This place was great! Bought my first handgun here. Both gentlemen were very nice and knowledgeable. And for the bad reviews on here simply for there political views, yall need to mind your damn business. You dont like it? Simple, dont shop there. But my experience was absolutely fantastic.

Best gun shop in DFW. Larry and his team did a great job repairing multiple shotguns I own.They also completed extensive work to a long distance rifle I own and I couldn’t be a happier with the outcome!They provide a keen attention to detail and great customer service.Give this great local business a chance if you or anyone you know is interested in purchasing a firearm or repair work and you will not be disappointed.The small amount of negative reviews really can hurt a great place like this.Someone upset that a local business won’t sell all it’s 9mm rounds to a single customer as they are closing is far more likely to leave a bad review for no reason other than spite.

So, I normally don’t do this, but after my experience with SPS guns in Carrollton, TX, I feel the need the let the community know how I was treated. About 10 months ago, I dropped off my AR 12 gauge for a simple repair. Mud had gotten into the grip, so I took it off to clean it, but it stripped when I tried to reconnect it. I ended up finding this gunsmith in Carrollton. The owner told me it was a simple repair but it would take him a month before he could get to it. He quoted me $50-$150 for the whole repair. I agreed and left my gun with him. Over the next 9-10 months, I was patient...only calling a few times for updates because I never got any communication from them. About 3 weeks ago I walked into the shop and one of the workers told me the part finally came in(which they told me 2x before) and that my repair was next. So I waited again. This past week I called to find out if it was done and they said they haven’t started the repair. I told them to cancel the repair and that I would be in to pick up the gun the next day. They said ok. The next day I get a voicemail from the same worker stating that the owner finally finished the repair and that I can come get the gun. They said I owed $400 which is what I paid for the gun in the first place.. they had quoted me 50-150, then charged me $400 after I cancelled the order. They told me 1 month, but it took them almost 10. Then as soon as I cancel, then within 24 hours al of a sudden he has time to do repair. I went into the shop two days ago. The owner tells me he will knock $100 off due to the circumstances but that still made the repair more than double what he quoted and completely ignored the fact that I cancelled the deal the day before. I told him that he can either give me the e completed gun for $200 or take the replacement part off and just give me my gun back. He finally decided to give me the gun for $200 after negotiating for 5 minutes. Then, he said you can have it for 200 as long as you never come back into my store. I said fine and reached for my shotgun on the counter which didn’t even have a clip in in. He yelled stop and put his hand on his carry like he was going pull on me. On my way out I said “how do you sleep at night” and he said he sleeps just fine. I said like only a conman could.He starts laughing, name calling and said you must be a Democrat on my way out.The more I think about how this man and business handled this entire situation, convinces me even more that HE IS A TRUE CONMAN

When i had gone, had a nice experience, all the bad reviews are due to the guys working there being old, they had that spot for 30 years and it seems like its just those two extremely old buds are the only ones working there, they are bad at hearing so i can see alot of the bad reviews actually happening due to stubbornness and miscommunication, i went there in person, asking for a handgun, bought a glock and left in about 10 minutes, decent selection of weapons, ok pricesOnly thing is that they are very open about being trump supporters, being a person of color, didnt feel threatened in any way or treated any less than i should have.

I was hesitant because of the reviews, but I went anyway and had a great experience! I did not experience what the other reviewers did; I received respect, laughter, and good advice/lessons.I called for a Glock 43 (I called like all of dallas) and SPS had one available. Sam answered and he was polite and I asked him to hold it for me. I called back two more times to confirm a few things and he answered right away and was kind.I arrived at SPS and I was greeted by Larry and he was very helpful and truthful. He said someone else called about the 43, but he said it was already on hold for someone. He said he takes people at their word and I think thats a rare commodity these days with many people being flakey.He told some enjoyable stories and we shared some laughs with a long time customer Keith. Larry said he wants to earn my business and that he has. He gave me some tips on what to look for when buying guns that was very helpful.I will definitely be back!

I’m honestly a bit shocked by a lot of these bad reviews because my own personal experience was great! Super friendly owner (Larry) and employee’s who know what they are doing. Walking into the shop to buy my first handgun (Slim pickings at the moment thanks to COVID) but still found one I liked and never felt pressured to spend more on anything... they were helpful and knowledgeable and friendly. Before leaving I asked Larry (Owner) about 6.5 Creedmoor rifles (Intended as a quick question) and we ended up having a really good long discussion...Because of that and many other little things it just felt like I had been a long time regular customer and friend.

BEWARE!!!! I went with a friend to buy two rifles from this store and they asked us for a $300 deposit in cash for both of us when we went to pick them up, they asked us for the rest of the cash payment but they still couldnt deliver them. Then when we went for them, they had the wrong rifles and they told us that it was those we asked for and obviously decided to return them but that the reimbursement would be between 3 and 5 days. In the end, the gentleman with his very HARD face tells us that the disaster was ours and thats why they put a surcharge of something more than $150, all of this when we asked if they had the rifles with every specification to our suggestions. And if we wanted the rifle we had to wait four months to make it and order it

Crooks. I waited four months for my gun to be repaired only to have to come and get while still broken and pay them money to pick it up.Every time I called they said nothing except its still in queue with no timeline.Dont come here for repairs or youll regret it.Update: I went elsewhere and they fixed the gun on the spot in 10 minutes and didnt even charge me. What a world of difference.

Larry Gresham is the most honest and customer service oriented person I’ve encountered! He assists with questions and helps freely with advise and assistance. His winning personality and great stories are also what makes a visit to see him a great experience.

Overcharged for a 9mm pistol ! The going rate was around $500 and the owner charged me $600. Never go back again !

Went there a week ago. Bought two clips for my Ruger pc9 which there was only one in Texas after 10 calls to other places. So ok. Ruger gives one clip w/ the pc9. 3 days later I bought 2 clips. Turns out they were the wrong ones. I didnt have receipt or the container they came in. I took them back and Larry took them back as I bought 2 more of the right clip. These guys are still the greatest old school company that still holds feet to the fire. This company will very well have hard to find firearm components. These guys are my go to. Not academy sports which has nothing. Probably at the rule of of top brass just like bass pro which I used to work for. Brass controls what they have or not. Sps is some really great guys. Larry ✌️ brother.

If you’ve got questions, these guys have answers! They know their stuff and are happy to make sure you get it right. This is no stand in line big box store or high pressure sales force. Just some guys that know a thing or two about any pistol, rifle, or shotgun you’ve ever heard of. Nice doing business with nice people.

Wow, bad customer options dont make them change their Modbus operanding. I ordered a rifle and pre-paid, but the specs were wrong. When it is not in accordance with the delivery, they charge me 20% of the value of my deposit. In this way, a lot of money is earned, leaving the customer without the order placed and very upset. It is definitely not pleasant to visit them.

My brother had recently had his apartment broken into and got pistol whipped and kicked in the face numerous times. recently gotten out of the hospital, felt he needed some safety. we went to some pawn shops, and they wouldnt even allow us to look at the price because of how my brothers face looked. he got turned down even after offering police reports and hospital bills to clarify. after this my brother and i went to SPS guns and were completely at peace. they were completely understanding of his situation and werent quick to judge. the selection was like no other and besides that they gave us everything we needed. responded positively and were happy to help. also offered sharpening of the blade anytime at needed! definitely coming back for my brother and considering getting me one as well.

Just know they cant stop people of color from coming in the store..However you are certainly not gonna be treated fairly..If there was a such thing as negative STAR they would definitely get it TISTECAR

Been doing business with Larry at SPS since 1992. Have bought and traded many guns with him and had a number of trigger jobs, scope install and repairs done over the years. He is among the most knowledgeable and competent gunsmiths and shooters you are likely to find in the country. He has always been fair with me and all the folks Ive referred and he stands behind his work.

I went in to have some front and rear sights put on two of my handguns. They got the work done in 20 minutes!! Very pleased and Im going to see them again soon to have my M&P Shield night sights put on...

I would have to give this place 3 and a 1/2 stars I would give it more but some things are bit overpriced They have a wide selection of reloading ammo and accessories as well as firearms friendly staff would recommend

Holy cow these guys are terrible ! Went in there to buy some things and handed them my 1911 to have the trigger weight checked. Guy takes it back, says 4 pounds from the back room and asks who worked on it. As I start to tell him, no one, Id just been wondering what it was set to I hear these banging noises. I yell back there, hey, HEY ! I just want the trigger weight checked ! BaNG !! He came out after about a minute and I was left wondering what the hell hed been doing. Get home ... Im missing the front tritium sight !!!!! The sight was there but it was just a white dot, not tritium. Absolute crooks. Not buying squat from these yahoos again.

The two older gentlemen were very friendly, Larry the owner was a sexist pig. I never left the store with the gun and still got charged $100. Way over priced.

Charged me 20% (restocking fee? Haha)of half the deposit on a gun that was on backorder. They never ordered the gun and they didnt tell me it was on backorder before they took my money. Also, they cut me a check. Get updated with the times, and stop ripping people off.

Guys definitely know their stuff but will belittle new gun owners, and visitors to their store. Also very uncomfortable just being around any of them.

The one old guy that help me seem to be nice said that the price was going to be 125 if nothing was wrong with it to $178 and up depending on whats broken they call me up 45 minutes later tell me that it was put together wrong its gonna cost $178 I said what happened to the $125 if nothing was broken the guy said that he charged me for shop materials 50 bucks or something plus theres no time that theyre open they go in there whenever they feel like it the worst gun shop place I have ever been to in my life I will never go back there again

Wanted me to drop off for three days and its only 10 minutes of work and wanted to charge me a full hour of labor. Hell, he talked my ear off for longer than it would have taken to do the job. For that price and time frame, I ordered the tool and did it myself for half the price. Ive bought items there before and sure I paid a little more but I like to support small business. I go elsewhere from now on.

So I didnt have a clue or the tools to mount a scope on my 30-30.SPS did it there on the spot while I waited. I enjoyed sitting around listening to the 3 gents chit-chatting. Good group of guys with a good sense of humor. Not afraid to speak their minds. Its the kind of place I would enjoy just hanging out listening toem talk and have some good laughs. Unfortunately cant remember their names but their workmanship looks great. Paid $150 for the mount which probably seems high, and now that I have seen what is done to mount the rifle, I see I could have easily done it myself (just need to get the tools). But I have no problem whatsoever with what I paid to have it done right, all the while enjoying their company while I waited. Also, they were very gracious to answer all my questions, showing patience recognizing that Im a noob. Ill be sure to take all future business to SPS and will recommend to my friends.

Owner ok, but his employee - either buy something now or get out. Im not comfortable going in there .

Great service. My trigger was not reseting properly only took a couple of minutes for them to repair it.

Had to take my gun in I broke a pin for the decocking. $297.58 later he fixed it. Can you say way over priced.

Larry is an old time hustler who offers very little money/credit for your used guns also the rates for gun repair are outrageous. They are not your friends when it comes to sales and repair. Look elsewhere!!!
