I am very disappointed how they tried to take advantage of my daughter and her car issues. Wanting to charge at least double of what was actually needed to be done. It is sad to see someone who puts a Christian symbol on their web site and has a business next to a college and attempts to trick unknowing college students into repair costs that are not needed.

I had an issue with my Chevy Cruze a few months back and found Ericson Automotive to be a 10/10 experience. Chuck was very informative and prompt in dealing with my sensor issue. The price was more than fair and I highly recommend his business to anybody in the Cedar Falls area.

Chuck was super negotiable and showed me what was wrong with my car since I don’t know much about cars. He had my car done in the same day fairly quick and even gave me back my old parts. Super nice guy too!

I called this guy and asked if he would give me a tow and he just straight up refused. Said he was too busy and hung up on me. Never seen such terrible service in my whole life.

We just got home to Pennsylvania from Cedar Falls, Iowa. This would not have been possible if it were not for Chuck. Our van engine check light came on over the Fourth of July weekend, while visiting our daughter in Iowa. Businesses were closed. We called Ericson Automotive at 8 am on July 5th and Chuck gave us an appointment at 10:30 am. He diagnosed our van with 2 bad ignition coils and one improperly installed injector. We were impressed that Chuck had the parts at his shop and fixed our van in about an hour and a half. This was a nice surprise. Most of the time, we have to drop off a vehicle and then they diagnose the problem, order parts, wait for the parts to arrive and finally fix it. It takes the whole day. But, Chuck had everything there and didnt waste any time getting us back on the road. We drove the 768 miles home yesterday with a smooth running engine. No problems at all. Chuck is a very accomplished, qualified, skilled mechanic who takes great pride in his work. Fantastic service and great price too! We were very happy to wait in his waiting room and especially thankful he was willing to help us!

I talked to the owner of the place and he sounded like he didn’t want to be there. When I asked what the total cost, he wouldn’t give me an answer. you will just get screwed over and they don’t give you much information. Very unprofessional and dishonest, this place is rated at 3 stars out of five for a reason. Don’t waste your time on a poorly rated shop like this.

Chuck went far out of his way to replace an alternator for us on a weekend when our car broke down on the highway near Cedar Falls. Friendly, easy to work with, had the repair done when he had promised. Thanks again!

I called for a intake gasket to get repaired. I asked for an estimate, and the guy refused to give it to me. I would stay away from this business. They’re one of those shady mechanics who tries to get more money out of you. Like half the auto servicing places around the area. Seriously it’s 2019 and everything is accessible in terms of pricing and where to buy parts. If you can’t give an estimate; something shady is going on.

Very knowledgeable. My number one go-to for car troubles. He can always explain to me what went wrong and how he fixed it.

Chuck answered my questions after hours and was able to diagnose and and fix the problem the next day for a very fair price.

I highly would NOT recommend this place! I wasted so much time and money. At one point my car battery was removed without my permission and replaced with an older battery, not sure if that older battery that was placed (unconnected and all) even worked. All in all I had a super bad experience at this place and would never recommend it to anyone. Also when I wrote my first review expressing my awful experience, Chuck ( the owner) called me asking me to take it down, otherwise he would sue for slander. I talked to my own attorney and turns out he cant do that if its based off what I went through and just telling the truth! Anyways, I hope this was helpful and dont be afraid to speak your truth in any situations!

Older man has poor attitude. Came off grumpy. Was very mean to a young employee working. I did not like my experience there felt like a trashy junkyard. I didn’t have any work done there. I will not go back and do not recommend.

Took my car in on a sunday night and had my bumper fixed by monday afternoon, very timely service. Flexible and easy to work with, will be recommending to my friends and family!

In case anybody is interested, this business supports Donald Trump. They have a Trump sticker on the front door. I know they wont be receiving a single dime from ME, personally. Hope this helps you decide on a mechanic.

They say they are open 24 hrs a day i called them because i was stranded and having tire problems. All i needed for them was to pop my tire off the bead . I explained my situtation and the guy told me he wanted $150 to do a two minute job that involved no labor . I felt they were trying to take advantage of me and my desprate situtation . I would never do buisness with a place that would take such advantage of a persons misfourtane .

Chuck has worked on my vehicles for 5 years and saved me time and money! If you are looking for a dependable mechanic that will be honest and have your best interest in mind, give him a call!

We were in a bind with my daughters car and had it towed here. Definitely wont go back. He made it very clear that he did not like her Hyundai. In fact when I called him first thing he said oh you mean the piece of $4&# Korean car. Mmmm. Dont go here.

*Avoid this place at all costs*One of my tires blew out on University Avenue the other day. I called two local towing companies, but due to the extreme cold weather that hit the Cedar Valley, the companies were completely booked and could not service me. Exasperated and with no other options, I called Ericsson Automotive in hopes that I would get the help I needed.I asked the man that answered the phone, presumably the owner, if he did vehicle tows; he said he did them “every day”. So I explained to him my situation: that I was not even a BLOCK AWAY, (I could see Ericson Automotive from my disabled vehicle), that the cops were behind me rerouting the busy road so as not to cause an accident, and asked if he could tow me 8 miles up the road to Discount Tire. He told me, and I quote, “I’m... not interested at all.” Taken aback, I proceeded to ask “Okay, well what can I do to get you interested?” but received no response. I checked my phone to be sure I was still on the call, but found that the man had hung up on me without even waiting for me to respond!Completely un-professional behavior, and why would you ever want to take your vehicle to a business that won’t help a local out in a dire situation, when the vehicle is less than 45 seconds away from the building? DO NOT solicit this business, call ANYONE else first.

Chuck will take advantage of you anyway he can. He is difficult to communicate with and refuses to return phone calls.He adds charges to your final bill without prior communication.He may or may not actually perform the work he says he does. There was no evidence that he did any diagnostics. The only clue that he did any work was that the vehicle was moved from one spot to another.His receipt is not itemized and his prices are not posted.Even if you are stranded, I would call ANYONE else to help you.

Took my Honda to get fixed . Another problem popped up. Took it back and he tries to get me to sell my Honda to him for cheap. Pretty sketchy. Will not go back.

Just had my daughters 2007 Honda Fit serviced due to unexpected engine issue. Do to this facility being close to UNI and the ability of my daughter to drop it off between classes I called and spoke to Chuck. He told me he would be able to look at the car in at 9am. I was impressed that he called and told me he would be finish with the repair by 12pm. He diagnosed and discovered a bad spark plug coil needed to be replaced and he also replaced all 4 spark plugs due to the high-mileage on the car and their condition. With my past experience with dealerships and other shops the rates for this service and time spent on the repair was less than I expected! With auto repairs and parts you need to expect to pay for repairs when they happen. Chuck is a skilled mechanic with many years experience and went above in beyond in servicing my daughters vehicle!!! I will definitely use him in the future if any other issues come up.

Ive had my cars serviced at Ericson Automotive for the 22 years Ive lived in Cedar Falls. I also purchased one car from Chuck Ericson. I have always been happy with the service and the prices. Ive found Chuck Ericson invariably kind and helpful. Hes even driven to the next town over to pick up my car when a tire blew at 8 p.m. on an evening when it was -20 degrees Farenheit. I especially appreciate that hes willing to do the kind of repairs the customer wants, whether it involves ordering parts and doing full-scale replacement or jury-rigging something because the customer cant afford or doesnt want a major repair. I was very satsified with the Honda Accord I bought from Ericsons--drove it for over a decade with no problems.Rates for service are reasonable--not dirt cheap, but youre getting a skilled mechanic with many years experience. It IS a one-person operation and so not as tidy or as quick as a dealership, but youll be working in someone whos more interested in doing whats best for you and your car than he is in selling you parts and services you dont really need.

Most dangerous old man, will any how let you and your car down. Took $140 and did no work at all. Never go to him for repair, he is a pillage who will pretend to be in Army many years ago. Shame !!

AVOID at all costs! He is a complete scam! We needed a tow, he said he would be there in 1 hour and 3 hours later he finally showed up but never called to inform us that he would be late. When he got there didnt apologize, wouldnt lower the rate for the tow and argued when we expressed that we were very upset with his poor customer service. He also assured us our car would be done the next day which is why we had him tow us since he assured us he had the part to fix our car and get us back on the road as soon as possible. Our car was not fixed for two days, we picked our car up and headed straight to a FORD dealership to get his work inspected. They advised us to avoid his garage for all services, everyone they talked to has had horrible experiences. Avoid this place!!

Bought a buick lesabre from here and the over-drive gear didnt work on the way home from just purchasing it. The warranty was As Is and Chuck (business owner)agreed to pay half of the repair bill.

Rude and a Rip-off make sure you get your quoted price on paper and understand that there is a $20 a day charge for having the car sit even if he is paid work on that day.

Has saved us time and money over the years as our mechanic.
