I’ve been growing out my hair for over three years now and knew it was finally the time to freshen up. I have never had my hair done here in chicago so it was difficult to find the perfect spot for me. I just have to say i am super lucky to find one!Maggie and Nada made made magic to my hair :) I got balayage and a natural layered cut. The color came out beautifully and the balayage blended perfectly with my natural hair color and my old dyed color. The hair cut helped my color shine and my head feels so much lighter!Everyone seemed professional and proud of the work they do, which I think is really important. When I came in I was welcomed with care and assisted well. The colorist and stylist listened to my request very carefully and made sure we were on the same page while giving suggestions to provide with the best service.HIGHY recommend if you are looking for a high quality hair salon. You will be in good hands!

Great hair cut and color

Extremely unprofessional. Will try to upcharge you any way they can. Ex. If your hair is longer than your collarbone it’s $50 extra for highlights then what they tell you on the phone/online. For me, they tried to charge $100 extra for my highlights. Ridiculous and could have been asked / informed on the phone while making appointment to not waste client’s time and to be transparent. Who charges $100 extra for hair length when their Groupon does NOT mention hair length additions which is highly misleading.

I have been getting my haircut here for almost 3 years. I have seen Nada and Gia, and they are both so friendly and talented! I always have a smooth and pleasant experience at the salon. Unfortunately, with covid, it seems that the whole experience is more rushed now - in and out. I do hope when things better that the experience goes back to being more leisurely and relaxing. Nonetheless, they are doing an amazing job. I am looking forward to my first color at this salon in a few months. Though the rates are higher than most salons, be assured you are paying for high-end talent and a luxurious experience.

What can I say!? Parker is such a sweetheart and so professional! It was my first time there and she fixed my highlights, took out all the brassy color I had. She recommended some great hair products, since I wasn’t using the right ones. My blonde is looking better than ever. I am for sure coming back to color my hair and not only that I am recommending her to my friends as well!

I love Charles Ifergan Salon. Been going here on & off since fall of 2001, at their old Hayes st location. Charles gives the best cuts if you ask me, otherwise I wouldnt have lasted coming back all these years. The former owner Charles was an awesome hair stylist as well. Enjoy the waiting room upstairs, nice place to relax with a magazine, a drink, or even have a quick bit to eat. I was in recently to have some post Covid hair coloring done and I am ecstatic with the results! My regular stylist was not back to work yet, so I took a chance and made an appointment from a friends recommendation of Parker. Wow! What a delight! First off, my hair was a post Covid nightmare. I had a large amount of re-growth and whatever highlights that I had left had turned a brassy color (not attractive).Parker was very professional and couldn’t have made me more comfortable about the state of my hair. She assured me that I would soon be back to normal. Well let me tell you, I’m not just back to normal, I’m far better!!!! My hair color has never looked this great! I don’t know what she did, but the dimension and tone are BEAUTIFUL. I’ve actually had other women stop me and tell me what great hair I have. Needles to say, Parker will be doing my hair FOREVER! Give her a try you will not be disappointed!

I have been going for something like 20 years, most of that time with Jamie. In all that time, after the cut, my wife says Did you get your hair cut? It looks great! (She goes to Jamie too.) Jamie is the best, never a bad cut, and I have asked her to to do many different styles over the years. The rest of the staff there is also always great.Its more expensive than Super Cuts, but the hair cut is so well done that I only have to go every three or four months. So it all even out!

I was a first-time client yesterday and Dennis did an amazing job with my hair, he was funny, yet very professional and attentive. The salon itself is very posh but the vibe of staff and customers interaction is friendly. Mr. Ifergan came up to greet me and complimented me, which I thought was very nice of him. Eddie has been my stylist for about 9 of those 14 years and is amazing. He has a great eye for cutting for your hair type, which is a real skill, to understand how hair texture will impact a great haircut. My hair looks great from the moment I walk out of the salon to how lovely my hair always grows out.Jillian is coloring my hair and after years of single process brown color I finally had a byalage with her and it’s amazing. She worked with me knowing that i tend to go a little longer between colors ( since i live out of state).Nothing but great things to say about any of my experiences at Charles Ifergan. I have had my hair colored by Kennedy at Charles Ifergan on oak street twice and am thrilled with her work. My hair is naturally ashy and dishwater and I either end up being over highlighted so I have no dimension, or I end up with a dark color that makes me look tired and pale. I have always wanted a more sun-kissed natural look and am happy to say Kennedy is the ONLY person who has achieved this. I live in Michigan and will try to make trips to continue to see her, I dont have endless funds to do so but will save just to do it!; she is that good. She is friendly, listens, knowledgeable and just a great guy in general. Also, the way she colors helps the color last and look natural for MONTHS so Im not visiting every 8 weeks like I used to. The salon itself is gorgeous and the staff is SO NICE which is a welcome change from many salons. I highly, highly recommend;)

Best salon experience! I saw Rachel for my haircut and she was awesome. She listened to me, was very patient, she offered her input based on my ideas, and she was extremely nice! They say you need to be careful when you pick your: dentist and hairdresser. I have yet to pick the first one, as for the hairdresser, the address is clear now: Charles Ifergan Salon. Danny is very professional, listens to me carefully and delivers great results. He is also the most caring, fun and sweet hairdresser I have ever come across.

I found my dream team with Aaron and Sam! I have been going to Charles Ifergan for nine years and Ive had such a positive experience. Aaron is my stylist and he does an amazing job with my hair EVERY TIME. He knows my hair, he knows what to do, and I always walk out feeling like a million bucks. He continually makes my hair look chic and modern and I love it! Hes also so much fun to talk to. I wouldnt go to anyone else in Chicago...hes the real deal!Sam, my colorist, is incredible. She knows what to do when I ask her to dial it up. I love the color because she adds dimension so that it looks more natural. I get compliments constantly for both my cut and color. I know its difficult to find people to trust with your hair (after all, its our best accessory) but you will not be disappointed in Aaron or Sam. They both come HIGHLY recommended...love them!

Ive been going to CI for years and have never had a bad experience. Bella has been my colorist for a long time now and shes awesome. Actually, shes amazing and perhaps a magician. Today I came in with my usual very dark brown (almost black) hair and left a few hours later with platinum blonde hair. Yes, that is correct. This was a huge change and as always, I trusted her completely. If you are considering doing something big like this, see Bella.

I have been getting my hair highlighted by Samantha (colorist) for years. Shes AMAZING! I got married in Mexico and this idea in my head about how I wanted my hair to look. Samantha worked long and hard to get my hair to the perfect color with the most beautiful highlights so that my day could be just perfect!!!! Samantha is the BEST!!!!

I love coming to the salon. It’s hard to find a great stylist. They have good customer service and great stylists. Everyone is very talented and you can go to anyone and you will leave with a great cut .

Went for the first time since they have a first time customer deal for $59. The Salon layout is nice and organized, Jaime cut my hair beautifully. Although the lady who washed my hair was very rough, it wasnt relaxing in anyway, then she applied the deep conditioning treatment only from the middle of my hair down. Im not one to get anyone in trouble so I didnt say anything. She just seemed annoyed and rushed, even talking to her for the minute or two, she offered me a drink but didnt even want to ask to further annoy her, who knows maybe she was just having a bad day.. today waking up I feel like the lower back side of my head is bruised from the sink and her pulling my head so far down into the sink. Ive had bad haircuts before but never a bad hair washing experience usually thats the most relaxing part, oh well..

Alexis is amazing at balayage/color! This is my second time coming to her for a balayage (first time with Groupon) and I am SO happy with the results. I went to a different salon in the city last month and the lady messed up my hair but Alexis was able to fix it and make it look so beautiful! Tiffany gave me a haircut and blowout and she is super friendly and did a great job with my hair too. Yes the salon is on the more expensive side but you literally get what you pay for -- I got an amazing color, cut and style at Charles Ifergan and had my hair look awful at a cheaper salon in the city. This salon is definitely worth it!! You will walk out feeling happy and confident!

George Zafiris is absolutely the best hair colorist! He usually does my highlights which always look amazing. However, this time my roots only needed touching up. When I returned to work everyone complimented me on how amazing and shiny my color was. I told them I just touched up my roots! Which just tells me how amazing he is that my color lasts and never loses it shine even if I go a couple months without highlights. I would never let another colorist touch my hair!

Gia and Samantha are my go-to pair for a cut and color. My hair looks great after every cut and I dont have to blow it out for several days afterward. Sams color comes out perfect every time and I can go at least 5 weeks between single process treatments. Theyre also up on the latest trends so we have fun comparing notes.

Great experience with George!! Love my highlights every time!!! Im always getting compliments on them. My hair is fine but super healthy because he never over processes it. I would never let anyone else touch my hair.

I give it three stars because I had an awesome blow dry but once I stopped looking at that big bouncy curls, I realized the color done by Pricilla was barely visible.Must add that it took a lot longer than I’m used to. Pricilla left me mid color maybe 4-5 times and didn’t explain once where she was going. I think she was helping another stylist with a color issue but she was gone for over 5 minutes at one point...and I had some color in at that point. So probably over processed underneath and not left color in long enough on top caused the issue. 5 star blow dry by Casey though. Seriously the best blow dry ever. I’d love to go back but color is so important I’ll be choosing someone else for that.

I went to this salon for a highlight and haircut. Haircut was great. I didn’t like the highlight. But they fixed it for me for free.

I purchased a groupon for the bayalage and got my hair colored by Priscilla and cut by Dennis. I loved everything about it except the face framers which I felt were too bold. I contacted the salon and Priscilla fixed my concerns (at no charge!) They were incredibly gracious and I am obsessed with my hair. The salon is also super pretty and everyone was welcoming and nice. 10/10 recommend.

I was in Chicago for a work and decided to pamper myself. The hotel I was staying at recommended this salon since it was within walking distance.Figured since I didnt need to worry about sun exposure with it being near freezing, Id get a facial. I recommend asking for Helina, as she did a great job and is very friendly.Next time I am in Chicago I am def coming back :-)

The only reason this review is getting one star is the nice colorist. My sister received a gift from a friend from Gilt to visit this salon. Upon showing the colorist what she was interested in doing, the manager told her that it would not be possible and she would not be able to use her gift card. When she asked for options of different color treatments, the manager continuously told her that they would not be able to work with her. To be so instant that you could not work with my sister begs the question why? In what business model do you refuse to find any service that fits within the gift card category and instead lead the customer to the door. It is extremely disappointing that my sister when into this feeling great about up dating her look and instead left feeling down on herself because the salon refused to work with her. Please think about how your employees tones and actions effect people. People go to salons to leave feeling good and that did not happen for my sister.

I got my color done with Carlos for the first time and I had a great experience. Carlos did my color just perfect. My color looks better than ever!

Finding a stylist who actually knows how to cut hair. Difficult. Finding someone who will listen to what you want. Very difficult. Finding someone who understands hair, gets the peculiarities of your hair, and can put together what you want with what you need. Impossible. Unless you get a tip from someone you trust, whose hair youve seen in person, and know exactly who did that cut. My friend and I got the tip that Dennis was fabulous. Absolutely true. Came here for years, from when Dennis wore T-strap shoes. He does beautiful cuts. I like the just been ****** look. Slightly messy but perfectly groomed. He knows about colored hair, reverse bleaching, and how to deal with damage. Also love his personality. Highly animated. Talks, gestures constantly. Not just to you. Always entertaining while working. Takes a real interest in all of his clients.To have a great stylist means dealing with this narcissists paradise, but it is Oak Street. Mirrors everywhere, even in elevators and their ceilings. (🤳 paradise). But its all good. All about attitude. Positivity. Totally upbeat. Chrome. Glass. Glitz. To make you feel as good as you look with your new cut. Its all about style. Some of the shampoo folks are so limp-wristed youre better off sticking your head in a sink. If you find one that vigorously stimulates your scalp - priceless. I cant recommend Dennis more than to say his skills makes Chas almost tolerable. (Just kidding, Charles). Parking costs a mint and so does the cut plus tip. But how great you feel when you look in the mirror? Totally worth it.

I have been to this place on Saturday for the first time. it was nice place but my hair stylist didnt do a good job once I got home no one liked my hair cut, I had very long hair didnt do hair cut for 12 years so I was hoping to have nice V shape . he said its V shape but in real its just an extra piece at the end. And now its too short which I cant make any changes with it. I wanted side bangs but I dont see that too.

Very disappointed overall! Haircut, only wears the short sleeve rope for every customer, so when I noticed all the cut-off hair falling all over my clothes and pants, I asked the girl(Ivana or something) that if they have a cape or apron to cover, she said no need just blowing it off after the cut, can you imagine how is that gonna work?? then I noticed the next customer was not having anything covered either but only the short sleeve rope as i was wearing. of course i have hair everywhere inside my clothes and pants when I left!!!! Also, I agree with the other review, they were rude and rolling eyes to the customers, especially when I tipped only $10 to 2girls, one of them (mikiala)immediately gave me the face and attitude! well, never going back there again!

LOVE Sayuri who cut my hair. She is professional, creative and knows hair! Not only she made me look 10 lbs lighter, I look 10 years younger with the cute cut that she designed for me. I love this salon! Miriah is an absolute pro with color. She has such a good eye for what will look good and Ive never been disappointed. She has taken me darker, lighter, ombré, and I always get compliments on my color and asked where I get my hair done. I have never had a colorist make such great recommendations for my skin tone and lifestyle. She is AMAZING! As long as shes doing color, I will never go to anyone else!

Receptionist Serenity is extremely unprofessional. A very rude, inexperienced salon attendant, that could have secured 3 future clients for the salon with two very stylists, at least. She found a way to be abrupt, short-sighted & assinine within 5 minutes of me throwing my cape on & sitting in the chair. The colorist called on her for input, which was a lazy, futile move. Eddie is an EXCELLENT hair tech that listened and coordinated a perfect hair cut at my first visit. Shame that Ifergan allows such a crab to thwart business at the desk.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The salon is beautiful but the stylists are not experienced and will mess up your look

First of all I was in vacation there and they were able to get me in in a day after emailing.Very responsive to my email and they had the manager contact me and get me in when I wanted.That was impressive!Then I had color done by Alexis and haur cut by Olivia.Both doing a very good job, if I could, would have taken them both to Alabama!But anyway, both seemed to know what they were doing and my color and cut was amazing!I went for a platinum blonde, which us not easy yo get where I am and Alexis did such a great job with that!5 stars all around, if I wasiving there these two would be my stylists!!

I asked Victoria for a more ashy ombré than what I had. She ended up giving me caramel highlights that looked gross. She also gave me a very unwanted chemical cut with the bleach she used. I had to get it fixed the same day and get a deep conditioning treatment by a more trusted person. She also had no problem talking down on her co workers and saying she knew more than them. She just came across very unprofessional and ruined my hair.

My daughter had her hair done at a local salon, a two toned angled bob, which turned out poorly. I found Charles Ifergan Salons on the internet and read a particular review on a successful color correction. We were able to get an appointment for the following day. Angie, the salon colorist who took my call, did her homework and had several recommendations ready as soon as she assessed the condition of my daughter’s hair. No pressure. It was completely up to my daughter how she wished to proceed and she was well informed about the processes and costs. The staff was very well trained and highly skilled and it was easy to have confidence in their abilities. She decided to go with an all over color correction. I cannot tell you how impressed we were at the outcome! The staff worked tirelessly through the complicated process and yet maintained cheerful conversation, offered beverages, and sought to make her comfortable in every way. They even stayed late to finish, blow dry and style her hair. My daughter now has gorgeous chestnut colored hair that looks so natural you would never know she was the same girl who walked in with the black and blonde two toned bob earlier that afternoon! I cannot thank the staff enough, particularly Angie, Victoria and Bre! Your dedication, skills and professionalism are superior! I look forward to making my appointment as well as bringing my other family members to the Charles Ifergan Salon in Oak Brook!

TLDR: Very nice salon, the groupon is worth it, Alexis is great, make sure to speak up about what you want.I was recommended by a coworker to book my groupon balayage with Alexis and she more than exceeded my expectations! Before buying this groupon I had called other salons since I have dark brown hair (with partially bleached aka orange ends) and wanted to go to an ashy blonde balayage. Alexis spent the time to make sure my hair was how I wanted and even though she recommended two sessions to get it just like the photo, my hair looks amazing! My only complaint (which is pretty small) is that I wish I had set up a consultation beforehand because its a little disheartening going into a salon that you already paid a ton of money to get your hair done in just to have the colorists tell you that they cant match your photo (but my hair came pretty close which is exciting -- just a warning to others). Also I wish for the blowout that came with the groupon I could have gotten curls but my stylist just started blow drying my hair straight without asking what I wanted (once again not a huge deal but would have been nice to ask first). Overall very good experience and very nice salon!

Horrible place they don’t even deserve a star,but with google you need to add one in order to review .Let me start off they treat you like garbage and roll their eyes at you.Their hair brushes are so dirty the water they use is moldy.Avoid I got dermatitis.especially Olivia, and Lorna are horrible unprofessional hairstylists I ever seen better off taking your hair to Supercuts for the same quality.Currently havinh Groupon investigate them.Worst money I ever SPENT

I got my color done by Anyssa and she has done the best job on my color that anyone has ever done for me before! Ive also seen so many other colors shes done! Anyssa did a fabulous job!
