I highly recommend Tuffy! I have taken two broken down cars to them. I am a college student who is far away from home, and they were very easy to work with. They have great customer service, quickly looked at the cars, have reasonable prices, and were great with communication.

Ive had several circumstances of taking my car to tuffy or significant others to tuffy and they have far exceeded my expectations. Every instance theyve told me a long time to wait for my car to be fixed its been done within the next two three hours. Tuffy is also very good about letting you know the cost before they work on your car and they want to make sure that you know all the options. Which Im very grateful for because it gives you ability to choose what you want instead of people just tacking on extra expenses. Tuffy will always be my go-to when it comes to auto service shops!

I visited Tuffys for an oil change/service back in January after hearing many positive reviews. I went in expecting to pay $40-50 for a regular oil change, and was presented with a four-figure invoice. I felt my heart immediately drop to my stomach as I looked over the bill.I understand what Tuffys was trying to do - present ALL current and upcoming fixes and problems with my vehicle. (Some repairs on the invoice were items to address 15k miles down the road.) This is information that I appreciate. What didnt go well was the execution: I was surprised by what was on the bill, and the red-haired man behind the desk rambled, scattered and non-stop, about all of the technicalities involved while I tried to recover from the price shock. It took several attempts to get the man to cut to the chase so I could decide/pay the bill, and I wanted nothing more than to get out of the shop by the end. It was a cringeworthy experience.Tuffys also did not fix an out taillight that I had asked for. I was still charged for this service, as well.I would not recommend Tuffys based upon their in-shop professionalism. There are better services elsewhere.

They were able to get my car in short notice based on a friends referral. Took my car in right away and did a complete safety check. They worked with me to be able to service the most important things first. Pricing is reasonable. They are my new go-to mechanics!

I worked with Greg to arrange for repairs for my college student who was stranded with his car on Rt 20 and had to be towed in. He and his crew were courteous, timely, and delivered on everything I needed at the original price I was quoted. For service- this shop is exceptional!

I had a great experience I just got a used car and was freaking out over everything I thought might be wrong. I took it in to have it looked at, and they helped me by explaining that everything was normal and I had nothing to worry about. And to top it of they did it for free!! TLDR; Waste of time and money. Dishonest employees.I took my car here a couple of years ago to get some basic repairs. The guy that helped me was trying to come off as friendly as possible, but really ended up coming off as creepy and made me feel uncomfortable.When I returned to get my car and pay, the number they gave me immediately made my stomach sink, because I knew I was getting majorly ripped off.Feeling trapped, I paid... I left and immediately noticed that the issue was still obviously present. I went back later and they fixed it for no additional cost. But still, I wonder how they missed this during their test drive...Theyll rip you a new one and smile while doing it. And by the looks of it, they dont brush their teeth.I would highly recommend Tuffys to anyone that hates themselves and their money.

Had to get a few things checked out. Had a cracked sway bar among other things. Nick was super helpful and I had my dad (whos been an auto mechanic since before I was born) verify that their prices were fair and he said they were really good about pricing. Definitely going back next time I need a repair done

These people are top notch! I have to believe it starts with Greg - the Manager. He is SO NICE and I hope he treats his employees as well as I think he does and as well as he treats his customers! They are never rude, or condescending, and they always explain everything very well. They get my car in quickly, diagnose it, communicate very well, and get it fixed ASAP. Everyone, from his Assistant Manager, mechanics, and anyone else that works there is amazing! There is even a female mechanic (I believe she is a mechanic-sorry if I am wrong!) and I am all about women in roles that society deems a mans job. Keep up the awesomeness! My car was a mess and they were so sweet and made me feel better about it. They are trust-worthy and customer-focused. I will continue to go to Tuffy for my auto needs. Thanks Everyone!

My engine had overheated the morning I was supposed to go to a family reunion. I thought for sure I wasnt going to be able to make it. Every other car shop in town had told me it would be at least 4 days to a week before they could even look at my car. When I called, Greg was very understanding. I didnt outright say that this was urgent, but Greg must have sensed it was. He told me Ill use my biggest shoe horn to get around to looking at it today. Sure enough, two hours after I had gotten the car to the shop, he had diagnosed and fixed the problem. Price was very fair. Ive gone to other shops in town. You wont find this kind of customer communication or service elsewhere. Greg and Nick are top of the line.

Always polite and listen, never had a problem there

We recently moved to the area and was referred to tuffy by our neighbors. Called and was able to get a same day appointment. We were told what was needed immediately and what could wait. Which was much appreciated since the total amount was much more than we anticipated. On spending. The very next morning I got a flat tire(ran over a nail). At the time I called I didnt know what the heck was going on with my new tire. I called and my car was towed and fixed within two hrs. I cant thank tuffy enough for fixing me up right away. Ill definitely continue to get all of my vehicles serviced there.

I took my car in for a coolant leak and they wanted to charge me $758.28 to replace my water pump. They were charging me $250 for the $75 water pump and $500 for labor. I did this job myself in 2 hours for 150 dollars. Just another example of chains trying to screw you over!

Took my car in for an oil change, they inspected my car fully and gave me a list of repairs and told me what was urgent and what could wait and also included costs!Make sure you book your appointment a week in advance!!Will definitely be going back!

This is important for us since we need all the vehicles for the service we provide. We bought a used car for getting from A to B, take the strain off our family vehicle. It needed some work done, so we called tuffy and spoke with Greg. Great service. They were very friendly. Talked me through with what would need to be done to my car and which were priorities. When I left and my car didn’t seem to drive right they looked at it with no extra charge. As a woman they didn’t try to convince me that stuff needed to be fixed today.

I am not impressed with this establishment. My friends engine in her car was “fixed” and after she gets her outrageous receipt she gets into her car and it won’t start. Now, you would think they would start the car at some point to make sure it was working properly but that obviously didn’t happen. Long story short, they fix the problem and didn’t offer any compensation of any sort. Also didn’t even offer an apology! The customer service was not substantial and I think they could improve on their service all around.

Exceptionally great service, always extremely clear with the work theyre doing and done ahead of estimated schedule. Never pressure to do additional work, while informative in what they see as upcoming service.

I just called to get an oil change and was told they cant get me in until Saturday. When I said I was leaving town on Friday he suggested I drop it off on Thursday and they will squeeze me in! That is why I continue to be a loyal customer to these guys! Thanks guys!

I know little about cars and probably should have it checked and maintained more regularly. The cold air killed my battery but Tuffys was there the same day I called they got me in and set up plus fixed somethings that I didnt even think about. I felt they were honest and cared about my experience with them, as well as my car. The shuttle service also was a huge bonus in these cold days they dropped me at home and picked me up when my car was ready. No hassle or fuss. These guys are great! Took my car in for what turned out to be a broken sway bar - but being a college kid at the time who knew nothing about cars, of course I had no idea what that even was, so I was unsure about the pricing and if it was something that was absolutely necessary to fix. He could sense my hesitation and asked if I would feel better if he discussed it with someone in my family. I gave him my dads number, and he actually called him to talk over the issues and pricing. They ended up getting the job done that afternoon.I also took my car in another time for an oil change and had to book it two weeks in advance because they were so busy. When I got there, they couldnt find my appointment in the system and werent sure why, but they said they would squeeze my oil change in anyway. They later realized they accidentally scheduled it for the next month, but they still fit me in their schedules even though they hadnt pinpointed the issue yet.My experiences have been great with the Tuffy team! This is the only place I will take my car for servicing in the Cedar Falls area.

Best Auto shop around, will never take my vehicle anywhere else. Went in with problem about not being able to get out of park in my automatic car without releasing the manual gauge. After they ran a tests (likely an electronic issue) was told it was a bad switch and will be about $132. Found out later it was a bigger problem that I would have to take my car to a ford dealer. Tuffy charged me NOTHING. Great service. They EARNED my loyalty.

We realized our brakes were going bad on our way to Iowa for a family reunion. Everyone around us kept asking if we were going to Tuffys, so we gave them a shot. We were NOT disappointed! They were able to look at our car, give us a fair quote, work on our car and had it ready within a few hours. If youre in Cedar Falls and are having car trouble, we recommend takin it to Tuffy!

Went to McDonalds by where Tuffy is located and heard my tire leaking. Saw Tuffy so we drove over here. They squeezed me in their schedule, and my tire was not repairable so they put my spare on at no cost! Very nice people!

I dont know if Tuffy is the best in this area, but I must say that Tuffy is the most honest and kindest one. One time three of my four tires cannot be refilled and the pump at gas station doesnt work on my car, I asked them for help, they helped me refill and didnt even charge me!

On a positive note, I would like to share with all my FB Friends that live in the CF/Waterloo Area some helpful advice. If you find yourself in need of a reliable and trustworthy mechanic at reasonable rates, trust in Tuffys on Main Street in Cedar Falls. Great work at a good price.

Went there told them I had at least one miss probably two. Then spent hours doing diagnostics and told me a bunch of other stuff they wanted to do for over 1500 dollars. they said my K&N air filter was very dirty and should be thrown away and replaced with a paper stock one when I just cleaned it about 1000miles before this miss issue. Just fount out today when they were just trying to find other stuff to do to charge me more they damaged my air filter just looking at it how the hell you do that. They told me my transmission fluid was very dirty to so after I got it outta there my Dad and I changed and he said thats not real dirty yet (btw he is an auto mechanic). When they said they were done looking at it, it would be over 600 just to get it running right again told my Dad that and he said tell them not to touch it anymore that is like 200 over priced. So we got a trailer and took it home fixed it for less than 200. To get the keys back from them I had to pay 90 for them just tying to find extra stuff to do, DAMAGING MY AIR FILTER, and FIND OUT it was MISSING, WHICH I TOLD THEM WHEN I BROUGHT IT THERE.

My daughter is a UNI student and Tuffys is close to her apartment. Her brakes were squeeling bad and she made an appointment on a Friday to take it in on the next Tuesday. Have never used Tuffys before, so didnt know what to expect. Well, low and behold her car overheated and broke down on Sunday and we had it towed to Tuffys. They got it right in Monday morning, Greg called and said the brakes were fine but just needed the drums cleaned off (they could have soaked me for a lot of $$ as I wouldnt have known any different cause I thought the brakes/rotors would need replaced). They fixed the thermostat and a a couple minor things that they called first about and had the car done in the afternoon. Very impressed with their service.
