats goodness go wasted. But oh well!!!
